I didn't find service particularly friendly when I came in on a Saturday afternoon when they had only 1 other person ordering before us. I excitedly remarked it being my first time there and asked when they had opened because it looked so new. The server could give a flying Fck. I wanted to try what they had and got the strawberry macaron, birthday cake in a glass jar, vanilla latte and vanilla bean scone. Everything was decent. Nothing I'd write home for. My son said the same thing, and the birthday cake I ordered for him he said didn't take like birthday cake. He liked it but said it should've been strawberry because that's what it tasted like. He didn't think the pastries were worth returning for and was the one who brought up how cold service was, which I noted. I like that the location is away from downtown, and that parking is easy, the place is really spacious and clean. I don't like the lip before going into their parking because, without fail, it will scratch your car on the way out unless you go reeely reely slow. My car is not lowered. Every car that exits their parking without fail scratches its front bumper. That's to no fault of this business that the curb is too high, but it's annoying. read more

The building is a little hidden but the scavenger hunt was well worth it. The bakery is directly behind the striped mall tucked within the blue fence. Once you entered, you see bakers behind the counter turning out baked goods. I got the rose latte which was fantastic, and love the aesthetic of the layered drinks. The rose taste is very subtle and the coffee is reminiscent of vietnamese iced coffee. My daughter got the matcha latte which was also pretty good. The barista actually whisked the matcha in front of us which I was pretty impressed with. The pastries are heavenly. The Vanilla Bean scone was moist and subtle. I'm personally not a fan of macarons but they were beautiful. The variety of flavors offered is amazing if you're a fan. The cinnamon caramel scone was quite good. The scone wasn't dry and not overly sweet. You can definitely taste the cinnamon and the caramel. They warmed it up for me which was a nice touch. The ice mocha latte was nice and strong. Perfect balance of chocolate and coffee. It had enough caffeine for a nice pick me up but not so strong where I'm wigging out after. We were looking for a coffee place close to my client's new property, and Kayla mentioned "Portuguese experience (we had a great time in Madeira in May).... and surprising to find an array of great pastries and awesome carrot cake in a jar. A beautiful little dessert shop in fullerton! My family came by to try out a few of their items this morning and WOW! The store itself is modern minimalist, super clean, and their staff are so kind and friendly. They helped us pick out a couple of their macaroons and iced tea along with an egg tart. I tried the smores macaroon and it was AMAZING! my daughter tried the Belgian chocolate which she loved and my husband got an egg tart, first time trying it and they warmed it up for us, it was great. I also got the peach blossom tea as recommended by Demar and it is lightly sweet and just perfect white tea with a hint of peach. Kayla's Cake is known for their cakes and macaroons. I don't normally eat macaroons, but I was curious about them. When I got here, there was no other customers... worked out for me. The shop is very bright, clean, and organized. You can see the bakers in the back whipping up cakes and all. The staff (Alex) who helped me was very friendly, pleasant, and answered all my questions. Thank you Alex! I was contemplating on which flavors to buy. I ended up buying all 18 flavors. If you're going to go BIG, why not go ALL BIG. LOL Each macaroon is $2.75. A couple of them costs $3.50. If you buy their pre-packaged boxes, they do cost more when you average them out per macaroon. The reason is because of their fancy box. If you don't care for the box, buy them individually to save some money. That's what I did. If you check-in on Yelp, they give you one macaroon for free. I got 18 for the price of 17. Thanks Kayla's Cake! I'm not going to critique all 18 in writing, but will call out the best ones IMHO. As listed from top to bottom below are my top preferred macaroons. They were delicious and I can actually taste their flavors and sweetness was just right. The cookie was very soft which is a plus. For the ones not listed (see photo for the others), they didn't stand out and all I got was a sugary taste (I couldn't figure out the flavor unfortunately) except for the lemon meringue pie which I did taste some lemon flavor. 