From Jim Cook, Wed. March 18th, A.D. 2020 I posted a five star review last year. Since then I have come in several times with issues on other cars I have. Not the original car !! I buy older cars and fix what needs repairing and save a lot over a new car. My latest purchase was a 2006 Toyota Avalon with 160,000 miles on the engine. It ran fine. Mr. Hatter showed me a rag stuck under the engine to absorb all of the oil that was leaking unbeknownst to me. The buy from whom I bought the car royally screwed me. I should have brought the car to Elias for a check up. Mr. Hatter replaced the seals and gaskets that were worn and leaking like a sieve. He basically rebuilt the car from the ground up. The price was in line with other garages. It took only a few days. No complaints. Car runs like new and I expect it to last forever. In the year 2070 it will probable be in a classic car show. Ha. Thanks to Mr. Elias Hatter and his trusty front office manager Sherry. For the disgruntled customers. Mechanical things are bound to break. By the way. To any BMW owners, have you read the reviews of your over rated cars on Consumer Reports? Beemers are pieces of junk. I drove a 2020 model as a loaner for a family member. It was designed by a moron. I had a smog test done on my truck and it didn't pass because the evap system hadn't reset from the tune up I gave it. I drove the truck several miles to reset the computer and brought it back to have it retested. I was shocked when the rude lady across the counter charged me again. The huge sign in their shop say free re-test. Apparently there is small verbiage somewhere that states if you have work done by them. I would have been fine with this if it was clear. I would not recommend this place for smog checks. Very disappointed!!! read more

Complete scam artist! Be careful when going to this place. They diagnosed my car with issues that did not exist and wanted $500 to repair it. I've never been there and was walked over by a gal at Jiffy Lube who was also part of the scam. Only was there because my normal shop was busy and I just needed a quick basic inspection. Being wary of this whole situation, I followed up with my shop this morning. Boy was I right to be suspicious. Multiple mechanics looked at it and there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. Jiffy Lube and Kellem's are in a scam together. The issue they claimed to have with my car and that Jiffy Lube would not pass was nothing even on the inspection sheet to have checked. It was all very odd to begin with. Just be cautious of who you trust. read more

My brother took his truck there and they have the $60 estimate thing. Well they found out that the truck was damaged more than it was worth. So my brother asked them if they knew anyone who would buy it from him as is and they found a buyer. Plus they waived the $60 fee! I have never been to a place like that where not only do they waive the fee but they helped him find a buyer as well! Wow! Outstanding! I took my car in for a smog check and just like most was very leery while they performed the test. Being a woman and in the industry, you kinda wonder who's NOT up to something. As the tech circled around my vehicle I became even more suspicious as to why he'd be checking in the wheel wells. I mean, what do the tires have to do with a smog check right?! Anyhow, the smog check was done while I waited and it took but maybe 20 minutes. When the tech Mark came up to the front office, he advised me that there was a bulge in my left front tire and that I should be careful. I knew the tread was low but didn't know about the bulge. He didn't try to sell me anything, but was just letting me know. I thought that was kinda cool. Oh and by the way, my car passed and I thought the $48 charge was pretty dang reasonable. My co-workers and I started taking our cars here once Sears Automotive closed down. As a woman finding a trustworthy mechanic can sometimes be a job in itself. Although I haven't needed them for any major repairs, but for regular maintenance and smaller issues they have been great. Their prices are very reasonable and I have gone in a couple of times thinking my issue was bigger or more urgent than it actually was and instead of taking advantage of my lack of knowledge the owner would let me know my issues were fairly small, or I could wait to have them fixed. I have literally gone in there anticipating having to spend a few hundred bucks, and came out spending less than $100.00 and they won't try to keep your car forever either. read more

Dealing with this owner/manager was one of the WORST experiences we've ever had. We took our RV there for a smog check and it passed the emissions test with flying colors. However, on the visual inspection, the integrity of the gas cap was questioned, as well as an air cleaner. We were charged $60.97 (which included a 10% military discount, as my husband is a Vietnam Vet), and told to bring it back when the two items in question were replaced, and we would be given a 20% discount. My husband asked what we would be charged FOR, as all that was required was a look at the gas cap and the air cleaner ... it had already passed the emissions test! We were again told that we get a 20% discount, and we're sent in our way. Regular price should have been $67.75, for an RV, so to bring it back was still gonna cost us $54 ... but again, just for him to see that the filter & gas cap had been replaced! My husband returned yesterday to complete this inspection and was told that they NEVER give a 20% discount, so would have NEVER told him that. These were the same two people he spoke with 8 days ago. Needless to say, rather than give them another cent, my husband told them he would take his business elsewhere ... and he did. I was furious. First of all, the lack of ethics in charging ANYONE again, for something he had already paid for ... and JUST FOR A VISUAL INSPECTION??? That just demonstrates a lack of integrity, respect, and morals. Secondly, I wonder how many others he's done this to, and just gets away with it? We will continue to be their WORST commercial. We will never take our business there again, and I hope you'll think twice about it too! The place he ended up taking it to, charged a bare minimum, and only cuz they had to actually scope it. They told my hubby that most places would have charged him HALF the price the first time, and the remainder when he returned. Shameful ... just shameful. read more

Sherry at the front desk took care of me just as if he was never even away. She called around to get me the best price on parts, even though she was busy, and saved me at least $200. It's so nice to have an automotive shop where you can trust the employees not to rip you off. Been going here for about 7 years now and have loved every experience. I don't know about the the other yelper's brake pads but the last few times I've gone for routine oil changes, i always ask about mine because I haven't had them changed in about 4 years. When i ask they say "Brake pads are still good. Maybe next time." Saves me money because I've been to shady shops who would have changed them just to get some money out of me. HONEST MY ASS. Taking me for a ride. As soon as I walk up to the counter, it was made clear that a NEW catalytic converter had just been installed. Kellem's tesed it, it passed the emissions test, but they failed the visual because they couldn't see the #s on the top of the newly installed catalytic converter. The mechanic want to charge $30 just to remove 4 screws to view the top. Then charge for another complete test. It was going to add up to about $100. They put notes on the receipt about this. They knew damn well what they were doing the moment I stated "New, direct fit CAT just installed". I took the car next door to STAR Smog PRos http://www.yelp.com/biz/star-smog-pros-auto-repair-redlands and the mechanic there couldn't believe it. I called around and got the same response from smog techs, Star passed the car in about 20 min. You want honesty, try somewhere else besides Kellem's. They're takers, not givers. read more
