I went out of my comfort zone as i'm a pretty basic person when it comes to eating and usually get chicken tacos or something. this time I decided to try the Al's burrito! It comes with Chile Relleno AND Carnitas.. I'm so glad I didn't stick to my same ol order. That burrito is out of this world!!! I am so impressed, this was definitely a treat! The chips and salsa are my favorite in town. The salsa is 20/10! The service is always great, and very friendly. Used to LOVE Karina's, but something has really changed. I actually feel sad about my food today. I ordered two burritos for delivery. The burritos are more expensive now, but if they're great, I figured it's worth paying to support a small business. Pancho's burrito was very small and arrived cold. Al's burrito was huge and warm, but full of rice and grease. Neither had much flavor to be honest. They both used to be soooo good! Also, orders used to come with chips and salsa, but I only received the salsa. Here's my advice, Karina's: Raising prices is ok as long as you keep up the quantity and quality. Delivering cold, greasy food is NEVER a good idea if you want to keep your business going. Go back to the old recipes, serve your food hot, and remember that your customers matter. Very sad. I normally order a regular bean and cheese, no rice is ever added. But tonight I paid $11.59 for a burrito with little beans, little cheese and filled to the brim with rice. I wanted to try this place in hopes of finding a decent Mexican place in Ventura aside from Lalo's Jr. on the next block. THE WORST food I have ever paid for!!! I was hoping their crunchy tacos would be good so I wouldn't have to drive to Johnnys in the Avenue for tacos and Corn burritos. After this experience I will stick to driving to Santa Paula and Ventura Ave. No Mexican in their right mind will eat this mess! And if you're not Mexican do NOT allow them to take advantage of your ignorance when it comes to Mexican food. The taco is a joke! Store bought taco shell, sprinkled with chicken pieces, see the picture! And olives?? I'm pretty sure that red sauce they served with the taquitos was spaghetti sauce. They should be ashamed of themselves! They clearly have no pride in their restaurant thinking it's ok to serve such a mess. They had a special on exactly what we ordered but never said a word , it was $7.00 cheaper, wonder if they are even skimpier. Whoever makes the chili verde, good job. Nostalgic bliss.....oh how long we have waited for this moment and we were once again back in heaven eating here again. I don't know if it's been so long, or the fact that our interim places can't hold a candle near to this place but the food here tasted way better than the old Mexican express. Love this place! There Burritos and Tacos are like heaven in a tortilla. Love there Aguas Frescas. The staff is fast and friendly and take care of you fast. Parking can be kind of tight during busy hours but the good food and friendly fast service makes up for it. read more

It was my first time here. I got the breakfast burrito. It had potatoes, eggs, and cheese. It was pretty good, better than others I've had in the area, but not better than ones I've had in LA. I like to support local businesses and have been going to this place since it was called Mexican Express down the street. I usually get the Ponchos burrito with guacamole. I'm really disappointed in this place now how the portion size is so small for the amount. You have to beg or pay for an extra side of salsa. The food is pretty good but for $15 you should get more. Absolutely loved Mexican express. Unfortunately after ordering karinas multiple times, it is time to find a new place. Our first incident was when they first opened, they forgot to put any Chile verde in our burritos. We called and they told us to bring the burritos in, so we did. Instead of remaking them, the man opened the burritos and picked through them looking for Chile verde with his hands! ( during covid) He found one piece of meat ( one!) and said look there it is and handed it back to us. Ummm ok I'd rather not eat it after you picked all through it. Next incident; a rock was in our bean and cheese burrito. I understand this can happen however it was very large. The girl was nice about it though. And finally, four dollars for a small bag of stale chips. I could understand two dollars when buying a large salsa but seriously, 4 dollars? Overall the salsa is fantastic and when the food is made correctly without rocks it is good. However we've had multiple incidents with wrong orders and a few of the staff are extremely mean about it. Im more of a authentic mexican food person but this place is definitely bomb for americanized mexican food. I look at it as almost a family owned chipotle, and yea its better then chipotle. Very disappointing. I ordered a taco salad with carnitas. It was basically a stale fried flour tortilla with salad, some guacamole, and carnitas thrown on top. Instead of sour cream, they used cream fresh. The only beans were the tablespoon that they put underneath the shell to adhere it to the to go foil bowl. No cheese or beans inside. If you enjoy this dish, I recommend Los Arcos in Pt. Hueneme. The guacamole was decent and my husband enjoyed his burrito, otherwise it would have been 1 star. read more
