We stayed at Katy's Inn to attend a funeral of a family member. John and Joan were so accommodating, respectful of our situation and treated us like family. We've stayed here before and have always felt so welcomed while going above and beyond what one would expect from inn keepers. We greatly appreciate everything they did for us during our stay. My wife and I stayed here for my birthday weekend and we were absolutely blown away with the hospitality our hosts showed us. The property is beautiful and the house is gorgeous (it was built a while ago so if you're looking for a lot of tech and brand new hardware smart switches, and such this isn't your place). The work that has crafted this property into the gem it is today is jaw dropping. Apparently, the grounds had fallen off a bit over the last couple years, but now.... wow... it's just amazing. What really blew me away was the attitude of our hosts though. The approach they take to hospitality is just so "all-in"... I'm guessing that they put so much effort into preparation and planning that when it's time to execute, it appears to be effortless. But the meals they serve and the overall attention they express are clearly the result of a lot of hard work... I'm still smiling and it's been a week :) ! read more

We had a three day weekend coming up and decided to spend it in La Conner. I went online and found Katy's Inn. It was a short walk from the main drag and reasonably priced, so we booked it. What a darling place! We chose the Captain's Room because it had a private porch/entrance. There was large seating area, with TV and DVD player and desk. It has a queen size bed and queen hide a bed. It also has a full private bath. It was very clean and the lady that runs the place brings you FRESHLY BAKED cookies and milk (in little glass milk bottles) to your door each night. That was so nice! Apparently, she is also a chef and whipped up a fantastic breakfast. Next time we are in La Conner and need a place to stay, Katy's Inn it is! read more

This was my second stay at Katy's Inn and this will become a yearly getaway. The home is charming and welcoming. The hosts welcomed us with chocolate chip cookies and we knew the breakfast was going to be incredible. My friend and I love browsing the shops in Laconner, having dinner at one of the restaurants and enjoying a massage at the waterfront day spa. Mari could easily be the best massage therapist in the US. Then we love to return to Katy's and play cards at the large dining room table. The Inn is just an easy two block walk from town. Everything about Katy's is special. It is not ultra modern or fancy but it is homey and comfortable. This is a perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy the Skagit Valley Tulip festival. In the summer you can take a short cruise out of Laconner with San Juan Cruises. read more

Absolutely lovely place. We came to La Conner to visit friends and stayed at Katy's. We arrived well after midnight but Kim, the owner, made sure we were able to get in and settled in to our room, and pointed out there were treats and hot water for tea if we wanted any before bed. Breakfast each morning was amazing! Fresh, hot coffee, tea, juices, and a full breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. Kim grew up in La Conner so she was a wealth of knowledge and a wonderful person to sit and talk with. The room we stayed in was on the first floor and had a private entrance off the side of the house. While we can be social, we enjoy privacy as well so this room was perfect. It was large, comfortable, and the fireplace was nice to have on a rainy night. I can see why this place books up! If you can get in, grab a room and make the trip! read more

Our stay in the Garden Room was amazing. The home is beautiful and there are lots of spaces in the garden to sit and relax including a covered gazebo with a fire pit. Bonus, the room we had opened up to a wrap around deck where we drank wine and watched the sunset. Kim was a wonderful host and breakfast was delicious. We arrived to fresh cookies and spa water and she even accommodated my food allergy. We'll be back! read more