1) Strawberry Hibiscus 2) Raspberry Cream 3) Belgian Dark Chocolate 4) S'mores 5) Galaxy Caramel 6) Oreo Cheesecake 12 out of 18 is a pretty high number of not-so-great ones which is not a positive outcome, hence, 3 stars. I wished this number was higher. But I was disappointed because I spent almost $50 on macaroons and only 1/3 was to my and my daughters liking. It is what it is. At least we tried them all and now we know which ones not to get. Macaroon prices are on the higher side. Their cakes are expensive, too IMHO, but they are very pretty. They have their own private parking which is nice. Anyway, if you haven't tried Kayla's Cake, do give them a shot. I am gonna scream this... GET THEIR COOKIES!!! Cookie Cookie Cookie. I got their smores cookie which is their delicious chocolate chunk cookie with nuts with a nice toasted marshmallow on top. I dropped by and noticed their sexy chocolate chunk cookie in a tiny display away from the macarons. I kinda felt guilty as if their cookies are their stepchildren of desserts compared to their fancy macaron. But I couldn't resist and got it. OMG, that smores cookie is good. It hits all the right notes when it comes to textures, sweet, a lil salty, chocolate chunks, and a bit of nuts to balance the entire cookie out. I also got a unicorn cake. I honestly needed a carrot cake for my conservative mother because she is old and traditional. What did I do instead to troll my mother? Get the unicorn cake and it was the best decision ever! I always love a good macaron and have enjoyed the ones at the Kayla's Cake kiosks throughout the Disneyland Resort. A few weeks ago I found my way to their actual storefront and I couldn't have been more thrilled. The opportunity to visit a freestanding store and try their goodies fresh was amazing. The beautiful space, the tasty treats, and the sweet staff made my first experience at their store one to remember. Kayla's Cake is tucked away on Gilbert Street in Fullerton occupying a large, clean white building with a free parking lot in front of their store. Upon entering the establishment, I was warmly greeted by the staff working out in the front. The woman working the register was very kind and patient as I stared in awe at all of the beautiful macrons to decide what to order. Upon selecting my macarons and waiting for them to get packed, I had a great conversation with the other staff member who was making drinks. Our exchange was warm, friendly, and a sense of appreciation for my business was definitely felt as we chatted. It not only made the time pass quickly as I waited for my macrons, but it also provided me with a sense of welcome to revisit their business again in the future. Macarons of course were delicious. I ordered several flavors including Lemon Meringue Pie, Harvest Apple Spice, Cookie Dough, Fruity Pebbles, and Pumpkin Cheesecake. Shells were a perfect texture and the fillings were light and an accurate taste to their namesake. Though they were bite-sized, they were packed with flavor. I wish I never ran out. I always come here when I need to gift sweets. Super happy they added more to their menu. Got a box of strawberry croissants that reminded me of Cream Pan. Didn't try one myself. I went today to try this place for the first time and it was so delish! the egg tart was super unique and had almost a sweet potato flavor. the coffee was super good and not too sweet (i got the snickerdoodle). they also have a free macaron when you check in on yelp! they had unique flavors like lemon merengue pie and crème brûlée which they nailed! the interior is super calming and simple. the customer service was nice too. watch your car on the way out of the driveway tho!! We were looking for scones, since they are listed 1st on the Yelp list under "scones". They don't have scones! They do have beautiful cakes and macarons. They did have chocolate croissant. We chose one and asked to have it heated up. Whenever I've had a croissant warmed up, it had come out crisper. Not sure if the used a microwave or something else but the croissant came out soft, sodden and collapsed. Nothing about it was crisp. Had a couple of macaroons and they were good. The woman who waited on us made it seem she was doing us a favor by taking to us. There was a nice young man, who was friendly and helpful. It is a pleasant setting. I asked if this was the location that bakes the treats and it was, which is then transported to the other locations. Each macaron was unique in flavor and colors. I decided to try about 8 different flavors along with the Yelp check in special they have currently. Also ordered the rose latte to go along with the cookies. They offer non dairy options if you choose. The macarons were just the right sweetness, lightly crunchy and light cream flavoring. Would be perfect with some tea or coffee to offset the tiny morsels of sweetness. Staff, the lady that helped me was friendly and knowledgeable with the items they offered. This place seemed like an enjoyable place to work with her demeanor and enthusiasm of explaining all the flavors. Good service, good food. You may be inclined to miss this location as it's off to the side of a busy main Street, tucked away right next to a residential area that may not get a lot of foot traffic. If you are fortunate enough to find Kayla's cake or are looking for it, you'll be rewarded with an amazing gem. Once in the shop it was fantastic browsing around and looking at the detail that goes into all the designs of not only the individual macarons, but the packaging of a set like you see in the tree on the pictures. The surprise winner of the trip actually comes in the form of