Just had an early dinner here this afternoon with my husband. Since we are moving to the area from Queens, we wanted to try some local restaurants that we could establish as our new "regular" spots. First Impression: Busy restaurant for 4pm with an extensive menu. The hostess was quick to greet us and waited for us to sit before handing us our menus. Table had black pepper spilled on it but that is okay. I always wipe the table down with a wet one. Service: Caroline was amazing! If this review was based on service alone it would be 5 stars! Our drinks were never empty. She suggested the perfect beer for my husband and asked if he wanted a second beer for his entree before he could even ask for it. Food: Fried Pickles - We LOVE fried pickles so we were excited to order this appetizer. It was ehhh at best - kind of flat. The batter has dill which was nice but it lacked maybe salt? I just was not impressed and would not order this again. Table over from us had the Irish Spring Rolls and it looked really good. I think we just ordered the wrong appetizer. Short Rib Sandwich with Chips - Hubby said it was just alright. The description said braised short ribs so he was expecting a type of sauce the meat was cooked in but he said the meat came off greasy. He topped his sandwich with cole slaw and it helped to cut the grease. Meat to bread ratio was good. Chips were delicious! French Dip - HOLY BREAD! I asked for my bread to be scooped out and unfortunately it was not. Caroline got it right because when she came to check on us she asked if they remembered to do it. I told her it was fine and took off the top piece. The brisket was moist but it was difficult to eat because the meat was chopped. It almost resembled ground meat. The au jus was VERY salty. Salty enough to make me extremely thirsty. After a few bites with the au jus I just decided not to use it. This was disappointing. I agree with my husband on the cole slaw - it helped my sandwich taste better but I really just did not enjoy it. I decided to order some mozzarella cheese on my fries. Another disappointment for me... there was only a little bit of cheese on the very top and half of it was burnt black. I worked in food service for years and just never send food back. I just ate around those areas. A woman sitting behind my husband also ordered the same sandwich and I noticed she didnt even eat half and did not take her leftovers. Her dining partner tasted it and did not take a second bite. Final Thoughts: Maybe we ordered all the wrong things on the menu. I just did not think today's visit was worth $60+. I may have to try this place again in the future. read more

Waitress was sweet but not consistent. Too long for drinks to be brought. Apps were good (french onion soup and crab cakes ala restaurant depot). Mac and cheese was good but it should be Mac in a pool of cheese. It was in a puddle of loose liquid. Burger was decent enough with a good taste and nice char on the outside. Seems very ordinary food wise. Waitress bad with math or sly as a fox. Will give her benefit of the doubt. Don't know that if go back. Wasn't great but wasn't bad read more

Wow , Regular customer who has had parties here . I Came in for dinner at 4:15 and asked for a booth because there were at least three open . The hostess said she could only sit us at a table , that booths are for larger parties . She didn't even say "let me check with a manager" . There were three empty booths !!! Welp you just lost my business tonite and probably the future . Your hostess should definitely be more hostful . I don't know how a hostess lets business walk out your door at 4:15 read more

We had a party of 15 to celebrate my sister in law graduating from her master's program. Our part of the table ordered the calamari, nachos, and the buffalo chicken dip, which were excellent. Our entrees were the Mac & cheese with buffalo chicken and the stuffed pork chop which were delicious. My wife and her sister ordered salads and that's where the problems came in. The bleu cheese tasted sour... You shouldn't feel it so strongly in your nose. We sent the salads back and the manager promptly came out to tell us that it wasn't bad, that it was fresh and both he and the cook tried it. The manager telling us we were basically wrong set a bad taste in what otherwise would have been a good evening of decent food. Even if he said something along the lines of "I'm sorry you don't like our bleu cheese," we would have been fine, but the way he handled it dropped this review from a 4 to a 2. While the owner came by at the very end of our visit to apologize, the manager's poor customer service had already left a pretty bad taste in our mouths--literally in the case of the two of us who had the gross bleu cheese. read more

My bf and I went last night for the first time and we were not disappointed! The restaurant was packed but we didn't have a wait. The manager and waitress were very friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. Beer selection was good - we like craft beers and they had a good amount of them. Oh and the food! I got the BLT with fries. SO MUCH BACON. So good! My bf got the quinoa salad and said it was delicious. We will be revisiting Karvers and you should too! read more

Came here the other night on a whim bc my gf had a gift card. Server was very sweet and attentive. -we had the pretzel as an appetizer sooo good with three diff dips - my gf got the buffalo sandwich I didn't have any but she said it was good only complaint was that it was little heavy on the buff sauce - I had the short rib sandwich which was deliciousssss!!! Stopped in last week and was blown away by the service. Food was good but the server we had was amazing. I wish i remembered her name.

