We have been going to this Kelly's for so many years. And we have given them at least 7 more try's after several mistakes in their part. We get disappointed but keep hoping for the best. But every single time, every single meal, at different times of day. The meals are very salty! For example the grilled fish, mashed potatoes, green beans, and gravy. The gravy has been literally water at times. The steak has been over cooked when we tell them medium rare but more rare. This place was our go to at least once a week or every other week for over 20 years. But the food has lost its quality and taste. Not to mention some of the employees have gotten very rude. With the exception of some few who still take pride in their work and their good manners. Maybe one day we can go back to the Kelly's that had great food and excellent s

What a great spot for breakfast!! Portions are huge!!! Really every plate is shareable. The pancakes were solid as was the chicken on the biscuit. The biscuit was super crumbly and the hash browns had zero flavor. Excellent service and the chicken fried chicken going to pretty much every other table looked amazing and worth a second visit for sure

There was so much food to choose from and service was amazing !! They have big portions so come with an empty stomach and be ready to take home food !!

First time. Wonderful local feel! Great place. Really enjoyed the lunch experience. Very family and homey. Our waiter, Jay, was personable and super friendly. He took his time with us. He answered all our questions and checked on us continuously but wasn't intrusive. So many choices on the menu. I ordered the chicken salad. It was great and huge! Not too much mayonnaise! Just right combination-you could actually taste the chicken! It was so big I took over half home with me. And Jay even got us iced teas to go when we left. I will be returning. Love the "Mom and Pop" vibe and the diverse menu.

Great breakfast. Stopped in to get a quick bit and Josh took my order. Josh was super efficient and my veggie omelette came out in less than 5 min. Veggie omelette was awesome with just the right amount of jalapeño to give it a good kick. Inside is that coffee shop feel... really cool. I like it.

    Chicken biscuit with hash brown

I order a chicken biscuit and they place it on a damn hamburger bun. If I would have known this before leaving I would have left it there. I would not suggest anyone close to me go. You have a better chance at Waffle House or Dots than Kelly Kitchen. 14 bucks just to through the food out. I will be calling them to get my mini back

Thankfully, Mark was there and initially was told a 35 minute wait but seemed intent by quicker. Ambiance: 4/5 It was breakfast time so of course it was a busy time. For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

This is precisely why I love it. Places like this can only exist in major Viet diasporas like Houston (#1) where a space has been transformed into a place that operates like a sports bar, a lounge, a family destination, and a Vietnamese pub menu that all at the same time. This phenomenon deserves its own category and name (#2) but is more common than one might think. As noted earlier, this place is enormous. It might not look like much from the outside, but the place is sprawling with a copious amount of chairs and tables of various sizes, along with an outdoor area that really add to the overall feel of the place. There is a large bar with a several bartenders, TVs and projection screens with sports and music, and bathrooms that reek of desperation. (#3) The food skews heavily Viet but I was somewhat surprised at how legit the pho and banh mi was, at least for a bar. They also have a number of plates for mi xao (stir fried rice noodles), com (rice plates), lau (hot pot), sinh to (smoothies), and dedicated sections for chim cut (quail) and de (goat). I was also taken aback by the prices, where banh mi is $5 and pho is $11 (except the $13 dac biet) and coffee is $4.99. Booze was also in the same realm as cocktails and beers varied between $3-9. Nothing about the food that I was able to sample was destination worthy, but I'm not mad at it. Affordable variety goes a long way. If there was any real drag, it's the inconsistent service. The staff can be a little too lax at times, where they're slow to bring things out and somewhat inattentive. Viet is the preferred language naturally and parking is either on the street or in the lot directly across the street. A good time can be had here, which I would suggest for a large group. There are heaps of local families that are coming in for a feast and always a small number of Viet uncles going hard on the Heineken while watching sports on TV. With good company, s'ok food, and a festive ambiance, it's guaranteed quality people watching. __________ (#1) Or San Jose, The OC, Portland, etc. (#2) House of Chu Hai? (#3) And then some.

You take a right on the feeder and a left into their gate parking. The outside can be slightly discouraging, though the space is absolutely incredible. The food was amazing, the servers were attentive, kind and respectful. They have two areas, one for inside dining and one for outside. My SO and I opted for inside as it was raining heavily. In most corners of the place, there's windows. As you can imagine, with the nature of the scenery, the rain made this place more magical. The food was great and afterwards, we went outside. The entire space is beautifully put together and is overall very grounding. Keep this place alive, visit and tip well! Imo it's one of the few golden nuggets left in htx that's still standing.

Service: not great, we had a manager start off as our server but she was awkward in a "not socially aware" way (ex. she kept saying our server had to use the bathroom, even when our server came to the the table and looked so embarrassed; she also told me my non-alcoholic drink order would not taste good without knowing it's what I drink at home), rushed us (every time she said she would give us a moment she'd come RIGHT back to the table within seconds) Our actual server started off rocky as well, perhaps wasn't having a good day and she was visibly annoyed with the manager. She was short and blank with us until she realized we're very nice lol and by the end, her tone and energy had completely shifted for the better. The foreign object: about 2/3 of the way through the meal, I bit into a small piece of blue plastic. Did not know if it was in the fish or the mac and cheese, but I was devastated because I was almost finished eating but couldn't due to paranoia. Our server handled it swiftly and the manager came and let us know it was take off the bill and offered free dessert. Overall, not bad and the food was good enough to where I would go back and give them another try in the future.

Items we tried: Pane - delicious Roasted Carrot Pizza - AMAZING, A little spicy, but definitely something we would order again. Pastas we ordered initially came out cold - our incredible waiter immediately corrected the issue. But from a flavor profile - Pansotti - sooooo delicious. You'd never guess that it was a vegetarian option - the mushrooms were so meaty. The delicate pouches with the spinach and ricotta were heavenly. Pappardelle - The lamb braised sauce had a depth of flavor that could rival any restaurant in Italy. My only tiny hope was that the pasta would have been served aldente, it was a little overcooked. We chose patio seating, which was nice because the interior is quite dim -- although I now have 7 mosquito bites. I overall thought the food was good but nothing was stellar. We ordered the house salad and Capicola, which was a mistake because flavor-wise they were nearly identical, the main difference being that the Capicola had meat. Both salads were well done and had a nice balance of flavor and freshness. I really enjoyed the fish -- lightly salted, nutty, and crispy -- but I added the lemon it came with, which made it bitter. The rigatoni was creamy and cheesy. It was a solid pasta, nothing out of the ordinary but still enjoyable. Mimo is the type of place I would visit if I lived nearby.