This is a beautiful bed & breakfast and Kim is a gracious host and great cook. I spent the night in the garden suite and enjoyed the view and balcony immensely. I emailed Katy's Inn inquiring about a weekend stay for my bridesmaids and I to stay for Friday night and for my mom and sister to stay for Saturday night. I did not receive an email back for a week, which should have been a red flag compared to another local B&B who sent a prompt and gracious reply immediately. Despite this, I called Katy's Inn because of the glowing reviews and pictures looked like it would be a perfect place to stay for the girl's weekend. Boy, did I waste my time. When I called Kim, the new-ish owner, sounded very terse and unwelcoming from the first "hello". A huge turnoff if you want to be representing a warm and inviting B&B. Another red flag, but I continued to give her the benefit of doubt. Throughout the short but very revealing conversation, I got the impression she obviously did not care for guests and I was bothering her for wanting to book the rooms. The last straw was when I wanted a confirmation of total cost for the entire weekend. I have a graduate medical degree and I am pretty certain I can do math, but with various regional factors such as tax, extra charges for additional guests, etc. with which I am not familiar, I wanted a grand total which should not be hard to tell your guests with a simple "Your total for the whole weekend will come to $____". Instead, Kim replied "Well, if you multiply it by 3 it is $____" in an unmistakably mocking tone. I work with many people who have many different medical, physical, and cognitive differences and have been told I have great patience, but that was the last straw. I graciously thanked her for her time, hung up, and immediately booked a different place with much better hospitality because I do not want to stay at a place where the owner treats guests like an inconvenience. read more

This place is awesome. Super kitschy with wonderful, simple, historical spaces. Kim is a terrific hostess. She was baking cookies when we arrived and was so welcoming. The grounds are beautiful. The fire pit and covered pergola were so inviting. The fellow B&B guests were amazing. It felt like staying with family rather than staying at a hotel. Oh, and the breakfast was DELICIOUS!! Definitely book a room here when passing through La Conner. You won't regret it. read more

This place was so much more than I expected. Being someone who prefers more modern amenities, I normally don't choose to stay at bed and breakfasts. My wife chose this place and I'm glad she did because it was an incredible experience. Instead of a hotel experience, you feel more like you're staying with friends. Kim is the new owner of Katy's Inn and her love for her awesome little house is obvious. We stayed just one night and it was awesome. Kim's cooking is fantastic. My wife and I had special requests for dietary reasons and Kim delivered in spades. If you get a chance to stay here I would highly recommend it. Kim has owned the Inn since March of 2015 and has spent a lot of time and effort to restore the historic home. Just staying in a home with this much history is awesome in and of itself. She has also done a lot of updates to the inside of the house and has the outdoor grounds looking great. I was sad to go but when I come back, I'll stay here again for sure. We didn't actually stay here. Instead, we (a group of 8 of us) were served a fancy tea by Cindy, the current owner. We bought the opportunity at a charity auction, so kudos to Cindy for donating that! Our tea was entirely delicious, and a very filling meal. I esp. loved the cucumber sandwiches and the chicken/cashew sandwiches, but the egg salad sandwiches, brownies, pumpkin scones, short-bread cookies, apple sauce, and chocolate cherries were also delicious! I don't see tea offered as a standard offering for Katy's Inn, but I recommend asking for it. read more

Recently I found myself talking with friends about my August 2018 vacation to Washington State and my 2 night stay at the lovely Katy's Inn. Katy's Inn is a true gem in La Conner, easy walking distance to the water, the restaurants, and the shops! My husband and I stayed in the Captain's Room on the first floor with its own door to exit the Inn. The room was extremely clean, well furnished, and rather spacious. Kim, who has owned the Inn for a number of years, takes great pride in her sumptuous, bountiful breakfasts. One night stay here. Received an email from the innkeeper that since we were the only guests for the night they were going to take a break of their own and not be here. We were offered almost half off the regular rate as a result and so that was perfectly fine with us. We stayed in the Captain's Room with our little dog. Spacious with a private entrance in addition to the door leading into the house. While the house and room seemed clean, it did feel old and musty. The room and house are filled with unique knick knacks - very charming. The grounds are beautiful, especially on this sunny day. Rocking chairs on the porch (with blankets), well maintained flower beds, gazebo with seating and gas firepit, BBQ grill, and hot tub (clean). Walking distance to little shops and restaurants and right next to Nell Thorne Restaurant and Pub (dinner reservations tonight). Sorry to miss out on Katy's raved about breakfast but they did recommend we have breakfast in the morning at Calico. Will do. read more