the drink menu. I had the matcha latte with regular milk and it's probably one of the better matcha ice drinks I've had in a long time. Happy to try their coffee but I can imagine that it's of similar caliber. Thanks again Yelp team for bringing a place like Kayla's to the forefront! The only thing that patrons should be aware of is when you pull out of the private parking lot, the sidewalk cuts a little low and you're almost guaranteed to bump the bottom of your front bumper for underside of your car. This of course is not the fault of any of the workers or owner, but the product of real estate and city designing / maintenance. This is my first time buying macarons on my own, and wow, I'd visit this place again! GETTING HERE: When you're driving here, be careful not to drive past it like I did! It's not in a plaza facing the street, but right behind it. It's in a gated lot all by itself, without other stores. I got 6 flavors and an iced rose latte with whole milk. Rose Latte: Mmmm. So creamy and really rose-y without feeling over the top or fake. At $4.25, I think it's about standardly priced compared to similar places. And look how colorful it is too! It was a good blend of latte and rose. Macarons: I got belgian dark chocolate, double vanilla, earl grey, lemon meringue pie, creme brûlée and oreo cheesecake. My favorites hands-down were earl grey and the dark chocolate. A definite contender for best macarons in the Southland! Kayla's is located in a small building with its own parking lot on a side street just off Orangethorpe. Inside you will find a display case of their pastries, cakes, and macarons and just behind the counter is a huge window looking into their kitchen where bakers are making delicious treats. I ordered six macarons and a hot vanilla latte. The flavors I chose were raspberry, vanilla, lemon meringue pie, Belgian dark chocolate, Creme Brûlée, and gingerbread (a seasonal flavor). The cookies on each macaron were exactly as they should be - perfection! Slightly crisp on the outside and slightly chewy inside. Each flavor was spot on - easily identifiable without being told. Fillings were creamy and at a perfect sweetness level. The gingerbread was a delight and was not too strong. The Creme Brûlée was fun to eat with its extra-crunchy topping. But my favorites were the raspberry and the dark chocolate, each of which had the most outstandingly vibrant flavors according to my taste buds. I was informed their ingredients are shipped in from Europe. While the macarons alone are worth coming for I would also come just for their coffee. They make their syrup in-house so the vanilla in my latte was light and not overdone. More like a hint of vanilla behind the coffee rather than an in-your-face vanilla. The coffee itself was a smooth, full-bodied, medium roast that I really enjoyed. On a second visit I purchased a "cake in a jar", specifically the carrot cake. It was moist and delicious - "made with fresh grated carrots and walnuts, topped with cream cheese frosting & cinnamon pecan streusel". Surprised there are only three reviews for this place so far, with 22 that are currently "not recommended." It's in a rather obscure spot for a place that makes high quality macarons and cakes. When I first drove by I thought it was a vacant building because there wasn't a prominent sign outside. The building looks more like a former auto repair shop that got converted to a bakery. It specializes in macarons and cakes in a jar, but also has some other pastry items like cookies and croissants, as well as coffee drinks and other beverages. After the initial craze with macarons back around 2011-2012, I pretty much got tired of them and haven't had any since. There were too many places that made poor quality macarons so I got sick of them. I decided to give this place a try because the description and photos looked promising. Actually it was the unicorn macaron that sold me because my daughter likes unicorns. Macarons were definitely better than most places I tried. They were still sweet but not so sweet that you can't taste the flavor. Other places just tasted like sugar with no distinct flavor. My favorites are Creme Brûlée and Gingerbread (seasonal flavor). My daughter's favorite is Strawberry Unicorn (obviously). Cakes in a jar were also good. They are small but very rich and flavorful. The carrot cake was really good, although too sweet for my preference. Adding a bit of graham cracker crumbs in the cake made a big difference in flavor. The Valrhona chocolate cake was excellent. This place has two other locations, one in Downtown Disney and a kiosk at the Brea Mall. Since we are in a pandemic, this location is probably the best since it's not crowded, and also don't have to deal with parking issues. read more

I stopped in here with my wife over the weekend. She wanted to try the creme brulee which she luckily shared with me. It comes frozen which seems odd at first, but don't worry, it's great! And we were able to refreeze the leftovers for later. The top crust still stayed crunchy, for you naysayers. I also got an Americano which was very good. The service was excellent.
