For the price you pay you really don't get a lot of food. Bland and tasteless. Save your money.

Food not bad. But for the portion they give, the price is a little high. I like that they cook per order. Oh, I didn't get a fortune cookie!

Located off Stirling Road (accessible from both directions), Hong's BBQ sits amongst the various shops that make up the Stirling Place Plaza. If you're here based off your search for food around the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Hollywood, you've got the same idea as us and this review is for you; Hong's is essentially "around the corner" from the casino and a great option if you want to venture off the resort for some great food. Recommended by a source for reliable eats, we decided to give Hong's BBQ a go before our trip back to Tampa. We found that Hong's BBQ has some great authentic Canto-style Chinese cuisine. Not big by any means (you can't necessarily host a large banquet style gathering here), there is definitely ample seating - mainly suited for parties of 4. We came around 1pm on a Sunday and had no issues being seated - although the restaurant maintained a steady flow of customers in and out of the restaurant. There are a few larger round tables scatter throughout with the typical lazy-susan setup in the center that may accommodate larger parties of 6-8. If you're not interested in dining-in, there is definitely a "butcher's" station/display that is set up toward the back of the dining section. The setup within the restaurant definitely brought back nostalgic memories of Chinatown restaurants and their racks of char-siu, roast duck, pig, and soy chicken hanging under the heating lamps. From here, you can order cuts of the aforementioned meats by weight without the "extras." The menu offered a great variety of Canto-style cuisine; I would argue that it's hard to go wrong with a choice based on their selections they have available. We ordered two noodle soups (roast duck and char siu), along with an order of the beef chow fun, which were all outstanding. Beginning with the noodle soups, you have 3 different noodle options; I opted for the flat rice noodles which I instantly craved upon identifying it as a choice. The noodles were cooked to al-dente perfection that had a good amount of "bounce" while easy to chew. The broth was also on a whole other level that warrants praise in itself. The beef chow fun is also a must - yes, I recognize that this may be considered a "basic" choice, but Hong's BBQ makes this the right way. The service wasn't poor - let's just say that it falls in line with the coveted 3-star Asian restaurant rating (If you know, you know). The servers knew how and when to deliver. All in all, Hong's BBQ is a great place to dine with your family. I would recommend this to anyone in or travelling to this area.

It was empty. But it slowly got more diners, with about 5 tables filled before we left. Service was fine but the waitress who took our order barely spoke English and it was difficult getting answers about items on the menu. Nevertheless, we ordered pan-fried dumplings, the three meat combo plate with roast duck, BBQ roast pork, and crispy pork. We also got a seafood platter with salt and pepper shrimp, squid, and scallops. The latter didn't have much taste. We couldn't even taste any salt and pepper. The dish came on a bed of shredded raw cabbage. There was no rice. When I asked, the server (a different one from the woman who took our order) brought us a small bowl. They had forgotten to put the rice on the plate. (The dish is advertised as being served on a bed of rice.) The meat platter was decent. Although the duck skin needed to be crispier, the pork skin was very crispy. The BBQ roast pork was tasty, boasting a nice char siu flavor. The few strands of Chinese broccoli that was served with the dish was cold, as if it was added from the refrigerator. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings. They seemed to be homemade. One appetizer, two entrees, tax, and tip was $66.

No rebrand. No influencer nonsense. Just food. You can't dine in--and haven't been able to for about four years--because they don't have the staff to support it. No dishwasher, tight labor across the board. So this is strictly takeout. Accept that now. Then eat it on the hood of your car and be very happy. Egg rolls first. These are real egg rolls. Thick wrapper. Proper filling. Pork (he said beef this week, but my tongue says pork), visible shrimp, cabbage, and--most importantly--preserved mustard greens. That funky, savory note that modern egg rolls forgot existed. Get extra. Freeze them. You'll thank me later. Wonton Especial. This is the soup you order when you want everything. Vegetables, shrimp, chicken, pork wontons. Clean, savory broth that tastes like someone actually cared when they made it. Pork fried rice. Legit. Big chunks of roast pork. Egg. Scallions. Dark soy flavor. No beige sadness. Could I dock them for no bean sprouts? Sure. Am I going to, at this price and quality? Absolutely not. This is real takeout from a 20+ year business that never tried to be anything else. I told the owner flat out: if he moved this operation to Coral Springs, he'd make a fortune. Until then, Davie knows what it has. Bring napkins. Eat outside. Respect the classics. And bring cash.

I'm wondering if the creator(s) are from northeast China: the fillings, especially the dumplings, are very solid, and the wontons are chubby. An Asian woman is making the dumplings behind the glass window. The small logo on their black plastic tableware is thoughtful and appreciated.

There was a sign stuck on the kiosk however, stating that the kiosk was for takeout orders only. The place was clean and well organized. We seated ourselves and my husband walked up to the counter to grab some printed menus we spotted. An employee appeared from elsewhere in the establishment and grabbed the menus and brought them to the table, leaving my husband awkwardly following him back to the table. My daughter saw the drink menu of teas and drinks and asked for an orange drink. I inquired from the server whether it was okay for kids, had any milk, and whether it was a juice or not. He informed me it was a syrup and it was a good choice for a kid. Upon receiving the drink, I tasted it and it tasted very strongly of green tea. Not something I would give to a child, but I guess I didn't specifically ask that question. My daughter was highly entertained by the robot server with a cat face that delivered our drink order. We continued optimistically and ordered the Peking Duck Bao, the Pork Soup Dumplings, the Chicken Sanji and the Fried Noodles with Shrimp. The Peking Duck tasted severely microwaved and dry. The skin was soggy and not at all appetizing, and there was one tiny sliver of green onion in one of the three bao. The pork soup dumplings were nothing to write home about, but were good overall. The dipping sauce that accompanied the dumplings was delicious and definitely added some flavor to the dumplings. The Chicken Sanji was a thick skinned bao dumpling and something I was looking forward to trying. It was lacking in flavor and the texture was not my favorite. It was accompanied by the same sauce as the soup dumplings. The fried noodles with shrimp dish was disappointing. The shrimp was perfectly cooked but the noodles and veggies lacked in both flavor and texture. All the veggies were soggy, and the noodles were coated in a sauce that lacked any type of flavor. It was just... sad. My daughter was provided with some cute kitty kids reusable chopsticks that she did use, so that was something that added a little value to our visit. Our check was around $65 before tip, and I have to say we will not be back.
