Ok I'm trying to figure out why this place doesn't have better reviews. It's sooooo great and the employees are amazing. One lady was very comical and made our experience a lot better! We got the chef special and they added this fatty tuna and I swear it was the best tuna I ever ate! Of course I ordered more. Expensive but delightful, I don't regret it one bit! From the soup to the rolls and sashimi it was one of the best I've had. It was so fresh! We walked away full surprisingly and we usually eat a lot more. My husband was there two weeks after us and he took a group of 12 people there and they all loved it and it was very affordable.

What an absolute delight! Truly some of the best sushi and sashimi I have had in a very long time is found here at Kaze. Yes, come to Whistler for the skiing, but apparently you now must also come for the food at Kaze. With fresh fish deliveries from the world-famous Japanese fish market Tsukiji, and the masterful preparations of chefs at Kaze, the delicacy and flavorfulness will wow you, especially as you take your time, enjoying the sensory experience of dining at Kaze. Most definitely do not skip out on ordering one of the highlight items on the menu, Saikyoyaki, the owner Tom's famous barbecue black cod.

My wife and I ate here the other night after we spoke to two customers who said it was the best sushi that they have ever had, anywhere. I was a little hesitate due to the 3.5 stars, but after reading reviews that had nothing to do with the food and the recomendations, my wife and I decided to give it a try. We decided to try the Spring/Fall Special which included a little bit of everything and included a Hot Pot. It was all delicious and the Sushi and Sashimi were outstanding. We added the Black Cod and it was awesome as well. Maye was our server and was great as well. If you are staying at the Westin, you need to try this gem. This place is also Gluten-Free friendly.

So, I would rate this 3.5 if I could. Generally it was a good experience. The best thing was Tom (the owner) and how welcoming he was. We went twice. First time was for sashimi and rolls. We got to try a number of unique dishes (at a price). However, it was fresh. And we ordered three rolls that were all tasty but didn't stand out. What did stand out was Tom's cod which was beautifuly cooked and the their special which was tempura eel . So amazing. The next night we ordered the nabe and the cod and eel again. the nabe was okay but I am not sure if it was worth the price tag. And we both felt that the broth was salty and we couldn't finish it because we were so bloated. And we also orderd the sea urchin and it didn't taste fresh. So I wouldn't run back there but there may be more hidden dishes that are amazing. So if you are feeling lucky give this place a go.

We end up eating here more than once on every single trip to Whistler. We only order nigiri and always find it fresh and delicious. Tom is great and alway accommodating even the couple times we've tried to get in without a reservation. If they have the chutoro, o toro, shimaaji, and tai on the menu definitely don't skip these! To those complaining about not being able to order takeout, there is only one sushi chef, so it's likely they would not be able to keep up with takeout and dine in volume simultaneously. Don't rate a restaurant based on this.

I told the sushi chef I've had fantastic charashi and I want to see if his was as good...His was!

Great place. Fresh well done sushi. Tempura was crisp light and included green beans. You could tell they took pride in their restaurant. The service was very good ,the waitress was helpful attentive, the sushi chef was engaging and creative, the owner was there and came over to talk to us.

Service is laughable. But the pseudo-hotpots are even worse... the portions are so bad, and the prices... oh my god.

Sushi Village is a Whistler Village institution, having opened 40+ years ago (1985). So when we…read morewere in Whistler on a snow/ski/snowboarding trip with a group of friends, we definitely had to have dinner here. We were a LARGE group of 14 adults/teenagers. Fortunately for us, they have a tatami room that seats 14! Even more fortunately, it wasn't REALLY tatami seating -- low table with woven mats on the floor. Instead, it just looked like floor seating. The space under that table was recessed so you sit with your legs extended -- like sitting on a bench. The food was varied, with rolls and nigiri sushi, sashimi, udon, donburi, tempura, and more. There's definitely something for everyone. We ordered some of everything. And while everything was delicious, the standouts were the spider roll, super hiro roll, and crab claw tempura. Honorable mention goes to the strawberry sake margarita. The server handled our massive order of food and drinks expertly. Fun and casual atmosphere. Make sure to book a reservation as it is quite popular.

