My friend Pete raves about this place, so I had to try it! We didn't have a reservation (didn't know you needed one) but was seated quickly. It was a Tuesday night and the place was packed. The place is very loud and the tables are on top of each other. The waiter was polite but took awhile for him to take drink orders but the place was packed. The menu has a small but decent selection with an even limited special menu. The wife and I ordered the Nachos for an appetizer and it quickly came out. Probably the best nachos I've had. Cheese, chopped up tomatoes, guacamole and fresh jalapeños. I ordered a French dip and my wife ordered a Chicken schnitzel. My wife loved her meal from the gravy, to the warm kale and the chicken with the ham on it. The French dip I was disappointed in. I had high expectations, especially since Karvers, I'm expecting good roast beef. Not so much...the beef was dried out, leftovers and the au jus didn't really help. I recently took my son to lunch at Karvers. The food and staff were off the charts ! Reservation was made and when we got there was ready and waiting ! Girls at the front desk are so inviting. We requested a high top booth which is by the bar. Again, we were accommodated. John did such an excellent job adhering to COVID protocol. Everything was clean, masks worn and he even took away all the chairs at the bar to avoid any gatherings. That in itself, gets my vote for a family friendly restaurant that cares about their community. Thank you John and staff for making us feel safe and feeding us the most delicious meal. And for all of your donations of food to first responders during the COVID shut down. You guys worked endlessly donating and delivering food to those that barely could take a break !! I've been meaning to get to Karvers for a while now, but havent had the opportunity. So when a group of friends decided to go out for a "date night" I jumped at the chance to suggest this place. After reviewing the menu online (which is pages long and chock full of amazing dishes) everyone agreed that this was the place. Now, we need to eat early to catch our movie, and there are 10 of us, so we make a reservation for 4:30. When we get there I'm expecting to find a half empty restaurant because, well, it's 4:30pm, but instead it's full and very busy. Glad we made a res. We wait no more than 5 minutes and are quickly seated. Our waiter was very attentive. He made very specific recommendations based on what we said we liked and he was dead on with all of them. We were a large party and they handled our orders as best you can hope for that big of a group. Some of the delicious food we tried: fried pickles, fried artichoke hearts, calamari, nachos, the Mardis Gras salad, steak, scallops, pasta, spare ribs.....everyone was happy and satisfied. My fiancé and I went there on a Sunday afternoon. The crab cakes were so good although I wish it came with a side sauce or more of the drizzled sauce on top. My fiancé had the pretzel app which was good too we didn't particularly like the sauce it came with. I made my own urger and my fiancé ordered one from the menu. Tonight was our first time at Karvers. My family and I had a fantastic experience. From the very first encounter with the hostess, till the end of our meal. Every staff member was attentive, and we truly had impeccable service. All of the food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. SWEET CAROLINE Wow, I'm not even sure where to begin with this review! Karvers Grille is seriously one of the best places I've gone out to eat in a long time, and that's saying a lot coming from someone who works in the industry! Caroline, our server, was one of the funniest, most appropriately attentive servers I've had in a really long time, and she truly made dinner feel like a white tablecloth kind of night. The interior is cozy and you can really tell the owner has put his all into making the restaurant look as good as it's food tastes! Well this place has earned a rare 5 star from this Yelper. Ended up here when the wait list at Outbacks was over an hour and I have no regrets. Came in and was seated Immediately. Service was lighting quick. The drinks and appetizers were on our table 5 minutes later. I had the Benedict Ribeye ( never even heard of this before ) with the vegetables and the potatoes. The meal hit a home run. The wife had the linguini and seafood and devoured the seafood in seconds. The linguini was enough for 2 people and most of it stayed behind ( the order was huge ). I really liked the decor and the vibe almost like having a great steak in a bar hidden away where everyone knows one another. The only thing that I can even put down that was a little bit negative but not enough to lower the 5 stars would be that the drinks are a little weak. 2 kamikazes and didn't feel a thing. Wife had 2 margaritas with the same results. But I am anxious to come back and give them a second chance to get that right. Let. We took my handicapped brother here for his birthday and had such a great experience. My brother loves to say hi to everyone! From the people who work there to everyone that walks by. The staff was so nice to him and even when we apologized knowing they were busy each and everyone who passed took the time to wish him a Happy Birthday and made him feel special. Our waitress Emily was great and made sure we all had drinks and that we all were enjoying our food. Tried calling to place an order but the message just kept on saying "they're on the phone, try calling back later." Tried calling the number many times but always the same message. Finally ordered online and the email said 20 to 40 minutes and if there's a problem they would call. Went there 30 minutes later and pulled up to the takeout parking space. One of the guys their said if they didn't call yet pull back and wait for the call. Waited for 45 min then asked someone what was the deal with the order. Said they were very busy. Waited another 30 to 40 minutes and finally got to talk to someone else and said oh it's ready. We tried pinging you. I said pinging me, the guy said he would call and so did the email. Had an excellent experience at Karvers. Had a reservation for 6:30, ended up having to wait almost 20 mins because the previous party hadn't left yet. TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT. Upon entering I passed a few tables with some great looking dishes. We had the mac & cheese fritters, Irish spring rolls, and fried calamari as starters. The fritters and calamari were great but the spring rolls stole the show. Everything I like wrapped into an roll! Highly recommended. