OPS Pizza Kitchen & Cafe was disturbing and disgusting. It was unclean throughout the seating area, had what appeared to be dead flowers all throughout the restaurant, allowed a vagrant to enter the business with no shirt, no underwear, shorts hanging low, allowed him to touch common takeaway pizza items, and gave him a pizza. The restaurant appeared to be employing a 13yo male who spilled his beverage that he had been drinking all over the pizza prep area and it appeared to get on the pizza and boxes with no deep cleaning, only wiping with a few recycled paper towels. He did this without hand washing or wearing gloves or sanitizing in any way. Pizza was then placed in that area where he spilled his beverage. The only person making pizza, although wearing gloves, was pulling dough on a lower shelf very low to the ground and adjacent to a trash can. The operation had the appearance and feel and cleanliness of a low end highway gas station, not a food business. The reason we know all this is because when we showed up at 35 minutes after calling, as instructed after a phone order, they had not yet begin making our 2 pizzas, so we stood there for 15 minutes watching how disgusting it all was. By the time they came to us with the pizza that had been put where the young man had spilled his beverage and the box was wet, we also found out that they tried to charge us over 60 dollars for 2 pizzas that were certainly not very large, a price they did not quote us over the phone during the order. The people of Fernandina Beach deserve better. I can only hope that this establishment gets a surprise inspection from the state very, very soon. We would have been better off with an $8 frozen pizza. Go anywhere else. read more

We were greeted right away and they told us to sit anywhere. They came over and took our drink orders and brought us menus. We placed our order for our appetizers and then placed our dinner orders. We got the salad bar. It was awesome and clean. The service was a little slow. I think that she was the only server. They were a little slow on getting the appetizers out. The garlic knots were great, hot and fresh. The mussels were very good. I ordered the shells based on the waitress recommendation, add meatballs. They forgot the meatballs. There are 3 of these places and they are all different. This one is more of an Italian restaurant than a pizza place. We were really excited to get the opportunity to try it. We really had some mixed thoughts on the food and service we got. There was only 1 server. She had a young man helping her, but he was not a server and was very unsure of everything he did. The place was probably half capacity, so there was a lot of work for the server to keep up. They have a really great salad bar. You don't see these often anymore and when you do, they are usually basic. This was 2 full bars, everything was fresh and there were so many choices. For apps we had garlic knots and mussels. The garlic knots looked like they had to much garlic, but they had the perfect amount. The mussels were just okay. A little over done and way to much tomato sauce. I ordered the veal Parmigian with spaghetti. The veal was very over cooked. There was burned areas on the edges and veal was tough. The sauce was good though. The noodles were not spaghetti but angel hair. I do not like the texture of angel hair so this was disappointing. My wife ordered meatballs with her entree. When it was delivered the meatballs were not there. The server did not enter them. When it was corrected they came out quickly. Our whole party said the food was good. Maybe just stay away from the veal. Our drinks were not filled regularly and it took forever to get our bill but I think this was due to under staging. read more

I ordered a large meat lovers pizza and garlic knots . This location was less than 5 minutes from my hotel so this guaranteed a hot pizza. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the pizza. I loved the garlic knots and it's mouth watering flavor. The price was a little more than what I expected. I am in favor of supporting local businesses over franchises and this ambiance was worth it. 5 Stars for being one of two restaurants open during a mandatory evacuation (it was beautiful outside by the way...). Justin waited on us, and it was just him and another guy working the whole restaurant. The pepperoni pizza was excellent (reviewed by my 6 year old daughter with discerning taste), the chicken sandwich was "pretty good" as it lacked the juiciness that I like in a chicken breast--it was more flat than anything. I had a side salad, and it was iceberg lettuce, chopped onions, a sliced tomato, and some cheese. There was a whole other salad on my chicken sandwich bun! I removed the purple onions, but the lettuce, tomato, and mayo were ample. Remember, they are still keeping their five stars because of the hurricane operation... They had Pepsi and not Coke (thumbs down for that), the women's bathroom was immaculate, and the service was pretty fast considering. They have coupons in the Mint magazine which I like to use. The water tasted good (unusual for our island as most restaurant water has that slight sulfur tinge). We will return to OPS, of course. read more

We arrived at 6:40ish. I already knew what we wanted: a 14' pizza with black olives and anchovies and 1/2 peperoni. The waitress was friendly. It went downhill from there. After 25minutes, I asked how our order was coming and she told me it had just gone in the oven, a problem with the computer. Another 15 minutes and she said, it's in the oven, it will be right out. Another 15 minutes and she told us one of the staff had a stroke in the back, but our pizza was on it's way. We were finally served at 8:00pm. I will say after 45 minutes she offered me another beer on the house. We were told that because of the long wait, we would be receiving a discount. I thought that was fair enough, until I saw the receipt and it was 3% or .90 cents. Big deal! read more

Ops was okay, the food was satisfying, but I feel like I'm being lenient since I was a tad hangry. Honestly, this place was not worth the 2.25 hour wait... I ordered my food on Yelp and received my confirmation at 1:15 Saturday with ETA 45-60 minutes. Enough time to get ready for a late start to the day. An hour passes. No food. I gave an extra 15 since signal is bad on the north end of Amelia Island and it's easy to get lost. I call and a man answered. The first person hung up after I said I'm calling to check on the status of my order. I call back, and a really friendly lady answers. SURPRISE. My order was NOT received. She said they go through a third party for these, apologized several times, and said they would start the order right away. A few minutes later, Yelp sends me a notification asking how was my experience. A slap in the face TBH. Literally a few seconds later, another notice stating my order would arrive by 3:30. I was a tad fed up and I regretted ordering online. The food arrives on time at 3:30 after I flagged the delivery guy's car down. He steps out, says sorry. Hands me my food and I tried to make small talk. He says, "okay, goodbye." And hurries off. Thanks I guess? The food though. It was quite tasty! Like I said maybe my senses were heightened since we were famished. I could not stop eating! The garlic knots and garlic bread were good, a bit chewy though. My sausage and pepper parmigiana was delightful. I literally had to force myself to stop eating. The tiramisu was a great treat to make me a bit happy after my experience. I would honestly give Ops another shot since I honestly do not know who's at fault - the delivery notification or the restaurant. Though the delivery was a pain, the food made up for it. Will not return. Menu advertises chicken parmigiana as boneless chicken breast. What was delivered to the table was a chicken patty with cheese and sauce masquerading as what the menu offered.
