I HAD to do an updated review. My last review was within weeks of their opening. Katana Kitchen keeps blowing my mind on the different types of dishes in their menu. This is exactly what statesville needed. You can NOT go wrong with any dish on their menu. I hope local restaurants catch up on what Katana is doing by bringing in different dishes and not just the ordinary. Tommy will look for the best quality to make every plate a memorable one. Going to Katana is always a pleasure, you get great food, awesome service and the atmosphere is welcoming. You come in and order up front then take a seat and your food is brought to you. I went to try the limited time bubble waffle they were having and let me tell you, it was one of the best desserts I've ever had in Statesville. Unfortunately the bubble waffle is limited time only although I'm glad I had the chance to try it! I ate here for the first time a week ago and have eaten there everyday since. It's that good. I have had popcorn shrimp, popcorn chicken, the classic tuna poke bowl and dynamite poke bowl. Everything is so fresh and delicious and the portions are perfect. Every dish has so much flavor and just the right spice. I'm pretty hung up on the dynamite poke bowl but can't wait to try some of the other dishes. I also love that you can pick up your order at the window without going in. Really good food. Their menu allows you to customize your meal very easily. It just opened this year and they are always packed. I have been several times. My order has gotten mixed up a couple of times but they always make it right. Finding them can be a little tricky because they are down a side road past CVS right before you get into a residential neighborhood. Their parking lot is not nearly big enough. They do have a drive-through. I highly recommend giving them a try. I do not think you'll be disappointed. read more

I came here with my boyfriend and we started off with chicken dumplings . I the hibachi steak with zucchini and lo mein and my boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken with broccoli. The hibachi steak was really good and everything was cooked right nothing over or undercooked ,I did end up using some extra soy sauce just cause I like my food a little saltier but it still tastes great without it and the portions are pretty big! I tried some of my boyfriend's and I'm surprised the chicken was just as good as the steak. It wasn't heavily drenched in the sauce but it wasn't dry either ,it was just right.He ending up getting rice which was good too. We also got a miso soup to share. The miso was a little bland and a little watery but I added some salt and made it taste better, it was super busy so I wasn't upset at all since they had a lot going on. For dessert we ending up getting the fried Oreos and they were really good! The price for the food is fair and ordering at the front was easy. We ending up getting menus at the front then ordering there at the counter and they bring your food to you. read more

Ate at Katana 2 days ago and were greeted with friendly smiles at the door as we rolled in. We had the Double Dragon Bowl and the Samurai Salmon Bowl, both were excellent; fresh, flavorful and a perfect portion. Can't say enough how great the customer service was, they were attentive but not obtrusive. Would eat here at least a few times a month if we lived in the area! It's right off of Route 40, plenty of easy parking.....go here for a quick and delicious meal if you are driving thru Statesville!! read more

So, I have eaten here once before and thought nothing of it. Seemed fairly typical for your Asian/American fare around this area. I went back today and made the comment to my SO that I am always surprised to see so many cars in the parking lot when I have driven by here. Today, we went inside instead of taking carry out. The restaurant is clean! This was the first thing I noticed. Ordering was easy and the cashier seemed pleasant. I ordered the Double Dragon Poke bowl and my SO ordered what she always orders at Asian restaurants. Chicken with rice, no veggies. Astounds me how we actually find places to eat together...but, we have thrived for years. Anywho-- The meal came out and was neat and tidy. I really liked the style Katana's is portraying. Everything seemed organized and clean. First thing first----The rice---It was great! I am fairly snooty when it comes to rice and know the different textures and nuttiness of varying rice. The sushi rice they used was perfect for this meal. The tastes that mingled within the bowl was balanced. I was very skeptical about a "Deconstructed sushi" meal and made that statement out loud to my SO. In actuality, it may have enhanced it. I really enjoyed seeing and eating the ingredients this way. I asked the lady who brought our food to the table for more wasabi, and she gave me two extra containers. This made me happy. I guess she could see it in my eyes that I was a professional wasabi taster. This wasabi was the final reason why I am giving a full 5 stars. The wasabi was fresh! I know we really can't find real wasabi in America, but I at least knew that this wasabi was freshly made. My nose tingled and my sinuses stood at attention waiting for the next command. All in all, the meal was quick, clean and delicious. I will go again and mix it up. I would love to have the option to get sushi rolls though, but eating the bowls still appeased my appetite and taste buds. Edit: She paid for our meal from our slot winnings down at Kings Mountain casino. Lucky me and a shout out to that one slot machine in the back that paid out. This ones for you! read more

Food was pretty good but the quantity of meat you get is a little. They fill your bowl with rice and the meat/veggie portion is small.

Came here today for the first time with my fiancé and I really love it a lot! It's different from their other location. But I love how they have poke bowls here! Not too big or not too small. Went here tonight for date night with boyfriend and were blown away by how great the food was !! I had the hibachi steak and shrimp and it was absolutely delicious ! Comes in a huge bowl and is accompanied by side salad and soup . Boyfriend had the Double Dragon poke bowl and he loved it ! Presentation was beautiful on it and the taste was amazing . They even serve fried apple wontons with ice cream for dessert . Service is awesome and they were very attentive to our drinks and whatever we needed. Super nice . Great restaurant, overall the food was delicious. The prices were definitely good. The reason we didn't give this restaurant 5 stars was due to the parking situation. We have gone twice when the entire parking lot was full so we left and went elsewhere. The last time we went a week ago. There was one spot left so we grabbed it and when we went inside there were barely any customers. The inside did not reflect what the parking lot showed. When we asked one of the associates they told us they have it of employees and they park in the same lot as customers. I would suggest the manager/owner have employees park elsewhere so customers can park. This situation lost our business twice already. read more

Like Chipotle you order what you want in your bowl, pay, and it is served to your table. I had Hibachi Scallops and Shrimp. It was tasty but expensive for the amount of protein, 6 med shrimp 2 scallops for $14.99. Way high for Statesville living. Probably won't visit again. Waited a long time for this restaurant to reopen because, I missed their authentic hibachi grill, while the flavors are somewhat there, the cost was outrageous. read more

Husband and I ate here on the way home from Asheville. Our intention was to go to Arby's but they were closed, I assume due to the snow. McDonalds was wrapped around the building. While sitting in their drive thru we saw this place and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! The food was great! We probably spent less here than we would have at McDonald's, $22 for two of us.
