We decided to try this restaurant as we love Nepalese/Indian food and this place was not it. Terrible and slow service and seemed they were just busy doing other things. They kept asking if the food was good and we said no. They still didn't seem to care. Very tasteless masala and watery. The Momos were just not edible and felt frozen. Also, no real flavor and chewy. The vibe seemed very run down and needs some updating. Just will not return to this restaurant. Poor quality food overall.

This is an absolutely MUST TRY restaurant. Great Vegan options as well as meat dishes, but be prepared to experience overcooked meat per usual Indian standards. Regardless, there are many offerings to enjoy the Nepalese style cuisine. I loved their curries and especially the sweet potato curry! I added their hot chili sauce and HOLY HOTNESS BATMAN!! That stuff really spiced it up!! Their mint chutney was terrific and the naan was yummy too. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and there was a very nice man who spoke very little to no English who showed us to our table. Overall, it was a good experience.

i've driven by this place a lot before but hadn't eaten here originally until today. i came in for the lunch buffet which ended up being about $40 for 2 people. there was a wide variety or indian/nepalese food and sauces to choose from. the foods had gluten free or vegan labels on them. as for the food, it wasn't anything amazing. it was horrible but i don't feel the need to come back. found a hair in the chicken but could have been mine i guess. overpriced for the taste of the food. it was also extremely quiet in the restaurant with no music or anything like that in the background. the waiters were nice and attentive and they had good water.

This place is so good! I love everything on the buffet, greatly appreciate knowing what does and does not contain gluten,and the great variety! Every single dish is unique in its flavor profile & each hits its notes with grace. My picky picky 14 year old ate more vegetables here than I've ever seen him eat in his life! Menu items are also perfect! The chicken momos were a great meal for the kiddo. I came back on a Thursday alone after dining with the family on a weekend, and let me tell you- even better the second time! Different items on buffet (but my favorites were still there!) I'm really pleased with everything about this place!

Food was great - got the lunch buffet (~$15...I found the price out finally when I paid. If you go for lunch they have never given me a menu lol I think it's a known lunch buffet place so they don't bother with menus) They are a family owned vibe, everyone was nice. Only complaint was a fruit fly in my water cup, I'm assuming it's just because the pitchers of water were prefilled on the tables and the doors were open because it was a beautiful fall day. Regardless of the fly, I will be back. Best nann I've had and the fried spinach is a new fav!

Yummy Indian food buffet. Stopped in for the first time last Sunday. Located behind Trader Joe's and near Target. The food was good. They had a great selection of items to please everyone in our party. Both dairy and nondairy saag. I enjoyed the chai tea and Chili Chicken the most. I did have issue however with some of the items not being hot enough and actually a few dishes were still cold when they should not have been. As if they were placed out cold on the buffet table to heat. Also minus a star for the awful sewage smell in the bathroom. They must have ongoing plumbing issues because 3 air fresheners were visible but doing no good. It was so bad I had to turn back around and exit because I just could not hold my breath long enough. THANKFULLY this was after I had already eaten. If it was prior I don't think I would have stayed to eat here. So skip using the bathroom here altogether if you can.

The food was very average. Hardly any options available for vegetarian food. The naan was really dry. Tandoori chicken was a little bit raw and then he chicken didn't taste good. Chicken tikka masala was sweet. The price for buffet is also not updated on the site. read more

We enjoyed the lunch special today. It is a bargain and allows you to sample several delicious authentic dishes. I am a vegetarian and they have food that all can enjoy. The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will return when we are in the area again. read more

The food was pretty fair, with a decent selection of items, although I didn't see any meats beyond chicken on the line. I'd appreciate a label on the items as I mistook chicken for tofu. Also, the temp on the line is too low as the food was cold in many areas. Not great, but ok. read more

Excellent restaurant. We were there for the lunch buffet. The food was amazing. Lots of the items on the buffet were Indian however you could find some traditional Nepali food as well. (lentil soup, bamboo shoots with potato were to die for). Their chicken curry was amazing as well as it was made in a very Nepali style. On the Indian side of things, the chicken tandoori was amazing as well as the chicken Tikka masala. Our server was nice and she made us feel very comfortable. When you are done do try the kheer (rice pudding). I loved it. Lots of room for large crowds and the place was very clean. I would definitely go back when I am in Boulder area. read more

