Came here for the first time to meet some friends I havent seen in years-Thur 9.24.20 approx: 7:30pm. The sort of young looking waitress workn this shift was extremely RUDE, UNWELCOMING and UNPROFESSIONAL. From myself being a business owner too in times like this especially, there is NO reason for other businesses to suffer poor customer service from employees like this. I don't usually like to leave bad reviews but feel obligated to update my last review so people spending their hard earned money know what to expect. A group of 5 of us came here to watch a college play off game on a week night. The place was packed but they had just 1 waitress. Seriously, 1 person and just 1 bartender. Needless to say it took forever to get drinks. Our food all arrived cold. At half time the owner finally arrived and started bussing tables but still no additional servers. The place, including us, all cleared out at half time to watch the game somewhere else. read more

The only bar in the area with moxie. It's a little old school. Mostly older regulars in here. Veteran and good bartenders. Anything you could possible want to drink. Solid menu and decent daily specials. The only place I go for a drink in this area. The food is surprisingly good here. I usually come here on a bad day or a hang over for a lunch and drink. I even took a chance on a fish taco daily special and it blew my expectations away. Whoever is doing the cooking here is doing a great job. I like that it's darker in here and a lot of people come here to watch a game. I'll take it any day over the new internet cookie cutter gastro pubs or spanking new craft breweries in the area. read more

If I asked you to imagine a bar, this place is going to be pretty darn close to what you imagine. It really has all the classic features - but it is not a trendy hipster bar, so if that is what you are looking for, do everyone a favor and stay away. There are few places in the area you can get a drink, play pool and watch sports on TV. So, unless you are coming over to my place, you may as well go here. Good selection of beer and friendly staff. Kelly's is the type of place you go to if you're trying to grab a drink and do not want to drive more than 10 minutes. It's a dive bar, but not as divey as some of the other bars in Rancho Bernardo. It can get pretty crowded on a Friday and Saturday night and they close at 2! You will almost always see someone that you know if you're from the area which can be a negative for some of us (haha). There seems to be an older crowd, though. There is almost oddly someone here who gets too drunk, and it's usually middle aged women. Interesting, but be prepared. Power to them though! There is one ladies' restroom and one men's restroom so sometimes that can be a problem if it's busy in there! The drinks seem to be fairly priced. I've never ordered the food here but whenever someone has something it smells good and the portions look large! There are two pool tables (a quarter machine for change as well), shuffleboard, darts, and a jukebox. Lots of places to sit and an outside patio. read more

I've been here once, to grab a bite to eat. It was around 6 pm on a weekday. It was busy, but not packed. The bartender immediately greeted us. Our server was very much in a hurry. She seemed like a nice person in general, but wasn't very customer oriented. Perhaps it was just a very busy night for her. Our food wasn't very good. The fries and onion rings were very greasy and the hamburger was undercooked. May come back for some drinks and to catch a game, but definitely won't be ordering food again. read more

