Big menu. Lots of breakfast and lunch choices. Nothing terrible, but nothing really worthy either. The 4*s would lead you to believe that there is something special happening here. On the food front, there really isn't. However, they have a lovely deck with 'misters' (cool water) that keep the out door deck cool on a 105 degree day. And the staff there is pretty friendly. Not obnoxious/7 pieces of flair friendly, just kind and happy to help try and make your meal more enjoyable. And if you are looking for a kid friendly place, you could do a lot worse. read more

I'm a regular at KC's grill but I want to take the time to write a review in this age of Sheltering in Place. Ordered pulled pork, and the bacon, cheese and avocado burger, the Asian chicken salad and the Cobb salad. The quality of the food was wonderful, the fries were hot and crisp and the serving sizes didn't diminish despite the current struggles. Compared to so many other restaurants that are obviously cutting corners, KC is going above. This far exceeded my expectations even for normal to-go. Thank you for being open and bringing some hint of normalcy in this crazy time. Next test: Chicken fried steak + salsa (My usual go-to). read more

Always friendly and accommodating. Personally I would ignore the bad review on 11/6 as this is from someone who has a personal, unrelated grudge. As a vegan I ask for something different and they come up with super-tasty alternatives. During the COVID crisis I notice they are very caring and careful in their practices. The wait staff has a remarkable memory for customers and their preferences -- and this has been true over the years as young servers come and go. They have kept a nice balance between a traditional, comfort-food environment and updates in food preferences, healthy alternatives and fresh presentation. The owners are respected, contributing community members. They take care to choose great local wines. The location is wonderful, overlooking Windsor's Town Green and parking is usually easy. But if you have to walk a block for this wonderful place, who cares!? read more

What a great find! Came in from Phoenix for a weekend in wine country. Was looking for a yummy place for lunch and I found it. The tri-tip mountain is my favorite dinner meal and never disappointed. Greeted with a smile every time no matter how busy they are.

Food is very good, but the waiter and waitress were beyond rude. Asking if something is actual chicken breast or lunch meat because I'm pregnant and cannot eat lunch meat, then getting a rude, snotty response is less than appealing. When asked if I need anything else and asking for a side of ranch and not being awknowledged and then when I ask again I'm told "I heard you, anything else" wow! Please, could you be any more rude? The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the food is REALLY good. Go there to eat delicious food, but plan to be belittled at every turn. read more

KC's has been an okay restaurant in previous visits with typically slow service. After a year of not eating here, we decided to try it again. This time, our dining experience was quite bad. Our order was taken a long while after we were seated (around 8 min), and our server was not very welcoming. Then, at least 5 tables or more were seated and got their food before us. Also, the busser took my beer away when there was obviously 1/4 of a mug's worth of beer in it! ...and she seemed quite pissy about taking it! About 40 Minutes after our order, we finally got our food. Because of the big delay, we got it to go. We didn't want to be in there anymore. The food was just okay and the fries were old and overly soggy. Apparently, the ordering device didn't send!!! Really??? Yes, equipment fails at times, but it's more likely a user error in this case. To add insult to injury/frustration, the manager didn't even try to address our frustration personally. The server finally took an item off the ticket - which was nice, but still no manager interaction. KC's showed very poor form in handling this otherwise understandable mistake. Tech has hiccups sometimes and people make mistakes, we get it, but they should have acknowledged the error and made it right. Many of the staff there seem capable and the food is okay (kitchen staff seems to be on the ball), but it's a gamble to get your order on time and have very friendly staff. We lost this time around. Our lunch today was very disappointing and we will not return. They got one star for the kitchen and the server's, albeit late actions to remedy the mistake. read more

Our hotel in Santa Rosa recommended KCs. So the 6 of us went up there. Cool location, fun signage and fantastic eclectic selection of entres. I had a grilled chicken Asian wrap that was fantastic, their homemade potato salad was creamy and delicious. Friends had the Reuben which was beautiful. Overpriced mediocre food. A lot of the menu is really pricey. The quality of the food is pretty mediocre. A lot of the items I had weren't seasoned well or were really lacking. The wait staff during my visit was a pretty mixed level of service. One server was really on top of things and doing a great job, while the other two were less than professional. One employee was openly complaining about her job while another employee was clearly less than enthusiastic. I certainly won't come back. read more

