I've been coming here for well over a decade and have always had positive experiences, which is why this recent encounter was so surprising and disappointing. This was the first time I've interacted with the woman who assisted me (or lack thereof) so I'm not sure if she is new, but her attitude was frankly abhorrent and incredibly unpleasant. Not only was she rude and dismissive, but she also told me that I needed to call in advance before bringing in my items I wanted altered (something I have never once been told to do in all my years as a customer). This came as a complete surprise, especially given my long history with this business and the consistency of service I've experienced until now. I understand that it was maybe later in the day but the eye roll and just poor attitude made this interaction a bad impression and has honestly made me reconsider whether I should continue coming here or start looking for another cleaner in the area. read more

I was surprised to learn that the front‑desk clerk the staff member responsible for taking payments was also the person measuring hems. Given the high prices being charged for alterations, I expected measurements to be taken by someone with tailoring expertise. The clerk was unable to clearly explain the process or what she was qualified to do, which did not feel professional. This place is the worst. They lost a $250 dress shirt of mine and lied and told me they weren't happy with how it turned out and that I should come back in a week. When I did, they said they could't find it and to come back in a week. A week later they still didn't have it. Another week went by and they finally admitted they they lost it and in order for me to get a refund, I need to get them the original receipt because, as the owner says "I don't know how old it is or how mamy times you've worn it." Does that even matter? Should I have kept track of every time I wore it? Who saves receipts from every article of clothing they buy? Even after showing them the item on the brand's website, they still won't refund me even after acknowledging the item and the brand. They lost something of mine, admitted it, and still refuse to replace it. read more

This review is for the alterations services not the dry cleaning. I came in a few weeks ago to get four items altered. The gentleman who works at the front is lovely and very kind, but I found myself quite uncomfortable with the gentleman doing the actual alterations. I felt as though he was very annoyed that I was there and had no actual interest in helping me... When I picked up my clothes 2/4 of them are still too large on me, and I came back to have them fixed but on multiple occasions when I've come in to have them redone the alterations guy isn't it there. Last time I went in I just asked for a refund for a pair of pants that didn't seem like they'd even been altered at all (they fit exactly the same as before) and I was told a manager would call me the next day...but I've never received a phone call and it's now days later...‍ I paid nearly $100 to have half of the items basically the exact same as when I dropped them off... read more

This was my spot, I love the people who work there, However I will never ever ever come back!!!! I took my fiancé brand new suit to be cleaned before our rehearsal dinner for our wedding ( which was in Italy) the suit was extremely expensive designer custom designer suit, made just for our wedding. On the day of the rehersal dinner my soon to be husband at the time put on his suit, to our surprise it was shrunk. He couldn't even get the pants on, it was a nightmare!!!Luckily we had a not as nice back up but it was a complete and uttttttttter disappointment. I will never ever ever ever come back. Such a bad service, I live one block away from this store and I didn't want to go too far for my dry cleaning so I decided to give it a try. Dropped off 5 items on Monday and it was scheduled due for Friday after 5pm. Went to pickup on Friday after work then the guy at the counter said one item was missing and he didn't know why. He said someone will call to explain and it will be ready next day. No one called the next say so I called myself. Missing item was not ready and the guy said it will be ready on coming Monday. Went in on Tuesday after work to pick it up then the lady was very rude, didn't acknowledge much and when I asked her for what happened to missing item, she said it is fixed (the hook on the back) and that's all it matters. Well, I knew it was fixed but she said as if nothing ever happened. First time customer with delay in service with an issue without an apology, I would not go back there nor recommend to my neighbors. read more

This is a lesson in, "I should have known better!" Couple of years ago, I had my shoes repaired (I cannot remember the repair, but it was not inexpensive). First time I wore the recently repaired shoes, the worn out shoelace broke. It baffles me the repair person did not notice the worn out shoelaces and replace them. Just recently, I had heels repaired on another pair of shoes (this store had my shoes for over 3 weeks!, and cost, again, was not inexpensive), the shoes were not polished. To me, replacing worn out shoelaces and polishing repaired shoes should be automatic. Wherever this cleaner farms out shoe repair should be put on notice to observe and complete the job. read more