We had the lunch buffet, and even though we got in on kind of the tail end, our server was happy to make more of whatever we wanted that was nearly empty. He brought us fresh naan, more samosas, and kept checking to see if we wanted anything else. Great food and great, great service. read more

Probably some of the best Indian buffet I've ever had. It seems like it's the big thing here anyway. Well worth the money. Add the dinner buffet and there were many more choices than most Indian buffets give. All of them seem to be pretty high quality and made right there. This should be a definite stop on your trip if you like Indian food. I know the locals probably all know the place. read more

Wow, that was fantastic! All sorts of incredibly good dishes. Chicken, shrimp, goat, all kinds of vegetarian dishes, and even desserts, all in the buffet. Staff was really welcoming. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Nice buffet place. The ambience is very soothing. Coming to the food, it is delicious, Indian-Nepali fusion. The first time I actually saw a shrimp dish on a buffet menu. The best thing I liked about it was the dessert menu, such a variety and very well made. read more

But every time I'm here a new middle-aged Caucasian is complaining about how her food tastes; too spicy, too sweet and asking for a refund. Terrible food!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! Food was atleast 3-4 days old. Esp chilli chicken and tandoori chicken. Didn't expect the food to be such in stale condition. We just tasted the food and left after paying. Management was least concerned. read more

My girlfriend and I tried this place when we happened to be passing through Boulder, and it was such a standout that even a month later I still remembered to post this review. We got the economically-priced $10 lunch buffet, and it was delicious. It was by far the best buffet we have ever tried, not to mention being top-tier Indian cuisine by any measure. Both of us found it difficult not to have seconds (and thirds) of everything we put on our plates. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, the staff seemed to be a little quiet, but our server was attentive, and the host was efficient, so I have no complaints. read more

There are two restaurants I think of first when hosting out-of-town visitors in Boulder: Kathmandu II and the Dushanbe Tea House. Kathmandu has high-quality food for completely reasonable prices. The buffet is well tended, varied, clearly labeled, and always fresh and delicious. And if the hot sauce isn't hot enough for you, just ask, they'll bring you the good stuff out of the kitchen. The staff is prompt and friendly and always polite. The ambiance is down-to-earth, low key, with some Tibetan niceties, but not particularly fancy. The Dushanbe Tea House is a different vibe, a downright Boulder spectacle of ornately detailed wood carving and painting covering the walls and ceiling, with an extravagantly eclectic menu to match. We have eaten several times at Kathmandu in Nederland, so we tried K2 in Boulder. The buffet was every bit as delicious and varied as the original. All non-meat dishes state whether they contain dairy or egg or gluten, which was really helpful as I am a vegan. This was a truly satisfying and delicious meal. The decor is lovely and the service is good. I WILL eat there again! read more

We enjoyed the buffet in the new location today - and man, were we glad they expanded down the hill from Nederland. The spread was tasty and plentiful. The restaurant is comfortable with lots of windows and trees around, even if it's on 28th Street. We'll be returning again and again. Good deal, nice people, great food. read more

We think the five star reviews without pictures are from the restaurant staff. Bland is the word. Rice was cold and dry. The Masala Curry was nothing to write home about. Boredom seems to have set in. Wake up! We need another good Indian food restaurant in Boulder but this is not it. read more

I've heard good things about the original Kathmandu restaurant, but this was not good. Fish korma was rubbery and salty to the point of inedibility (we left most of it on the plate). Chicken vindaloo and lamb saag were bland. No plans to revisit. read more

Excellent and authentic taste of Indian/Nepali cuisine. The veg dishes (Saag Paneer, Bhindi/Okra, Samosa) were delicious. Chili Chicken was awesome! This is as authentic as Indian food gets (it is not "Americanized"). Also, the menu was a welcome departure from the usual Indian buffet food. It is the best Indian/Nepali restaurant in Boulder/Broomfield/Louisville, etc. read more