Meh. The food is good, but for what it is it is WAY too expensive. When the place isn't busy, it's a great place to go. When it is busy? Go find somewhere else to eat. The tables are SO close to together that you feel like you're dining with your neighbors. It's loud and uncomfortable. Once I sat near the kitchen area and one of the cooks (who I believe is the husband of the owner) went off on a tirade against one of the workers in the kitchen (which is open to the restaurant as you can see in one of the photos). It was embarassing and completely un-professional. The place is decorated really nicely, lots of stuff to look at, but it's still meh. Again, the food that I've eaten here has been delicious. Which includes means menus too large to sit with people at the same table comfortably, while making breakfast courses that are too large to eat without friends to help. I've been to KC's several times. The food is way over priced and the quality is lacking. The portions of the food seem to continuously decrease while the prices continue to go up. The food isn't bad, it's just not worth paying the cost of what they charge for not amazing food. As far of the service, the place is basically ran by teenagers for the most part. I'm really greedy at breakfast. I hate to admit it. Instead of just ordering one thing, I want a combination so that I don't point to my neighbor's breakfast and say, "I wish I had ordered that." KC's solves the problem. They have combinations of waffles/eggs or pancakes/eggs, with bacon or sausage. Fantastic! It's a busy little place, but we were lucky to be seated right away, as were most people. As soon as people would leave, more people would show up. I understand Sundays are particularly busy. Real downhome type hospitality. The only thing we objected to was being called "girls" by our very friendly waiter. Gosh. We haven't been girls since Nixon was President, and it cuts into our feminist ways. But the food was worth it. read more

The concierge at our hotel recommended coming here to satiate the breakfast cravings, so to KC's Downtown Grill we went. Note: It's AROUND the corner of the Starbucks! We got confused and walked right into the chain coffeeshop, and were embarrassed to have to pivot and head right out into the REAL entrance of KC's. I had the Eggs Blackstone; your eggs benedict made extra tasty with thick-cut, savory 'n sweet bacon. Absolutely delicious, I gobbled up the whole thing real quick. Top that off with a nice tall glass of OJ, and I had a swell breakfast to start off my day. I was totally enchanted by all the old glamor photos of Audrey Hepburn and the oh-so-beautiful Marilyn Monroe, the rugged shots of James Dean, and the classic movie posters that adorned the walls and tables. Overrated...I've come here many times but most recently was extremely disappointed. Last time my order was made incorrectly and this time our server was so rude, I lost my appetite. He gave us a breakfast menu at 11:40 and said we had a few minutes get a breakfast order in. When he came back I tried to quick order breakfast and he ignored me and refused to take a food order, would only take a drink order. When he came back I asked for a lunch menu, and he acted completely irritated. read more

Have tried this place twice in the last 4 days. I had breakfast the first time and lunch today. Both menu's are extensive! I tried the California Benedict and it was AWESOME. I had the fish taco's today and this too was AWESOME! My mom had the "Daily Special" which happened to be the 1/2lb. cheese burger w/onion rings. The burger was HUGE and the onion rings were SO GOOD! The server we had today was Jordan - he was an exceptional waitstaff! Jordan had a very pleasant and super friendly demeanor and he was very accommodating. I had ordered a Chai milkshake that arrived at the end of my meal. Jordan promptly advised that was his error and offered it free-of-charge. I was super impressed and I will continue to go back and hopefully continue to have great meals and service! I would definitely recommend this place to easy and yummy comfort-food dining!!! read more

Came in for prime rib on a Saturday. Website says "4:30pm until we run out". They don't serve it anymore and haven't for over a year -- "just haven't updated the website yet" we were told. Wonder what else isn't updated yet on the menu and used as a hook? This place is good for breakfast but otherwise won't come back. My husband and I came here Sunday for a late lunch after the Brunch rush. We sat on the brand new patio and had a wonderful lunch. We ended up talking to the owner Kathy who was such a sweetheart and took time out of her busy day to just have a small chat with us. I can tell that her and her husband are good business owners which is hard to find these days. They put a lot of pride and effort in their business and it definitely shows. Our lunch was great and the service was above expected. Great job Kathy and staff for providing what everyone wants when they dine out...delicious quality food along with outstanding service and a nice atmosphere. First off, let me explain that I always go to KC's for breakfast. I have no idea how their food is other times and frankly don't care. ;-) I go a few times a month when I am up visiting family. There's usually a group of us, a loud Italian family of 6-12 depending on the day. We talk, laugh, and usually tie up a big table for a good two hours. We make no apologies. Okay, so I have set the stage a bit. We could test the patience of most wait staff. However, KC's never makes us feel like we have worn out our welcome. Every now and again, they slip up...an order doesn't come out with the rest or a screwed up order. Whatever. Not the end of the world. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and keeps the coffee cups full. Big plus. On to food...I have three words for you: Loaded Potato Cakes. I have a weakness for exceptional hash browns. Their potato cakes are the most decadent hash browns ever. Since turning over a new diet leaf, sadly I had to give up the potato cakes, but something as mundane as Bacon and Eggs they do big. Five pieces of thick slices of crispy bacon. They do have a little bit of an issue with the proper definition of eggs over medium...more like over easy. Eggs over easy are over easy. Go figure. The cool thing is they offer the standard toast, but also some awesome coffee cake. I don't partake any longer, but it's still a favorite among many members of my family. They also make a great omelette and eggs benedict. Oh, and you can even have a cocktail with breakfast - truly enlightened. I would have given KC's the 5 stars with a little more consistency, but don't let that deter you. Good place, good people, good food. read more

