I used to rave about this place, and it has just consistently gone down hill over the last year. The flavors of the dishes change almost every time I order. Last time we ordered it the lamb saag, that was just "it" for us. I feel an ingredient was left entirely out, as it tasted overwhelmingly "creamy." Not in a good way. Like sip out of a heavy whipping cream container and there's your saag. It didn't even look to be "overcreamed" either so we we were weirded out. The time before that, I got paneer saag, and the paneer was really weird, really chewy, like overcooked. Chicken momo's were bland AF this time too. The pakoras were off too, they used to be crispy, these were bigger and sort of mushy. Vegetable samosa was on point, hot and crispy. That was the extent of the goodness. NO MASKS. I used to love this place. To support local restaurants, I placed a larger than necessary order, and added a good tip even though pick up. When I got there, order not yet ready, and as the person opened the doors to the kitchen, you could see staff (about 4 or 5) cooking and talking. NONE were wearing masks. I pointed this out, the gentleman apologized and advised he'd inform the staff. He did go back there. 5-10 min later, when my order came out, you could again see into the kitchen: NO ONE was wearing a mask. I won't be going back. Too bad. Now I feel I have reheat (and overcook) the meal to kill any germs. They tout "touch-less" delivery - what about talking in the kitchen with no masks, as you prepare our food???? read more

Love, love, love Kathmandu! They serve best Indian food I have ever eaten. We frequently order through their website for delivery and the food always arrives hot and before the time they say. The chicken tiki masala and sag paneer is easily 2-3 meals given the large portions. We tried the chicken samosa (2 to an order) which were huge! And the onion naan is a generous as well. I moved about a four years ago from the DC area, and whenever I crave great Indian food this is where I go. I noticed that in the Baltimore area there aren't a lot of choices. Upon moving to Towson and doing my first dry run around my area (just to see what was around) I saw the sign for this place. Kept it in mind until I decided to order delivery. I never had Indian delivery, not even in DC or the VA area. Well, I made my order of Chicken Saag and Chicken Makhni, the last one is better known to most Americans as Butter chicken. The receptionist was quite pleasant and I ordered my food, 40 minutes I was told. So I ran to the wine store to get myself some nice wine to go with my food....I ordered extra hot, plus wine it a requirement with a good meal. When I arrived, about 20 minutes after my original call, the food had already arrived. Fortunately he had just gotten there as well. I laid out my food and smelled the delicious spices. I could have not asked for better. I must truly say, the best Indian I have ever had, including all those sit down places I frequented when I lived in Fairfax, Va (tons of Indian there to pick from). Additionally I have a few Indian foodie friends that have recommended great places, but this one really tops them all at least in America. The Makhni (butter) chicken was well spiced and hot, even my friend (not a hot food lover) loved its flavours. The chicken saag, my friend's dish was to die for as well, its creamy spinach was mouth watering. Everything was so well prepared and so fresh to my taste buds. This place is the "IT" for Indian. This initial visit will prove quite dangerous for me. I have finally found the place where to get my so loved Indian food. Kathmandu is a great place. Its atmosphere and food is very ethnic. When eating at Kathmandu understand you are going to an ethnic restaurant. Not some sort of american indian boujwa. The restaurant itself is very quiet, so if your someone who is loud and obnoxious this isnt the place for you. The food is fantastic. The chicken curry is one of my favorites. The lunch buffet is also a great inexpensive idea. I would highly recommend this place for Indian food lovers. read more

Warm and welcoming place with excellent food at a good price. Never got delivery but we do take out almost weekly. We aren't vegetarians but with so many great veg dishes we usually order one chicken and one veg. Child loves the sheesh kebab (ground lamb in little bullets) and naan. Tasty curries, great desserts (yay rice pudding and gulab!) for such a great price!! Curries are great tasting- creamy, not skimpy on vegetables or meat, and delicious. Service is pretty good too, they refill your glasses and the food tray pretty often. The location is perfect too and there's plenty of parking across the street. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm Good Food!! The decor of this place is out-dated, but the food is excellent. Went here on a Saturday night aroudn 8pm and it was not crowded at all! The waiter was very attentive in filling up our water, which was great since I was drinking water like no other! We got vegetable samosas for an app and split our entrees. Chicken curry is great and I love how they ask you if you would like it prepared mild, medium or spicy! It was very delicious and the price was reasonable. I came here for dinner with one other person. It was my first time having Indian food. As an appetizer we had cheesy naan bread and vegetable samosas. As an entree I had the chicken tikka masala and a mango lassi to drink. The food was great, the service both prompt and attentive (they will never let you see the bottom of your water glass). Portions were ample, and we left with leftovers. Prices are super reasonable. I would definitely recommend Kathmandu Kitchen. We will be back when we are in the area again. read more

