Nice little spot offering great bbq in the sunset! We came here after visiting GGP and sat at one of the little tables outside with our dog. Order ahead if you can to save wait time! I loooved the brisket smashburger; it was flavorful and not too smoky while still having nice crisp texture. Would definitely return for it!

Heard about this place and been wanting try their bbq. Between 2 people we ordered their Mac & Cheese, Smoked Brisket, OG Brisky Bao, and Korean Cowboy Bao. My favorite was their OG Brisky Bao, I enjoyed the brisket and the bbq sauce in the Bao. The Mac & Cheese was pretty standard and paired well with the smoked brisket. Their smoked brisket was good, but thought it could be more tender, it was a bit dry. Service was pretty fast. There's a few seats inside and outdoors to dine-in. I'm glad I tried this place out since there's not a lot of options for bbq in the area.

1 s-Mac-n-Cheese $8.00 1 Pork Spareribs - Qtr Rack$15.00 The pork spareribs were salty for me. The Mac and cheese was lumpy and bland. I think if it had more flavor, I wouldn't mind its texture. What worked: I ordered the food for pick up. The wait time was reasonable. The restaurant had a few seats for dine in. I love the vibe and ambiance in there. The staff seem nice and chill. I hear good things about them. I want to try their other food options. They ran out with some of them. I did order later in the day. Parking in that area can be tough. Be patient. Be okay with walking long distances. I still recommend to check them. They were featured in "Check, Please! Bay Area."

Stopped in to try the baos. Unfortunately they only had the OG so tried that. There was a bit of a line and slightly slow but not terrible. Not much space inside to eat but had a few small tables outside. The baos were good sized and meat was delish. It was flavorful and tender. Hope to try more again someday

A place in the crowded Irving Street with BBQ that somewhat looks out of place but I saw pictures of their meat and I had to try it. I came on a weekend, midday and it's mostly a place that you order up front and take to go. Took about 20 minutes to order and get all my food. FOOD: Brisket. A good smoke and a nice crust, but for me, the meat was a bit too dry. Bbq sauce was decent, but not amazing. But overall, a decent brisket, but I would probably skip next time. Comes with a side of pickles that are pretty damn good. Hot link. Honestly, nothing special either. Also a good smoke, but nothing incredibly special either. Dino bone. THIS, this is it. This has all the flavor, with for smoke and a hugely flavorful crust WITH THE ADDITION OF BEING A HUGELY JUICY FATTY PIECE OF MEAT. Possibly just the quality of meat here, but this is so good. Highly recommended. Mac and cheese. Heavy, but also lacking. Likely needs hot sauce to even be desirable, but maybe this was a bad day for they mac and cheese. Brisket bao. One of the big reasons I came, but was honestly a bit disappointed. Too sweet of a sauce that over powered everything else. Brisket was fine, but could barely taste it. The bao was also decent but nothing special. I still think this has a lot of potential and it's possible this version was just a bad day, so maybe I'll try again. Overall, generally on par with standard bay area bbq, maybe a bit higher. The beef rib is excellent and would be my go to place in the city for this. I'd call this a high risk, high reward place. I'll try it again at some point.

I got the 1/4 lb brisket and my friend got the brisket sandwich . I have to see this was a dreamy sized portion and the fat trim was neat and the mostly meaty brisket was exceptional in meat quality . Quite extraordinary . Closer to Golden Gate Park , quick courteous service and out door seating make this place a go to for bbq in SF. The street is off has a great vibe and seems to offer allot of good .

Ordered: Brisket sandwich $19 Mac n cheese $8 They don't mention the bbq stuff are only offered on Fri-Sun or maybe I missed seeing it. I came in the afternoon and most of the items on the menu were sold out. I ordered the brisket sandwich and a side of Mac n cheese. The wait for the food wasn't too bad. The first thing I noticed was I didn't smell any bbq at all and the cashier who was very nice, had her long hair down (not tied up). She was handling the food as she was grabbing them to pack up for customers. I didn't see her wash her hands. When I picked up the brisket sandwich to take a bite, a strand of hair was on the outside wrapper. Not sure if it was mine or the cashier's. I ate the sandwich once I received it and it was cold. The bun was dry and the brisket was tender but didn't have any taste, smokiness, or fat. The bbq sauce helped a little. One look at the Mac n cheese and I could tell it was a few days old. It was piping hot and you know it was reheated. It was super dry, bland, and I couldn't taste any cheese. I could taste the black pepper though. My husband said it tasted like the cheese went bad. I might come back to try their bbq things.

