Wow was I pleasantly surprised! On our last day of being in Glenwood Springs we popped in for a quick lunch right as they opened. We got the fried chicken appetizer, a hot and sour soup, honey walnut chicken, yaki udon noodles, and salmon sashimi to try. Everything was so good! The noodles had that firey taste you can only get on a wok. The hot and sour soup was perfectly spiced, not too spicy. The honey walnut shrimp came on a bed of broccoli, fried egg rolls wrapper, and a side of rice. Finally I have to admit, we only got the sashimi to test out the fish quality. I'm glad we did, because it was great taste! It was spacious, and causal. They have outdoor seating that is slightly covered. The service was great, as they were attentive and quick! On our next trip up to Glenwood Springs, we would definitely come back. read more

Our group of 4 enjoyed a lovely dinner on the patio at Ming's! Service was very friendly and helpful with great suggestions for sushi rolls! One had the shrimp pad Thai and enjoyed. Ming's restaurant is very nice and clean with beautiful pictures on the wall. Having eaten at many Asian restsurants I decided on the Thai fried rice with shrimp. It was very good and larger in size for take home as a second meal. The shrimp is very large and fresh. I did not like the Seczhewan dumplings. The sauce tasted like a general saos paste from a bottle. The dumplyings probably taste better in a soup. My server kept forcefully telling me how good the sauce was. Sorry no its not that good. This is worth a try! We will be back soon. The green curry with shrimp was superb. No mass-produced, canned sauce here!! We enjoyed the plentiful shrimp and vegetables, and the flowery taste of the sauce. I love to cook, and find most restaurants to be lacking compared to cooking at home. This restaurant deserves a five star review!! The sushi was absolutely delicious. The fish was very fresh and the quality was exceptional. We stopped by for an afternoon snack and had salmon nigiri, albacore and a few rolls. Everything was exceptional. Absolutely not the cheap tasteless salmon you get at some restaurants. I spent 10 years in the San Francisco Bay area eating the most amazing sushi so I have a very discerning pallet. I highly recommend this restaurant. After being dragged along on a hike that was a little bit more challenging than anticipated, we really wanted a meal that is heartier than brunch. Ming's looked promising as they had Chinese, Thai and Japanese food. So many options. We were probably the first customer of the day but glad to see more people pouring in as the day went on. Not sure what they specialize in, we got a chicken satay for app, a spicy tuna crunch roll and a sizzling beef with scallops entrée to share. The sushi tasted good but the presentation was a little lack luster - usually you can tell their sushi skills by the way their sushi roll is cut... not going to be super critical as we're in Glenwood Springs, I'm sure the talent is harder to get here. The satay chicken also had great flavor but was a little bit overcooked. The sizzling beef plate was as delicious as it was appealing... I think maybe their strong suit is their Chinese food. There wasn't as much protein as I'd like for a plate (scallops and beef) but the veggie were plentiful. The portion size was great for the satay and the entrée and the sushi seemed slightly skinnier than what I'm used to in town. All in all the service was great, food tasty and restaurant was very clean. Food came out pretty fast too after ordering so I'd highly recommend if you're craving Chinese food to give Ming's a try. read more

I was soo looking forward to trying Ming's, but unfortunately the service and quality were just not at all acceptable. My younger brother was served a drink that had been sitting on the bar for 15+ minutes. The bartender seemed brand new; still counting seats and not sure of what liquors they had not to mention his lack of service. We sat for about 20 minutes waiting for him to take our orders and after he took them he failed to get our drinks before the food came out. The food unfortunately was just the bare minimum from Sysco with no flavor and some plates were almost completely inedible. Once our food was served the bartender completely ignored us I finally had to make a complaint and ask someone else for our check. And to top it all of there was a mouse that ran from one side of the bar to the other. If you're thinking about Ming's definitely do not go there when they are busy and don't expect high quality. After a day of soaking at Glenwood Hot Springs and a massage at Yampah Vapor Caves, I decided to treat myself. Ming's is a small Asian restaurant on Grand Ave adjacent to the CO Hwy 82 bridge. Large menu. I started a globe glass of Unshackled Sauvignon Blanc from California. I saw several customers eating the same soup, Coconut Chicken. Large pieces of chickenand white mushrooms. Extremely good. I added a sushi appetizer of Tuna Tataki with slightly grilled ahi tuna in a pepper sauce. I got a 2nd glass of wine. Next was a large platter of Sushi Sashimi with several types of tuna and salmon. I substituted their California Roll with their Glenwood Roll. It was made with crab, apricots, macadamia nuts wrapped with tuna & avocado. I got my 3rd glass of wine. I overheard the the large list of desserts including cheesecake and mochi ice cream, but opted for the chocolate cake with chocolate fudge layers. A wonderful repast. I was served by Guadalupe. This place was slammed on Thanksgiving, but the service and food was speedy! We both had fantastic udon dishes - the Black Pepper Beef Udon and the Yaki Udon with chicken. We also had the chicken lettuce wraps which I highly recommend. Both udon dishes were super tasty. The Black Pepper is the correct description as it has an extreme black pepper flavored gravy/sauce. I loved it, but if you don't love black pepper you may not. read more

