Chosen as a last second thought...close to work and open late....just perfect! Called around 2:00, set an appointment for myself at 5:30. Showed up with my 9 year old daughter 10 minutes before my appointment time. Immediately I was seated and she was accommodated with a foot/hand pampering with her choice if polish/design. Tom did my nails and was as attentive to detail as any nail technician I've ever seen! To top it off, he made sure to FULLY take his time to be sure I was taken care of (even handing off a scheduled request client), which was beyond amazing for me, though I can understand an annoyance from the scheduled customer. Tom was amazing to my daughter after her services were completed and mine weren't! He asked her critique on all polishing, layer by layer, on my nails. Bottled water was available upon request very enthusiastically. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Tom in 2 weeks!! Definitely a wonderful mother/daughter evening. read more

My honest review .. I wish I could give zero stars.. This place is a waste of time and money. I've never been so compelled to write a review based off an experience, but this definitely seemed to be worth the effort to help the next person. I don't usually complain, but when it comes down to feeling under valued as a customer I have to speak up. I'm new to the area and have been looking for a trust worthy nail shop, and have yet to find one. This is the 2nd nail shop I've visited in this area , and so far the worse. I came as a walk in for a fill and pedicure. I was helped almost immediately, which was a plus to begin with. As my nails where being done I noticed a crack in two of my nails and asked her to repair it. Normally when this happens the nail tech will drill down the acrylic where the crack is to fill it with more acrylic, but this woman didn't. All she did was put more acrylic on top of it still leaving the crack visible. I was skeptical about it , because I occasionally work with boxes at work . And let's be honest a broken nail hurts like a crazy! .. Anyway, she assured me it would be fine, and so I just kinda brushed it off. At this point I'm being directed to go over to the spa for my pedi , and the guy doing my pedi was nice, but the paint job was pretty ridiculous. I wish I would have taken a picture , in all honesty I could have done a better job myself. (Needless to say I went to the shop to pamper myself a bit, otherwise I would have just done it myself.) I won't give all the details of all the in between work, but both paint jobs were very unsatisfying. After being in the shop for about 2+ hrs I was ready to leave , so I paid my dues + a $10 tip and was on my way. TBH it wasn't until I got home I realized how unhappy I was with my pedi, and it wasn't until I got in the car I realized I didn't like the way my fill was done. I asked for coffin shape , she attempted it, but didn't meet my expectations. I asked the gentlemen who did my pedi to keep my nails square, and when I got a closer look the paint was pretty thick and my nails were completely uneven. By his body language and how he was talking to his coworker I could tell he knew himself he wasn't doing a very good job and kept trying to cover it up by adding more polish. After all had been said and done literally the next day I had to come back because the very nails the lady so called "fixed" cracked the same day. Of course they were busy again so I had to wait about another 2 hrs to have two nails fixed plus my pedi to be redone. Actually 3 nails! Because as I went to go sit in the spa chair another nail had cracked taking of my shoes! I was in disbelief and at this point and very irritable, but remained calm and respectful. A different woman had fixed my nails and she still didn't take the time to drill away the crack, but just put a little glue and acrylic over it. And the redo of my pedi was still poorly done. Never have I ever experienced such poor quality and I've been getting my nails done for well over 5 years. Believe it or not the very next day after the repair of a total of 3 nails, my nail cracked again , by this point I was out of town for the weekend. So I called today (Monday) to set an apt with a specific person to have it fixed and was told I'd get a call back .. I have yet to hear from anyone . At this point I'm over them and will be looking else where. Come at your own risk , but you've been forewarned. Terrible first impression, I thought they'd redeem themselves after "fixing" my nails, but my optimism was wrong. I work hard for my money just as anyone else , and for someone to think it's okay to take $90 after doing a poor job and refusing to properly make the matter better doesn't sit well with me at all. That just tells me these people are greedy and money hungry with lack of empathy or care towards customer care. read more

