I thought the Fast, Casual concept as executed by Kelly's Roast Beef was spot on. The service is quick and friendly, the dining room, enormous, the food, excellent. The Surf and Turf special ( a roast beef sandwich and a lobster roll) was an excellent value. And I really liked the lobster roll--too often this is ruined with too much mayo, but the Kelly's version was well-prepared and generously portioned. Kelly's is a nice place with an extensive menu. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant was clean, so a great place for families like ours. Kelly's is right on the way to Logan Airport, so we'll be back. read more

Garbage roast beef at ridiculously high prides. Never go to Kelly's if you can avoid it. Seriously, just drive to Nick's in North Beverly. The food is good but extremely overpriced. Two weeks ago I bought a fish plate and it came with two shrimps. I figured it was a mistake so I brought it over to the cashier who was nice and the manager stated there were more but he'll cook me another one. The cook (Matthew I think, grumpy kid with headphones in) stared me down the entire time he was cooking it.. Odd. Then there was tonight. I fight broke out between a few 17 year old kids with their groups of friends watching (in the middle of a packed house) and after two minutes of the kids swearing and screaming, I went to the managers and asked if they could manage. They said they knew what was going on... TEN minutes later a manager walks around and does absolutely nothing. Great food, poor poor management team. Great friendly cashiers and cleaners. read more

Lets be real, Kelly's is in no way as good as it used to be. The food has really down scaled and it just never seems to be very satisfying. I think that is why there are many mixed reviews. I would say you are lucky to get a good day at Kelly's where the food isn't disappointing. However, I will probably keep trying in hopes for that traditional Kelly's food. read more

Kelly's is amazing and I wish they would open one up in Connecticut. The chicken finger platter with a side of their melted cheddar sauce is exactly what the doctor ordered for your PMSing girlfriend, trust me. There's nothing wrong with this place, they only lose one star for not being in Connecticut. And because I don't know that I'd say they're as good as it gets, but they're damn good, that's fa sho. Their clam strips are tasty as well, but try the chicken finger platter (don't forget the cheese!) if you're a Kelly's virgin. It's huge, it's clean, it's delicious, and I love it. (That's what she said...?) I'm not into roast beef, so I have no idea if it's any good. Why is roast beef such a thing in Massachusetts, anyway? There's a roast beef spot on every block in MA, I've never seen a restaurant dedicated to roast beef anywhere else in the country, is there as reason for this? I prefer Arby's instead. I was not impress at all. Just a regular fast food joint that serves a-ok roast beef sandwich. I'm not a big meat eater so just seeing a sandwich with dripping red blood is not what I prefer. I can pass it the next time it gets suggested. read more

Not as good as the original location. I've actually moved on to the lobster roll because it's always consistent and I can't always say the same about the Roast Beef. If you take it to-go ask for the bun on the side so it doesn't get soggy. Also open late for those who might need a late night snack. read more

I ordered a lobster roll, but some idiot put a hot dog in instead, so I payed $20 for a hot dog. Worst customer service I have ever had. The manager Tom has pointy nipples and every time I would look at them I would lose my appetite. Worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. Nobody should ever come here, same your money. Have stopped here the last few Tuesday nite and it has steadily gone down. I spent a ridiculous amount of money to get fried clams and they were barely cooked soft and mushy the fries with the same the onion rings are the same I won't go again. read more

Roastbeef is obv excellent here and the assiago mayo is delightful as well. What I can't stand is fries and onion rings which should not even take on those names because they taste awful. the not only lack flavor but are poorly battered. I can definitely mirror what everyone else has said, the price doesn't seem worth it for small portions. I got the surf and turf, which came with a roast beef sandwich, small lobster roll, and fries. Roast beef was pretty good and the bun was buttery toasted. The lobster roll was the cold may kind. Although it was definitely meaty and stuffed with lobster meat in the small hot dog bun, it was just meh. No real flavor or anything to rave about. Fries were standard. Surf and turf, best of both worlds. They don't rip you off on the lobster roll.. there's a good amount of meat. The roast beef was well roast beef... moist, tender, but as similar to any other roast beef sandwich. The quart of chowder set us back like $10.. has big portion of clams in there. Dinner for 2 came to $40. Worth it once in a while for a self serve dine in joint. read more

