Came by this bakery curious to try some Filipino baked goods, honestly I'm not familiar, I've only had Jollibee a couple times with the general impression that their products tend to be on the sweeter side. Would love any good suggestions! On a weekend early evening around 5pm and they seemed to have most items in stock. From other reviews seems like they're known for their ube cheese pandesal, ube cake, mango cake, pan de coco and pork asada bun. I picked up a torte Cebuana $3.25 and pan de coco $1.50. The former tasted similar to a pound cake in cupcake-like form, sprinkled on top with fine sugar. The latter was a sweet bun with shredded coconut that tasted sweetened with palm sugar. It had a lovely fragrant coconut flavor and was tasty though a tad too sweet for me. The store itself isn't big, a pretty casual set up with seating for maybe 12-15 at cafe tables. The back counter is where baked goodies are displayed, a fridge on the right contains chilled drinks and full-sized cakes which looked made to order. On the left side of the store are some Filipino grocery items on shelves. Staff was friendly and helped answer a couple questions I had about ingredients, (or asked other staff what they didn't know). If I was in the area I'd come back to try a few other items.
Went and ate here today for my bike group trying this place out for the first time. We definitely got different kinds of pastries to share together as a group and we then said it tasted really good and delicious. The service there was also very attentive, pleasant and friendly. We couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)
These Fillipino Buns were OK!! Not worth the hype!! At least they take credit cards!! Service was good! Cute little store & Ambiance was nice!! Plenty of seating as well!!
Nice little spot for fresh filipino baked goods. Came in around 1245 and unfortunately most of their I've flavored baked goods were sold out or until later in the afternoon. Plenty of seating for a little meetup and catch up. Would like to come in again and try some of their other baked goods. The torta is their version of a mamon and it is not as spongy, but definitely more dense
When you have a sweet tooth, most important part of a birthday dinner is the dessert. I was surprised with this whole Ube Cake from Kape't Torta for my birthday cake and it did not disappoint! Ube is one of my favorite flavors and unfortunately, there aren't many starts that sell whole Ube cakes in Queens, luckily, my siblings were able to find this place! It was very simple as you can just call in to place the order ahead of hand and pay when you pick it up! The writing was written neatly and the flavor was perfect! It was nicely sweet but not too sweet and you can actually taste the favor of the uber through the cake and the frosting. I will definitely be grabbing a slice here and there (they sell the cake by the space as well!) when I am around Elmhurst! Definitely a must go for Filipino dessert lovers!
The ube cheese bread was AMAZING. It was hard to get a seat at first because there was a massive party of people. But the food was absolutely worth it. Maybe Im not a fan of the cakes, but the bread was simply spot on. Would definitely go back to get more of the bread.
I happened to be near this tiny bakery, and, based on other reviews, decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a good decision! Having never had Filipino deserts, I went with a variety. I tried a slice of Ube Cake, of course. It was light and less sweet than I expected. The cake was spongy and the icing was smooth. I'd definitely have it again. I also tried two different pandesal, the cheese and the ube cheese varieties. These are basically buns with cheese in the middle and were also quite tasty! The space, while tiny, had seating for a dozen, and had a nice vibe. Service was great too. I'd definitely recommend checking Kape'r Torta out.
Have tried the Pork Asado Bun which was okay. What I like to get at Kape't Torta is the coffee and the Ube Cheese Pandesal. The soft purple bun with cheese and ube. Will get those again. Also tried the Pan de Coco, very tasty with shredded coconut went well with the coffee, but it was a tad too sweet for me. Current pricing of both the Ube Cheese Pandesal and Pan de Coco were $1.50 each. There were chairs and table you can sit and enjoy your treats. Staff was nice and friendly. Will be back to try the ube cake and other desserts.
This is a small Filipino bakery located in Elmhurst. I heard about them as I was trying to find Ube cakes. And I'm really glad I did because I loved the cake! I can definitely taste the Ube flavor and would definitely love to get it again!
I was walking back (I believe from the nearby Lahi or some other nearby place) and passed by this small little Filipino bakery. The people inside were nice and while I was interested in the ube cake, I decided to just go with two of the small buns as I was just in the mood for a little snack. I got two buns; the Ube Cheese Pandesal and the Pan De Coco which were $1.50 each. In general, both buns were both soft with a good texture. The pandesal was my preference of the two. There was a bit of floral sweetness from the ube while the cheese inside was slightly salty and the bun had a good chew overall. They contrasted well and I can see why they are popular. The coco was a tad sweet though it had a nice buttery outside. I could see it going perfectly with some coffee or tea and it was still good though and cheap as noted. Good little place. I would go back in the area and get a slice of their excellent looking ube cake.
Incredible one of the best Filipino bakeries in the city. Tried their freshly baked ube cheese bun which is one of the best pastries I have ever had. The cheese has a very sweet but pronounced taste to it. 10/10 The ube flan was not too sweet also tasted a little stale... I can imagine what a fresh would be like. 8/10 still was pretty great The ube cake was the star... fluffy and mouth watering. 11/10. Don't walk run here
Amazing family owned Filipino bakery with very affordable slices of cake and other Filipino baked goods. Came for the ube cake and it was fantastic, cold and at room temp. At room temp it was bouncy, fluffy and melt in your mouth. Cold it was a lot firmer like a more dense chiffon cake. Great ube flavor throughout and a sweet light whipped cream frosting. Absolutely coming back for the mango cake and more of that ube cake next time!
Went to pick up some sweets for afternoon snack. Got the flan ube cake and some ube cheesy bread, which I had not had before. Really like the flan ube cake, like having 2 desserts at once. The bread was interesting, not overly sweet or savory, very pretty purple.