BEWARE, some of the bartenders are thieves, if you leave your tab open they add drinks. The Friday night male bartender is rude to customers, definitely does not have the experience or temperament to handle a crowd. I watched one of the female bartenders ask a customer for a beer and then pocket the money. It's too bad because the owner is nice and the food is good. Another day, another dive bar. This one is larger than some, and a little cleaner than some too. Things I like: shuffleboard, pool tables. Semi-cheap (though not as cheap as other dives) drinks. Acceptable beer list. Outdoor patio Things I dislike: Really expensive wings. Some TVs are dying/not HD (they're sort of a sports bar so TVs are important.) Overall, it's a dive bar, so you know what you're getting into. I've also heard the crowd varies - I've only been on a weekend afternoon (around lunch) so the crowd was a mix of regulars from around the neighborhood and people going to a wedding at the RB Inn who were looking for a bar that served liquor at non-hotel prices nearby. Until recently... I have been going to Kelly's for many moons. I've met many of my greatest friends here, and I'll forever cherish that! Unfortunately the owners sold the bar... When we all first heard of the bar being sold, we found people that have been 86'd (for good reason) assuming that they were allowed back due to the ratchet new owners.. Because escrow had not closed they were kicked out... And obviously they threw a fit.. (How mad would you be if you weren't allowed into the bar that your friend was claiming they owned already?) so.... The ratchets kept on Rollin in... Eventually it got to a point where we joked that it was the new IR. So after two days under new ownership, I decided to give it a try despite the crowd the new owner had drawn.. I work in Carlsbad and drove about 40 minutes to there... And guess what... IT WAS CLOSED. Maybe it should be expected that someone in real estate can't run a bar, but really CLOSED DURING THE WORLD CUP?! Who are you?! Needless to say there are plenty of other places to drink around here, Kelly's will never again be one of them. Hopefully you'll read this review and assume based on the thousands of dollars I spent here with the previous owners, that my opinion holds some truth. It's a sports bar. I think you can probably picture just about everything that means. It's pretty good-sized, they have trivia sometimes, they have 'regular' patrons, and they serve all kinds of drinks and the typical bar food. I like the bar games they have (pool, shuffleboard, darts), and the fancy digital jukebox thing is kinda cool- I guess you can link your phone to it? Wow. In another life, this place was called McKee's and I'd walk in and know everyone there. That was, oh, more than 10 years ago. Now it's Kelly's Pub, and it hasn't changed a lot. It's a bar. In a strip mall. They do have shuffleboard, but other than that nothing really drew me into the place other than nostalgia. If I lived in the hood I wouldn't mind going there, but I doubt I'll make a trek out here again. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years now and unfortunately since the new owners have taken over, the service has gone down. The Servers are still great. Its more of the owner lady/bartender that is insanely slow when she is running the bar. I've been in there and waiting over 15 mins for my drink (when its less than half packed) and watched her bullshit with the people she knows sitting at the bar while Im sitting at my table with an empty drink. Service always slows down tremendously when she is running the bar. Please lady, fork out the cash for your replacement behind the bar or let the other bartenders work more often. read more

Terrible. The older lady behind the bar (whom I was told is the new owner) was incredibly rude. She said and I quote, "I have no glasses back here. Maybe you can go get some from the tables for yourself'". I have never received service like this from Kelly's, or anywhere for that matter. What a shame. I want the old Pub back. Just a casual bar to hang out at if you're the type who doesn't like crowds. Friendly bartenders. Games, and quarter pool tables. Indoor and outdoor seating. The place could definitely use an update, or at least new tables and chairs that are more comfortable. Overall, chill spot. Nothing special. read more

Great local bar for drinks, music and loud conversations. Total local bar with a variety of customers. Stopped by here on a Friday night after wine at dinner wasn't enough to make it an evening lol. Ordered some specialty drinks, shots and water. No service unless you walk up to the bar. It took me about 8 1/2 minutes of thinking I saw a waitress to figure that out. No problem walked up to the bar ordered drinks and was back to my table in 7 minutes. Fast bartenders that knew what they were doing, very attentive and well poured drinks. Not too much alcohol but more than the small splash you can sometimes get. This place in not a total dive bar. I guess that is all subjective to who is judging. I saw normal local RB people having fun, nothing rowdy or crazy which is not too divey in my eyes. Now that I know this place is here i will check it out instead of the always over-crowded Pitchers or not crowded enough Cheers. I will be back here. read more

Service can be hit and miss, depending on the bartender - and if there's a waitress for the tables. And likewise food has been an adventure... my last experience was a cold dish because of inattentive service. But most of the staff are nice and so are the patrons. The sad news is they just jacked prices up 20%, so I'll be spending more money down the road at another Irish pub. read more

Worst bar ever - Negative 5 stars!!! Went for Tuesday happy hour, overcharged for drinks... menu says $3 wells but they charge $5.50, I questioned the bill & she said "it's an old menu". I just shook my head and still tipped her. So they rip you off via an old menu, and the food was DISGUSTING! The carne asada taco I barely ate was the WORST thing I have ever eaten in my entire life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's smelled like poop, so terrible, can't get the smell out of my nose and off my hands. What the hell are they cooking??? PUKE!!! To top it off, never heard the F word shouted so many times in 30 minutes, F this F that constantly... could tell the we're regulars.
