After testing positive for the flu, I decided to cancel the appointment to avoid exposing the staff and patrons. Despite this, I was charged 50% of the service fee. While I understand the rationale behind their policy, I have been a loyal customer for twenty years and have never encountered an issue like this before. Therefore, I requested if they would waive the fee this one time. Unfortunately, I was informed that they could not accommodate my request due to the timing of the cancellation. It is disheartening to realize that the establishment would prefer I come in while contagious rather than make an exception in light of my circumstances. Customer service, in my opinion, includes the ability to consider individual situations and make reasonable accommodations when necessary. Given my longstanding loyalty to the business and my history of adherence to their policies, it is disappointing that they would choose to prioritize strict enforcement over customer care. I come here for my haircuts and they have various slots to choose from. I always go to Zachary and let me tell you he is the best! My hair is sometimes hard to style but he does it very nicely. Super friendly and makes you feel comfortable. I highly recommend him for your haircuts and blowouts. It is also pretty affordable for the service you are getting. I came to Keldara after a recommendation from a friend, and wow was she right! Keldara is awesome, I will definitely be coming back. I had a wash, cut, and dry with Meredith. She was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted, gave some advice, and told me her plan before we started the cut. She was friendly (we both ride horses so we had plenty to talk about!) and knowledgeable about hair, and even gave me some advice about styling my bangs since I have never had them before. I LOVE my new look! My cut with a mid level stylist was $60 which I thought was sooo reasonable for the Boston area. I was happy to tip generously! So I've been coming here ever since I got out of the Air Force back in 2020 and should have written a review a long time ago haha. I've been seeing Andi for my (lashes, brows, and facials) who always does such an EXCELLENT job and has me feeling and looking good when I walk out. Whenever I'm going on vacay my first thought is always "gotta stop by and see Andi and have her get me looking right." She also very personable and easy to talk to about any of the concerns you may have and is super knowledgeable about skin care issues. I've also been seeing Damien for my massages throughout my time at Keldara and when I say he is a miracle worker he legit is. I've had multiple problems throughout the years that the VA couldn't seem to figure out how to fix (not kidding) I went in to see Damien, told him, and I'm not joking he fixed the issues. The first time was a foot problem right before I ran the Boston Marathon...he massaged it whatever way and the issue was gone....meanwhile the VA was like welp just give it some time. The second issue was scary.... I legit had the worst case of Sciatica on the left side of my lower back....i couldn't walk I couldn't sit...legit couldn't do anything without severe pain. It was like this for a month before spoke with the VA who told me to ice it.....I went into see Damien and me stretched me out and it was gone in 2 days no bullshit. Cindy, a senior stylist, did me so dirty... It was one of those haircut where you get home and sob. I showed a picture and I as clear about what I was looking for. She decided that that wasn't what I was looking for. I asked a few times for her to fixed it and she attempted to, without putting the cape back on (leaving hair all over me). She brought over other stylists to talk about me in front of me, not to me, and to say that what she did looked good and that what I want wouldn't look good. I called the manager and the manager was not very helpful. Eventually I got my refund. WOOF! Avoid this place. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this salon. I made an appointment to get my roots touched up, a cut, and an all over color glaze with the option of adding some more balayage highlights in. I drove 40 minutes to get here I explained my last 2 hair appointments and the process that it took to get to where my hair is now and provided multiple inspiration photos. I was initially told by the stylist "we can't achieve that, I don't have that color." The manager then came over, I asked to come up with a solution (since one was never offered) such as getting the color and rescheduling? She then told me "the experience and feedback from stylist is this color from our color line doesn't take well. So not sure which it was.. they didn't have the color or the color from the color line they carry doesn't turn out well. Here's an idea.. get a new color line!? None the less, zero attempt at a solution, no I'm sorry you are disappointed and we can't do this today, nothing. It was the moment it seemed like the stylist and manager couldn't have cared less about how frustrating this was that I got up and walked out as the manager was still talking out the side of her mouth. No professional salon should turn a client's appointment down because they don't have the color or their color line is trash. This is a large salon, it's actually shocking they aren't capable of providing color service that isn't really that in depth or challenging. Not sure how this salon remains open with the lack of professionalism, lack of supplies and lack of a decent color line. I have an interesting story here. I was injured and walking with a cane. I'm in my mid 30s and needed to make sure the stylist understood that any quick movement or turn with the chair pump or during the haircut could cause me discomfort and even pain. The stylist refused to do my hair. I was literally turned away from service for being temporarily handicapped ---illegal much Keldara?? when I didn't take this answer "sitting down" no pun intended I was met with one of the owners--I had to remind her that refusing me service on account of my injury was grounds for a lawsuit! Fast forward to Christmas I was the recipient of a 100$Keldara gift card--a place I swore never to return to--I decided to go with the only senior stylist they had available and it was the same woman-- As I walked in with a friend, she saw me, made the connection, and immediately the poor service started. She had me wait about 5 minutes as she finished her irrelevant conversation at the front with the secretary. She then comes out from behind the desk and walks past me, no communication or even a greeting. I suppose she expired me to just follow but I recall having been offered water or tea, and greeted with a simple "hello how are you today? Im your stylist please follow me to my chair"...?? No...she just looked at me walked to the sinks. Immediately I regretted coming but I had a New Years Eve plan and this was my only option before getting on a bus to travel. I have long hair to my Lower back--it is thick curly Mediterranean hair. My hair requires a lot of product to wash and to style. At the sink, she washed my hair once. Didn't even use conditioner. She finished in less than 5 minutes. I kid you not--she finished and walked away without saying a word again. I remained sitting thinking ok she will return and now do the conditioner---a few minutes pass she returns and tells me "are you coming?" Wow I'm thinking she didn't even tell me she was done?! I ask her if she's going to cidition my hair she says she did already. I touch my hair and tel her it feels rubbery and nothing like how it feels after I condition it with my (extremely expensive olaplex and pureology) conditioner. She says "I already did that" and turns to walk to indicate this conversation is over. If she did condition she used the smallest possible amount my hair felt Rubbery and yet despite my request she refused to wash the hair with more conditioner. To the haircut--- I'll just post the picture. This is a senior stylist. Her name is Cindy id recommend that you steer clear. Not only is she extremely sensitive to a client who knows what they want she's deceptive and intentionally gave me a shitty haircut--the cut took all of 10 minutes and I have layers and curtain bangs -- she spent no time my sons hair cut at the barber takes over an hour this woman took my 90 and $30 tip and didn't blink an eye. She's dishonest and will hold a grudge. My hair tangles w wet day because she cut short layers under my long ones in the back of my neck ....shes a wreckless butcher read more