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to eat but ended up splitting a Baja Burger and a Karvers Burger with my dad. Both burgers were excellent, with really great and creative toppings. Our service was great as well, with helpful and timely staff. At one point we had the owner come to our table and and ask how we were doing. We spoke with him for a few minutes and he made sure to tell us to let him know if we needed anything. Very friendly and helpful. I know this is a really bold statement, but in it's class of casual dining, Karvers is definitely one of the best restaurants on Long Island. There's several factors and so many details to take into account when really considering a rating but to me, these are the ones that really keep me coming back. First, atmosphere. The atmosphere is perfect for just about anything casual. First date, causal lunch/dinner, family dining, drinks after work... Keep in mind, the bar area especially Happy Hour times, do tend to be loud, but that's a given. The music is always great, as everyone is always kind of bopping their head or singing to classic tunes that everyone knows and loves. The seating is comfortable and spacious, to where you're not sitting on top of your neighbor. The warm wood decor is inviting with just dim-enough lighting; perfect to where I don't need sunglasses but can still see the food in my plate. Several TV's are going with 2 or 3 various sports games/shows but at the same time, positioned in a way that they're not distracting. My husband and I love the booths at the bar because they're much higher, and have very comfortable foot rests. Then, service. I like to use OpenTable before coming to Karvers, even if it's just last minute. When we walk in, the hostesses check us in and are happy to seat us at our requested booth at the bar, even if we have to wait a few minutes for one. The bartenders are very quick and make incredible cocktails. I had a coconut margarita tonight that was just delicious. One we are seated, the wait staff is super friendly and area already bringing menu's and water to the table. They're fast, informative on the menu, never keep you waiting for anything, and are always thorough and correct with the orders. If the kitchen does make a mistake, they're very quick to offer a change or rectify the issue without hesitation. Next, management. I think the managers name is Franco. What a great guy. He's such a hands-on manager that truly appreciates your business. He's always running around the place saying hello to people, asking if everything is going well, running dishes to/from kitchen and overall just making sure your're happy at his place of business. Truly a hard worker and very professional. The Drinks. My husband loves the extensive list of beers on tap. I always love the cocktails. They're always the perfect combination of not too sweet, the right amount of ice, and alcohol. Happy hour is Monday-Friday until 7pm, when there's $2 off specialty cocktails but I never make it in time to take advantage of it. The Food. In a word, outstanding. We've been coming to Karvers since they opened a few years ago and we were just saying tonight upon our visit, how we've never have a bad meal here, let alone a mediocre one. Overtime we're at Karvers we rave to each other how amazing the food is. Tonight I started with the the Mussels Fra Diavolo appetizer and between each mussel I slurped down, I would tell my husband how they were the best mussels I've had in years! Hub started with the boneless wings and didn't say 2 words to me while he was eating because his mouth was stuffed. I had the Shrimp Tequila salad from the Black Board Specials menu and it was incredible! I'll be craving it for the next 2 weeks now, I'll try to do the copycat recipe at home and fail miserably... My husband had the Karvers Burger entree with the homemade chips and he said it was amazing. I did try the chips though, they're always sooooo good. They're big slices of fried potato slices and they're so crispy and tasty. It's such a nice, unique touch that Karvers offers. Fries are so basic and standard everywhere, the homemade chips are where it's at. Lastly, value. Between a few drinks, 2 appetizers and 2 entrees I think we spent $70. Though cooking is one of my first loves, I couldn't make dinner at home for 2, for less than that and I don't have to cook and clean up afterwards. Additionally, portion sizes are generous and priced very fairly. I honestly don't have the slightest negative thing to say about Karvers, or even any suggestions. This place is one of my go to spots. They have a great variety of food. The staff is always so nice. The food is always great.

Ate here several times, food is pretty good most visits. Hiccups here and there but nothing new for a restaurant. Ultimately why Karver's is getting a 1 star review isn't due to the service or food itself but because of how management treats their employees. I've seen multiple instances where management has been extremely rude and nasty towards their servers/bussers/hosts in front of tables. Doesn't sit well with me to give money to a business after hearing the things that are said to their staff. Won't be going back here read more

OK, as I've stated before...food is VERY GOOD if they get it correctly. Ordered many times to go, and either something is missing or not cook as ordered. Well, Went again tonight, dined in. My wife & I ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. It was absolutely great! Highly recommend. We both Ordered the skirt steak, very good as well. HOWEVER, THE PORTIONS sizes of the steak were so small I was staving after I ate! I had to order ANOTHER appetizer after I just ate an appetizer AND dinner! Pricey for the portion sizes. This Saturday 2/26/22 .The food was good ,however the Rushed service is going ruin the word of mouth recommendations. I thought the first time i visited Karvers the rushed service was just one of those nights. On multiple occasions we were rushed in ordering , receiving appetizers and before finishing, the meal was brought to the table ,as we finished our meal we were asked if we needed anything for dessert .When we declined our check was promptly placed on our table .You guys need to slow down the pace. We picked from here last night. The ambiance was nice, but if a rustic feel. We ordered the fettuccine alfredo, mac n cheese with pulled pork and a mardi gras salad. Me and my friend both got the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and we both thought it was lacking. They made the sauce very thing and I prefer a thick creamy sauce. I thought the tomatoes would be diced but there were chunks of tomato which would work with a tomato sauce but not alfredo. The best thing about this dish we're the random chunks of cheese throughout and I wish they had put more. The mac and cheese with the pulled pork looked bomb and my sister in law said she enjoyed it. All in all I would try this place again and maybe go for something more along the lines of BBQ. read more