My go-to Indian joint. There's never anybody in here, and I can't figure out why. Service is doting, but not intrusive. Food is generally excellent quality. Ambiance is maybe a little weak, but the only real drawback here is that parking sucks in Towson. read more

I've walked by this place so many times and never knew what a treasure it was! service was prompt and friendly and the food was AMAZING. everything that hit the table was perfect. I got the lamb korma the complimentary lentil wafers and accompanying sauces were soooo good. and this place is BYOB so we got to enjoy a nice red wine with our meals. it's quiet and right in the middle of the hub of Towson but you'd never know it. This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the northern Baltimore/Baltimore County area. That being said, it's also pretty much the only one I order from with any frequency and have been a loyal customer for the last 8 or so years. They have consistently good dishes and they have a really great korma. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awful and sort of typical of awkward Indian restaurants but I've only actually eaten there once. read more

Was in Towson for business. There are a ton of chains in the area and I was looking for something a little more local. This is a cute, locally owned restaurant. Kathmandu Kitchen has some of the best Indian food I've ever had in the area. Their sauces always seem to be perfectly spiced, and they have delicious naan. While it is true there aren't many other options in the area for Indian food, I believe even if there was I would end up coming back here anyway. The only criticism I would have of the restaurant is the decor, which I find slightly off-putting, but I'm normally too busy shoveling chicken and naan into my mouth to notice. read more

I've tried several different dishes which have all been good but my favorite is the lamb saag. The servers are typically nice and the atmosphere is quiet. They advertise on their door "vegan and vegetarian friendly". Being a vegan family, we were drawn to this. We had a lengthy conversation with the server and came up with vegan options. After about 10 minutes they came back saying they cook their rice with butter but just a little butter. When you have a vegan diet, just a little butter makes something not vegan. They need to take their sign off the door. I'm giving two stars because they offered to make fresh rice without butter that took 25 minutes. This review is based on the lunch buffet, on a Sunday, at around 2pm. They stop the buffet, I think, at 3pm. So, you might say, "You deserve what you get for going to an Indian buffet late(ish) on a Sunday." Then, I might say, "the naan was dry and hard, and was not replenished when we took the last two. Neither were the pakoras replenished. The tikka masala sauce was gluey in texture. The lamb dish was overcooked and bland. The chana was good, as was the korma. There was a broccoli dish and a chicken curry which both tasted more like something you'd find at a Chinese buffet." Based on that experience, I would either seek out one of the many other interesting-looking restaurants in the area, or go to one of the many better Indian restaurants in the Baltimore area. read more

I wanted indian food and decided to try this place out. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer along with some naan. The food was meh - average; It was good, but not amazing like I'm used to back home. I had it delivered. It got here on time, but even if it didn't I wouldn't judge them based on that like other people do. Chicken Tikka Masala: Big pieces of tandoori chicken. The chicken was flavorful, but I felt that the sauce itself was missing that hit of spices. It was just too bland for me. Maybe I should've ordered it spicy or extra spicy. Saag Paneer: This was a huge disappointment. It had no flavor whatsoever. I barely touched it, but I will have to finish it since I paid $12(?) for it! Naan: Great. You can't really mess up naan. I actually like it better on the thin and crunchy side, but I love naan regardless how soft, thin, crunchy it is. Their naan was soft. One order has 4 pieces. Both dishes above came with a huge serving of rice. They added some garnishes on top which smelled amazing when I opened it. But the dishes itself came in a pint size container. My boyfriend went for dinner and loved it. The left overs he brought me were fantastic! We went for the buffet and it was good. I'm not a huge fan of buffets, though, since I'm vegetarian and am not familiar enough with Indian food to be able to tell what has meat in it or not. We gotten gotten carry out from here on many occasions. But every time the meal had been excellent. Our favorite is the shrimp sag. They always ask how spicy and we go for medium, which is perfect.
