Patty was more like a thin smash burger and the bread completely took over. Also, for being a more Greek restaurant, I was incredibly disappointed by the dolmades. I'm always a sucker for Greek food (let's go ahead and get that outta the way). My father in law told me about this place while I was visiting him, so obviously, we had to check it out. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, so I ordered us quite a few items (review of each item below). Spanakopita This was the only item I wasn't a fan of. The filo dough was perfectly flaky, but the spinach feta filling just wasn't for me. It tasted oily (that's the best way I can describe it). Maybe this was a subpar batch? 3/10 Poutine Fries WOW. I def did not expect to find poutine fries at a Greek place, but here we are. The fries were seasoned and fried to crispy perfection. The cheese and gravy on top was ridiculously good. 10/10 Avgolemono Soup I was extremely excited to try this, and it did not disappoint. Tender chicken (ample amount), delicious orzo, and packed with lemon flavor. If you're wondering about portion size, it's a bowl, not a cup, so you def get your monies worth. 9/10 Greek Gyro Depending on where you go, the amount of lamb tends to vary, but this place gives you a LOT. I can pack away some food, so when I say a lot, it's a lot, lol. The lamb was delicious, as was the pita and toppings. The only "downside" was the Tatziki sauce. Even though I enjoyed the flavor of it, it's not the consistency I'm used to. I'm used to thicker, chunky Tatziki sauce, but this one was more like a dressing. That said, I'm still content with their recipe, but I'd love for the Gyro to come with an extra side of it, as there wasn't enough on it for my liking. Still a solid 9/10, though. Philly Steak This is something else I didn't expect to find at a Greek place, but the cheese steak was extremely good, as was the hoagie roll. 9/10 Baklava Cheesecake This one sounded fun, so I gave it a whirl. It's not your traditional graham crust cheesecake. It's like a vanilla cake bottom, then cheesecake, then a thin layer of Baklava on top. While it was good, it didn't blow me away. The cost ($8/slice) compared to portion size and flavor would keep me from ordering it again. 7/10 Overall, I REALLY enjoyed this place. When I return, I'd def be happy with just ordering the Greek Gyro (extra Tatziki sauce) and splitting an order of Poutine Fries with a friend. Not to go without mentioning, the entire staff was super friendly, the food came out insanely fast, and the ambience/seating options are also pluses. Oh! I heard about this place from some coworkers today who said it was really good. My expectations were high heading in for clarity. I love Greek food and was excited when I heard that Camden had its own Greek restaurant. My wife and I looked at the menu online before I headed to the restaurant to get takeout. One improvement I would recommend is including pictures of the dish with the menu online. When I got to the restaurant and walked in I was immediately greeted. I was a little disappointed looking at the desert display as it appeared that several of the deserts were not made fresh, but ordered from a manufacturer (they were displayed in the box they were delivered in). Others appeared made fresh though. I approached the counter to order and had two employees ready to help. I ordered a Greek Gyro and the poutine fries. I also ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad for my wife. I then took a seat to wait for my food. The owner approached me and took a seat as well. He assured me that everything they did was made fresh in house. I didn't bring up the part about the dessert display. He told me that they had only been open for three weeks but that business was steadily picking up. This was Friday at about 5 pm. There was only one table taken in the restaurant. As for the ambience, the seating seemed spacious with a fairly simple decor. Nothing to rave about but it did appear clean and tidy. I got my food in a reasonable amount of time (10-15 minutes) and was on my way home. My wife was widely disappointed in her salad and didn't end up eating more than three bites. I don't know exactly what was wrong with it as she didn't say. She can be a picky eater at times so I didn't stress about it too much. My gyro was good, not great. The main issue was the tzatziki sauce. It was definitely not up to par. The meat, onions, tomatoes, and pita were fine though. The poutine fries were disappointing though. Something was off in the taste of the gravy and I can't put my finger on it. While this place isn't great, it's good. In Camden, that means I will probably come back just because no one else in town is offering Greek food. read more