In love with this place. Friendly staff, clean.... But most of all the food is incredible. The chutneys are to die for, the chicken tikka masala is creamy and flavorful and the nann is, well, amazing. I've eaten at their buffet and ordered off the menu, both were incredible. I love a good buffet, and this one is absolutely perfect--all your Indian and Nepalese favorites. Don't forget to try the papadam (not sure on spelling), it's crispy perfection. read more

I'm so disappointed. I ordered online and picked up. The person who greeted me was kind and welcoming. When I drove across town to my home where I looked forward to enjoying my meal, I realized the lassi's were not in the box. I called and the man was apologetic but, at first, said he couldn't do a refund due to it being an online purchase. He then found my online card and said he refunded me. I have yet to see the refund in my bank account. As far as the food goes, such a disappointment!! All of it tasted like it was made in the same sauce base. The pakoras tasted old and swimming in salt. The naans were saturated in grease and tasted old as did the rice. A huge meal that I had expected to last over several days, cost me a tremendous amount of money, will be, more than likely, thrown away. The reviews in their website were from 2017. I thought I'd take a chance Iid he refunded me. I have yet to see it in my bank account. As far as the food goes, such a disappointment!! All of it tested like it was made in the same sauce base. Attention Vegans- Try tis buffet!!! It's over 1/2 vegan and you can eat more than you can at any other buffet in town. The food is delicious and priced well. They can make vegan chai and naan as well (on request). I highly recommend this for anyone, vegan or otherwise. read more

We ordered the Aloo Gobi, a dish called "mushroom matter", basmati rice, "Indian style tea" which is just chai I don't know why they label it that way and a garlic naan. The aloo gobi was almost all cauliflower and lacked the brightness and salty sweetness I am used to, the mushroom dish also fell a bit flat although I've never seen this dish before so I have nothing to compare it to, the basmati rice was fairly short grained, not very fragrant and unspiced but the thing that got me was the crunchy toasted naan??! I was expecting your normal soft, pillowy, melt in your mouth steamy naan and I got what felt more like a crunchy pizza crust with no toppings, not that it was bad but it was wildly outside of what I was expecting and personally didn't like it, my daughter will eat any bread product and ate it instead. The service was incredibly nice, friendly, accommodating, and helpful, our food came quickly. I do wish they had some way of dealing with delivery drivers since they just loiter in the entry of the restaurant near the kitchen which happened to be right next to our booth and more than one large sweaty delivery driver was essentially leaning against my daughters side of the booth while waiting for pick up, kinda gross. They also need to replace their carpets and bench cushions but otherwise I loved the decor. Overall they need to step up their spice game, this is Indian food bring your A game and all other faults would be forgiven, except that crunchy naan. They also don't have Chana masala??!!? This is my go to and I've never seen this not offered at an Indian restaurant in my area. As a person spoiled by incredible Indian food this sadly doesn't hold up but it's good enough and better than other places we have tried in the area like Kathmandu II.

This is one of the local restaurants I have gone to in the past with friends who adored it. The same is true of another local favorite. It is not them, it is me. Recently, at the Yelp Camp Colorado event, I spotted the mango lassi drink samples at one end of the food truck display and the food (bites) were at the other end. Since the table of cups was monitored but easy to grab, with no line like the food bites, I enjoyed a sample. Best flavor Mango lassi I had ever had. Wanting another such drink today, I looked online for that food truck and it was noted that they were associated with Taj Indian Cuisine here in Boulder and in a shopping center quite close to my house. So my husband and I took off to get some to have with some items at home, for lunch. The sign for the Food Truck Tuk Took Bites was still in their window but has some sections crossed off in marker. Not knowing the full story we went in to get our drinks. The place is still beautifully decorated, clean and with lunch diners already eating well before noon. We were approached immediately and made our order. I asked about the Tuk Took Bites connection and was told it had been cancelled 2 years ago. When he delivered our drinks they were darker than the ones at the event and asked if they both used the same recipe. He said no. We took them anyway and drank them, but though they were perfectly adequate, they were quite different. They were a deeper, sharper taste of Mango and I had preferred the lighter, sweeter version I had last weekend. You may prefer either one and I am hoping that Tuk Took Bites Truck will find themselves in Boulder again some time soon. Thanks to Taj for your drinks (well priced and fresh) today. But not quite the flavor profile I was looking for.