I will not be going back! I got a gel manicure and the lady was awful! She put gobs of nail gel on my nails and just as I thought, and told them, three days later they started to peel up. I went back and the guy in there was completely rude like I was trying to take advantage. UMMM NO! I paid for a gel manicure and three days later it peels off, fix it! So he fixed it with an attitude and then rudely shooed me off when he was done. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I chose to check Yelp for reviews on Kathy's Nail because of a great review on Good Neighbors of Roseville FB page that I belong to. Yelp's reviews were very good, so I decided to give them a try. I am in search of a great nail salon. The cost for a basic pedicure is $25. The salon is small and kind of gaudy with pillars and obnoxious decor, like so many other salons. The chair I sat in had the control taped with packing tape to the arm, which made it look cheap. I still held out hope, because the reviews spoke about how sanitary they were. I could overlook gaudy and cheap if it is super sanitary. I did not find any sanitary issues. I did not like the fact that Amber, my technician had me put my feet in an empty tub and then turned on the COLD water. I told her it was cold and she said it takes a minute for the hot to come in. That was one strike. I always bring my own base, color, & top coat. Amber noticed a small speck of dirt on my nail when she applied it and told me that I may need to replace it. I thought that was great, what a good eye. The pedicure was fine, nothing special. Amber was quick, almost rushed-like, even though there weren't any clients waiting. After she polished my toes, she immediately put on my flip flops where the 2nd nail was smudged. Here is where I reduced my review to 2 stars instead of 3. She asked to see the top coat again and just tried to fix the nail. My eyes were blurry from looking at my iPhone, and I couldn't see it. I asked twice if it was noticeable and she explained that since it was still wet the top coat fixed it like new. IT WASN'T. She sat me by the window to dry my nails and I could see better. The smear was totally noticeable! It looked like there was a horizontal seam across my nail. I went and told her, where she acted shocked and said that to her eyes they looked fixed. Now, remember...these are the same eyes that saw a little speck of dirt in my base coat. So, I really doubt that she could not tell. She was not admitting it, that is for sure. Amber told me she would fix it and to come sit down, very hurriedly. I started to take my shoe off, and she told me to leave it on. While she dripped polish remover all over it and painted my toe. Awkward! She asked for the color again and was going to paint over the mess up! My nail would have been super thick and noticeably different from every other toe! That was not cool. I told her I wanted it redone. She said fine and proceeded to do it again, very fast and without time for each coat to dry. I made her stop and said that I was going to get bubbles in the finish if she didn't let the coats dry in between. So, I got sat in front of the dryer again and she came back to add the top coat. I did not get an apology. I got looked at like I was crazy for seeing the two toned nail. Then I got to stand their while they spoke in their language about me. This was not the customer service that I was expecting from this shop. I don't know if it was just Amber, or if this is their normal way of doing business. But, I will not accept this type of service. I may give them a second chance on the mere fact that it was sanitary. But, I will not have Amber again. read more

Came in with a group of friends with an appointment for all of us. We all got the same deluxe pedicure. The nail lady hurried on my friend's pedicure (didn't even massage his legs) to finish it so she could go do a regular's manicure. My friend and I went for pedicures. We had a reservation and were worked with immediately. The staff was friendly and the salon is busy but quiet, nicely decorated, clean, and relaxing. There are a lot of nail colors to choose from. I will definitely go again as this was one of the best and most thorough pedicures I've gotten in the area. I just left Kathy nails. I have had a manicure there once before. Today I sat for 2 hours to have a acrylic set put on. I had a male manicurist. He was awful. First of all, I have never had nails take so long. Usually it's a 45 minute to 1 hour process. He had remove the nail and start over twice because he kept cutting them sideways. He finally started the powder and dumped it on so think it was ridiculous. My hands look like clown hands. I am on my way to a second salon to fix it. I asked him to make the shape more narrow and if there was someone who could help him finish because it had been there two hours. He then proceeds to yell at me " I am the best, you don't know!" And other things I couldn't really understand. He finally kept pulling on my hands and filing me to a point where he cut me! And I said please be more careful. And he says " you too picky!" I don't think if you pay for a nail service, it's too picky to ask them not to make you bleed! Other aestheticians in this salon may be nicer and professional, but if " he is the best", you might wind up getting this nail guy and you will be in pain for two hours. He was absolutely the worst. Not bad! Manicure Acrylic with polish & pedicure. My finger nails looked great & polish stayed on for 2 weeks. For the pedicure, color started coming off by the cuticles within a week. They did not advise me to turn on the massage chair. My least favorite part was they DONT use LINERS for pedicure process. Yuck, so I won't be getting pedicures here anymore. I went to Kathy's for this first time this weekend and was very happy with my experience! I went on a Sunday morning, so they they were pretty slow and got me right in. I did just a regular manicure with gel nail polish. The tech did a GREAT job on my cuticles (I have a problem with dry/gross cuticles) and they have never looked better! I was very pleased with the gel polish and loved that I left knowing my nails were 100% dry. I have a huge problem with chipping off my nail polish the next day and my nails still look great! It was very relaxing and the lady I had, spent a lot of time and effort with my nails. She took her time and did a very through job. I have been coming to Kathy Nails for about a couple years now and at the beginning it was great. I would get compliments on my nails all the time, now I feel like my nails are average at best. The service I receive is a fill with a gel color and I like them to look natural. What I received was a thick different shaped nails. When I asked to have them thinner they replied "let me do it the way I want cause I know best." I'm not a nail technician but they are my nails and I know what I like. I asked her to make them more narrow and cleaner looking she was extremely rude and didn't bother to do want I wanted. I'm very unhappy with my nails and am upset that I have to spend more money and time to fix them. It's also upsetting as a customer to receive rude and unprofessional customer service. This is my first time writing a Yelp review and I don't normally like doing this but I gave Kathy nails so many chances to fix it and all I got was rudeness. I have been coming here for over a year now. Always no problems, always felt welcomed and treated nicely. My kids have gone there and I have referred friends. Never any issues....until today. I took my daughter in and we were going to get pedicures and our nails painted. They looked busy but there were two people doing nothing, a woman and a man. First they asked me to do my daughters nails first, then asked me to wait, then told me to come back, and finally told me they couldn't do my nails. The man was rude. I have never been treated that way and will NEVER go back!!!! Kathy and her husband should be ashamed to have employees like them!!!! It's a shame because they ruined a relationship, and I will tell everyone to NEVER go there! With as many good salons in Rocklin/Roseville they should know there are MANY good places willing to take the business they send away. I went in for a gel French manicure and French pedicure on 08/16 to prepare for a wedding on 08/19. I was disappointed that the massage chair was broken and not working, but the service was all around mediocre. Once I got home and got a better look at my nails, my disappointment was greater. The polish on my toes looked awful and wavy. By the morning of 08/18 it was full of cracks and chips, this was less than 48 hours after my service. I went back to the salon the first chance I had on 08/18 to have it fixed. I was told that the manicurist didn't wait long enough for the polish to try before she added the top coat and caused the polish to bubble and crack. Figuring it'd just happen all over again and I was going out of town for the wedding, I agreed to pay an additional $10 for gel. The gel was completed and looked a lot better so I paid and left. A few hours later I left for the wedding and noticed the gel on my manicure started lifting and looked really dingy. By the wedding on 08/19, the gel had completely lifted on 4 of my nails. I am completely disappointed that I spent $90 on services that didn't even last 3 whole days. After several attempts at calling to inform them of the lifting, I decided to go in. I was pretty much given s BS fix if a gift certificate I won't be using because their manicurists are incompetent. The owner tried to argue with me about not calling or fixing them sooner. I would have had I not been in San Francisco for a wedding. I will not be getting my nails done ever again here so now I have a useless piece of paper. This type of service for the money is completely unacceptable. Upon reading previous reviews, I see I'm not alone and will be contacting the board of cosmetology to ensure the inspectors are aware of what an awful establishment this is. Not only are their services crap, but their customer service is even worse. If you're reading these reviews and debating going here, don't. It's a waste of time and money and you'll be lucky if it lasts a whole 3 days. They deserve 0 stars and 0 business. read more

