I am so happy with Kathy's Nails. I had a horrible experience yesterday at Woodcreek Nails (yeah, read that review) and ended up walking out of there. I came to Kathy's, hoping they could repair the hack-job that had taken over my hands. Steven (owner) did my nails. He and the other manicurists were horrified by what Woodcreek Nails had done to my hands. He took a long time taking off the crappy nails, making sure not to nick my cuticles or hurt my nail beds. He expertly applied the most beautiful set of pink and whites I've ever had, and was so meticulous about shaping and thinning them. All the smile lines are perfect. The barrel of every nail is perfect, and they aren't chunky or thick. I am delighted with my new nail salon! As a bonus, he charged me LESS than I paid for the hack-job! I have been here twice for pedicures and get the "luxury package" which adds rose pedals in your foot water and a glass of lemonade or water. Not worth the extra money to pay for "luxury" oh and I forgot the candle too. The pedicure was excellent though and I dont mind pay extra for the "luxury" pedicure because I deserve it and they dont have to try to upsell me or give me a bad pedicure if I choose the lower one. read more

Was expecting better service. Had an appt which was fine, but felt like an assembly line pedicure was ok but manicure was really bad, hasn't even been 24 hrs and Polish has peeled off of 4 nails already. Expected it to last due to the cost of paying 40$. Had a male technician that spoke broken English and didn't understand that I wanted gel so it would last. So I tried this place based on the recommendation of a friend's mom and I even checked out the yelp reviews before I went there -- not something I normally do. Despite the average of 4.5 stars, I was SUPER disappointed. To be fair, the lady who did my acrylics did an okay job... Though there's pieces of acrylic stuck to the undersides of my fingers, which I find really odd. She took great care to shape my nails into the oval shape I wanted them in and applied the polish so my nails look fantastic. I was happy with the service I got... Until I was passed off onto another lady for my pedicure. The second woman asked me what pedicure I wanted and passed me a pamphlet. I picked the "special" pedicure which was listed as a $20 pedicure (which I thought was an absolute bargain -- it included a paraffin wax). I let her do her thing while I tried to read my book and relax -- BIG mistake. My toes look AWFUL. I did choose a dark red, which I know can be one of the most difficult colors to apply, but come on, you do this for a living. I hate to say it, but I could've given myself a better pedicure than this lady gave me. I wish I had gotten her name so I could warn you to stay away from her in particular, but alas, I did not. To add a giant cherry on top of my crappy pedicure sundae, the pedicure lady charged me $35 for a pedi that was listed for $20. I do know the lady who did my acrylics was Irina, and I would suggest her. I doubt I'll be returning here, but if I do, I'll update my review. read more

I'm really picky about my nails. I'll go to several places before I find someone and then I stick to them forever. When I moved to a new place the thought of starting all over to find someone to do my nails was not an exciting thought, but I tried Kathy Nails out and I was so pleased. The owners husband does my nails. He is a true artist at his craft with over 20 years experience and Kim does my pedicures. She is attentive and makes sure all the details like paint on the cuticles, rough spots, and leg massage are all done right. Even though I tend to walk in close to closing they always take me in with a smile and never rush through just to get me out. read more

I just had a mani-pedi done here for $40. I will not go back. I don't have my nails done very often...once, maybe twice a year. The regular maintenance I do myself. I just like to get a treat right before summer and maybe right before winter. I asked for a "regular" manicure and pedicure. Clear polish on the fingernails, and red on the toes. The first thing I look for is that they pull freshly sterilized tools from a package. I like to see them open the package in front of me. That did not happen. He pulled his tools from the drawer, so I prayed that he didn't nick my cuticles...a risky call, I know. Luckily, he did not. He actually did a great job on my cuticles which were in desperate need of some maintenance. The polish looked great, clean just the way I like it! And then, I came home. The next day, the polish was literally peeling off my nails! I am so disappointed. We paid a decent amount of money, and the polish is coming off on the second day! Ugh! More on the lack of sanitary tools: My aunt was with me, and I was sitting chatting with her while she got her nails done. This time, the manicurist did pull out a package of tools, but it was already opened so there was no way to tell if they were fresh. Not only that, there was no cuticle pusher, so, GROSS, he used his nail to push her cuticle back! Eew! We got through that, thankfully. On to the pedicures. The bowls seemed clean, and while my feet were soaking, I did see the technician cleaning another bowl after a client left, so my comfort level was rising. My technician was good. I was very pleased with her work on my feet. I didn't get the paraffin wax treatment, but the soles of my feet were/are nice and soft. I did like the oil massage treatment on my lower legs. She was understanding of my very ticklish feet, and managed it very well. I cannot say the same for my aunt, who is much more ticklish than I, and her technician didn't seem to make any adjustments. BAD! She kept at the bottoms of her feet without consideration for my aunt's discomfort. Oh yeah...one more thing. We called ahead for a 2pm appointment. We had to wait quite a bit between services. Granted, they were very busy, but still. All in all, it was not a tremendously positive experience. Off I go to search for another nail salon. read more