I only eat items like NY cheesecake and on bagels with lox. What I wanted to try was the roasted duck dumpling but got the fried wonton with cream cheese and duck. It had a good sauce as well as a slice of mango and a pinch of pea shoots on the top. I do love baby pea shoots and though not what I envisioned, I did eat my portion. The shrimp spring rolls were some of the best I have had in a while. I had a hot oolong tea and my husband had a Thai tea. We both liked our drinks which were exactly as we expected. We also had a "small" plate of bbq chicken which was hardly a small thing. A large tasty section of chicken on a bed of lettuce with a side of shredded carrot and cabbage with a very nice sauce. It was perfect for my husband but as I am not allowed chicken skin, it was harder to eat but tasty. Such a bigger serving than we expected, we brought enough home for lunch tomorrow. The staff were friendly, helpful yet not intrusive. The setting was perfect for me and for all as the variety of styles allow for accommodating any needs. Pricing was average for Boulder and more than worth it. We will be back and try more items. Often have lunch with a friend who drives and it will be perfect for that this summer.

We arrived during happy hour so ordered the pork egg rolls (3 piece) thin flaky pastry stuffed with ground pork, cabbage, carrots, and woonsen noodle, deep fried with sweet and sour sauce and crab wontons (4 piece) cream cheese and crab meat stuffed in wonton shell served with sweet and sour sauce. The pork egg rolls were crispy on the outside with a generous, tasty filling, perfectly fried and not greasy. The crab wontons were a highlight, light, crunchy, and packed with creamy filling, paired nicely with a sweet dipping sauce. I ordered the BBQ chicken entree that is marinated and grilled and served with spicy tamarind or sweet and sour sauce. It came with so many fresh veggies and I loved the tamarind sauce so much I had to order extra. The BBQ chicken was tender and well-seasoned with a slightly smoky, savory-sweet taste that really stood out. Service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable, great for a relaxed meal without feeling rushed. If you're in Boulder and craving Thai food done right, Aloy Thai Cuisine is definitely worth checking out. It was a very reasonable price point for the quantity of food.

Another delicious meal! Truly a great restaurant! We have been coming ever since they opened. We drive from Longmont just for the GREAT food. Really nice people work at, and run this restaurant, they are happy to answer questions and help with menu, always cheerful and kind. The high quality food is very delicious and surprisingly affordable. Their generous portions always leave me with enough yummy food for another meal the next day. Highly recommend their lunch buffet and their Friday buffet so that you can sample some of the many foods they prepare and find your own favorites. Hope they expand and open a Kathmandu in Longmont Colorado we would truly enjoy the high quality and healthy food that Kathmandu is becoming known for here in our town too! Going out to Kathmandu for a meal is high on our list of favorite places. This restaurant is own by one poor girl from Nepal. She got lucky in Nederland but I don't think she is going to be lucky in Boulder if public knows inside of the management. She uses the illigal Nepali people under pay. They keep the tips and make people work hard. No wonder all workers are very unhappy and sad looking!! Check it out if you don't believe. Kathmandu is a hidden treasure of Boulder. I am a college student who is always hungry and always looking for the best bang for my buck. Kathmandu is an amazing Nepalese/Indian buffet that is priced so reasonably for how great the food is. I have been dining here for the past few months, the samosas and curry vegetables are a must try! The staff is always so kind and welcoming. I always leave Kathmandu stuffed and satisfied. My mom spent several months in India in her 20s and came home with a love for the food so I grew up eating Indian in my house quite often. I finally got over to Kathmandu II last night and loved it. I did the buffet so I could try a little of everything and it was all delicious. My only complaint being that food can't be prepared very spicy for a buffet.
