We were out and about and called my cousin to see if she and her husband were hungry for lunch. They said yes and suggested King Katsu Land. This was our first time but apparently, they love the quality of the food and the ridiculously large portions. The parking lot itself was an adventure to enter. Our GPS took us directly to the driveway but if we had been depending on a conventional map, there's no doubt that we would have driven past it a time or two as the restaurant cannot be seen from the entrance to the driveway. I was a bit worried as we walked to the front door as it was wide open. That usually means that the restaurant doesn't have working air conditioning. I hate being hot and sweaty when dining. We were seated upon entering. We told them that there were going to be four of us and it should have been quite obvious that the rest of our table hadn't arrived yet, but it seemed like they were on auto drive. Shortly after we sat, a water pitcher, glasses, some pickles and Miso Soup were presented for all four of us even though two seats were still empty. Fortunately, my cousin arrived before her Miso Soup had time to get cold. I ordered the King Katsu with Curry Sauce while my wife got the Cold Soba. My cousins husband ordered the Kid's Katsu, Corn Cheese and a Small Korean Style Boneless Fried Chicken. Their Kid's portion was quite large as he said that it would be. Mine was so large, I had enough for lunch and then breakfast and dinner the next day. I barely touched the Cheese Corn or the Fried Chicken. The food was very good overall and a very good value. Service was pretty good though it would have been nice if they had offered a refill on my soda.

I've gotten King Katsu Land two times now and the katsu is really delicious! The katsu is perfectly fried and they have a variety of katsu choices on the menu. I also enjoy the sides that are included: rice, mac salad, yellow radish, pickles, and shredded cabbage salad. All of these sides really help balance the meal. The King Katsu is a good default choice, it's their korean style wide and thin cut pork cutlet and comes with a tangy sauce. The tangy sauce isn't for everyone, but I enjoyed it. You can pick between spicy or regular for the sauce. I tried the spicy sauce and was surprised that it actually had quite the kick! I really enjoyed the Fish Katsu when I tried it the first time, so I had to order it for my second visit. The fish katsu batter was perfect and the tartar sauce was excellent as well. I wished there were a couple more pieces because I definitely wanted to eat more! My only gripe is that for my second visit, they actually forgot the fish katsu and we didn't find out until after opening the bag. Thankfully, we were still nearby, so we drove back to get the rest of the order. It would have really sucked if we didn't find out until many miles away.

So good!! Portions are huge and perfect for sharing. I went with my family (6 adults and 2 babies) and we enjoyed our meal. My favorites were the garlic KFC and the king tonkatsu cutlet. They had high chairs available for the babies, but at one point they were all being used and someone had to wait for ours. I like that they give sauces on the side so you can choose which to use! The sauces weren't amazing but I still enjoyed using them with the crispy katsu.

It's so well priced for the amount of food you get! The staff are also really nice here. I did a takeout order and it was made really quickly and packaged well. The store is located in a random plaza, however there is an abundance of parking.

My friend told me about their bomb katsu so decided to stop by for dinner on our way home. It was an interesting drive to get here but we made it. The place was packed on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. We added ourselves to the waitlist and waited about 10 minutes or so before we were seated. We ordered the King's Combo (pork katsu) and subbed rice with an extra mac salad. I wasn't a fan of the hamburger steak since the flavor was lacking, but the katsu was perfect. Crispy and well battered on the outside and tender on the inside. The curry that we used to dip the katsu in made it taste even better! So glad I stopped by and can't wait to come back again. I think next time I will just order just the King Katsu. I also want to try their chicken and cheese corn because I saw a lot of people ordering that. Service was fast and the servers were friendly.

We saw this spot while eating at the Filipino restaurant across the way. We should have done our research before coming because we each ordered our own plate and one plate is enough to feed 3-4 people honestly. Just add some extra sides of rice and salad and it would have been fine. We don't usually eat a lot of fried food at once so it was a bit overwhelming lol not going to sugar coat it. But I would love to come back to try other items for sure.

Came here for dinner to celebrate my Son's Birthday. Place was smaller than I thought. When we got there at 7:00 on a Tuesday the place was full, but only one name ahead of us on the list. We didn't have to wait very long. Portions are Huge. So great value for the money. I ordered the Pork Katsu with curry sauce. Everything was delicious.