I should probably do two separate reviews- one for the pedicure I got today and one for the manicure. I've never reviewed anything before, but the pain in my left cuticle is a big motivation. Pedicure: A+. The lady was older and very sweet, and did a very careful, beautiful job. Nothing hurt, she was sensitive with ticklish spots and asked me how I was doing each step of the way. I got a basic pedicure and my toenails look fantastic. Manicure: Gosh. The young guy doing my nails seemed to be elsewhere in his mind, sighing between each step to the point where I felt sorry for him. (I had gel... it's a long process). He was somewhat aggressive, and when that happens I normally grit my teeth and bear it because I hate confrontation but I had to wince and pull my hand away as he was trimming my cuticles. He dug deep in the skin around my nails and my left index finger got nicked. It's hurting so bad right now that I took a break from cooking dinner to bandage it and just write this review. I tried to be as nice and sympathetic as possible, and when I asked if he typically puts the top coat on the edge of my nails (otherwise french manicures chip so fast!) he interrupted me mid-sentence and said "I'll get to it". Ouch. :( On my way out, a kind older man in a dress shirt and pants examined my nails, said something to the lady in the back who did my toes, and he himself grabbed a file and re-filed nearly all of my nails, obviously unhappy with the way they looked. As was I. The white tips are uneven and paper thin. I walked out and thought "Thanks for the touch-up... but there goes the polish on the ends." Moral of the story: Ask for the older gentleman or one of the ladies. I think the younger guy (probably around 18-20 yrs old) isn't there because he loves it or is great at it. read more

I was in the area for business and I wanted to grab a pedicure during some of my free time. It wasn't crowded (around 12 noon in the middle of the day) and I felt like the lady giving me a pedicure gave me her undivided attention. I opted for the "special" pedicure which came with a foot scrub, mask, paraffin wax and hot stones with oil massage. It was $35 which is more than I normally pay back home in the bay, but then again I don't usually go all out for every pedicure. She took her time and was very meticulous with my toes. Great service. My only suggestion would be to call for an appt. Claudia is by far the best manicurist. The place is clean with clean tools etc. If you walk in more than likely there will be a wait. I see people continuously get frustrated due to the wait. Claudia is very good. Easy to communicate with and always checks if I'm ok with either the paint or the massage. The mail guy had just put on the tips for a new set, and asked how I wanted them shaped. When I noticed he wasn't shaping as we talked about, I mentioned it, and he snapped at me! I was in shock so was quiet for a few minutes. Then I noticed he was filing 10+ times on one side of the nail, and like 3 times on the other side. The 3 he had done were all horribly crooked! I started to point out they weren't even and he said he'd fix it after the acrylic was on...... what??!!! I said I had to use the bathroom and went to the back of the salon and asked for the owner. That's when I was told he was the manager. I asked for someone else to finish my nails and they only had one other person who knew how to do acrylic nails (others could paint with gel only), so I'd have to wait until later on the day. After 10 minutes I just walked out and went to B&B Nails on Pleasant Grove, where Michelle was able to fix the crooked nails and make all of them look perfect. I received a mani/pedi here. The customer service was nice, however, they charged $35.00 for a pedicure and did not even have a spa tub; it was a basic kitchen sink. Additionally, it has been two weeks since receiving my manicure and my cuticles are still pealing! That is a sign to any mani-knowledgeable consumer to steer clear. This nail salon is top notch. The pedicures have all you could wish. Basic to the works. I usually get the middle of the line pedicure and it includes paraffin wax which always leaves my skin so smooth. Chairs are comfortable and well spaced. Close but not too close and the salon is quiet and the nail technicians very professional. If you want a gel manicure, see Na. She's a doll and does a fabulous job from cleaning up my cuticles to a mini hand massage at the end. French manicure is her specialty. Again very professional. I am so disappointed with the service I received at this salon. I came here at the recommendation of a friend who has been coming here regularly for years. I had a male technician, but didn't catch his name. I paid for a spa gel pedicure and spa gel (dip) manicure totalling $70. I was cut several times during my pedicure while he filed my previous gel color off with the electric file. He did not massage my feet or legs at all after changing my polish. Instead he left while another woman prepared my soaking bowl at the manicure table. When he returned he smelled awful of cigarette smoke. During my manicure he filed my skin along with my nail causing the cuts you can clearly see in the photo. I was physically flinching when he would cut me, but he would only say "keep still" and continue. He didn't even acknowledge cutting me when he was wiping away blood from my cuticles and still rubbed my fingers with acetone which burned and cause me to pull back to which he would again tell me to sit still. Again, there was no spa element to my "spa" manicure because he did not massage my hands at all after changing my polish. My friend who paid for the exact same services and had time to have her previous gel polish soaked off got both a foot and hand massage. I will not be returning to this salon and hope this review prevents others from having their fingers butchered like this. read more