I have been anxious to try Karv Bistro since it opened. I was not disappointed! I love the casual and friendly atmosphere. I was warmly greeted by the owner at the ordering counter. The dining room staff person was very friendly and quick to clear dishes and wipe the tables. I had the gyro and I must say it was the best one I have had here in Camden County! The falafel platter was ordered by a friend and it looked fabulous. I will be sure to get that next time! The owner circulated the dining room checking on guests' satisfaction. I actually want 3.5 stars. The pita bread is marvelous. Only used takeout. I had the Greek salad and had wife get the meat sampler. Others got individual items. Fried zucchini is store bought, heavy crust, overcooked zucchini. My salad had two tomato wedges, one cucumber slice cut in'-half, some red onions; large amount of romaine with lots of small sliced black olives and feta. Loved the rope sausage and chicken shawarma curry flavor, Souvlaki had good flavor. Gyro beef neither moist or dry, lacked flavor. Tzatziki sauce needs dill and lemon, but is very creamy, detected little cucumber or garlic. Recommend buy meat platter a day ahead and place in separate bags as the cold improves their flavor; except the pitas - fantastic warm or cold. Combine tzatziki and add garlic/lemon/cuke/dill set overnight. Meats cover fries in platter. Will order platter again, it is a lot of meat and fries with generous pitas. If gyro beef had more flavor and was moist 4 stars and with better tzatziki - 4.5 stars. read more

First, I am glad to say that seeing a new restaurant adding to the variety of international food choices was exciting and very appreciated considering that there is little diversity of culinary choice in Camden. Having said that, I was hyped up by recent reviews to try this 'Greek' and American fusion restaurants' fare. Maybe too hyped. The menu offered a large variety of mixed Greek and American? dishes. Traditional choices like Gyro, Souvlaki, Falafel, etc. Definitely heavy on the mixed fare though, including poutine, burgers, other sandwiches like Philly and Buffalo, wings, and what seemed like pizza but is Pinsa (a 'Roman' healthier version of pizza with a more focaccia-like crust usually made with soy, rice and, wheat) and also some pasta dishes ranging from the Greek Moussaka and Pastitsio as well as (again, Italian) Carbonara and even Italian wedding soup was on the menu as well. Go fusion! I decided to go basic and try something that is a staple in most Greek restaurants, the Gyro. I also LOVE Avgolemono soup and never pass up a chance to nosh some Spanikopita. I usually will grab some dolmades as well as finish up with some Kourambiedes or Baklava. I chose the combo meal, and got a small side salad (I assumed Greek) since they did not offer Horiatiki as a stand alone salad or as a side. My niece got the same, and as they were sold out of Spanikopita, I only added a bowl of Avgolemono soup. The line was long, and a bit slow, but not unbearable. The cashier/server was very pleasant and efficient. We grabbed our drink cups, filled them, then chose our table. It was busy, but not overcrowded. The ambience was simple but nice and the restaurant was clean and bright. Our food arrived fairly quickly considering the long line, and we dug in. The salad was very good albeit lacking pepperoncini, but very fresh and tasty and included the standard Greek olives, feta and Greek dressing. Second, I tried the Avgolemono soup... a disappointment unfortunately. Warm at best, a tad greasy. It was definitely homemade and silky/creamy, however the orzo was mush and it lacked any lemon flavor which is the key flavor in Avgolemono along with chicken, chicken broth, and eggs and usually does not contain chicken skin/bone, which this definitely did. Sadly, it lacked flavor and heat (temperature), a shame as this is one of my favorite Greek dishes. Last, and not quite least, was the Gyro. I have to pick this one apart, regrettably. I have been fortunate enough in my life to have experienced many 'Authentic' foods, of which Greek has been one of my all-time favorites. We have always attended the Greek festival in the previous area we lived, at the Greek Orthodox Church and for so many years as well as having close family friends from Greece who fed us frequently and well. So, authentic and homemade is my benchmark for the breakdown. Maybe they had an off day? Ok, so the pita was tepid and not warmed or toasted. The meat was almost cold and had a greasy texture and taste (most likely from not being hot) as colder fattier meats will. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onion were crisp and fresh. There was no Feta at all on the gyro and the 'Tzatziki'?? well, it just wasn't your traditional Tzatziki, it was more like a Greek salad dressing at best, which added to the greasy flavor I'm assuming. Tzatziki (as you probably already know) is a salted yogurt and cucumber dip/dressing that is made of strained yogurt, shredded drained cucumber, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and herbs (usually dill). It was definitely not that at all. So, although the flavor was ok, it was also bland and lacking a bite thatGyros usually have in abundance. The overall experience and food wasn't bad, it was just not good exactly. Passing at best in a very mild and moderate way, it was a disappointment. For the hype, the expectations of authenticity, and the prices, I just expected more. I may give it another try, as I said, they may have been having an off day, but the first impression wasn't that impressive. Sorry read more