We visited Kape't Torta randomly when we were waiting for our to-go order from Awang Kitchen. The decor looks simple and humble but we were attracted by their Ube dessert, since I am a super fan of Ube. The owner is super friendly and welcoming to recommend us their must-try items for our first visit. We had their Ube Cake with Flan and Garlic Bread with Cream Cheese. The food was so good, especially the Garlic Bread, it was delicious and perfectly balanced between savoriness from garlic and sweetness from cream cheese. The Ube Cake was also tasty and creamy with soft texture. read more

They take card. Besides bread, they have shelves of snacks. There was also a fridge with different fruit sago. I tried the Ube cheese pandesal, Ube cake, and Ube custard cake. All were delicious. I'll definitely return to try the other stuff. read more
This is my first time trying Philippine sweets. So I just get what people recommend Ube cheese pandesal, this is so good! Soft bread with cheese inside. Match so well together Pork asado bun. Inside has small chunks of pork and egg. It tastes ok for me. Cheese ensaymada. It's like a bun with cheese inside. Pretty good. Overall I like ube cheese pandesal a lot! My goodness this place smells heavenly! We finally decided to drive to Queens to check them out. First impression was good, they were strictly observing social distancing and allowed only 2 customers at a time. I called earlier during the day to place my order of Ube Cheese Pandesal (the reason why we went to Queens in the first place) and when we were picking it up, we loved that they were just packing it in a box because they gave us the freshly baked ones! The staff was really amazing. Such warm friendly Cebuanos and mga Bisaya. Jerome who assisted my order was also so nice. Thanks again guys! And since we were already there, we thought of getting other stuff worth trying. We got the Pork Asado bun and also the famous Ube Custard cake (or Ube with Leche Flan). Happy they cut us 2 slices from a whole cake, really appreciated it! When we got home and for the next few days, here's our verdict: The Ube Cheese was delicious. Probably in my Top 3 in NYC. Not as much Ube Halaya inside as others but so delicious nonetheless! The Pork Asado bun was sooo good! Took me back to my younger days in Manila when I would enjoy a delicious Asado Siopao! My husband loved this too! And for the finale, the Ube Custard Cake was amazing! Cute little place. Could use some decorations or something can be done about the ambiance. They didn't have a menu from what i saw or maybe I wasn't looking hard enough? They do have one online if you want to reference that with what you see. I just went by what I saw in-person which was displayed out. I had to ask what each were and saw this slice of Ube cake which was so tasty. I asked for the ube cheese cake to take home too. I must say I can eat so much of these pastries- it could be dangerous! read more
The ube cheese pandesal continues to be my favorite item here. They take it out straight from the oven so it is nice and warm when you get it. Don't forget to get a video/photo of that cheese pull! I can't wait to try their pork asado. I've tried ordering it a few times but it was sold out everytime. A lot of the items didn't feel freshest, however the ube and cheese balls are amazing for a really low price. I always eat these in the dozens for a quick savory snack. However the cakes felt like something you could buy at the supermarket and the meat buns felt very lacking in flavor and cold. However I love the atmosphere and how kind and sweet the staff are here. Their drink selection is amazing and the Ube cheese balls keep me coming back! read more