Absolutely stellar katsu!! I ordered the King Katsu with regular spice, and there's not a single thing that I would change about it. The (super generous-sized) pork cutlet itself has this perfectly-crispy breaded crust all around this respectfully thick-ish slab of meat. Pro tip is to not immediately pour the curry over the cutlet so then it doesn't get soggy--instead, you can cut the meat in strips and dip into the curry goodness. The sides are also really yummy and I particularly loved the mac salad I always eat for value and this definitely hits the spot...$20 for a meal that sent me in a food coma is as good as it gets. Plus, service is top notch and our waitress was so sweet! This place definitely lived up to the hype and I'm so happy I found it

King Katsu Land, where the katsu is as big as your face. We came by on a friday and there was a slight wait, but not too bad. You get a big crispy katsu, rice, cabbage salad, and mac salad. Also, everyone gets free miso soup! The katsu was good, we got king w/curry and snowflake. It's pretty big and halfway through I started wanting something else, change of texture/flavor. In hindsight, I think we should've shared one katsu and tried something else from the menu. But overall good visit. One thing I'd point out is that when we came by, it was kind of busy and there was a line of people waiting for seats. These people stood crowded around near the entrance. I wouldve hated to sit there with people standing around/watching us. It'd be nice if they had people wait outside or rearranged those tables and moved them into the middle the restaurant.

KK is exactly what the name says, they serve king sized katsu. They're in a strip mall behind a car dealership, and if you're not from around this area, it's best to use GPS. There's a shared parking lot with other businesses. When I came on a Saturday evening, there were still plenty of parking because the other stores have closed already. This place gets busy and during meal hour, it's likely there will be a line. Tables are set up for parties of 2 or 4. Large parties may have to push ya les together. Menu is simple enough, and there are pictures which help a lot. Of course we ordered what they're known for, Katsu.. I got their King Katsu, a huge piece of perfectly fried and very crispy piece of pork. You have the option of getting their regular sauce spicy or for two bucks extra, the curry. I went with the spicy and there were almost no heat, but did add more flavor. Served with hot steamy rice and a salad. I couldn't finish the whole thing. My friend got the chicken cartoon and it was just as good. He opted it for the curry sauce, but said the house sauce is still better. They have a sign on the wall that if you want extra rice, just ask them and they'll gladly bring more out. The service is pretty friendly and efficient. The interior is brightly lit and the food is great. Next time I'm in town I'm definitely going back for more.

Found a hidden gem while in the area. The workers here are nice and friendly. The restroom is clean. This restaurant was a little confusing to get to but I found out you have to drive down the hill behind the Mercedes-Benz dealership. All the food I tried here are good. We ordered Fried Shrimp, Pork King Combo, Cheese Katsu, Udon, Cheese Corn, and Half and Half Fried Chicken. Katsu here was crispy, tender and flavorful. I love how they gave us bonchon. I love the radishes it goes good with the fried chicken. I love the butter garlic over the Yang-nyeon flavor on the fried chicken. Udon was good and flavorful but a bit salty. The fried shrimp came with cabbage with dressing and tartar sauce. I love how crispy the shrimp was. The cheese katsu was so delicious the mac salad, rice, and cabbage salad. The fried fish was also so delicious and very crispy.

This is a late review as I tried this place right around Christmas. My friends were visiting from out of state and they heard about this place from Instagram. We got here a little after 5 pm and got one of the last tables already. We ended up getting the fish katsu. Wow , was this portion huge ! It came with three pieces of fish, a side of rice, coleslaw and macaroni salad. I don't know how the made the tartar sauce but it was perfectly seasoned! The batter of the fish want to thick and you can tell they used new oil to fry it because it wasn't too dark. The server kept on checking in on us and we spoke to them for a while. They were all friendly and kept a smile on their face the whole time . As much as I try to avoid fried food, I'll come back for this.