(Kari's Rating 7/10)…read more Came in with a group of eight around 5 PM, they said about an hour and a half wait ended up being about two by the time the other table wrapped up. Our server was very nice and relatively attentive as it was very busy. We ordered tons of apps, takoyaki, beef tempura, a few salads, 5 of the 10 piece chefs Nigiri, the miso cod, garlic beef, udon noodles and a few nigiri. We also got a bunch of hot sake, sake margaritas and a few Sapporo's. Overall a fun place, kinda expensive for what it is with the ocean being as close as it is and not very authentic, but the food was passable. Great for groups but you need to check in early or get a reservation.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! But I'll try!…read more1. Atmosphere/Ambience: we sat on the patio which was gorgeous. Soft lighting, nice landscaping, peaceful. The inside looked very cool in a completely different way. It was cozy but modern, not in a rustic way. I can imagine how nice it would be in winter! 2. Food & Drink: literally no notes. Love how the cocktails are organized by flavor profile. My husband and I loved what we ordered. We also loved all the food we ordered, but the seafood tower is a must have, as well as the chocolate lava cake! 3. Service: top notch! Our server gave us great recommendations, and was attentive without rushing us. We were celebrating our anniversary and the manager brought out glasses of champagne for us. Would highly recommend for a special occasion!

It was a very disappointing experience. We haven't visited Whistler in years, I was looking forward…read moreto this trip because we had booked what I thought was the top rated restaurant there but boy was I ever wrong. Their geoduck and clam pasts tasted okay but the serving size was laughably small, 2 large bites to perhaps 4 small bites at best. The worst thing was the overcooked geoduck, they're basically large clams and anyone who's cooked and eaten clams will know that overcooked clams turn rubbery and the few bits of geoduck were as rubbery as a rubber duck. The same applies to their Roasted Ling Cod, unless you enjoy overcooked ling cod, avoid at all costs. Amongst our group we ordered 3 New Your Steaks, we ordered medium rare, to their credit they were all cooked a perfect medium rare. Trouble was they were all way over salted. Too much salt to make them enjoyable, frankly I've had much better steaks at Denny's. As part of their prix fixe menu they had smoked black cod which I normally enjoy. Here they mashed the black cod into a chip dip which they served with their house made potato chips, While the dip was okay as far as taste goes, the chips they served last week on Wednesday night were all stale, not yet rancid but definitely stale. If the manager is reading this, I suggest he take a few and taste them himself. Prices weren't out of line since this is a resort area and restaurant pretty much can count on a "captive" clientele. However value wise this place should not be anywhere near the top of your go-to list.

This place has always felt like one of those "special occasion only" restaurants that are usually out of reach. The special menu was such a steal and so wonderful!!! Every course came out looking delightful, from the bright, delicate starters to the beautifully cooked mains to desserts that made us slow down just to savor the moment. I didn't want the food to stop flowing. Service was warm without being stuffy, the vibe was lively but still intimate, and the whole night felt like we'd accidentally unlocked a VIP experience. Araxi did not disappoint, though I'm disappointed in myself for missing their apres deal with a discounted fondue using cave aged gruyere! Definitely reserve ahead of time during peak season. They start you with fresh herbed ciabatta and sourdough with olive oil and butter, and both breads were great but especially so for our hungry kids. They had the most perfectly sharpened quality colored pencils and a coloring/activity sheet for the kids, which was much appreciated! Drinks: - The Cure: talisker 10, pineapple, mezcal float - Fig Jam: fig infused mezcal, apple cider, fig jam, spices - great to start They also had a good wine list, and they even had some local wines by the half bottle, which was a nice option, so we got a local Pinot. Food: - Oysters: island tide and kusshi, served with traditional mignonette and horseradish - Ricotta gnocchi: with wild mushrooms, cheesy lemon fonduta, crispy sage - a smaller portion but good for sharing as an appetizer - Pacific crab and matane shrimp cake: no fillers, perfectly seared, with a great local pear and avocado salsa verde - Seared scallops: perfectly seated, with local sunchokes, crispy prosciutto, grilled bok choy, xharred pepper romesco - Ora king salmon: similar to the kids' one but dressed up, with roasted beats, beet and ginger salsa, goat cheese arancini - House made bucatini: mentaiko style with spicy cod roe, humobldt squid, breadcrumbs. This had a nice kick, and the pasta texture was great - Kids' fish: seared salmon with risotto and bok choy - a generous portion of perfectly seared salmon! Dessert: - Valrhona chocolate fondant: warm gooey chocolate cake with tahitian vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate crisps Service was great and very kid friendly (including copper mule cups for their water!). We ordered a lot of food for 2 adults and 2 young kids, but everything was so great - every item was a hit. There's a reason why we keep coming back to Araxi!
