Went here after seeing a 30ft line at Aga's (about a mile away) on a Sunday noon, which turned out to be an unforeseen blessing! We had a plane to catch later that day, so were elated to find that they were serving a buffet lunch, i.e. no long wait to order food and wait for it to be prepared and brought to our table, as happened at Aga's the last time we went---a whopping 30-45 minute wait! A tell-tale sign of good things in any Indian restaurant: the large venue was 90% full and we were the only folks NOT from the Indian subcontinent or Middle East! The buffet was actually high quality, including two goat dishes which we loved. (All too often, Indian buffets are exclusively chicken and vegetarian, both very meh but undoubtedly cheaper for the restaurant.) Servers were gracious, lovely and attentive young women...there was nothing not to like! Will definitely come back next time I'm visiting Houston. Would be curious to try their regular menu. Overall I'd say their food quality was very close or equal to that of Aga's. And of course, being a buffet, you can have much more of it if you like. Everything was good: appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. Lastly, there was plenty of parking, another plus vs Aga's which is in a strip mall with lots of surrounding businesses so you have to hunt a bit to find a spot, and usually not very close by. read more

The restaurant we had originally planned to go to had a long wait time so we decided to check another local spot close by! The young waitress that helped us was really sweet and was very helpful with explaining the different dishes and what she would recommend. My favorite part was the naan, it was so flavorful and crispy! There was some burnt places on the bottom naan but other than that perfect. The dish in the last photo was super unique almost like an Alfredo sauce, very flavorful. And the butter chicken was solid. The mango lassi was a little more chunky than I am used to but still good. We ended up waiting quite a bit for the food to come out compared to other places but overall a great spot! Would definitely recommend! read more

One of the worst dining experiences I've had, due largely to sexist and dishonest service. If I could give this place one star, I would. We came in with a group of about 11 people during a holiday week. Several of us were heading to a movie afterward, but we arrived with plenty of time to order appetizers, drinks, dinner, and actually enjoy each other's company. Unfortunately, from the start, service was slow and inattentive. When our server finally came to take orders, the pattern became very uncomfortable very quickly. He went exclusively to the men at the table first, spending a significant amount of time chatting with them, making recommendations, and checking their drink preferences. The women were largely ignored. He never checked our drink orders, and when two of us wanted to order additional food beyond the shared dishes, we had to interrupt him to be acknowledged. When I tried to order a kebab roll and clarify how it was served, since the menu clearly states it comes with naan with a paid upcharge for paratha, the server dismissed me and responded rudely, saying, "Who is stupid enough to get it in naan?" Completely unnecessary, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. Why make naan the standard, if it's "stupid." The food itself mostly arrived on time, and I will say the biryani was excellent, which makes this whole experience even more disappointing. Side note: they put potatoes in their biryani, there is a large debate on whether they belong in biryani and in my opinion they unequivocally do. Unfortunately, my kebab roll never came. My husband repeatedly asked about it and was told over and over that "the kitchen is backed up." This continued until everyone else had finished eating, boxed their food, and some of our group had already left for the movie. I had not eaten at all. When my husband finally asked to cancel the order, the server claimed it would be made to go and comped. After continued waiting, another female server checked on it and told us the truth. The order had never been put in until just minutes earlier. So we had been lied to repeatedly. When the roll finally arrived, it was not boxed, requiring even more waiting. And despite being told it would be comped, we were charged for it anyway. At that point, after such a public and frustrating experience in front of our friends, we paid just to leave. Between ignoring the women at the table, failing to take or place our order, lying about the kitchen delay, and promising to comp the item and then charging us anyway, the entire experience reeked of misogyny and incompetence. It was exhausting, embarrassing, and unacceptable. There are far better options nearby, and in Houston, that I would recommend before ever returning here. No meal, even a good biryani, is worth being treated this way. read more