Walked in with my mom and 3 daughters (2 teens and a preteen) for some pampering before a vacation. They started on my 2 teen daughters' hands, and my mom and I for pedicures. My 11 year old sat and waited for a while, and they told me they would get to the "little girl" when her sisters were up for pedicures. Once their nails were done the 2 older girls sat for their pedicures. Their water was drawn and they started soaking, and still nothing for my youngest. Finally did her pedicure but seemed to rush through it. My pedicure was wonderful, my mom's and 2 teens were great too. The only complaints I have are that they treated my youngest like she didn't matter, and while doing my nails made 3 of them bleed. It was a pedicure from hell! First off when she was cutting my cuticles around my toenails (which took Much longer than needed) I was cringing and in so much pain that she made my big toe bleed and a chunk of skin is missing. Then comes the massage part... I thought she was going to break my bones she was pressing so hard on the top of my foot, it was obvious I was in huge amounts of pain... But she didn't acknowledge any of it. As she was painting my toenails on one foot I didn't like the color, and kindly asked to change it to a different color and I knew exactly the color I wanted. She gave me the worst attitude and wouldn't take the nail polish off and insisted she was going to paint over the old polish with the new. Worst pedicure experience of my life. I wish I got her name, but all I can tell you is that she was probably the oldest lady who worked there. Would NOT recommend to anyone! read more

I went this time with my best friend and her daughter. My friend had the luxury mani and pedi and I had the deluxe. The lady did an excellent job on my pedi, it was very relaxing and she took her time. The lady doing my nails made me bleed. This is not the first time this has happened and mind you I get my nails done 1-2 times a month on average, it has only happens at this salon! At the end the lady got up from doing the pedi turned the chair into my toes and smashed the polish so she had to fix it. They just seem haphazard and could be a bit more careful. The craziest thing at the end they charged my friend $65 to do her 8 year old daughters mani and pedi! I won't be going back on my own but my friend seems to like this place so might be back. They were terrible, first of all they took a long time for me to be seen when i had already scheduled an appointment, the person who did my nails rushed and I wanted regular nail polish on top of acrylics, when it was drying it didn't dry properly and looked all crumbly because they made me use a fan to dry it, instead of apologizing they lectured me and made me pay an extra $5 for gel just because regular polish wasn't drying and started shouting at me saying "why didn't you get gel in the first place" "regular takes so long to dry". Overall they were very rude and I did not appreciate the lack of customer service that I received. My honest review .. I wish I could give zero stars.. This place is a waste of time and money. I've never been so compelled to write a review based off an experience, but this definitely seemed to be worth the effort to help the next person. I don't usually complain, but when it comes down to feeling under valued as a customer I have to speak up. I'm new to the area and have been looking for a trust worthy nail shop, and have yet to find one. This is the 2nd nail shop I've visited in this area , and so far the worse. I came as a walk in for a fill and pedicure. I was helped almost immediately, which was a plus to begin with. As my nails where being done I noticed a crack in two of my nails and asked her to repair it. Normally when this happens the nail tech will drill down the acrylic where the crack is to fill it with more acrylic, but this woman didn't. All she did was put more acrylic on top of it still leaving the crack visible. I was skeptical about it , because I occasionally work with boxes at work . And let's be honest a broken nail hurts like a crazy! .. Anyway, she assured me it would be fine, and so I just kinda brushed it off. At this point I'm being directed to go over to the spa for my pedi , and the guy doing my pedi was nice, but the paint job was pretty ridiculous. I wish I would have taken a picture , in all honesty I could have done a better job myself. (Needless to say I went to the shop to pamper myself a bit, otherwise I would have just done it myself.) I won't give all the details of all the in between work, but both paint jobs were very unsatisfying. After being in the shop for about 2+ hrs I was ready to leave , so I paid my dues + a $10 tip and was on my way. TBH it wasn't until I got home I realized how unhappy I was with my pedi, and it wasn't until I got in the car I realized I didn't like the way my fill was done. I asked for coffin shape , she attempted it, but didn't meet my expectations. I asked the gentlemen who did my pedi to keep my nails square, and when I got a closer look the paint was pretty thick and my nails were completely uneven. By his body language and how he was talking to his coworker I could tell he knew himself he wasn't doing a very good job and kept trying to cover it up by adding more polish. After all had been said and done literally the next day I had to come back because the very nails the lady so called "fixed" cracked the same day. Of course they were busy again so I had to wait about another 2 hrs to have two nails fixed plus my pedi to be redone. Actually 3 nails! Because as I went to go sit in the spa chair another nail had cracked taking of my shoes! I was in disbelief and at this point and very irritable, but remained calm and respectful. A different woman had fixed my nails and she still didn't take the time to drill away the crack, but just put a little glue and acrylic over it. And the redo of my pedi was still poorly done. Never have I ever experienced such poor quality and I've been getting my nails done for well over 5 years. Believe it or not the very next day after the repair of a total of 3 nails, my nail cracked again , by this point I was out of town for the weekend. So I called today (Monday) to set an apt with a specific person to have it fixed and was told I'd get a call back .. I have yet to hear from anyone . At this point I'm over them and will be looking else where. Come at your own risk , but you've been forewarned. Terrible first impression, I thought they'd redeem themselves after "fixing" my nails, but my optimism was wrong. I work hard for my money just as anyone else , and for someone to think it's okay to take $90 after doing a poor job and refusing to properly make the matter better doesn't sit well with me at all. That just tells me these people are greedy and money hungry with lack of empathy or care towards customer care. read more