I love the drinks here but the food and wait service? Not so much. The first time we hate here over 2 years ago the my chicken dish was bland and we had to send back the burger 2x. I tried again in August 2018 since it was only my youngest son and I. We were going to go to the diner but tried Karvers again. He had the chicken kebobs and I the soft shell crab, it was highly recommended by the waiter. The kebobs were good but the crab dish was terrible. The servers were nice but not very attentive. We waited about 15 minutes or 5 tic tac toe & 4 hangman games , before getting our drinks and placing the order. I'll be back for a cocktail & wings only. read more

We have not had a bad meal yet! It is now our go to place or our go to take out place! The burgers are so big and delicious. My daughter loves going here for date nights together. Can get busy on the weekend but what good place doesn't. If your in the area definitely give it a try. read more

We've been to Karvers before and had a great experience, but last night was not the case. My husband had the skirt steak and I ordered the Karvers Artisan burger. The skirt steak was served lukewarm and I was served the wrong burger. By the time I got the correct burger, my husband was done with his meal. I also had the pineapple jalapeño margarita which was $10 and had very little tequila in it. When we got the bill, NOTHING was done to make up for the mixup. We had to ask the manager to do something for us, so he took off 10% and offered us free coffee and dessert. We should NOT have had to ask for an adjustment. The management knew of the mixup and should have been proactive. read more

The good: Service is friendly and attentive. The decor is attractive, and the craft beer and cocktail offerings are nice. The bad: The food is not very good. We had the loaded fries for an app, and the queso wasn't very good. It tasted like it had been held in a warmer for way too long. Lunch entrées were the Margarita flatbread which was okay, and a French dip, which was awful. The meat completely shredded, which makes dipping impossible, and the bread was completely soggy, which made eating it as a sandwich completely impossible. This place is awesome! The food is incredible, as is the service. Yes, you may have to wait on a weekend night, but that's only because it's so good! The location has been a few other "dive" bars in the past, but Karvers is definitely not a dive. The food has more of a gastro pub feel. They also have a back room for larger parties. Sometimes we go just to sit and the bar and watch a game. Everyone there is so nice. We even went there with another couple and the wife is super annoying when she orders...and usually sends the food back. This time she didn't lol! We were all in shock. Went for dinner twice and was not blown away. It's always so packed and you should make a reservation if you don't want to wait 40 min. First time we ordered apps and got beers- kind of expensive. Ordered nachos the second time and they were cold which was a disappointment. Our main dishes were just okay. Probably won't be back. read more

The best Gastro pub around. However you will wait online for about an hour and a half on weekends. They have the best drink menu, I would recommend getting a blood orange Cosmo. They have a terrific short rib for dinner or any appetizer is very good. This is a small local restaurant that many people have found to love.If you have the chance to eat here then you are lucky, but make sure you go early. read more

Second year in a row that we had our Christmas party here. Roughly 12-16 people. The food is on point. Staff is amazing. Highly recommend.

Service: 5/5 - our waitress was great! She was very attentive and really wanted her customers to have a good experience. Drinks: 1/5 - My mom got a Ketel 1 cosmo and as easy as that sounds, it came out disgusting... way too much cranberry juice and absolutely no vodka. It was remade and came out a little better. I got the "Melon Sour" and it tasted like nothing but cheap sour mix. I do NOT recommend. Then, my mom got a Titos and soda...pretty simple, but again very weak. The bartender on tonight seemed very inexperienced and didn't take time to perfect each individual drink. Food: 2/5 - Calamari came out extra crispy and it was delicious! The marinara sauce was very flavorful. My brother and I got the mac and cheese burger which both were very bland and had little to no flavor. The french fries were cold and hard exactly like old McDonald's fries. Gross. I do not recommend. My mom is a crab cake fanatic, and these were disappointing. They should rename them to "filler cakes" because that's all they consisted of. You could taste absolutely no crab. The manager walked around the whole night, but NOT ONCE did she come over to our table or ask about our meals/experience. It was like she was scared to make eye contact with the customers. read more

Service by our waitress Cat was great! Not overbearing or nosy. She was kind and helpful, asking if me and my fiance had any questions. And she made sure our drinks stayed topped off which was a definite plus. I recommend the strawberry banana loconut colada. So good. Service was quick, even though there had been few empty tables. We went at 7, and immediately noticed the noise. It was Sunday night however and football was on. The food was great. Fried calamari was hot and crispy and tender. I had the French dip sandwich which was AMAZING. My fiance had the Buffalo Mac and cheese and he was impressed by the creaminess and also the flavor. Went there for a bite and beers, Ordered beers and food, after about 45 minutes the waiter shift was changing so the waiter let us know he was leaving and dropped the check at the table. He said if we needed anything further it would be the next shift. We figured he was just looking for his tip so we paid him and continued. We went to order another drink and were told we needed to order food? We had just eaten a meal and never asked to close the check. The new waitress then became nasty and sent over the manager, he then said we further would have to not only order food again but would have to get up and get re-seated. This is really bad business and not a way to treat customers. My friends are local and we said we will never be back due to this incident. read more

Very lackluster at least with what I ordered. They charged me $8 for a small snifter of beer and the burger was ok and the fries were dry and they sucked. I have to say that I felt kind of rushed. 2 different people came to our table and asked if they can take our plate when I was still picking and hanging out. They also were a little pushy for me to order when I was still looking at the menu. I was offered more time to order but they came back within 2 minutes. Relax! Karvers is a nice place to enjoy lunch with friends. It has a nice bar atmosphere for happy hour as well. The lunch comes with a soup or salad and I always have a hard decision choosing which one is better! Their wraps are phenomenal and their sweet potato fries are delicious!
