Updating my review to five stars. I stopped by today for the first time. A young gentleman greeted me and handed me the menu. I ordered an à la carte of the shoyu chicken. The order consisted of 3 pieces of boneless chicken thighs and lots of sauce on the bottom. I hadn't eaten shoyu chicken in quite awhile and must say this one hit the spot. Tasted just right! Real homemade. Customer service won me over. This young man was on-point in every way; not only in serving the customers, but I got the impression how much he took pride in his job. I was skeptical when I first walked in. It's a tight space, hole in the wall next to one of the more famous restaurants KimChee 7. To be honest I never actually heard or noticed this place till after seeing a viral post. Anyway! We came for the poke nachos and Mexican street tacos, oh and I was on the look out for pastele stew but they were out. The nachos were huge, I mean enough for atleast 4 people. The street tacos were ono, I wasn't a big fan but we enjoyed it. But the elote was amazing!! I went back twice since last week to get my fix and both times it hit the spot! Look at this big beautiful thing, that is the poke nachos! WOW!!!!!! It's huge. So keep that in mind when you're wanting to have a snack. Because it could easily feed 2 people (or one person a couple of times). The won ton chips taste homemade, not store bought, which is sooooo good. Mouth watering, just thinking of ordering this again. We ended up doing take out, because the place looked a bit crowded (it is really small). It was still fresh and crunchy (chips) when we got home. While in the area, I found this place. What got my attention was the feel of local and not tourist. The place was very clean and the service was very friendly. She gave her recommendations on some of the items they're known for. We went with their spicy ahi poke bowl and pork nachos. The ahi was good but seemed to be missing something. The rice, it came with, was very tasty. As for the nachos, I'm a bit mixed on this one. The chips were not your typical corn tortilla chips, the cheese and sauce was good but the pork just didn't seem to go with it. Although I'd recommend this place and may eat here again, it wouldn't be on my top places to choose from. read more

Came in, wasn't very busy inside but the person in charge of taking orders and packing to go orders was overwhelmed enough to suspend taking orders for over 15 minutes. In the time that my order was finally placed (after 15 min of waiting) and received (another 20 minutes later, for poke entrees aka requiring no cooking), the poor woman who ordered before me still hadn't received her chicken quesadilla. The issues with today's service were not completely on the woman at the front, as she had to go back to the kitchen to continuously ask for things to be ready, but the cherry on top was parts of my order being incorrect. At that point, I resigned myself to not finishing my food and going somewhere else capable of delivering on what they promise. 11/15/25 Got here for an early dinner, about 5ish and the place was empty so we had our pick of what table to sit at. We were greeted by a nice young man who brought us the menu and water right away. It had been a long time since I'd been here and my friend and I were hankering for some Hawaiian food. We each selected the same thing, the pork laulau combo - pork laulau, lomilomi salmon, haupia, and pulehu chicken for $25.95. The plate also comes with rice, which we did not want & opted for the poi for an additional $5.95. When my friend told the waiter she didn't want the rice, to leave it off, he told her, well it comes with it anyway. She didn't want to argue with him so she said ok. Which is weird because why give the customer something they do not want on the plate?!? It was a short wait and when the waiter brought our food, it was already in a take-out box. When I opened the plate, everything was wrapped or in containers except for the rice. The laulau was wrapped in foil, which is expected and also the pulehu chicken was wrapped in foil. Haupia and lomilomi salmon was each in small containers. A nice surprise was the poi. I expected a small container like other Hawaiian food places do, but we were give a bigger container that had at least 1/2 cup+ of poi. It got kinda messy trying to undo the foil from the entrees, especially the laulau because after you peel off the foil, then there's the ti leaf. The laulau tasted ok, not too much fatty pieces but not dry. I was disappointed at how small the portion was though. For the price of the plate, I would have expected a little bigger laulau. The pulehu chicken had some good flavor. I've never had plulehu chicken & it was ono, lots of flavor with a little bit of kick. They give you 1 piece of boneless/skinless thigh, about 3-4 oz. The lomilomi salmon was good even though these days everybody chops it up in minced sized pieces. Haupia was thick and creamy. For the rice we ended up taking home, it was a huge scoop, like 2 cups of rice. The poi was nice and sour, like how I like it. Usually when I get poi at restaurants, they give you fresh poi. When we were done, the waiter brought the bill and we asked if we could split the check. When he brought the new check, we noticed it was a cashless payment and there was nothing for us to sign nor to leave a tip? So we ended up leaving a cash tip. Overall, the food was ok, just wished we had more on the plate since it was a pretty pricey plate. The restaurant is clean and the service was good, friendly wait staff. read more

