Pouring rain today so just went to Kapolei instead of Honolulu. Since they changed owners a few years ago, we haven't been until today. Thought one cannot go wrong with Beef chow fun and Singapore curried rice sticks and chow Ong Choi For lunch. Food( noodle dishes) are good...double portion compared to other Chinese restaurants. Service attentive - even brought us take out boxes without asking; kudos to the staff. Next time will try the fried Kau Gee, it looked really good on another table...big dumplings. read more

PERMANENTLY "CLOSED" FOREVER ‼‼‼‼‼ The entire staff have immigrated back to the MOTHERLAND "China" - I guess they're work visas or something questionable occurred for them to CLOSE UP and just abruptly pack up and suddenly leave the U.S. permanently - I actually traveled out of my way from EWA BEACH to Kapolei just for ONE of their dish that I grew to love and couldn't find anywhere else - It was so disappointing and at first extremely upsetting when I realized that they had all disappeared overnight - Well like my old POPO said to me often ".... nothing lasts forever..." - And dam it she was right - I grew up eating Wor Won Ton Mein in CHINATOWN in post WWII Honolulu at "Tin Tin Chop Suey" restaurant - The old style made by hand CHINESE dumplings where the restaurant ladies would layout all of the ingredients on one of the back dinning room tables - A huge batch of raw PORK HASH mixture, a bowl of warm water for dipping, the raw uncooked Wonton Pi square pieces and the Pork Hash mix - Wooden Trays of finished Wontons stacked one on top of each other ready for the days orders - Through the years and my grandmother's lessons I've developed my own recipes and techniques for making WONTONS for either frying or boiling - I also mastered the much larger GAU GEE with exactly the same recipe - WELL I hope they are all happy wherever they escaped to leaving the most BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON PLANET EARTH read more

The service isn't pleasant and the food taste like the sauce is duplicated in all dishes. We ordered beef broccoli and chicken gau gee noodles both tasted identical. I was in the area and decided to take out. I grabbed a takeout menu and it was sticky and covered with rice cake. I asked for a new menu. I ordered beef chow funn - dry no extra msg to go at noon. After waiting until after 12:20 pm I asked where my order was. The possibly owner looked at me in shock. The waitress said she will check it should be soon. Another employee came out with a metal steel cart with a platter of duck in the little bun. Three takeout containers with corn soup. A bowl of corn soup. Also my takeout container. The platter was for the group that came after me and ordered after me. So it appears they wait to complete all order before filling the cart and bringing it out. Not bringing out as orders are filled. So I am not impressed with service. The peking duck was missing a lot of the skin on the duck peices (skin is needed for the bao). We've lived in Kapolei for 28 years and thought we'd try them again (last time was bad, too). My wife took me and her bestie to lunch. We went in at 10:45, the posted opening time was 10:00. They were still mopping the floor and had to wipe down the table that they sat us down at. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We ordered two lunch plates, an order of Harm Ha Pork with ong choy, and an order of sweet sour spareribs. The plate lunches were ok, but neither my wife nor her bestie thought that it would be worth buying again. The portions were large but lacked in taste. I can tell that the quality isn't consistent and it is very greasy. We only went here because it was close by for a large group. I have never left a review before but I created a whole account just to share this experience. I left a 20% tip on my bill when we finished eating. As I was walking out the waitress chased me down in the parking lot as if she wanted to fight and demanded where her tip was. She said the man at the register said I didn't leave a tip. First off, I left TWENTY-PERCENT! Second, tips are not mandatory. What kind of establishment yells at their customers and harass them in the parking lot! I was floored. Also, she did not apologize after she realized she was wrong and I had Infact left a tip. They are lucky I even left a tip in the first place because their service was horrible. Another hidden gem in Kapolei. I Love Chinese food, and this place doesn't disappoint. Ok, not 5 stars, but the food is, well good! Been here for parties, family gatherings, pot luck, food trays. Staff is always on point. Very fast to get your order and food doesn't take long either. I love this place for ordering party trays. Very affordable, my favorite for pot luck is the, char sui, fried noodles. I also order pork gau gee, salt and pepper shrimp, etc. no need to order a day before. I usually order 1 hour ahead and food is ready in 20 to 30 minutes if not busy. All the food I have ordered and or from parties I have went to here was very flavorful and delicious. We went on Sunday afternoon around 1ish and it was great there wasn't a great crowd a party was just getting through. We were seated right away and ordered within 5 minutes. Waited for our food to come about less than 10 minutes could have been 15 minutes we were getting a bag of shrimp chips and Chinese moon crackers to snack on while we waited. I've been coming here for years and it's always been one of my favorite Chinese restaurants to go to. They have your standard menu but also offer a bunch of daily specials that give variety every time you go. All the dishes are pretty much as you would find in any Chinese restaurants. I remember this Chinese restaurant back in the day when I use to live in Makakilo. The quality of food and taste is good but the service is average. Got invited to my family house for dinner so I thought I would bring 2 orders of crispy Gau Gee Mein and a side order of crispy Gau Gee. I phoned in my order got there to pick up my order and they made only 1 order of Crispy Gau Gee Mein . So I told the gentleman I ordered 2 orders not 1 he replied we can make one more but going take 10mins. I know he was the person who answered my phone order because the other 2 workers were ladies . I personally washed my face right when getting home because of how greasy it felt. We were in the mood for Chinese food the other day and I remember a person on YouTube saying this was a good Chinese restaurant. It was Ok, nothing great but no real complaints. It's very similar to a dozen other restaurants that serve Chinese food. They do serve very large portions of, so you will not leave hungry. The service was alright. I have never experienced such bad customer service anywhere in Hawaii. I came here with my family for my niece's 17th birthday dinner. We did not want to split our party because we saw another table that would accommodate our group of 14. I kindly asked if we could move so that we would not be separated from the kids. They reluctantly obliged. We were the only customers dining in. We sat down and were not given menus. They left one group menu for our entire table. We had to go and find a waiter FOUR TIMES - for menus, to order, refills of our drinks, our cheque and take away boxes. We were not an unruly group, our children were well behaved, we just wanted to go somewhere decent as a family and enjoy a good meal. Our table did not have enough silverware or plates, our tea was served lukewarm. When we finally ordered, the older man who was our waiter mocked our order, telling us we were not ordering enough for our party. We politely told him that some of our family would not eat certain things and that we knew what we were doing. He said whatever and kept taking down the rest of our order....I've never been questioned by the amount or type of order I was making unless I asked. When the food arrived, the older woman that served us stepped on my cousins foot that was in a sandal THREE TIMES. My cousin politely told her that she was standing on her foot, by the fourth time (we ordered a lot) she came back to deliver our food she rudely leaned over my cousin. By the time the food arrived everyone was starving and not in the best of mood because we already felt unwelcomed and unwanted. But we decided to stay because my niece really wanted Chinese food for her birthday and this location was the most convenient for our family. The waiters did not check on us during our meal, they did not bus our table and at the end we waited so long for the check we joked about leaving so that they would finally pay us some attention!! We went and asked for our bill, they added 15% gratuity which I just learned from my cousin, who is also in the food industry, we are not required by law to pay, especially if the service sucks. We left with four takeaway boxes of food - I guess we knew our party but ordered more because we felt pressured by the waiter. The food was decent. All in all I will never go back.
