Batter Balls used to increase the weight of Fried Clams. This should be illegal

Kelly's in Revere -- What Happened to the Whole Belly Clams? Today I ordered what they consider a half-pound of whole belly clams. What I received was mostly clam strips, along with dozens of grease balls--batter with no clams at all. Not only were there virtually no whole bellies, but I was also charged $38.52 ($36.00 +tax) for what amounted to balls of leftover batter and no bellies. I was so disappointed that I brought them back to the counter to show the employees. They acknowledged that they were "batter balls," explaining that they were runoff from the batter. I ate most of them until I realized what they were. Please see picture If I wanted fried dough, I would have gone somewhere else. Unfortunately, Kelly's in Revere has really gone downhill. The service is slow, and the place has become commercialized, feeling more like another fast-food chain than the Kelly's I remember. On a beautiful summer beach day, I was surprised to see virtually no line--and now I understand why. After being a loyal customer for more than 50 years, I can honestly say: Don't waste your money. Shame on you Kelly's for ripping off your long term previously loyal customers

    My kelly's bag

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I feel people should be aware of my experience. I visited the Revere Beach Kelly's Roast Beef and ordered a sandwich. After taking a bite, I realized the bottom of the bun had mold on it. Unfortunately, I had already eaten part of it before noticing. I even took photos because I couldn't believe it. I contacted Kelly's about what happened. They did process a refund, which I appreciate, but I never received any apology or acknowledgment of the situation. Finding mold on food is a serious issue, and I expected at least a response expressing concern. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but customer service is how a business responds when they do. I hope this location pays closer attention to food quality and freshness so this doesn't happen to someone else.

Dryft was an upscale experience from the usual stands and restaurants that historically been part of the Revere Beach dining experience since mid-century and further back. Dryft is easy to get to from the beach side and the subway. We ate on the outdoor deck. The restaurant is above street level for an ocean view. What a great way to enjoy a summer afternoon. Our service was great, professional not overly friendly. I liked the atmosphere, casual but a bit upscale for Revere Beach. The food was delicious. I tried the clam chowder, and ordered the mushroom gnocchi. Which both delicious. They have a full bar and they offer high tops, regular chairs and indoor & outdoor seating. The menu has a Lunch price until 3 and a dinner price. I'll be back.

I came in at about 8:45 when they close at 10, and I was told they could not seat me outside because the kitchen was closing. I said if I order oysters or something that doesn't require the grill, can I be seated outside? They said they would ask the kitchen. The host came back and said sure, that would be fine. Then brought me through the dining room to a table. I asked again if I could be seated outside because I am eating, she said no, even though there were about 8 or 9 tables available outside. So I asked to be seated at the table by the window closest to the ocean, which you couldn't see out of based on the reflections of the lights. I likely would have chosen another place if I knew it would be so difficult to get a table outside even when they are available. So I ordered a dozen oysters, half blondes from Blue Hill Bay Maine, half were from Little Pilgrim, Mass.; they were delicious and fresh. I looked them up afterwards and I'm not sure they gave me the right names, but they do look close and at least they had a relative idea of where they were from. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche with plantains, it was good with a decent amount of shrimp but I felt like there could be more, and the plantain chips took up the majority of the dish to make it look bigger. It's a great idea & taste, but could be executed much better. I tried their Dragon's Kiss for a drink which I liked. I forgot our servers name, she was nice but I did feel like she had wanted me to order more for a bigger tip. Tip: give great service and you don't have to upsell to get a bigger tip. It was $120 for 2 drinks, a dozen oysters, and a shrimp ceviche appetizer. dragons kiss 8.5/10 oysters: blue hill bay blonde, me (?) 10/10 little pilgrim, ma (?) 9/10 shrimp ceviche 7/10 Overall it's a beautiful new-ish (3 years) restaurant overlooking Revere Beach, if you can convince them to give you a table outside. Food is good, not great but I'd need to try them again to give a better opinion. Service is just okay, I didn't like the bait and switch of the tables, or that I just came for a few oysters and a couple drinks and it was $120. ambiance: 4/5 food: 4/5 drinks: 4/5 service: 2.5/5 Dryft: 2.6/5 *docked a point for the table situation. there was no reason why we couldn't have a table outside, especially when I told them I would order raw options to make it easier for the kitchen. there were other people outside.

We were in a completely empty restaurant but they still managed to sit a very loud party right next to us. Ordered a glass of Cabernet- fairly decent pour. Salad dressing delicious- not crazy about the dark green top leaves from the romaine- this is the part I throw out- but definitely edible. My husbands fish was fresh - small portion, mashed potatoes starchy, veg was good - small portion. I had the haddock francase- tiny portion of fish- the sauce was delicious but saturated the 'breading' kind of wrecking it (maybe put the sauce on the side?). Risotto awful. Bread was freshly baked- the crusty part was good-inside seemed a little undercooked. That was my husband's birthday dinner.... Opted to stop at the local grocery store for desert- best thing we ate all day!

I ordered my favorite dish, the Classico Rincon Limeno. I highly recommend this dish, you get a seafood ceviche served in a full body wine glass and a plate full of lightly battered fried seafood. We also tried the Seco De Cabrit, which is Peruvian lamb stew. You get stewed lamb meat with beans and rice. If you love lamb stew, this is a hearty dish to try. My husband ordered the Arroz Marisco, which is reminiscent of a seafood paella. Also good. The whole family shared one flan for dessert. It was very rich. Overall, everything we tried was delicious. The food came out quick and we were pleased with everything we ordered. Customer service was top notch. I can't wait to come back to try more dishes.

We were craving waterfront dining and fried scallops--a combination that's usually hard to mess up. The inside has a tired, seen-better-days feel, so we opted for one of the picnic tables outside. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating area looked like it had been abandoned to fend for itself. A broken picnic table frame, weeds, and an unmistakable "good enough" attitude didn't exactly scream "welcome." The saving grace was the view. Looking out toward Boston was lovely, and watching planes take off and land at Logan was entertaining. That said, if plane spotting is your thing, Castle Island or M Street Beach are much better places to park yourself. Our server was pleasant, but the food never really took off. The clam chowder was basically potato soup with a cameo appearance by one or two clams, and it was much milkier than I prefer. My fried scallops were decent, but hardly memorable. My husband ordered the lobster roll with knuckle, claw, and tail meat (there's also a tail-only option), and his review was a shoulder shrug followed by, "It's okay." At these prices, "it's okay" is not exactly a ringing endorsement. To top it all off, they only accept cash or Venmo. In 2026, that's a choice... and one that raises an eyebrow. Between the lackluster food, neglected atmosphere, and cash-only policy, this place was more miss than hit. We won't be back.
