I was following a thread on the "Next Door" app. Someone had listed restaurants in my area which immediately got my attention. The first restaurant on the list was Kearney's Feed Yard. The poster tried it first and gave it high marks We were going to see "Star Wars" in the early afternoon so we tried the Feed Yard before we went to the theatre. The decor was nicely done. We had a very young wait staffer who did OK but lacked the sophistication of another waitress that we overheard near us. There was never a suggestion of an addition or alteration. This is not a big deal but if the owners are watching they might want to improve their training. She was very pleasant and moderately attentive. Our soups were well seasoned. They were lukewarm. I had the Tomato Bisque and Tish had the Tortilla soup. I tried the tortilla soup and it was very tasty as well. Tish ordered the burger. She was not impressed and the $1.50 for a slice of cheese grated (pun intended) on her nerves. $8 + 1.50 you'd expect some dazzle. She did like the fries. I thought they could have used hotter oil (we got there at opening so maybe they weren't up to temp). They were done well on the outside but a bit tough (overcooked) on the inside. My opinion, not Tish's. I won't complain about my Chicken Fried Steak. It was OK. I've had much better but I'm a snob when it comes to CFS. I'm sure most folks would like it. The mashed potato and gravy was OK. I would have preferred the gravy to be hotter and more of it. The taste was OK. Bottom line - with a bow on it - above average but nothing to crow about. We really thought it was a good looking restaurant (Tish used the word cute). The bar looked inviting but at 11 a.m. I thought better of trying it out. I'm saying it looked like it would be a cool hangout for the evening. They have outdoor seating but since it was raining like the dickens (yes I said dickens) we made the wise choice and remained inside. read more

This space is beautiful, especially outside. I'm writing this review as we wait for our food because we're so bored. We've waited over an hour for our food by now and we're not sure when we're going to eat because the table next to us have been waiting even longer. Right now that table is joking about chasing a cow down in the next field and seeing if they can make some butter from it to eat. While we've been waiting a poor food server wandered from table to table with a tray packed full of food trying to figure out what table ordered it. If we had known better we should've just said "yes that's our order" and taken whatever we could have gotten. Ooh while I was updating this our server came out and said our good should be out shortly! Fingers crossed. This place has the potential to be really great. I'll update this review about how the food is, if we ever get that far. Update: we got our food about 90 minutes after ordering. A table that got here probably 30-40 minutes after us with a bigger order than us got their food about 30 minutes ago. That stung. The table next to us got the wrong dessert attempted to be delivered to their table three times and it took about 15 minutes from their check being delivered to their card being collected to being able to pay and leave. As they were leaving they remarked about how great this place could be what a shame. Our food is actually good! Not worth the cost + wait, but at least it's good. Our food server disappeared either because he couldn't handle the shame of service or maybe he's put on an apron to attempt to help in the kitchen? I have no idea. I really hope they improve their game. But there's no way we'll be coming back here (this is a Thursday night, not a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) before we see reviews saying that it's not terrible here. read more

Ashley and I checked out the new Kearney's Feed Yard in Sunnyvale last night. For those who are like "huh" Kearneys is a very old feed store that has been on the corner of Beltline and Town East forever. A couple of years ago it closed, and two weeks ago it reopened as Kearney's Feed Yard. The place is cool, has a huge outdoor area with backyard games like cornhole, jenga, connect 4 and horseshoes. They have an outdoor stage, Biergarten, and a casual style food truck for big events on site. Inside, they have a gourmet menu that features steaks, pizzas, burgers and sandwiches. The bar looked huge, though I don't typically drink. The food was awesome, and the remodel is really remarkable, especially if you have memories going inside the store as a child like I do. It's pretty neat what they've done. The concept feels like something you'd see in a more trendy place like uptown. Two cool tips, if you Uber to the place and show your phone, they will take $10 off your bill to help cover the expenses. The other is that they do offer opentable and call ahead seating, so put your name on the list over the phone before you drive out. Glad to see a cool spot open up in Sunnyvale. read more

Family dinner on a Friday around 5pm: This place is 5 minutes from our house so we Decided to check it out. The place is nice and open! I love the decor! The wood high railings and cow leathers on the wall. It's got that barn farm style decor. The food was good not great. Chips and salsa were yummy. Wood style pizza was good. The naked wings were delicious. My chicken tortilla soup had good flavor but there was NO chicken in it! The margaritas for happy hour were strong, well the one on the rocks was! The frozen were 3 bucks and rocks 4 bucks! I tried both. On rocks was better and stronger! I checked out the back setting and it looked real cool! def uptown or lower Greenville setting. It was ok. The food was pretty good. Be specific when you order drinks. I ordered a bloody Mary and got a bloody Mary that I didn't order. Potato fries were good. My sunny side up eggs were a little undercooked and I waited for toast too long so the eggs were cold by the time the toast arrived. It was an ok brunch read more

Service was sloooow...Food seemed to be ordered from the Ben E Kieth food catalogue. Pleasant atmosphere.