As a local this is one of my regular spots to go to when Im craving good food. My favorites are: The buffalo chicken wrap, the roast beef, the turkey club, and the grilled chicken sandwich. We always stop at Kelly's when we are nearby. The clam chowder is delicious. It's thin but very tasty and there are lots and lots of clams. My favorite clam chowder. The fried clams are delicious. This time they were a bit over fried but I will forgive them this time. The lobster roll was very disappointing. It was still partly frozen. I have never tasted their roast beef because I can get roast beef anywhere but fried clams, that is a special treat. read more

When my kids were younger we would make a trip from NH to Kelly's in Saugus about once a month. Unfortunately, since the kids are now in their teens we haven't been coming here as often. This was our first trip in more than two years since our last visit. The roast beef sandwiches are still the best. I get mine with BBQ sauce. The fries and onions rings are delicious and crispy. My husband loves the cheeseburger and fries. My son got the mozzarella sticks and chicken wings and said they were crispy and flavorful. My daughter got the chicken finger platter. This trip did not disappoint. We will have to make it back here more often. We only wish there was one in NH. read more

Kelly's Roast Beef is a staple in my families diet when we come back into the area. Traditional a Small Clam to share and each person gets a roast beef. On the way back home on our way to the airport we get one to go for the few family members who weren't on this trip. It was nice to sit down indoors here in Saugus, yet the Original is where I like best. read more

One of my pet peeves is going through Kelly's drive through and being asked to wait for my order in the parking lot. Their french fries made me sad. Soggy, greasy and on the cold side. Today, I went into Kelly's for an order. When I arrived, I realized that I wanted to make my order a medium instead of a small. I believe my servers name was Nicholas W (it was on my receipt). He was super nice and as crazy as it was in there he provided true customer service. A coworker snapped at him when he asked her a question and he didn't react. He asked his manager for help to fix my order. As I waited by the fish tank I observed him patting coworker on the shoulder- he said something along the lines of "it's okay" and started helping her with her tasks I believe. She seemed a lot calmer. He seemed to be such an easy going employee. I just appreciated the customer service bc to be honest I didn't expect it. The manager with blonde hair saw me waiting and was really pleasant as well. I usually do the drive through but I'm happy I came in. This isn't just a regular chain - they were really hospitable here. Will be back. read more

Seafood & tarter sauce consistently great as is the roast beef sandwich and onion rings! My brother who lives out of state comes here every time he's in town for the reuben sandwich. My husband loves the hot dogs. I would give it a 5 except that twice I've ordered the roast beef sandwich and asked for extra sauce on the side and found (when I got home) that it had NO sauce at all! :( Also, fries are just OK. Clam chowder is great! Not too heavy or creamy. Moral of this story - check for extra sauce in your bag before you leave the window! read more

Saugus has to be by far the worst location.. I was craving fried shrimp and fries and they gave me all onion rings when we we said all fries which we also confirmed once we got to the window. We asked for all onion rings for my fiancées plate but they gave all onion rings for every plate. I called when I got home and the manager argued with me and hung up. We always have problems with Saugus, normally we only go to revere but Saugus was on our way home. THANK YOU KELLYS FOR RUINING MY DINNER. Never again Saugus. read more

This is my second time visiting Boston and my friend (visited Boston for her wedding) and her sister kept talking about Kelly's!!! Omg, if you want a fresh delicious fish sandwich, go to Kelly's. So after we got her hair done for the wedding, we stopped and picked 2 fish sandwich meals. They offers huge sandwiches, one sandwich cut in half can feed 2 individuals. Ask for salt and pepper, hot sauce and all of your condiments. You have to wait to eat the sandwich, it was so hot because they make it fresh.
