My mom has always picked up haleem from here for me growing up but we didn't really dine in much. I decided to stop by for lunch because Aga's was way too busy and I'm glad I did. It's a medium sized, clean restaurant with large tables. Everything was super tasty! We got the beef haleem, chicken Bihari, and goat biryani. The chicken dish was grilled fresh and tasted smoky and very tender and paired nicely with the tangy sauce on the side. The haleem was good as usual especially with some lime and fried onion on top. The goat biryani was also great with fluffy spiced rice and tender chunks of meat. Overall I enjoyed my experience. Honestly, it was pretty bad. Houston has so much amazing Pakistani food and I wasted a meal here. The Biryani (goat) was so so dry and flavorless, the Karahai chicken tasted unlike any karahai chicken I've ever had, and the fried fish was just bland and mid. Great Indo-Pak cuisine. My wife has been on a rice kick lately and she ordered Chicken fried rice and it was very good and plentiful...we ate on her leftovers the last two days. We shared everything and I thought it was better than she did, everything had a little spicy heat which I love and she can't handle anymore. Very disappointing experience. We called to place an order after seeing the BOGO offers. The employee told us the offers were incorrect and then claimed they were completely out of chicken biryani, butter chicken, beef haleem, and almost everything else, saying they only had dal tadka left. However, we called back from another phone a few minutes later, and a different employee immediately said they had the full menu available, including chicken biryani and the other dishes. This made it seem like we were intentionally being misled to avoid honoring the BOGO offer. If you don't want to offer a promotion, remove it from Google instead of giving customers conflicting information. Please be honest and consistent with your customers. It made the whole experience feel confusing and untrustworthy, so I ended up ordering elsewhere. read more

Savoy is one of the OG Indo-Pak restaurants and it's been a rocky road for them. However, things are looking much better now. When you enter, you're immediately greeted by the staff and are seated. Water is severed right away. Our waitress gave us time to review everything and added her input too. Their bun kabobs are amazing! If you need a quick bite to eat, you can't go wrong with this. If you need a full course meals, their grill after is the way to go. Extremely tender meat with spice levels perfect. The place is clean and their interior has changed up a lot since the first time they went into business. It's a lot more modern, and the only thing I would change is brighter lights. Order - to - Food: 19 Minutes We got here at 10:30AM and were easily seated with five people. The restaurant filled up a good amount by 11 AM. For five, we ordered the Anda Ghotala (Goat) and two orders of Halwa Puri (with four extra Puri). Surprisingly, they did not have their "Special Tea" ready early. I got regular tea instead. Anda Ghotala (4/5): Very flavorful. The egg is basically scrambled into the dish already. Halwa Puri (4.5/5): Awesome portions for a brunch for the value. Perfectly flaky puri and a slightly sweet halwa. Served with a chickpea with a very nice spice. Amazing food. I haven't seen many Pakistani restaurants in the city I live in, Seattle. So coming through Houston with friends we had to get some Pakistani food and it was incredible. The bone in goat curry had me sweating bullets but it was really good with the garlic naan. The meat was tender and the gravy flavorful. I was excited to eat here after the almost 4K review on Google; however, I'm sorry to say that it was a let down. My husband ordered the Special Grilled Platter (1 goat chop + 1 chicken skewer + 1 beef bihari + 1 chicken seekh kabob + 1 beef seekh kabob) and I got the Karahi Chicken. Overall, I'd give this place a 2.6, so I'm rounding up to a 3.0/5.0 because of the kind waitstaff. Goat Chop: 3/5 - It was ok, nothing necessarily bad, but also not great. Chicken Skewer: 2/5 - Strange texture, my husband said it tasted pre-chewed and at least one of the pieces didn't see thoroughly cooked through Beef Bihari: 1/5 - This one definitely tasted pre-chewed, would not recommend Chicken Seekh Kabob: 3/5 - The flavors here just didn't marry together as well as they could have. It's also on the spicy side, so fair warning if you're sensitive to spice. Beef Seekh Kabob: 3.5/5 - This was the best thing I had on the grilled platter. Karahi Chicken: 3.5/5 - Chicken was cooked through, but I couldn't taste nor see any fresh cilantro or ginger. I was really excited by the idea of putting ginger and cilantro with a curry, but disappointed to not taste any of it. I ordered Goat Masala and the gravy sauce was fantastic - we really enjoyed it. The portion size was good though the meat was not bone-in. I enjoy bone-in meat as it adds to the flavor. The Bhindi Masala was also extremely good and delectable. It leans more to being oily but it's easy to drain the oil to reduce the oilness. I also ordered Goat Paya or trotters which is a slow cooked dish. I was very disappointed by the quantity served. There were only two trotters though I was charged $15.99 for this dish. I certainly didn't like paying $7.50 per trotter!!! read more

