And the good news is that George is totally focused on management and customer relations and supervision of his technicians, and he doesn't do any of the actual repair work himself, so he doesn't have that grumpy, overworked, and irritated attitude that you will find in so many service stations. He is super friendly and super positive and goes out of his way to help. I was struggling so hard trying to get my car smogged, and George actually took time out of his busy schedule to encourage me and advise me on that, and he even volunteered to scan my car's system periodically to assess my progress in getting my vehicle's monitors to clear. Wow. So unbelievably nice! I actually think that it was his positive attitude and his encouragement that kept me going and kept me from feeling totally defeated. And it was that infectious positive spirit which enabled me to finally succeed in passing the smog test. His guys have also voluntarily filled my tires whenever they have gotten low. They will go the extra mile for you, which is refreshing and super impressive for such a small neighborhood shop! I told George over the phone what the problem was and he was able to diagnose it over the phone. This is after my car sat there for 10 months due to me believing it wasn't fixable. George got my car back on the road in 3 days. Ever since that happened we've been coming here. They will fix your car without it being too pricey. Well it first started with a miss diagnosis (Johnny) on a grey '01 Mercedes supposedly it needed…read morewheel bearings,inner tie rods, Control arms rebuilt when I got the car back it was in worse condition they had put the control arm bolts backwards and didn't fasten the baffles on the power steering.$900 and the car ended up chewing up the front tires in a matter of a couple of months (I had to sell the car because it was to dangerous for my son to drive).You think I would have learned But I know JC and he used to do good work..fast forward to recently I took my sons CRV for an oil leak repair ($1900) I ended up getting it back oil leak was fixed but noticed that a loud ticking was coming from the engine where it was worked on needless to say JC came up with all kind of excuses that it was normal (this is coming from a self proclaimed master mechanic) the car runs OK but the noise which wasn't there before the repair is getting worse.. He knows exactly what he's talking about, and he's friendlier and more helpful too than his major competitors at G&G are. Smog Stop has a much more professional vibe and a much nicer waiting room too than G&G does. They have plenty of chairs and even a TV, and it's much neater and roomier than G&G's waiting room, so do yourself a favor and make Smog Spot your go-to spot in Redlands for smogging your vehicle. My car didn't pass the first time, but Raken kept reassuring me that there were no visible trouble codes which would indicate a problem or a mechanical failure. He advised me to just keep driving the vehicle and promised that it would eventually pass, which it did. I was doubtful, but he was totally right all along. I finally figured out that the key to passing for me was to get my car up to 70 mph and then immediately decelerate to 20, which of course you can't do on the freeway, but driving the back way into Highland over and over again finally got the job done. I must've gone back to Smog Stop at least five or six times to have Raken rescan my car's computer monitors to see if all my monitors had cleared, but he never complained, although I'm sure he got pretty sick of seeing me coming back so often for a rescan to assess my progress! It took me three weeks to get my car's monitors to finally clear, but Raken was really unbelievably patient with me. I just wish that I had asked him to scan my system prior to testing my vehicle the first time, because I had to pay $50 for the first failed test and then I had to pay an additional $50 because he had to test my car a second time too after all of my car's system monitors had finally cleared, but he did give me a $12 discount on the retest. They also do other types of repair work at this shop, including smog repairs, but Raken was always too busy and too focused to specify exactly what other types of mechanical jobs they can tackle, although I did ask him twice. The good news is that they do seem to be totally focused on smog checks and not on finding additional mechanical issues that they can potentially charge you for. Just be aware that you will have to pay $38 for a second test if your car doesn't pass the first time. The only good thing I can say about Smog Stop's competitor G&G is that they don't charge you for a second test if your car fails the first time. So if you have recently replaced or recharged your battery, as I did, and if you're not entirely certain about the readiness level of your car's system monitors, please be sure to ask Raken to check your system for readiness BEFORE you pay $50 for a test that will in all likelihood fail.

But the last time I was there - they went above and beyond with it!! I went in for my regular oil change, and the previous visit I was told I should consider changing my filters (cabin, etc.). So I informed them during this visit that I was ready to have them changed. But when my car was ready for pickup, they informed me that in a matter of fact.. I didn't need them right now.. AND THEY DIDN'T DO THEM AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME. I feel like another shop would just do it and take your money! Not these guys!! That is PURE genuine service to me!! I introduce to you Redlands Auto Service, a shop that, from what I can see, truly cares about the community they work with. My daughter's Nissan Leaf developed an AC leak due to a ruptured pressure line and questionable engineering choices regarding how you can replace that line. A single bad component turned into several needing replacement that the dealership quoted nearly half what the car is worth just in parts. My daughter and I did the work and when it came time to recharge everything, Carlos was there. His quote was less than half than the dealership's and when we brought it in, he even replaced a bad valve that we missed during our work. His shop is worth your business.

Find a trust worthy Mechanic…read more This is going to be long so I hope your in for it I know for a fact they regularly place "mechanic's lien" on many vehicles and sell them off for profit. (They steal cars form people by charging more than owner can afford, they then sell those cars for profit) The name of this place should be called "Dewy , Cheatum, and How" I was blindsided how friendly and service oriented they seemed to be... However , my issue was not diagnosed correctly initially and once it was taken in for repairs the issue was never addressed correctly. 9 months from the initial time I left this Truck with Salerno's and I still have a misfire in Cylinder 6 The whole ordeal started 10/28/2024, when I decided to trust Salerno's with the head gasket repair... I know this a labor intensive job so I waited patiently, the head gasket job too two months to complete . Immediately after taking possession of my vehicle I got a check engine light ( I was not comfortable going back to Salerno's ) so I got a second opinion from the car Dr of Loma Linda . The car Drs told me that Salernos had installed the wrong coil packs and did not replace a broken coolant Temp sensor. I went back to Salerno's with the quote from the Car Dr. and dropped my vehicle off again to be repaired properly the next day 1/5/2025 I got my vehicle back again another two months later and was charged $819.24 for the mistakes they make . Fool me twice maybe but not a third time , at this point I refuse to ever trust Salerno's When I went to pick up my truck the second time it had multiple new scratches scrapes and dings all over the body and around the hood where tool were dropped in it (I pointed it out to the denial of owner Mark). He also assured me the second 1/2 of the coil pack was correct even though there is no firing order noted on it . This business changed me over $6,500 , and clearly they are not a quality shop. There lack of knowledge and ability should be a concern to everyone looking for anything more then an oil change.