Stopped by for some Hawaiian food....but ended up with Mexican. The laulau was still cooking and I was hungry so I changed up my order and went with the chorizo burrito. Glad I did. The burrito was very tasty and was packed with meat, rice, and beans. It came with a side of black beans and Spanish rice. Everything in my order was $33 and the meat in the Lau Lau was tiny. The price for what you get is really expensive compared to other Hawaiian food restaurants. The taste of the food was also not the best. It wasn't terrible but it was extremely salty. Saltier than other Hawaiian food restaurants. The poi also tasted sour, which I didn't like. The haupia though was really creamy and yummy. Service was fine, but it's weird that they serve everything in take out containers for the dine in folks too. Located across the Pearl ridge shopping center next to 7 11 and KFC in a small shopping center. We decided to get some Mexican food, we tried the local food there and wanted to try their Mexican food. I ordered the burritos plate which was pretty big and came with Spanish rice and black beans. The burrito was tasty with kalua pork meat and the sauce was tasty and spicy. The Spanish rice was okay it lack the taste and wasn't moist but more on the dry side. The black beans were good. My wife cheese quesadilla was on the okay which was a good size portion. Service was great and friendly! Parking lot is a good size but gets crowded during lunch time as some cars were blocking other cars while they went into grab items from 7 11. The poke was so fresh and the way they combined it with the pork was unbelievable. Even the nacho chips had the most amazing flavor to them. This plate was so big you need to share!! The street tacos are the best I have had here!! Service top notch, they made my food personal for me, with spice level that would satisfy my soul. Had this place booked marked for some time and was excited to try some items I've been eyeing. I really wanted to like this place but it fell short for my friends and I. We were so excited to try the poke nachos but when it came out it did not look like the pictures on yelp. Instead the poke was drenched in sauce to the point that you could not taste the chips or fish. The plate itself is a really good size and there is plenty of poke but they overdo it on the sauce I couldn't even eat it. I ended up fishing the poke out and taking that home and leaving the chips and sauce behind. Squid luau, I've been craving this as I always do and this definitely fell short. Lacked in flavor and the flavor that was there is sweetness. Very little chunks of squid I think I had 4 total. Staff was nice and we were seated right away. The restaurant is a bit smaller but there was a pretty consistent flow of people going in and out. Probably would come back to try something different if I was in the area. read more

Very disappointed with the service during my recent visit to Kehau's Kitchen, which is unfortunate because I have been here many times before. Firstly, it was understaffed, with a full house and only one young lady working. We got seated and saw a QR code on the table to order but we decided not to order through the site given a hefty "convenience fee." I flagged down the lady working to order in which I pointed to everything I ordered, including the Pua'a to Da Poke Nachos. I asked for water as well and ended up having to go up to the counter to ask again after waiting a while. We received our order and it was wrong. I ordered the Pua'a to Da Poke Nachos and got Kamakaze Poke Nachos instead (which is about $3 more). I went up to the same young lady and asked if this was our order to which she offered a side of pork as a resolution which I agreed to. Everything tasted good and I will give them that. I went up to pay and there was an older lady working who I believe is Kehau. I specifically checked with her and asked her if I was only getting charged for the Pua'a to Da Poke Nachos because that is what I ordered and she said yes! To my dismay, when I checked the receipt I got charged for the Kamakaze Poke Nachos which is NOT what I ordered. I asked her very politely if she could fix this and she was incredibly resistant and pushy. In the end, the younger lady had to tell Kehau multiple times to just give me back the difference. She reached in her own purse and gave me $3. I felt bad and apologized for the inconvenience and hassle but got no response and some petty responses. The was not a problem with the money, it was a problem with the terrible customer service. I would like to pay for what I specifically ordered, not a mistake/miscommunication on the restaurant's end. Stopped here for dinner immediately after landing in Oahu. It's a humble "hole-in-the-wall" type of establishment. The woman who took our order was very nice. My friend and I split the surf and turf nachos (poke and pork) and they were absolutely delicious! One of my top 3 favorite meals i had the whole week I was in town. Excellent friendly personable service from our host that treats you like family, even for the first time! This restaurant is a true gem located in the middle of a the big Westridge mini-mall in Aiea just up the hill from Kamehameha Highway. Crowded parking lot out in front, but worth the drive over for sure! The menu is pretty varied, but we found their Kalua Pork to be an absolute standout with excellent outstanding smoke aroma and fall-apart silky smooth texture! The Kal-bi ribs were terrific too.. still moist after being flame broiled with their sweet savory marinade. The Lomi Salmon was great as the perfect contrast to the delicious meats and perfect moist Japanese rice. We can't wait to come back again here! read more

I was craving Hawaiian food so I decided on Kehaus Kitchen. A friend said it was a good place to eat so I didn't think anything bad would happen. The service was personable and friendly. The food that I ordered which was the smoked meat plate was delicious with a tasty potato salad. The bad part is that they forgot to add in the poi which we paid an extra $5.95 for and discovered when we got home when we opened the Kalua pig plate. If I have to open take out packages to check if it's right then I'll just go to Youngs Fish Market which does really good accurate orders.