My new obsession!! I love nails but getting them done has always been a pain, literally. Im not sure what it is but literally every place I go I end up in severe pain and bleeding around my cuticles. This is the first place that hasn't done that and after even about the fifth time I've gone there, still hasn't! Steven and Tony are the two people I always see and they're seriously amazing. I got a compliment on my nails literally atleast twice a day and not to mention only $25 for a full set!!! ($5 off with student discount). Do not go anywhere else!!! I've been to Kathy's Nail several times, and the last two times were not satisfactory at all. The last time I was in, the paraffin wax scalded the top of my foot and it blistered. Today, the technician cut my toenail down to the quick and then proceeded to try to file it! She was filing my skin and it was painful! When she cut the nail down so low I said "ouch!" and she ignored me. When she began to file the quick of my nail I told her we were done. She proceeded to argue with me about it. I will never go back and I wish there was some way to complain, but no one in there speaks good English nor do they look like they care at all!! read more

after visiting this location i felt pain. i was getting my acrylics taken off and she decided it was a good idea to try and pry them off. i said ouch and she just continued on. after saying ouch a few dozen times she rolled her eyes and finally soaked them. when we was soaking them she decided that she should go on her phone and watch something. i found rude and i have to sit there so they should sit there and suffer with me. is it just me or it is really disrespectful when they speak in their foreign language? they were probably were talking about how i looked or something rude like that. read more

I thought it was just me but after reading multiple reviews it is clear that people getting injured while getting their nails done is common here. I got a full set and a pedicure. The man asked if I wanted round or square shape and I said "coffin" and he seemed almost offended that I would ask for what he called "a new style." He cut me in multiple places on my hands and he set the nail way too high leaving a gap between the cuticle and the nail. He spent an hour shaping the nails and still made them crooked. When he cut me he said "that's normal" as if I was stupid enough to think that's true. By the end my cuticles were raw and cut up. He then put some kind of chemical on all of my cuts that made it burn like he was getting revenge for my request for coffin shaped nails. I then had a pedicure and he picked at my toes until they were red. It's five days later and it's still sore. Also my acrylics are already falling off completely and I don't even use my hands for much. I only came here because of recommendation but I will definitely not be returning. Go to Orchid Nails in roseville. They're kind and they won't cause you pain. Update: my grandmother stopped going here for the same reasons of always being injured.