Savoy has definitely upped its game. From food quality and service standards. I came here recently to dine in with my family. We were greeted upon arrival and given a booth to sit. They had couple of waiters that came to attend to our table. We got our orders in and I went with a chicken tikka breast, chicken boti, beef bihari and oooo that damn delicious Naan. The chicken tikka was amazing. Grilled to perfection. Chicken boti was very good too, but just not the same without bones. It was nice chunky pieces of boneless chicken grilled. Beef bihari was another item that I usually get. Beef was tender and easy to break. Beef bihari is definitely an acquired taste as the seasoning that is used is somewhat strong. I wanted to order seekh kabobs too but we got bihari kabobs, which were enough. Our waiters kept rotating at our table and the service was up to pars. We got our refills and any other service requests on time. This restaurant also has a grocery store adjacent to it, so definitely take advantage of getting some groceries. There are plenty of items on the menu. For clarification with the menu items, they have a head waiter or someone like a maître D to answer any questions. read more

Went for a quick brunch on a Monday afternoon. This place is keeping up with technology and now has a QR code for menu, ( but didn't have the keema on the breakfast menu, so had to order it separately. We added the Goat keema and Omelet along with Paratha and Chai and jaleebi and pasta kulfi. The goat keema still had the not pleasant taste of the goat, and the server forgot to bring the pista kulfi, but then was able to deduct those charges when pointed out that we ordered but didn't get it and don't want it anymore. Saw a FB post raving about this place and decided to give it a try. We have been going to Aga's for 2 decades and expect this to be just as good. The restaurant is located into the Savoy Shopping complex where there's a grocery store, restaurant, juices and ice cream place etc. We visited on a Tuesday around 11:30 am and there were only 2 parties during that time. I walked in first while my husband parked the car. The hostess took my temperature and seated me directly behind a booth with 4 people. I didn't feel comfortable to be so close with others. My husband came in a minute later and the hostess didn't take his temperature. How strange?! We requested to move to a different booth and was then told to scan the QR code for menu. If you expect your clients to scan the menu, I would expect the menu to be user-friendly and current. Some images were missing which doesn't help. We asked the waitress on the daily specials and it was so confusing. Tue specials have $7.99 karahi chicken and $8.99 chicken something marsala. We asked if it comes with rice or naan and was told no. She said the $7.99 specials is enough for 2 people as the regular price is $11.99. Then we saw the lunch bento for $9.99 and thought it's a good option as it comes with rice and 2 side things but we didn't understand what those were. We asked for the paper menu as it was difficult to navigate on my mobile phone. However, the waitress said a lot of things aren't on available on the paper menu. We ended up getting the Tue special and 2 garlic naans. Then we asked what sauce is used in the mixed chaat. I'm allergic to cilantro and reminded her that no cilantro in any dishes. I break out in hives and it's a serious issue. We got the tomato chicken and found 4 small pieces of bone-in chicken. How is it possible that this small dish is enough for 2 adults? There were a lot of sauces. Garlic naans were good. The mixed chaat had a lot of cilantro and I asked the waiter for a new one without it. He came back with the same dish but I can tell he just removed some cilantros away. He didn't seem to understand the seriousness of my allergy. We asked the waitress to make it again as no traces of cilantro can be found in the chaat. The waiter came and asked if the food were ok. He said, good, sir? Never looked at me. I asked the same waiter for the yogurt as the curry was too spicy. He gave it to my husband instead of me. I was offended!! I've been coming to Savoy since childhood and have always had it at the top of the list for fave desi/paki restaurants in Houston against much stiff competition. They have gone thru a lot of changes over the years, some good, some not so good, but now they appear to be under good management and have renovated very well. I had a bad experience in like 2012 and hadn't gone to Savoy in over 8 years but kept pining to give them another shot for the sake of nostalgia. My bday presented itself an opportunity to go and thankfully Savoy didn't disappoint. The ambience is much improved and even the presentation when it comes to entrees. My family and I ordered the grill platter, chicken Tikka leg, dal over rice, butter chicken, samosa apps and bun kabab. Everything was delicious and exceeded expectations. The flavor of the butter chicken was the best ive had in the Houston area and i love the boiling pot it comes in.. The service was also satisfying as the waiter was on top of things and the crew helped with packing up our leftovers to go. Will definitely stop by regularly like I used to once again. read more

We typically go for their Halwa Puri Sunday brunch but this time we ordered some goat kariah curry , shrimp red sauce curry and palak paneer. Sometimes take a break for a couple of months since we order so much from here. But I was extremely disappointed today with the food. The taste of all dishes changed for the worse. Looks like they have a completely different team of chefs. Ordered the following: Beef Shami Kabab - Good as usual Chicken Shami Kabab - Good as usual Beef Seekh Kabab - No taste of meat at all, they have added some kind of binding agent to the kabab, and the whole kabab tastes like artificial meat now. (It doesn't even come close to 1% of the beef kabab, which used to be served in Savoy earlier) Chicken Seekh Kabab - Same as beef kabab. Although, Savoy restaurant has been around for as long as I came to Houston area in 1995. I have seen it's ups and downs but I have to say, these days it's at the best of it's time. I came here with my two kids and wife. One of my kid loves nihari, so any time we goto Pakistani restaurant, we order beef nihari. However everything, I mean everything taste amazing. We got chicken corn soup, beef nihari, beef behari kebab and goat biryani. Food so good, it reminded me of authentic Pakistani food.