Service and food 10/10!!!! I heard about this bakery from a friend and trekked all the way from Brooklyn (even pre-ordered all of the pandesal) a day before and it was so worth it!!!! My family loved it just as much. Joe was great, when we sat out in the outdoor dining area - he cleaned the table beforehand, heated up the pandesals and provided us with what we needed. We tried all the pandesal (cheese, ube cheese, regular, Nutella), Spanish bread and pork asado buns. They were all so fluffy and not too sweet and affordable!! (About 0.50-$1.5) each Cheesy one: 5/5 that nice cheesy dripp Ube cheese: 5/5 (my fav - has ube custard too) Regular: 3/5: it's plain and fluffy Nutella: 4/5: just too much chocolate for me IMO Spanish bread: 5/5 I really like the flavor, not too sure what the flavor is? I heard this was one that sells out quick too. Pork asado buns: 5/5 nice surprise to find an egg in there haha! The pork is savory and it reminds me of pulled pork but not as saucy Avocado shake $4.5 - one of the best, so creamy I definitely am coming back haha, it's such a cozy feeling - very cute cafe interior too, also very popular amongst the locals read more
I went here because my parents were visiting from Virginia and as Filipinos do, we crave pandesal. Lol. I'm so glad I went here because it was worth it! Usually, in Virginia, we get the ube pandesal filled with cream cheese. This location has yellow cheese in theirs. I'm not sure what the type is... I didn't ask... but it doesn't matter because it was a delicious combination!!! I was scared it wasn't going to be good but it was good. It was really good. Sarap (delicious in Filipino)! My dad mentioned that he liked how the cheese helped the ube be not too sweet. He loved that because the ube pandesal we usually get is sweet. So yeah. This was a great experience -- food and service wise. I'll be visiting here with my parents more often! Hope you visit soon! read more
Woodside really is great when you're looking for more rare SE Asian cuisine from the Philippines or Indonesia. Kape't Torta is a local authentic bakery that serves classic Filipino baked goods like pan de sal and enseymada. We got a few things when we stopped by which were all good. Ube enseymada, banana muffin and halo halo were enjoyed by the family. Prices are very affordable and it's a great place if you want to get some classic Filipino baked goods. Thumbs up. read more

My love for Ube brought me to Queens, and so glad I found this place. Got here during mid afternoon some pastry items were already sold out. Staff recommended the ever popular Halo-halo, but I wasn't in the mood for the drink. I checked out a some Yelpers reviews and decided on the Ube with Pandesal and the Ube Ensaymada. The Ube Pandesal is a round bun with a cheesy filling, while the Ube Ensaymada is a Ube muffin with a sweet cheese topping. Both items were very filling and I enjoyed it. The pastries tasted especially good when it's still warm with the gooey cheesy center. Will go back soon to try out their other types of Ube favorites. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile so finally had a good day and I ordered halo halo and ube cheese. Halo halo had crunchy cereal on top so I saw this white thing and thought "oh maybe it's white chocolate??" I bit into it.. definitely not edible. This is a safety hazard so please be more careful. The person in front of me had ordered halo halo as well and when the front lady came back, I told her I wanted halo halo and she seemed annoyed. She asked the back if she was going to order halo halo as well... as if I should've told her I wanted halo halo as well when the person in front of me ordered it. The bread needed to be warmed up as it was not fresh and cheese was hard. I'm sure it was an honest mistake but they really need to be careful with what they put in halo halo. read more
This place smells AMAZING when you walk in. They are open during pandemic, with one small table outside on the sidewalk if you wish to eat your snacks. I've had the Adobo with rice, green mango bitter melon, ube custard cake, and the famous Ube pandesal with cheese. Highly recommend this place. Reasonable prices too! read more

