I had to stop in to use the restroom and I was greeted by the nicest lady! I believe her name was Nicole. She was very kind. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked. Pulled in to get some gas and I see this... would you feel safe if you see someone with a lit cigarette emptying trash near active gas pumps?Shes also chatting with someone in a parked suv nearby cussing and swearing for the whole world to hear. I always come to this location because it's close to home and it's close to the highway so it convienent to come here either on the way out or on the way home. All the station attendants are great here and the bathroom is the cleanest public one in all of Oakland lol. I have to point out Nichole Ellison who has helped me several times going above and beyond with her service. She is so personable and friendly! She always greats me with a smile and will spend time having a genuine conversation with me. I went recently with a dirty windshield I couldn't see out of and washer fluid was empty. She went out of her way to fill it for me and show me how to do it myself in the future (all while keeping my screaming toddler in the back entertained and quiet for a few peaceful minutes). Well Ken Betts Chevron- apparently you don't want my business. After passing by Quick Stop because there was a line down the block for their cheap gas, I went to this location to fill up my more than an empty tank. It was 7:50 and the young man working there was wandering around with padlocks and was locking up the gas tanks as people left. He told me that he had to close the gas station by eight and that he was sorry. I did not understand and made him repeat it on multiple occasions as it was 7:50, and not 8 o'clock. This is all to disregard the fact that the Internet says that this location is open until 10. read more

Omar, the garage guy, is THE ONLY PERSON I TRUST MY CARS WITH! He's honest and works hard to get your car up and going...and safe! They are busy, but he'll fit you in the next day, at least. If you need a specific part not carried there, he goes out of his way to find it and help you with recalls. He'll tell you when something is going bad in the car and helps schedule you for follow ups (especially if you're on a budget.) He remembers you and your car, and I've never had an issue with his work...ever. He also cleans up where the work was...doesn't leave a mess. I tell my friends about this shop all the time, and he respects you as a woman and treats you the same as your husband would be treated there. No games or price gauging here. read more

These guys aren't terrible... They're just not that good. I always end up with yucky feelings of regret after visiting them. I've been coming here for years, mainly because they are just up the road from me and I love going to places in my hood. Gas, Oil changes... I'd come here for everything. However, they always cost way more than anyone else, they are SLOW, and they aren't particularly friendly or helpful (which is usually my justification for going to local shops that cost a bit more). The latest for me was when I went to get a smog check. Made an appointment, was told it would take about 2-3 hours to get my car checked. After a few hours, went to pick up my car, waited about 15 minutes, paid and was charged $78.20. Fast forward 4 months. I forgot to mail in my registration within 90 days (oops!) and had to get my car re-checked. Called them, and spoke to someone who brusquely told me that if wanted to bring it in, I would need to make an appointment and get it checked again. He wasn't rude... he just wasn't very friendly or helpful. This time, I called around to other nearby places to compare prices, found another local shop that quoted me $48.20. Plus, they were pleasant on the phone! Went there (without an appointment), they took 15 minutes, and they were super friendly! They also couldn't explain to me why my car took so long to smog when I had an appointment. They had a place for me to sit down, offered me water/coffee, etc. All around, it was just a better experience. So in summary, not a terrible option... just not a good one. read more

Pricey. But close to home. Near highway 13. Good for people coming home and going home. It's at a very convenient location which is probably why they can get away with their higher prices... I forgot which pump # it was, but it sucks!!! I can never get it to stay put and pump gasoline consistently. I try to avoid that specific one. It gets minus two-stars because certain pumps don't accept my company's gas debit-card for company-car gas purchases. I have to waltz inside the store and perform the transaction there. He zip-tied the piece onto my front bumper and trimmed the piece that likely caught to minimize the risk of it happening again. And then, considering the fact he put the car on the lifts, used his tools and equipment, he didn't charge me! This place isn't listed on Yelp apps as a gas station, only a service station but rest assured, they have gas! Gas that cost more than the other gas stations in the area. Whoever was on cashier duty on 7/22/17 at 8:50am has poor customer service skills. When I walked in to buy a full tank worth of gas for my SUV, the cashier was busy playing a game on his smartphone. He couldn't bother to look up or say, "I'll be right with you." He just kept playing his game. After waiting a long while, I finally said, "Forget it!" It was at that point he finally acknowledged my existence. But there was no way I was going to give them my business after that and I left. I hate this gas station. Everything is more expensive than it should be. $7.00-ish for cigarettes, almost $3.00 for a 8.6oz can of Redbull, gas is more expensive, and oil change is highway robbery. If you need soda, Redbull or cigarettes, there's a liquor store and a CVS right in the shopping center. Definitely a lot cheaper than this rip off bitch. If I have to fill up on gas here, I only fill up 3 bucks then go somewhere cheaper to fill up. I hope this place goes out of business, because they deserve to with the prices they charge. read more