The food we had chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. Both were the best you didn't need a knife . Their jalapeño gravy was killer good and brown gravy was excellent. The service was spot on . The girl was new but kept chatting with us. The Ambiance was good. I went there when it was a feed store. The bar area to me was best . My husband and I came here for the first time tonight, we walked in and were instantly greeted and shown to our table. It was a slightly busy night too. Once we sat down, our waiter Luke came to take our drink order and answered all questions we had about the food, and any suggestions he had and Soon after took our order. We ordered the catfish and pork chops and both were a 10/10. All the staff was so friendly, the live music was great and the whole atmosphere was so relaxing! Went to dinner last night with the family at this new spot. Our waitress, a sweet brunette, was excellent in checking on us and good with my picky 5 yrs old. We started with the tasty chips and queso. 3 of us had the CFS with mashed potatoes for the entree and agreed it was so good! We sat inside this time, but went out afterward to check out the big outdoor space. They had live music playing and it felt like it would be a fun atmosphere as long as weather is decent. I'm so glad that someone opened a restaurant concept like this in the area instead of the usual places like Plano, Oak Cliff, Frisco or Lower Greenville. We will be back! read more

I drive past this location every day on my drive to and from work. When they first opened they weren't open for lunch but they are now open for lunch. I sat at the bar at about 11:15 and they were still getting things set up in the restaurant. It took a couple minutes for someone to greet me, but once I was greeted two servers/bartenders were very attentive. I ordered a glass of wine because it's Friday and I'm taking an early weekend. The wine tasted a little off likely was opened the day before. When asked how things were I mentioned the wine and she opened a new bottle and it was right on. Both ladies checked to see if I was happy with the new glass. I tried the zucchini sticks. They come with a marinara and an solo sauce. The wiki sauce was addictive. I liked the contrast of still crisp but juicy zucchini and a crisp breading. The breading wasn't too much but it was a little greasy on my hands. This didn't deter me from mowing them down which is the ultimate litmus test. I was asked how they were and she said they are still working on perfecting the recipes. I appreciated that they asked for feedback and listened. That is how you get better and from some of the prior reviews they probably needed to. The burger was very good. The bun was excellent and the fries were fresh and natural. Very good burger experience. $2.50 seemed a lot for bacon so I passed, but will definitely come here again for a burger. Overall, I had a good experience and am really happy we ha e this option in town. I can't wait for weather to heat back up so I can make use of their outdoor area and activities. read more

To start, I really wanted to like it here. We started off with fried pickles and they were hands down amazing. My husband got the steak and ordered it medium, it came out well done. The wine glass was disgustingly dirty and you could even see the lip marks from the person who drank from it previously. I pass by this establishment every day to and from work. I work overnights, so I tend to use a delivery app to bring me my food. To begin, my order consisted of the chicken fried steak (which comes with mashed potatoes, two slices of bread/toast and your choice of soup or salad), queso with chips and salsa, and a baked potato. The good stuff: I'm a sucker for a good salad, even if it's just a measly side salad. The salad isn't anything really all that special. Just the basic greens, tomatoes, croutons, and cheese with your choice of dressing. Mediocre stuff: The mashed potatoes were huddled in the corner of my poor take out box like that piece of unwanted playdoh that gets left in the bottom chute of the squeezy mechanism. Tried it with the supplied gravy. Really had no change to it. Bad part: The salsa had a very strong herb presence. I'm Texan. I love salsa as much as the next person, but I couldn't eat it because of the overpowering herb. The baked potato was okay. I chose butter, sour cream, cheese, and bacon on the app. They also sent chives. I don't eat those. The potato is also really small. Kind of like the type you'd plant, not the size you'd serve as a baked potato (@$6). It was really salty. The biggest disappointment of my meal. Yes. I'm talking Thanos snapping everyone out of existence disappointment. The chicken fried steak. WAS TOO SALTY. I'm glad that I don't have a medical condition that doesn't let me have salt. I put the gravy on it, didn't help. Still, salty af. Attempted to use the bread/toast that came with it. Buttery, but like the CFS, salty as all hell. I'm not sure if I'll ever try this place again, which is sad because I remember when it was the feed store. But, if I do, I won't be getting the CFS or baked potato. read more

