Stopped here on a Sunday morning around 9:30 and got a table right away. Server was super nice. We had the corned beef hash and huevos rancheros. Both were really tasty, the corn beef was not too salty (like most places) and had good texture to it (crispy on the outside) and the coffee was strongggg and good!! Cute inside - very eclectic and homey feel. Prices were very normal for this area, actually even cheaper than some breakfast places in Montrose. Would recommend. read more

We left out of Ouray with the intent of finding a good breakfast place in Ridgeway. We found Kate's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We both had pretty standard breakfast fare (eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns...). They were SLAMMED but the waitstaff did a reasonable job of keeping up and getting food out while keeping our coffee refilled. The food was very good and prepared the way we asked (eggs as ordered and hashbrowns crispy!). I recommend but you may catch a wait on weekends as they seem popular with the locals and Yelp brings in the travelers.... read more

Lunch at Kate's Place was a great way to celebrate finishing the Blue Lakes Trail! We were able to get a table on the patio that was wonderfully shaded by a big tree. They also allow dogs on the patio! I had the tuna sandwich with home fries and my friend the Cuban sandwich. The tuna was good, classic recipe with no strange ingredients added! So happy they don't have raisins or grapes in their tuna! The bread was a thick wheat, you get a choice of bread and it is slightly toasted. The home fries are really where it's at. They were awesome, cooked in butter and crispy. So good. The Cuban sandwich was also good, maybe not as great as Little Havana in Miami but what are you expecting in the middle of more here?!? Sunday in October, 11am-ish. Let's start with the food - it was mediocre and disappointing given the cafe's reputation. Typical breakfast fare: eggs over medium (too jiggly and undercooked); hash browns, crispy throughout - what happens when you fry them more than once; link sausage, same problem - over heated or kept in a warming tray; toast, warm and crispy-dry but not toasted. I'm thinking that the cook was either in over his/her head or just not watching the ingredients. Prompt and attentive service, decent coffee, and cute little interior with good photo artwork. Worth $15? Nope. Go to Ouray or the other cafe down the street. read more

One of my favorite places for food in Ridgway. I hate being negative when the food is so good but there has got to be a better way to serve customers. Waited for menus, drinks, refillls etc. the place has amazing food but this is not the first time I have watched multiple customers either complain for refills, to order or just plan basic check in/service or closing tabs. I will continue to go back out of love for the area and hard working staff but some of the staff need to be replaced. Alternatively have an additional staff member serve customers to see about basic things and it would be better. Keep this place desirable to go to as it has a great experience overall but come on owners make the changes to keep customers happy. It doesn't take much. read more

They were short-staffed and still found a seat for us and we were served pretty quickly. We split the rib-eye sandwich and it was superb! We definitely will be back for breakfast sometime soon. read more

This was a live & learn breakfast. Food was ok - when we finally got it... We waited 30+ minutes for eggs, potatoes and toast while others around us came in, ordered and got their food and left. Maybe she forgot to put our order in? Would have been good to check in and let us know! This place was a recommended by a friend as a back up choice. Their first recommendation was for Provisions across the street - we were too early for them so we picked this place. Lesson learned. read more

LOVE THIS SPOT: I stayed in Ridgway for 2 months and was recommended to this spot. I want to start by saying the food is AMAZING (especially the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and Breakfast Sandwich); I pretty much ate here every morning. I'd also like to add that the waitresses and staff were great. There were many days I went in when it was super busy but Kendra always took care of me; even after dealing with some rude af customers (as a pregnant woman working there, I have no idea how she keeps calm). I noticed it getting busier towards the end of my stay. It's a small business and now a hot spot for foodies so be sure to tip well and be kind to all the staff (especially on the busy days). People were very nice. They were supposed to open at 7:00am did not open till 7:15. We had high expectations of the food with all the good yelp reviews. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing . Our biscuits and gravy was cold, our eggs were cooked wrong, the grits were cold on top and warm on the bottom. We said something to the waitress and she did nothing to correct the issue except say "Sorry". The food that was good was just OK. I think we probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

The hype is not as great as the food. The breakfast wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. We had to move from one corner to another because there was a swarm of flies, that's not a good sign for me. The waitress was great, nice and friendly, but like I said, it's mostly hyped. All that said, there aren't many places to have breakfast there, the best dinner place was closed on that day, and closes early, Provisions ..., and they have a great little coffee house in that town. read more

We were struggling because most places were closed on Wednesday morning and we were hungry. We ended up here. I had the lunch special they let me get it for breakfast it was delicious! My sister's sandwich initially came wrong with ham and without avocado. We felt bad to bother them because they're super busy and one waitress was handling everything (really well). Lemon blueberry Ricotta pancakes! Three good size pancakes, I almost finished them because they were so light and fluffy! Went to this place again and was pleasantly surprised with 2nd choice of Steffels skillet, probably the best breakfast ever! So have been 2 x in the last month I think they must have lost their cook We ordered lemon ricotta pancakes They were hard and thin , no ricotta as I could see I orders spring salad with salmon So salad out of a package Skimmed on the pecans and feta Salmon is now 4 oz not 6 Drenched in dressing and 30 minutes to wait Husband got the omelette which was fine but no taste So post Covid Long waits Mediocre food and less And 45.00 So sad cuz it use to be good read more

My husband and I came to Kate's Place for breakfast. My husband had a cheese omelette and since I was somewhat ill I ordered toast and iced tea. I received one piece of slightly warm bread as toast. Our waitress didn't even offer butter so we had to ask her. She was barely interested in our table. Didn't come back after plopping food down until it was time to leave the ticket.
