Everything is meh. Like for real. So I've tried this place 2 times now and still everything was horrible. After the first time I was like okay, maybe it was just a bad night but nooooo, the second time was even worse. Let me break it down for you. The tables are a little dirty, like I could see and feel the dust. I guess you can't help it since dirt is everywhere on Kauai but I mean the staff could do more to make the place a little more clean. The service is okay. The first time our server completely forgot about our table. She came and took our orders and we never saw her again the entire night! Like wtf is that? It also takes awhile just to get some water or even a drink. My sister waited 20 minutes just for a shirley temple. That is so unacceptable. The restaurant isn't that big, even though it's busy it shouldn't take that long. Now the most horrible part about this place...THE FOOD! How should I say this simply ---- EWWWWWW! Both times I've eaten here we've stuck to the appetizers because we peeked into the kitchen and talk about cross contamination! Chicken and other meats together ummmm no. How are they even passing health inspections that's fricken disgusting. Anyways we ordered things that are frozen and would be fried like fries, onion rings,and mozzarella sticks. The fries were undercooked. They were soggy and not even crunchy at all. One of the fries I bit into wasn't even that hot. The worst part was that it came with fricken sweet and sour chile sauce! Like pass the ketchup please. The onion rings were way too overcooked. The outside was like biting into a cracker, not cool. The mozzarella sticks were pretty good I'll admit but it only came with 4 little pieces for fricken $9, hell no. My nephew ordered a cheese quesadilla and the cheese wasn't even melted! Wtf is that? And the most horrible thing ever! THEY GARNISH ALMOST EVERY FRICKEN DISH WITH CARROTS! NOT JUST A LITTLE BIT TO MAKE IT LOOK PRETTY I'M TALKING LIKE A WHOPPING LOAD OF CARROTS. IF I ATE ALL THE GARNISH IT'D PROBABLY EQUAL UP TO A WHOLE CARROT! Like what a fricken waste of carrots. What's even worse is the hot wings. They chopped up carrots and mixed it in with sweet chili sauce and that was the sauce for the hot wings. Newsflash carrots do nothing for the hot wings. It actually made it disgusting. I'm usually the person who can mop down some hot wings but we were fighting over who HAD to eat the wings. How sad is that? The only thing worth coming here for is the beer. The beer and that's it. If you come just drink the beers and then go home. Don't eat anything. Trust me. Stop by McDonald's on your way home if you're hungry. Restaurant is a big fat 0. Brewery is the only thing that got this place 2 stars. read more

We love sampling local beer and really enjoyed this place - we came several times during our vacation. Best bet on the menu seems to be the kauai burger which is made to order (they really will do a medium rare if you ask) - local beef pairs well w local beer. Had the kalau pork sandwich once which was fine but basically your standard pulled pork sandwich (fine if you like that). The brewmaster is clearly an IPA lover - don't miss the chance to at least try the captain cook's (more hops than I've seen in a beer ever) but also they have several choices for those of us that appreciate a more subtle approach. They are very generous w samples and have a tasting flight if you can't decide. I really appreciated that out of 11 beers only one had fruit in it - not the case at other breweries in the state where a lot of beer has a heavy handed dose of juice. There is a ton of other stuff on the menu - fish (grilled fried and raw) saimin, salads etc which we didn't try but looked tasty at the table. Definitely check this out! read more

Awesome place! We were skeptical based on 3.5 stars but glad we tried it. We ordered mozzarella sticks, jerk chicken, and fish & chips (hebi). Dinners were big, we struggled to finish. Service was good as well. Food came out rather quick. We would recommend! read more

It would be nice to write a review about the food and beer but instead I can only let you know that I sat at the table for 25 minutes without a single waiter even acknowledging my existence. I am extremely surprised that this brewery / restaurant doesn't get better reviews! We each ordered sampler flights, a shrimp & chips and the special catch of the day. The beer was excellent with a lot of variety (~10 types?) and the food was amazing! The Opa special was to die for. The service was great and our waiter made wonderful recommendations. The location isn't anything special, but it's perfect when you're hungry or thirsty after doing a tour! I highly recommend checking this place out for beer and / or food. read more

We stopped in on a rainy day at lunch time. The place was packed. The food was ok but not stellar, the beers we got were a special (not on the menu) and they were not so great, and our service was kind of horrible. The servers were VERY very nice, so I suspect they were just short-staffed that day. It took almost two hours for us to order, get our food, and pay. We went up front to pay because there was a line waiting to be seated and we couldn't find a server to ask for the bill. read more