First time we tried this place - I talked to a few friends that had tried it and I didn't have any expectations. Being open to the experience I can say this was a fun place with good staff, good food and good drinks. I had the grinder burger with sweet potato fries and 2 TX whiskey sours and ate everything. Due to the pandemic, we haven't dined in at a restaurant since March 2020. Our waiter "Rob" was so friendly, funny, knowledgeable and very professional! Tonight was our first trip to Kearney's and we will be back! This wasn't a flawless outing, but the food, atmosphere, live music, and drinks are worth many trips back. The Food: My sirloin was perfectly cooked just the way I ordered. The loaded baked potato was fluffy and LOADed! My food looked so good and tasted so good I forgot to take a picture. My husband's chicken fried steak was HUGE. Lots of mash potatoes and cream gravy. He said it tasted great. As a starter we had the jalapeño chicken cheese puffs. There were several (more than two of us could eat). I was hoping for more jalapeño, but they were good - no complaints. I hope they stick to good "feed yard" menu items! Drinks: I should preference my review with the fact that I just recently moved back to TX from KY (bourbon country). I nervously ordered an Old Fashion and was pleasantly surprised! It was made with a good High Rye, perfect amount of bitters and raw sugar with an appropriate cherry (not an ice cream maraschino cherry) and orange slice. I wish they had used a block ice rather than soft drink ice because it watered down the drink. However, overall I liked it. I would love to see their take on a smoked old fashion (with proper ice). They had a nice selection behind the bar, which I will be back to try while listening to live music. My husband had an Arnold Palmer and the waitress kindly asked if he wanted unsweetened tea or sweet tea (nice) - it was good. The staff was friendly and clearly some are still learning, but what impressed me most was their teamwork. It just happened that there were three accidents while we where there. One involved three full plates of chicken fried steaks crashing behind us. The team worked quickly to address the accident (which was not the waitress' fault - just a freak happening). One waitress confirmed the orders with the table and immediately went to the kitchen to get replacements started. Two cleaned up the initial mess and then three followed them with a full floor cleaning - ALL in just a matter of minutes. No one yelled or lost their nerves the team just worked quickly to clean it up and take care of the guests. Some reviews have highlighted the kinks in service, but those will get worked out when you have a great team. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

I'll start out by saying service was really good from the attractive hostess that greeted us and sat us at our table and the server who waited on us but the food was a bit on the pricey side and not all that great. I ordered an $8.00 hamburger and paid an extra $1.50 to have cheddar cheese added and it was nothing special. The buns were SMALL and so was the burger. The comment I made to my dining partner was "this looks like something I would make at home". Actually, the hamburgers I would make at home would look way more appetizing than what was served. I ordered onion rings as my side item (which is what listed on the menu), but what they actually served were onion strings which is not that big of deal but they got cold in a matter of minutes as if they had not been freshly prepared and were just sitting around and added to the plate. Like so many others have said, this place has a great environment and has so much potential to be better but I wouldn't go back unless it was under different management. I don't mind the pricing. Stopped in for a quick snack and brunch. The fried pickles are perfection. Lightly breaded, with a crisp, crunch finish. Their ranch is the perfect thin buttermilk house blend. Visited for the first time on Valentine's Day. The place was no where near full when we arrived. After being seated, twenty minutes have gone by, and no one has even acknowledged the fact that we exist. Yet, all the people around us (who arrived after us) already had their drinks and their orders had been taken. The waiter in our section walked passed us time and time again. He never even turned and looked at us. We weren't waited on until we asked the hostess why we were being ignored. Was it just a coincidence that we were the only people of color, and we were the only ones being ignored? Then they tried to play it off like it was an oversight. How do you miss a rather large table of five when you're the only waiter in that section, and the restaurant isn't even very full? You should probably train your wait staff to at least pretend they're not racist. On another note, the food was mediocre. Definitely not worth jumping through hoops to be waited on. read more