Was excited to try this out when I heard about it. It seems a bit difficult finding BBQ places around SF, and I'm glad they opened on Irving! I wanted to try the brisket bao, but they sold out. You order on the tablet and they work on it pretty quickly. Workers seem nice! Brisket sandwich - 4.5/5, packed with tender and flavorful meat. Great BBQ sauce and soft buns! Mac and Cheese looked super solid, I think the brisket and sauce really help elevate it

Finally tried Smokin D's BBQ in the Sunset. Great to have some Texas BBQ y'all! Everything was delicious and I really like their S'mac & Cheese and the Brisket Sammich. Interesting take on the Brisky Bao, not our favorite on our recent visit, maybe an off batch? It was a tad too lean and dry. Do like the other items. Looking forward to trying more in our next visits. Only thing better would be a portal to Texas without us having to trek there. Ambiance and service are friendly take out spot with just a few stools to sit near the window to eat. We also got a cute sticker: Located on Irving and 23rd Ave.

If I could order anything off the menu, I'd go for the Dino ribs but HANG ON -- does that say $39/lb???!!! Scratch that, let's try a bao instead -- $10 each omg, still really expensive for a bao... I mean that bun better be JAM PACKED. The Korean Cowboy bao was sold out by 2pm today so I went with the OG -- I love brisket but I couldn't really taste what's so special about this brisket, especially at this price point. Just looking at the menu, 6 buns would cost $54! Ambiance is also a little too loud and overstimulating for me. It's a small space so all the sounds are amplified. I only had one bun so I got it to go but if I got ribs here, I'd like to eat them immediately and I dunno that I can eat here being that it was so loud. Not sure if Smoking D's will have enough staying power to be on Irving

    Pulled Pork Sandwich ($18.08)

Date: Sunday, March 30th, 2025 Party of: 2 Meal: Lunch Delivery Ordered: via DoorDash Time Ordered: around 3pm Times Delivered: first part around 3:20pm, second part around 3:40pm Delivered to: Outer Richmond *Signature Overnight Smoked Brisket -1/2 lb ($22.60) *Pork Spareribs - Half Rack ($31.64) *Smoked Jumbo Chicken Leg Qtr ($11.30) *Pulled Pork Sandwich ($18.08) It was time for lunch and the hubby picked bbq. Found Smokin' D's on DoorDash. Our order arrived quickly since we're right across the park. Tho our delivery was missing everything except the sandwich. And in the container that was supposed to have the rest, came with a beef rib. We were a little perplexed. Didn't even know they offered beef ribs. Luckily we contacted DD and it was resolved right away. The chicken and the spareribs were tasty. Both had a good amount of fat, keeping the meat moist. The brisket was too lean for me. I found it very dry. The beef rib was chewy, but flavorful. It was free, so not really entitled to complaints. I didn't try the pulled pork, but the hubs seemed to enjoy the sando. It was a lil cold due to the wait for the rest of the food. I found the bbq sauce okay. A lil too sweet for my palate. Added a bunch of hot sauces I had at home for some spice. SF doesn't have a lot of decent bbq spots, so glad we found this one. A pretty good option when the craving hits. And close to home. REVIEW #3749

Mrs. D's Cornbread, S'Mac & Cheese and Pork Spareribs - Half Rack and Brisket Smashburger
    Kerasa T.

It's a solid place for meat. Out of everything we got, this is how I'd rank them from best to worst: Pork Spare Ribs, Brisket Smashburger, Cornbread and then the Mac and Cheese. Pork Spare Ribs have a smokey taste to them and a lot of meat. The Brisket Smashburger was the only brisket item available (June 19th at 11am) and it was good. BBQ sauce came on the side and it was definitely needed. The tatertots that came with the burger were meh. The cornbread at first confused me because of the corn and jalapenos in them but it grows on you. I was surprised with how big it was! The mac and cheese was sadly not a hit--I wouldn't get it again. All in all, a solid place for BBQ. San Francisco is notorious for not having good BBQ so I'm glad to have found a place that offers a variety of items. I ordered over the phone and the person taking the order was so sweet and helped me find an alternative to the brisket I wanted which was out of stock. Pickup was smooth and everyone was super nice. I'd definitely come back.

I see meals in the pictures (meat, bread, mac). But the menu is just by the lbs meat ($40/lbs). How can a single hungry dude grab lunch without spending $60 for meat and mac?

You can buy a 1/4 or 1/2 lb

How's the parking situation? Is it street parking, private parking lot or if there's a garage nearby?

Street parking with meters unless you park a little farther away.

Wondering what smoker they are using and is it true post oak? Will there be other offerings like Chuck burnt ends, smoked duck, pork belly?

Was this guy ever at the pop up on third Street in SF in the Bayview district?

Their lettuce is shredded but fresh and crispy. The salt content is just enough to bring out the flavors. And the overall composition of their sandwiches are very well proportioned.