Gas is pretty expensive here, however their location is very convenient. The air is always on, and is free. ( Most places in the area you have to buy gas before they turn it on ) The parking lot is pretty steep so you have to be careful when pulling in & out. read more

I would not give this gas station not even one star.I have been buying gas at this station for years.I have never asked for anything else I just got gas.But I mean But! today 3/13/2017 I bought gas and when I wanted to start my car the battery was dead.I had a new battery in my car so I asked the mechanic if I could borrow a wrench he let me but it was the wrong size ,he was an older man seemed to be OK guy.So I went back over to ask if I could borrow another one he went off,the other mechanic was going to let me use it but he went off ,saying Im really not suppose to let you use tools if I let you I have to let everybody use tools.He said I could make you push your car out the way.So I told him forget it I have been buying gas all these years here and this is how you treat your customers and he kept on rambling something I told him Im not going to argue with you forget it I said.Ill call my roadside service.What happen to just being kind from one human to another.Im never going back there again.Watch out if you need help from there.Thats where the bucks stop.Phil D read more

When you find a mechanic you trust, you don't go anywhere else. They are honest and do good work.

I was taken to this service station by a AAA tow company. My clutch went out. I was in Oakland in a questionable part of town, barely made it to a college campus and waited for the tow to arrive. Since I did not have more than a 5 mile tow on AAA, the tow driver recommended the Chevron Service Station a few blocks away. I asked him if it was a good and fair repair station and he talked it up a lot. OK, so I went with this AAA tow truck driver's recommendation. This was a BIG mistake. I was told at first that the cost to replace the clutch would be around $360. Then I got a call that it would be more like $600+ dollars. Then I got a call that there were all kinds of things that needed to be repaired. Note: this is a 1990 Toyota Camry work horse of a car, and I have had regular maintenance work on it, has always run excellently, and I have never been told that there were major problems. I have always had every three month maintenance work done on this car and repairs made along the way. I asked if it was safe to drive without all the repairs, and the answer was it was not safe. I asked them to call me back with an estimate. I figured it would be better to have the work done and not have to go incur the cost of buying another car. Well, this is when this guy at the repair show totally ripped me off. He called saying that it would cost $2,000! I asked again if it was safe to drive the car without these repairs. Of course, he said it would be unsafe. So, I bit the bullet. ANOTHER MISTAKE. First, I noticed that the clutch shifting mechanism was still sticking greatly. When I took the car back to talk to the mechanic about this, he totally dismissed my concern, was rude and again, dismissive and actually said I didn't know what I was talking about, sat in the car and pushed the clutch back and forth. Well, a not running car would not show the problem and I told him this. I actually said to him that I know how my car drives, how it should feel and that it didn't feel right (been driving this car since it was new). He boo-haha'ed me and said nothing was wrong. One day later, the supposed new clutch gave out in my driveway. It was towed back to this station because they shistered me out of $2000 dollars. I trusted this mechanic because I don't know anything about cars, needed my car to get to work (I'm a school teacher). They changed the clutch AGAIN but it is still not shifting right. So I took it to a reputable local mechanic to check Ken Betts Redwood Chevron mechanic's work, who said he would evaluate the work. He came back with: The clutch was not aligned properly and will give out, they used poor quality parts on all of the work, and that he was surprised at the amount I was charged for the work done. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE - IT IS A RIP OFF. Another thing, Ken Betts mechanic assured me that an oil leak had been repaired. Not true, oil is still leaking. They refuse to do anything this, but I also do not trust the place and don't wnat to take it back to them. Never take a AAA tow driver's recommendation. I have been told they get a kick-back for doing this (not sure this is true, but this is what I have been told). I had to pay for the check of Ken Betts Redwood Chevron's Auto Service mechanic's work. AGAIN, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. IT IS A RIP OFF. I have been told to report them to the auto repair state department. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. read more
