I made a call and the same repair that I was quoted as $480 at another local auto repair shop, Sebastian quoted me as about $250 dollars. And then the other repair of the right and left arms for some part of the engine that I was quoted as $1184 by the other Auto shop, Sebastian told me that it's normal wear and doesn't need to be repaired yet. Now it makes sense that the previous repair shop wanted to charge me $50 per bulb to put in when my bulbs went out on my car. So I went and got the bulbs myself at O'Reilly's and put them in myself the first time until I found out O'Reillys offers complementary bulb replacement. It was tough finding a place that will do it, but with great luck I stumbled upon Community Auto Garage. Gave them a call and they immediately responded and answered all the questions I had. They did an awesome job with the hitch installation. My boyfriend and I were able to enjoy riding our bikes out of town with their help! Fast forward to today, I had my car serviced for a faulty starter and bad alternator. I was quoted an insane amount at the dealership, but was quoted a much reasonable price here. It was smooth scheduling the appointment with Kam. Throughout the process, he was informative & communicative. He provided photos and videos and went above and beyond with updates! They were able to get my car done faster than their estimated time as well. It was such a relief working with them! They do fast, reliable and honest work. I neglected to do that bc I figured it couldn't cost that much to basically get a tire rotation and have them spend 15-20 min checking fluid levels and stuff. Not complicated AT ALL. Attached is what's needed. I was charged like $200 and was floored. Esp now that I'm due for my next routine maintenance and other places are quoting me $35 for a rotation. Maybe these guys are fine for actual repairs and serious mechanic work, but I don't appreciate being taken advantage of, which is quite common in this industry against women, which is sad.

The front desk person (there 28 years!) checked my Carfax and caught that the dealership had already done most of the work - something they never told me while quoting $1900. At Engine Works, I got only what I needed for $190, with no pressure, no upselling, and full transparency. He even declined a tip, saying, "I've been here 28 years - I'm not going to change my honest ways now." They gave me a roadmap for future maintenance, the estimate matched the final invoice, and online booking was easy. I dropped off at 10am, and it was done by noon - much faster than expected. The staff was friendly, they welcomed my two trained dogs, and my car is running better than ever. I commuted from Oakland and it was absolutely worth it. I will definitely be back.