I've been to their Mississauga, Canada location plenty of times so I was very excited to try this on my trip to Houston. Tried and tested chain, I knew it was going to be authentic. We got their Combo #2 which comes with a half chicken Karahi, chicken biryani (we got dark meat boneless), and naan. The food was absolutely delicious! Definitely daawat style, the spice was just right. We closed the night with KARAK chai, which was more like doodh pati. I am not a fan of heavy milk, but if you like milk, you'll love their chai. Our server was very kind. Towards the end there were many large families dining so he was super busy. They gave us some rhabri kheer on the house which was also delicious. 10/10 would visit again! I just want to say the service is top tier. They take pride in their food and the restaurant. The flavors are amazing and unique to the restaurant. What an amazing experience! In my short trip to Texas I ate at this place twice. First of all, this vintage place has a snooker club vibe to it. Emerald green with soils, dark wood interiors and green marble.... Classic! I believe Arbaz was our main host that night. What an amazing guy. He made sure none of our guests had to ask for anything, he would refill, your food, your drinks, constantly ensure other servers were on top of it on throughout our event's tables. What a treat. The ambiance is great! Large spacious restaurant that is decorated giving you nostalgia of Karachi. Kudos for that. Service is good but could definitely be improved. Yum! Came here with my cousin after driving past this place for 1+ month on my morning commute. We got the butter chicken poutine and white kadhai. My cousin also tried their mint mojito. Overall, everything was amazing! Food was flavorful, fresh and served hot. Service was awesome and the waitresses kept coming in and checking on us. Ambiance was so nice, as well. Booked this place two days in advance during the holidays for a wedding celebration brunch of 20ish people. This was one of the only places willing to accomodate us last minute and they did not disappoint! Found another Gem near the home!!!! Loved the inside layout. Staff were amazing and very attentive. Nice selection on the menu. This is a beautiful sit down style restaurant, divided up into sections so it doesn't feel as large. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. They offer quite an extensive menu and everything we tried was good. Their standard spice level had just the right amount of burn to it, and they do also offer mild. Special recognition to their Sesame naan, which was outstanding. Also had their special chicken and a very nice paneer curry. There were a number of larger groups there so it looks like a great spot for that as well. Food is fresh cooked to order so it's not speedy, but not unreasonable either. We will definitely be back to further explore the menu. read more

The name of this restaurant implies that it specializes in Karahi's. I went for dinner on a Monday night and they had a buffet. It had only one Karahi dish - chicken karahi and it did not even taste like karahi. When I asked why they did not have more Karahi dishes out (mutton or beef), they actually told me that the dal with meat is a karahi dish !! There were many other dishes like biryani, bihari kabab etc but the food did not taste good across the board...and they charged $31.99 per person for the buffet plus tax. The only saving grace was the service...clearly the wait staff cared and were very helpful But they cannot compensate for food that is not tasty. After I voiced my opinion, they even offered me a complimentary karahi and naan to take home . I graciously refused because it would not get eaten so why waste it . Don't give me wrong There's a lot of great south Asian food in Houston Texas, but this is a perfect combination of food and ambience. Our waitresses were ruchita and Komal. Everyone including the owner came and checked on us regularly. I'm a pescatarian so I had the fish karahi and Lahore Channay. Mom and dad are picky eaters and they loved the food. We ordered total three dishes - one chicken Karahi boneless white meat and two Chicken Tikka Masala all regular spice level. Unfortunately all were very spicy to a level that we had to throw the food away after tasting. And I never had Chicken Tikka Masala that contains large pieces of bell paper and onions in it. Personally speaking after I met your chicken tikka masala, we are no longer on speaking terms. Plus the spice level of this dish has surely activated my third eye. read more

We asked both the waiter and the manager/owner about the GOAT karahi before ordering asking if it was goat or lamb. BOTH straight to our faces promised it was GOAT. We asked again to double confirm, again both vehemently promised it was GOAT. IT was LAMB. Just for the lies, they get 1 star. Don't under estimate your customers palate and lie. This new Pakistani restaurant is amazing. I'm a loyal Aga's customer, but this place offers some unique dishes that set them apart. The must have dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala Poutine. We tried this place because we weren't willing to wait 40 minutes for a table at Aga's. Turns out it was a very good choice. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I think our favorite was the white chicken karahi. We also had palak paneer, chicken biryani, butter chicken, garlic naan, butter roti, and lahori chana. Everything was uniquely flavorful. The only problem is the service was a little slow. I got the impression that our server was in training because she was being shadowed by another server. But it probably would better just to come out and tell us hey she's in training. The Onyx tabletops are beautiful, and the decorations are lovely.