We visited from out of town for Thanksgiving and were hoping to enjoy a nice Asian meal as a family. Instead, the experience felt like being stuck in a slow-moving line where everyone behind you somehow gets waved ahead. We were told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. It turned into an hour. Our group had 8 adults and 3 kids, yet we were seated at a small table for six. The table next to us was finishing up -- perfect for us -- but when I asked about it, the staff said they were giving it to another party of nine that had just arrived because "they have more adults." We had been waiting far longer, and we also clearly needed the space. It felt unfair and dismissive. When I expressed my confusion, the service noticeably slowed, and the attitude from the staff only made things worse. If you're traveling with kids or a larger group, brace yourself! Patience doesn't necessarily get rewarded here. I hope management reviews how they handle seating and customer service, because this was not the welcome we hoped for during a family holiday trip. read more

I'd had my share of fried food and really wanted something different. Ming's Cafe hinted at some yummy dishes, so I headed over with high hopes. It's a small restaurant that is decorated and designed beautifully-every corner is accounted for, with no wasted space. I appreciated the nice touches like the lighted ceilings and the nice bar. The location was perfect-right along the main street where all the action is. The food, however, was ok-not amazing, but alright. My Pad Thai was a little more on the sweet side than I would have preferred. The egg drop soup, however, was delicious. The service was touch-and-go. I think they might have been understaffed for the holiday weekend and we had to wait an uncomfortable amount of time to receive our check. We never had our drinks refilled-even though we had empty glasses on our table. Overall, it was an ok experience. Stopped in for dinner and the place was packed. Couldn't fit at the bar so we opted for a table along the wall. The tables are very close to each other but that's how much restaurants are in Glenwood since the buildings are old and small. The service was very friendly and they took great care of us. Dirty dishes were promptly cleared and our drinks never went empty. They only had 1 person making sushi so they were telling everyone that it would take a little while for sushi to arrive. I felt their cocktail list was a little boring and they didn't have many options. They have a full bar though so you can order whatever you want. The spicy edamame definitely lived up to its name and had a kick. The sushi was all pretty good and the Downtown Roll was our favorite that we ordered. Hands down the best Singapore Laksa I've had -- a true 10/10. Every noodle dish we tried was delicious, but the laksa absolutely stole the show. The broth was rich, deeply flavorful, and perfectly balanced -- the kind of dish that lingers in your mind long after the bowl is empty. It's been two days since we ate here and it's still all we can talk about. This is the perfect post-hot springs meal: comforting, nourishing, and wildly satisfying. Came here to eat with three other people on a Friday afternoon, around 4:45. There was another party of 6 and a couple eating indoors with us. The curly blonde waitress was pretty rude and almost upset with us for ordering multiple rolls. She then went to the 6 top table to inform them that THEIR food was going to take awhile because the "other table," (us) ordered a "ton," of sushi. She came off rude and almost blaming us for the reason food was taking awhile. We never got our 4 soups or our sushi appetizer that we had ordered either. My wife and I were visiting from Oregon . Our daughter lives in Leadville and she is staying with us in an AB&B in Glenwood Springs. We were in the mood for some Asian food so I found the best one in town. Ming's has an extensive menu of Sushi and Thai food. We had a couple of Sushi rolls to start our dinner off. An order of Sweet Potato and Yellowtail rolls. They were on the small size but tasted good. My daughter had the South Canyon Roll Spicy tuna, mango, avocado, topped with white fish, olive oil... My wife had Broccoli Wok Fresh greeen broccoli & carrots in a brown garlic sauce... Tofu was added I had the Royal Veggies Mixed veggies in a brown garlic sauce.... Chicken was added Our wok dishes were large, flavorful and tasted great. The sushi entree had the same theme as the appetizers. Small but tasty. During delivery, staff use their bare hands to grab food directly from the dishes and eat it, without gloves or utensils, and then serve the remaining food to customers as-is. First off we ordered Spring Rolls as the appetizer, what we got were oily egg rolls with a hard to chew filling akin to plastic straws. My main course was Lo Mein noodles with beef added. Again, the dish was extremely oily and somewhat bland tasting all around. My guest had the Royal Veggies which she enjoyed. This was easily my favorite spot to dine in Glenwood spring. The cafe is clean and soothing and staff is always so helpful and quick. I always order their Thai Basil Tofu and Thai green curry and quality is top notch every time. We order a level 10 hot and they don't disappoint. Most delicious Thai tofu I have every had and they use a lot of fresh Thai chilli so and none of the paste crap. I would highly recommend trying this on your next visit to GS! read more
