    Martine and whiskey sour!
    Tami A.

We've been to Penny Farthing before but this time it was just us, and honestly it was really nice. It was a Friday night and surprisingly there was no wait, which kind of shocked me. We got this cute little two-top by the window that looks out toward Chuckanut Distillery, so we could watch people doing their tours while we ate. Perfect little spot. We spent a while staring at the menu (I always get decision paralysis with big menus) but I finally settled on what was basically a key lime pie in a glass. SO good. Like creamy, tangy, and the graham cracker rim just sealed it. My husband got a whiskey sour, also excellent, perfectly balanced. We both went for our favorite crab bisque (still amazing), and then he got the cheese dip while I ordered the caprese sandwich. I was a little bummed it didn't come in halves. I just can't eat as much as I used to, but it was fresh and delicious, no complaints on the flavor at all. Our waitress was great, super friendly, joked around with us, patient with my indecision, just really on it. The vibe in there was lively and a little loud but fun, like everyone was having a good time. All around just a really nice night. Fun energy, sweet waitress, and the food still hits.

Eggplant parmesan sandwich with house made chips and marinara on the side. Flavorful, easy to eat, and delicious

We played "restaurant roulette" for lunch by pulling up nearby spots on Yelp, closing my eyes, and scrolling to pick. That is how we ended up at Penny Farthing inside Chuckanut Bay Distillery, and I am glad we did. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, not too loud, not crowded, and we were seated right away. Prices felt reasonable for the quality. Our waiter was friendly and made the experience easy from start to finish. The food and drinks were excellent. I had the eggplant parmesan sandwich, which was flavorful and satisfying. These sandwiches can sometimes fall apart and be messy, but this one held together and was easy to eat. It came with potato chips that tasted made from scratch and paired nicely with the sandwich. My husband ordered the "pot pie" pizza, which was such a fun surprise. It comes baked in a cast iron skillet and is flipped upside down at the table to reveal a deep dish pizza. He enjoyed it so much he talked about trying to recreate it at home. For drinks, I tried the Bee's Knees cocktail, which was bright and refreshing, while my husband went with the upside down pineapple cocktail, one of their specials. Both were fantastic. Overall, restaurant roulette was a win. The food, drinks, and atmosphere made for a great lunch, and we would love to come back when we have more time to try a distillery tour or special event.

Stopped by for a couple of drinks after Fire & Story. Friendly staff and an interesting drink menue. Place was pretty quiet for a Saturday evening after 8:30. Not a large beer menue but lots of cocktails to choose from.

Had a nice early dinner. Quickly & easily seated right before 3 pm on a Friday. Water was brought to the table and shortly thereafter drinks arrived. The menu is small but there were choices for each of the four of us. I had shrimp and polenta which had two chili peppers infused into the butter sauce. For me it was perfect but my wife couldn't try it because she can't handle spice at all. There was no mention of "spicy" on the menu. In the end our plates were empty. We will most definitely come back multiple times to try more items.

The drinks were mixed and served well, tasted great. Food was very good too. Slow 6 service was good, but could if been better. A good little place to go enjoy some booze and food. Kinda like an old speakeasy place.

    Bourbon Crab bisque

Stopped by for lunch the other day. We were greeted warmly and sat outside to enjoy the nice spring weather. Since lunch was at a distillery I felt obligated to try one of their aged negroni blanc cocktails. It was a tasty spin on the classic negroni cocktail. The chambrey blanc vermouth added a nice floral note. My wife and I split the bourbon crab bisque and the chicken donner sandwich. Both were tasty and good eating. The bourbon bisque had a distinct bourbon flavor and lots of crab chunks. A slight spicy bite contrasted with the richness of the cream. The chicken donner sandwich is made with a large pita. It is stuffed with tasty sauce, tomatoes and other vegetables, and lots of chicken. Splitting the two dishes gave both of us a good amount of lunch. A tasty spot for a casual bite and a cocktail in downtown.

This is a must stop for great food and drinks! Don't forget to take the tour of the distillery, too. The staff is great, but a special mention goes out to Sarah and Nat!

This place is amazing! It has a cozy industrial feel and our server, Autumn, was so friendly. We enjoyed the Whiskey Queso Dip, Green Man's Garden Salad with Prawns and a white balsamic vinaigrette, and Dock Street Filet sliders. I had an Old Fashioned and my husband had their house made bourbon on the rocks. We will definitely be back!

Old World Deli is a true Bellingham staple- have been coming here for the last 5 years, been to…read moretheir swag raffle when they were rebranding for renovation, met the owner and even did wine tasting. They've renovated recently, but kept the heart of what makes the place special. It's now more modern, but still feels the same in all the right ways. Every time we're driving to or from Vancouver, this is a must stop for us. Folks that work there always give me the feeling they they like what they do and they know what they are doing. Their wine selection is quirky and fun. And near the register, there are often bottles you just won't see in typical US liquor stores. I usually pick one or two to try. On the food side, we always, always get the beet salad, german potato salad and mac salad- they are all made european style. Those are non-negotiable sides for us. Last visit they had a watermelon gazpacho on the specials menu that perfectly balanced sweet and bright, super refreshing. What they do best is keep things simple but execute flawlessly. A good chunk of the sandwiches you can get half ( then they become slightly expensive halves due to pricing :) )Great bread, great ingredients, no fuss. The Italian sub is proof. It's classic and spot on. My personal go-to, however, is the horseradish roast beef, fantastic combination. And the rotating panini specials are always worth a look. If you're passing through Bellingham, give yourself an excuse to stop in. We certainly do, every single time