I've gone here since they opened, and I guess they've forgotten the people who helped them grow. Rather than pick up the phone to resolve a simple administrative issue like a credit card expiration, they prefer to fire off nastygrams and demand a 1-day turnaround on a response when their online systems barely even work to support their own requests. Then they cancel appointments and still don't pick up the phone when they don't get what they want out of their tantrum. I had always been such a supporter, even when I heard mixed reviews from others, but unless you'd like to be treated like a criminal by a day spa for no reason, I suggest you go elsewhere for services. Zero accountability on customer service for an incredibly long-standing and good customer who has spent a lot of money here and tipped their people well. read more

I have been going to Mari for massage and stretching for 1 year after a total hip replacement. I had severe decreased mobility of the hip. After her amazing treatments, I have regained 100% of my mobility which can only be attributed to her care. Not only is she very knowledgeable about how bones and muscle work, but she uses her hands on skills to determine a clients issues and needs. I strongly recommend Mari for massage therapy for relaxation, joint issues or muscle aches and pains! She is also a kind, caring and wonderful person! Nice day spa in the area- when you can't get downtown, this is a good option. My massage therapist was professional and talented, the locker room and internal waiting room were both clean and relaxing, and I wouldn't hesitate to book again. Would love if there were additional amenities here to enjoy in between treatments ('salt relaxation room', hot tub, sauna, or even just a few loungers instead of straight-backed chairs in the existing waiting room to help ease your way back into reality), but overall a nice and well-kept space. The one downside was the initial welcome experience: there was only one person manning the front desk, who was clearly overtaxed and gave a quick hello and asked if I could see myself over to the spa area. Except I didn't know where that was since this was my first time here- so this person had to stop what they were doing and hurriedly take me over/give me a perfunctory tour. A bit of a jarring start to an otherwise peaceful and relaxing experience, and maybe more staff would have smoothed this part over (but knowing Covid can easily mess with even a well-planned schedule!). read more

As soon as you walk into the spa section you are in a super relaxing environment soft music great scent in the air. And Carol was just wonderful she took her time. I have special hair (that's how I refer to it), it pulls alot of red and orange and I have a full head of it. From my very first appointment over 3 years ago my color has been consistent. This was a first in alll of my adult years. Now I bring my 14 year old who has been a client of shelby's for 2 years. My daughter tells all of her friends to see shelby at keldara because she always leaves feeling great. Also taking hundreds of selfies ;) When you find a stylist who knows you, your hair type and what you like, it's rare. We are always happy and shelby's very patient and talented. I have been a client at the salon and spa for 15 years, and have never complained once until a recent hair issue. I absolutely love Dora and Angelina and my issue isn't with them. It's with the management. Because I didn't file my complaint within the 7 day time frame, I was totally dismissed by management. (Who by the way said they called me "numerous times" and emailed me to discuss my concern, but I have no record of either. I have checked all my missed calls, spam and trash). When I spoke with the manager, she basically made it seem like it was all on me, even though the stylist that I saw that day did my color a different way than my usual stylist and I was just trusting her process. I didn't realize applying dry vs. wet was a thing and the way the color was applied didn't cover my grays, which is what I asked the stylist to do. I wasn't looking for a full refund, but an apology and maybe a partial discount would have made me feel better about having to spend hundreds of dollars over 6 weeks to correct my color. When I asked if they could make an exception, I was immediately shut down because I waited too long, even though I mentioned I have never complained ever and I was confused about the color process they used. What happened to the customer coming first? I'll be looking for a new salon. read more