The worst service on the island. Went there after a hike in Wiamea canyon for a cold beer. Four empty seats at the 15 foot bar with 3 bartenders sat there without acknowledgment for 10 minutes finally got up and walked out will never go back again. It almost felt discriminatory since there were two Caucasian and one African-American sorry but that's how I felt. read more

It's hard to give a good review when you walk into the place and the hostess immediately gives you attitude. When we asked if we could sit on the upper level, she responded with "I don't care...you can sit wherever you want" and then walked away. She didn't tell us that no one was up there because it was stinkin' hot. Our server was much more pleasant. The beer was good and the food wasn't bad but it was hard to enjoy with all the flies. I probably burned more calories swatting at flies than I consumed. We eventually just covered up our food and beer with napkins and that helped. Could be a nice place but needs some work. read more

Best fries in Kauai! Stopped in for some beer tasting and a burger and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We sat at the bar and the service was friendly and fast. We were really impressed with their beer selection--they have a style and taste for everyone. The two stars is for the service. My husband and I decided to eat lunch here since it is across the street from the harbor and we spent the morning diving... Needless to say we were starving. I noticed the service was rated poorly by other yelp reviewers, however, our server/ bartender was good. The food was average nothing spectacular and I can't comment on the beer since my hubby and I don't drink beer. The flies were the worst!!!! If my hubby and I weren't so hungry we would have never eaten there. We sat at the bar and watched the flies land on the straws, napkins, glasses, you name it they were takin up residency..... Completely disgusting. I would not eat here again I would go to the McDonalds up the street before sharing my meal with flies again.... read more

Amazing place to relax, eat, and have a few great brews! The people were great and accommodating. I tried the beer sampler (you get to choose from a pretty large assortment of beer) and was impressed with all of them. The food was cooked very well and the French Fries alone are definitely worth mentioning, they were delicious! (Not to take away from the rest of my plate, but they were good) When I make it out to Kauai again, this will be a sure stop. We also asked to take a tour and checked out the area where the magic happens and they seem to be expanding and growing very well. Waiting on a Holo-Holo cruise stopped here for drink. After waiting 5 min, we had to ask for wait service. Was some confusion between wait staff and bar tender as to who was willing to provide service to the paying customer. Either way, the entire staff just walked by, not really caring & one younger waitresses with her perpetual look of disgust. We do understand that alcohol "sells itself" & the location is optimal but if anyone in leadership is interested in actually making more money, look at those you are paying to represent your establishment. As of today, they appear totally disinterested in earning whatever you are paying them. No way we'll be back & we certainly will warn our friends to spend their money where they will be valued & treated as such. Not here! read more