I had to get a dress altered in a huge hurry for a black tie event in the bay area, so I chose them based on proximity and other people's reviews here on Yelp, and I left pleasantly surprised - and very grateful. Not only were they able to turn it around when I needed it, but it was BEAUTIFULLY done and pressed (which I didn't even ask for). They probably did a better job than the place I would have gone to originally if I had more time and wasn't in a hurry, so I am really thankful to have found them. I got a number of denim jeans hemmed here recently and the staff asked if I'd like to do it with the original hem for $22, very glad I went down this route. Although more expensive than the typical hem, keeping the original denim hem really kept the character of the jeans and I'm very satisfied. Never have I been so pissed.. This dry cleaners is within walking distance to my place, so I figured I'd give it a go. On my first trip, I took in a few items, including one of my favorite summer skirts, and a pair of pillowcases. The woman at the counter (I assume she's the owner) was super friendly, but it was almost to the point where it seemed fake. Despite feeling a little uncertain about that, I went ahead and offered her my items to be dry cleaned. She took the skirt, but suggested that I simply handwash the pillowcases since they were cotton. (The care instructions stated that they should be dry cleaned.) I thought that was nice of her to suggest since she was saving me money, and I went ahead and entrusted her with my favorite skirt. The turn around time was normal.. about a week. When I picked up the skirt (100% cotton), I noticed that it appeared to be faded. I was super bummed because I only wore it once, but it looked as though I had worn it all season. Oh, and when I went to pick it up, another customer had her huge dog (a pitbull) blocking the entryway of the small shop in plain view of the owner. I don't really care to be greeted by ferocious dogs when I pick up my dry cleaning, so that was also a turn off. Fastforward to a year later.. My favorite purse breaks. It's a small, flat purse with an unusual closure. One end of the strap is attached to a zipper, which opens and closes the purse. The zipper came off the track, rendering my favorite purse useless. I needed this to be repaired ASAP due to an upcoming trip to Seattle. It's the perfect purse to take out for a night on the town.. just small enough to fit under my arm and stay out of harms way, but big enough to hold onto all of my essentials. I made the mistake of taking my purse to Larchmont Cleaners. I thought I would give this place another shot since it was conveniently located and I had limited time. I thought maybe the faded skirt was just a mistake. So I take the purse in about a week before my departure and I ask the owner if she can repair it. She says that she is unsure but she will call me within a couple of days to let me know. I decide to go ahead and leave it with her. I never receive a phone call, so after about 5 days have passed, I phone to find out what happened. The owner tells me that the purse has been repaired and I can come pick it up. I pick up the purse the day before my flight. I have a bunch of stuff to do before I leave, so I'm a bit rushed. The total came to $10, but when I offer my debit card to pay, I'm informed that they don't take credit cards for totals under $20. I then have to rush to the ATM to get cash and then rush back to get the purse. When she hands over the purse, I ask what was done to repair it. The owner tells me that they replaced the zipper. This puzzled me because I can clearly see that the original stitching is still intact, and it would have needed to be undone for the zipper to be replaced. I question her again, but she says the same thing and I'm in a hurry so I just take the purse and run. It appeared to be fixed, so that's really all I needed to know at that point. A day later, I'm in Seattle getting ready to go out for a night on the town. So far, I've zipped the purse open and closed once in the presence of the shopowner. I open and close it a second time to put my belongings inside and then I'm off. When I go to open it a third time, the zipper comes off the track again. I was so pissed! There I am about to go dancing with a dysfunctional purse after the zipper was supposedly replaced. 2 days in Seattle and 2 days in the car later.. I'm back in LA. I take the purse back into the cleaners and ask the owner what was done to the purse because it was clear that the zipper had not been replaced. I explain that the zipper had come off of the track again and show her the purse. She avoids the question and gives me some BS about not needing to explain to me the intricacies of the alteration process. But I wasn't asking for her to explain the process; I just wanted to know what service had been rendered, if any. I find it absurd that she was refusing to tell me what was done to the purse. As a customer, I like to know what I'm paying for. In the end, she gave me my money back. This was of course after she denied ever telling me that the zipper had been replaced, while continuing to refuse to tell me what had been done. Needless to say, I will never step foot into this place again. Oh, and on my way out of the shop (2 steps out the door), I overhear the "friendly" shopowner talking about me to another worker/relative in the store. I yelled back at her to stop talking about me and took my purse to Pasquale's Shoe Repair, where I received honest, quality service. Moral of the story: Larchmont Cleaners sucks. read more

I switched to Larchmont Cleaners about a year ago, and have been thrilled with them from the start. Service is always friendly. Lisa & her daughter Sevan always great me warmly - and know me by name. I get that small town feel within such a big city with such personalized service. It's nice to be recognized as a human rather than just by a phone number. Prices are about half that of Ritz just down the street... I used to go there, and even after a year of going on a weekly basis - they still weren't friendly with me. So it was a no-brainer - I tried Larchmont, got friendly service from people who appreciated my business - and never went back to Ritz. As for the bad reviews here - I'm sorry they had such unfortunate experiences. I've never had any issues. Their alterations were always done as requested... even the hemming of my jeans were on par with the work at Denim Doctors or Denim Revival at a fraction of the price. On top of ruining 4 purses, making me wait over a month, no communication what so ever, my calls and follow up with no return calls, and me bringing back the items I received after they were "cleaned (burned, dirtier than I had dropped them off, and stiff) the owner/manager insults me. "Good thing these aren't real..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? First off, how dare you make an assumption like that about anyone. Secondly, you DESTROYED over $3K in purses and you insult the customer? Third, why are you screaming at me? The woman goes on to scream at me that she will give me a credit and tries to grab the purses out of my hand. A credit? Seriously, for what a free cat killing or my house set on fire? Lady I wouldn't trust you with a dirty diaper. I seriously cannot warn people enough to stay away from this place.