By far our most favorite place to eat in Windsor. Every one is ALWAYS friendly and the service has always been good. We eat here two or three times a week. A lot of times we will meet up with good friends for breakfast on Sunday. The menu is huge and everything is good. And if your a big FACEBOOK user, be sure to join the KCs site. They do a KCs deal each month. This month is chips and salsa. Like I said we do breakfast, lunch and dinner hear all the time and have been going here since it opened. And in the summer we always bring my car to the Thursday Night Car show. Dave, Kathy, Lacy and Austen are the nicest people, in fact everyone there is like family! We have really gotten to know most of the staff and they always take excellent care of us when we are there. I'm a people watcher and it's fun to see how people react to there burgers. They are HUGE and really good! So when they bring them out, it's fun to watch the expression on peoples faces. My favorite is the "I Love Animals" burger. The place is cute and decorative but the food was average and I didn't like the service. My friend and I went for lunch and we both ordered wraps. I got the turkey pesto and my friend the veggie wrap. When my friend ordered the waitress gave her some alternative to her french fries; potato salad and onion rings. When I gave my order and she gave me my alternative she said "do you want potato salad or add on onion rings?" We didn't realize that onion rings were another 1.50 and so when my friend wanted to change hers back to regular french fries the waitress said "Oh, sorry. We just assume everyone reads the entire menu." In a tone that neither of us were fond of. Our food came out fast but once we were done with the food our plates were never cleared. We've both worked and restaurants and we know how to treat customers. Don't talk down to them like they're idiots, the customer knows how they should be treated. read more

I don't know about the other reviewers experiences with the owner but I went there with a group and the owner seated us. She was really nice. I have some pretty icky food allergies lately and she was glad to have the kitchen make me a bunch of steamed veggies even though it wasn't on the menu. I do think they use a lot of frozen or processed foods. They serve SUPER fast and there is no way you can make fresh food for a table of ten people in five minutes. They do have some fresh foods like salads and such. read more

Probably my newest favorite place to go eat!! Boyfriend and I decided to take a drive and ended up in Windsor. Downtown is so beautiful and peaceful, I mean granted it was Sunday afternoon but there was like almost no one around! It was calming. It was such a lovely day that we decided to eat outside. My boyfriend ordered the strawberry milkshake (or the smoothie) I think, but nonetheless it was delicious. Same with the buffalo chicken sandwich, oh and the French fries are pretty good too. Came here after reading other yelp reviews. Place is fairly easy to find with plenty of parking. Got seated right away and given the menu. The menu is huge and has all you could possibly want. I ordered a chocolate shake which was awesome and very thick. For an appetizers I got the spinach artichoke dip. I am glad I did...its the best I have had. I also got the fish and chips and it was huge...I took most of it home. Service was great and the waiter was really friendly and really good looking. Great arms. All in all I would recommend. My wife and I were visiting the area from So California and tried KC's based upon the good Yelp reviews. Glad we did. We were greeted politely and seated immediately. Our waitress, Sierra, was very pleasant and helpful, making food recommendations when asked, which turned out to be excellent choices. Sierra also provided some helpful suggestions for things to do in the area. The food came out reasonably quickly and was piping hot. I had the Southwestern Potato Cakes, which were delicious. Spicy, but not too much so. My wife had the Belgian waffle, which was perfectly crisp and extra flavorful. The atmosphere was nice...bright and cheerful. The only real negative was the booth seats, which were lumpy and a bit uncomfortable. However, the excellent service and great food made that easy to ignore. If we lived in the area, this would definitely become a regular stop for us. If you are looking for a great breakfast, give KC's a try. read more