We just went in for dinner after happy hour. Food is not good. Servers fast and very nice, atmosphere is friendly bar but food is really bad. I had read about KIB and followed them on facebook and twitter for a few weeks before my vacation to kauai, and looked forward to attending their grand opening. Unfortunately the 30 minute drive from our hotel was completely wasted, and we left incredibly disappointing. We arrived around 11:30 am on grand opening day. There was a hostess in front of us, but chose to avoid eye contact and talk to another staff member for a few minutes before I finally went up to the desk and said 'excuse me'. She seated us upstairs which was fine, except it was so hot and there didn't seem to be any fans working. One of a few gals that visited us through our time there got us some water. The next gal asked if we wanted any drinks, we asked for a sampler to try them all - she told us THEY WERENT SERVING THE SAMPLER. Even though it was on their VERY limited 'grand opening' menu. So we ordered full size of other kinds. A minute or two later, another waitress comes up with a sampler for a different table! WTF?! Anyways our beer arrived and was fine. I had the red, he had the lilikoi. Another waitress came by, and introduced herself as our waitress - im confused as to who the other two girls were? Anyways, we ordered the smoked pork, both being bbq lovers, and were disgusted. It appeared to be pork belly, but it had been smoked so long it was essentially fat jerky. There was very very little meat, and lots of hard greasy fat. It was served with a few pieces of cabbage and carrots, and there was at least 1mm of grease that coated the bottom of the plate / floated the cabbage and carrots. Absolutely horrid, and for like $15 too! I would not ever recommend to come here, unless you are wandering around drunk and would like some greasy food to soak up the liquor. My group came here as we had heard "better" things about Kauai Island Brewery than Kauai Beer Company. Not sure if the people who recommended were just super trashed so they had a "good" experience, but we definitely did not. The flies in the restaurant were terrible. I realize this is fly season in Hawaii, but it was really out of control. They were landing on everyone's food, buzzing drinks and people - it was bad. Our server did "allow" us to wait 10 minutes to order so we would get the happy hour special, but she lacked any knowledge about the beer they had and the brewery was out of several of them. She did recommend an alternative for the brews that were out, but I overheard her making the same recommendation for a completely different beer a customer tried to order the next table over. I asked for something not super hoppy and the one she recommended (thankfully, I got a sample first) was VERY hoppy. I ended up sticking with water. The menu is fairly limited, the food was fair in quality, tasted OK and the portions were fairly large - nothing special. Things got worse the longer we were there (absolutely not a long lunch by any stretch): our waitress was very rude about splitting a bill (she did not ask while we were ordering, and we did not specify until it was time to pay), storming off in a huff that "No one told HER anything about that!" Additionally, we were browsing the brewery's "swag" (shirts, growlers, drink ware, etc) and the staff was incredibly hostile - almost like they were guarding the merchandise. I am sure there was some kind of loss prevention mindset motivating this, but they were absolutely aggressive, acted annoyed that we were even interested in making a purchase, were irritable when asked about color/size options and were just generally off-putting. I did end up purchasing some drink ware, but regret it as I only supported this place in doing so and really don't want to advertise for them. Another person in my party was essentially shoved out of the way by staff while looking for a shirt size, and yet another person had their credit card thrown back at them with the cashier shouting that he needed the card numbers read to him because it wouldn't swipe in the machine (he apparently could not read the numbers himself?). It was also not particularly loud or busy when we were there, so this behavior on the part of ALL staff was absolutely uncalled for. I worked in a bar/grill for 6+ years in a resort community (on an island even, as it so happens) and totally understand dealing with tourists/travelers/people on vacation and how trying it can be, but the staff really needs some training on how not to treat people like garbage, they need to work on making MORE of the beers they are offering and educating servers about them, clean up the restaurant/reduce the fly infestation and step up the quality and variety of food they offer. It is unfortunate that this was our experience (and, from the looks of the reviews, the experience of others) but I doubt it will change as they are located in a prime location where tour groups appear to drop off. I will not go back next time I am on island and will be telling friends/family to steer clear as well. read more

Took 20 minutes to bring my friend's ale to the table, service was some of the worst i've ever had, took close to an hour for them to bring out my wrap i ended up getting it to go just so I could get out of there. Bad food, bad service, bad live band. If you're hungry near Port Allen I suggest you don't waste your time or money here. read more

I went here twice while on vacation. The beers were great! They have a good selection of IPAs and pale ales, as well a "experimental" brews (like taro beer). The bar tender remembered us and could not have been more inviting. The locals are very friendly, which makes it for a nice place to spend an afternoon. read more

Me and my wife ate at this place not too long ago on our vacation to Hawaii. We were seated quickly at one of the tables and we were asked what would you like to drink? We ordered two waters. The bar was swarmed with flies but we didn't realize how bad it was until we got our food. The beer was okay. I ordered the IPA cant recall which version but we kept on flailing our arms to keep the flies away and it felt like we couldn't get a bite to eat without having to constantly move our arms in the air to protect our food and our well-being from these nasty critters. We did come here a year ago and it wasn't that bad. They had doors open, no fans were going, and it was pretty muggy. We were dying to leave. My wife quoted that she would rather eat at McDonalds then to have to sit through that again and pay that much money. We think there may have been a new dump site close by, because there were so many flies. we will not be back. read more

Sit at the bar. We arrived around 5:45 or so, and were at a table for a few minutes and no one greeted us at all. We moved to the bar (and got serious stankeye from the hostess for doing so), and got fast service from the bartender. While busy, the bartender was friendly, prompt, and very cool. This is a good bar to hit up before (and after) Captain Andy's sailing company. We stopped here twice- before and after the sailing trip. Sisko and the Nathanial (night staff) were super friendly and awesome. Eric (day staff)- not so much. Beers are good here. Visited here on a trip with friends from Oahu. We were all in the mood for some craft beers, and since this was close to where we were staying. Food was great, beer was great, and the atmosphere was great for the chill night out we wanted. We were in a large group, so we had the automatic 18% gratuity tacked on to our bill. Which was fine and somewhat expected. What made me drop it down to 3 stars was the fact that we went to close out our tab, our server noticed that we were checking out some of the logo t-shirts and hydroflasks. He offered to keep our tab open and just add on whatever we bought, which at the time we thought was nice. Once we walked out after paying, we realized he had tacked on the 18% gratuity to the items we purchased as well. Kinda felt ripped off. read more

Ahi poke tacos are very tasty was expecting a soft taco but was hard shell we liked it went well with our 4 sample house beers