Very recently two Filipino businesses opened up on this block and I suddenly got a chance to try a number of delicious things I never would have known existed. The cafe is modern and bright. They sell a small selection of Philippine snacks. Their Oishi Spicy Prawn Crackers are the best shrimp flavored snacks I've had so far, usually I find them sort of bland but this is nice salty snack with a shrimp flavor you can taste. Also their Boy Bawang Cornick Garlic snacks (corn nuts). On my first visit I came specifically for the sapin-sapin. This is a pastry cut into cake-like slices, made of glutinous rice flour and coconut, and it's soooooo good. The texture is similar to mochi, and good luck eating it with a fork! I stab the whole thing with said fork and nosh it like a pork chop or something (you can also heat up a knife and cut into bite size portions, did this for a party once). There are three different layers, I know the purple one is ube, I assume the white is coconut, but I'm not sure what the green layer is. Anything with ube is delicious to me, ube is a purple yam that has an understated sweetness. The whole thing is sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes. I also adore their custard cake. Airy, with a small layer of custard, and the top is caramelized (I think). I was blown away, it's so light and sweet and rich all at the same time, I'm not a dessert person but this is worth coming out of your way for. There is another cake that resembles the custard cake a bit but has what looks like cheese sprinkled on top. If it is it doesn't taste like cheese; I asked the guy behind the counter what the difference between the two cakes was and he said this one was the same, but the texture was different. He's right, the frosting here is much thicker, but I also thought it was a lot sweeter, definitely more like Western desserts are. I tried one of their savory items, the asada pork bun, and wasn't feeling it. The dough was very sweet (I think this might be called a torta), it reminded me a little of a donut, and the pork and egg inside was dry and without flavor. Service is always so friendly! The owners were all smiles, so happy to see everyone who comes in. Even though it's a new business, it seems like they have already established themselves as a neighborhood favorite and there was a warm, familiar feeling there. read more
New Filipino bakery in Elmhurst. I have not tried their pastries but it seems pretty cheap. I had a melon slushy which is made of real fruit and it was only $3! They also serve breakfast. I will be back to try their pastries soon as they all look delicious. Owner is very friendly. read more
Kape't Torta is a Filipino bakery that serves a variety of Filipino baked goods that range from pandesals (bread roll), tortas (muffin), and cakes. They also have a selection of drinks, snacks, and even savory breads, so there are a lot of options to choose from whether you're looking for a snack or some dessert. I wasn't too hungry, so I opted for two pandesals: cheese drizzle and ube cheese. Overall, the pandesals were quite enjoyable, but I do wish I had them when they were more fresh, as the bread was not as soft and fluffy as I hoped it would be. I did arrive in the afternoon though, so the morning might have been a better time. Both pandesals are filled on the inside with cheese, which was nice and savory, but it was more solid when I was expecting a melty and gooey cheese filling. The cheese did contrast well with the sweeter pandesal bread though. The ube itself was nice as it had this slightly nutty and vanilla-like flavor. On the other hand, the cheese drizzle pandesal had some nice cheese topping on top. The best part though is that each pandesal is only $1, which is an unbelievable price these days for any food. It's definitely worth trying if you're looking for a quick, affordable snack on the go and if you got family, you might as well bring a box back home! Next time, I do hope to try some of their cakes and drinks, as they look really good. The ube cake with flan looks really decadent in particular and I have heard that the halo halo is good as well! If you love Filipino baked goods or would like to try some, Kape't Torta is a great spot to do so, as everything is available at affordable prices, so you can try a lot of things at once if you want to. read more

I found this place when I was walking by it and saw the sign outside that they have Halo Halo and that attracted me to go in. A mask is a must to enter which is good that they take safe precautions. I love their Ube pastry especially the one with the cheese filling inside. Don't know the name but they're really good. It looks like Ube bun purple on the outside. Their Halo Halo is not that great compared to other places I've been to in Filipino community in Jackson Heights. This one has too much shaved iced and they're not fully shaved. No syrup either. Only some beans at the bottom. The Ube ice cream is kinda bland, don't taste the Ube or the purple yam. I'm coming back just for the pastry. They have two tables outside for outdoor dining. The tables inside are closed for dining. Great place if you want to get some dessert and drinks to go. read more

This place is such a gem! Everyone in here is so nice and neighborhoody. The ube pandesal is a must have as everyone knows already. This is always sold out so order ahead!! The ube custard cake is so addicting! Perfect layer of eggy flanny custard on top of ube cake. A dream come true. read more
It's a ube heaven! I forget to take photos of my ube cakes. Ube cake is very flavorful (unlike any American places). It's also relatively cheap. The small sponge type of cake is only around $1. I get another sticky rice type of dessert. Each item is around $3-$5. Can't wait to come back to try more items read more

I'm a Filipino desert lover. Was told about this place by word of mouth. Amazing pastries. Yes they have a limited selection, especially during this pandemic times, but still excellent. Prices are not bad either. I've had the ube pandesal, ube cake, and ensaymada. The cake is really tasty, reminds me of when I'm in the Philippines. Love this place Call ahead, before 2pm to "reserve" any items as they run out of selections, especially ube pandesal. There's only 2 person Max inside the small shop and there is only one person serving, so prepare to wait a bit. Most items are freshly prepared. Cakes are stored. read more

We went to a 50th Birthday party to a friend of mine and we saw this cake, i was amaze in the beginning cuz it catches my attention. When i get closer and closer, i said something is wrong with this cake.... it was leaning like "TOWER OF PISA" lol, and its not even tall enough to lean. ok let me start the reviews: 1). They shouldve put straws or sticks inside to make it straight.. i am not a baker but i know the basics. 2) The details.....DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS!!! not even close to the picture where they based the design!!! 3) The PRICE!!!!!!!!! its rudiculously $380.00!!!!! i was almost fell frm my seat!!! i couldve bought a cake frm costco and couldve it layer by layer!!! 4) We didnt bother to taste it!!! lol read more

I've only tried their pandesal so far but will go back to try out the rest! The ube and cheese flavored pandesal are a nice snack or morning meal to go along with my coffee. Ube was slightly sweeter than expected but still delicious. read more

If your favorite color is purple, you'll love this Phillipino bakery! They are well known for their Ube desserts. Ube is a purple yam grown in the Philippines and it's delicious. I had a slice of their Ube cake and it was dense and not too sweet. I also tried their ube pandesal with cheese. It had an interesting taste with the cheese but still yummy because of the ube. read more