Saw this posted on a foodie Facebook group and the photos of king size looking katsu made my eyes grow big like a kid in a candy store or picture me like Margaret Keene's painting of the big eyes of her children's paintings . When we arrived we put our name on the Waitlist on a Saturday evening and waited outside of restaurant which I think took about and hour and half. Lots of cars parked and people standing around it outside too. It's a small restaurant and lots of big groups of people which I think made the turning of the tables slow. I had a group of five. It was a bit chilly waiting outside. We were wondering if the wait would end up 2 hours and should we decide to eat elsewhere if we get too hungry? But we stuck it out and finally got seated . yah! I can see full house as every table full. We noticed later people come in big groups so I think that's why long waits. Restaurant not that long. We order boneless Korean Style chicken to share between the 5 of us and we ordered personally the Kings Combo to get a flavor of 1/2 Korean style wide thin cut pork cutlet, hamburger steak and katsu fish. They bought to our table a nice Bonchon appetizers to share. Restroom is clean. The back wall to the far left near restrooms, has the Legendary Challenger photo wall. I wanted to get a closer look at it, but there was a table there with people, so I couldn't get any closer. The food took a while, so have patience, the workers work hard and if you are by entrance, read the sign about their service so have patience and don't get mad. Great food needs time to prepare. Hard to feed so many mouths with hungry tummies. It once you get the food you will be pleased! I enjoyed my Kings Combo and all my items were yummy in my tummy. Everything was crispy and soft and tender. I enjoyed the katsu fish a lot. Hamburger steak was tender with egg on top. I love poking egg to have the hello yolk of goodness ooze out in a delicate, soft, gentle, waterfall over the hamburger steak oval patty. But either way yummy in my tummy was my point of being here. lol Everyone enjoyed their meal and we left happy folks! So yes I recommend this place and I plan to come back again to try their other dishes.

    King'S Combo and then some!

It's my first time having sweet water noodles. I have never visited Cheng Du in China (it's on my bucket list) so I cannot tell how authentic this really is. As a noodle dish, I really love it. I would buy the sauce itself and toss with any other noodles. (Business opportunity there!) The instruction to cook the noodles is super clear and it's a very simple and easy dish to make. If you can boil water in a pot, you can make the noodles based on the instruction with this noodles kit. The rice crispy gave an excellent crunch. (Now I can see why Paik Jong Won added the uncooked instant noodles crumbs from the package to a bowl of instant noodles). The noodles texture is lovely, it has a chewy (or the Taiwanese/Chinese known as "QQ") bite to it. The portion is quite generous too - it's one of those satisfying portions :) I don't think I want to wait for 2 years for this again. But when he opens the store or start selling the sauce, I will be there for sure!!

Upon entering, I noticed that it is a sister restaurant to the Lazhou Noodles but before we could change our minds, the hostess sat us (lol). I went with the main beef noodle soup, and we also tried the dry noodles with spicy beef. I was expecting the food to be very similar to their sister restaurant - BUT the food here was so much better I was SO surprised. The broth tasted better, the noodles were higher quality, and the beef was also much more tender and had less gristle. it made me wonder if it was a fluke or if this location was just that much better as this restaurant was also much more crowded versus the other locations. I can't wait to come back and bring friends, and though San Mateo is parking is not as friendly, the food experience definitely makes up for it!

Asked a server how big one bowl of noodles were and she made a small circle with her hands. When our order came out it was much bigger than what they described. If you're looking to share a bowl, one bowl is enough for two people. We got their No. 1 hand-pulled noodles with wide egg noodles and spicy heat level as well as their popcorn chicken with spice. First taste is always the broth and it was good but not the best I ever had. It was lacking more depth of flavor in the broth. There was only one spice level and while it was mild for me, could be a little spicy for others but nothing to worry about. The dry spice from the popcorn chicken definitely hits if you inhale it so be careful and it did make me break out into a mild sweat but it was ok.

No water, just pure concentrated flavor. The restaurant gets its name from simmering, one of the essential Chinese cooking techniques, and you can taste that philosophy across the whole menu. The Dry Pot lived up to the hype, but the real surprise was the skewers. Beef, lamb, and chicken, intensely flavorful and rich. I can't stop thinking about them. The potstickers were also way better than expected. Usually a throwaway order at most places, but here they were juicy and packed with flavor. The beef pancakes were fantastic. Golden and crispy on the outside, juicy flavor bomb on thes inside. Both crunchy and a little chewy (in the good way). Came back a few weeks later with friends and ordered the whole grilled fish, which I'd been eyeing since my first visit. It looked magnificent, but it didn't really pop the way the other dishes did. If you love fish it's worth trying, but the dry pot, skewers, beef pancakes, and dumplings are the stars here. We also got a few veggie dishes which were all great accompaniments...but nobody is here for the veggies. A few practical notes. They have a beer tap but it doesn't work, so if you're into beer, they've got a few options by the bottle. Parking is easy since it's in the Serramonte Center, and you can combine it with a trip to Jagalchi, Target, or whatever else you need. Both times I came there was plenty of seating. I'll be back soon, and next time I'm getting the dry pot with their handmade noodles.
