So i figured out exactly what they did and how to fix it. when I drove the car to Volkswagen the car was driving, smooth and when I got the car back around 30 to 40 miles an hour, the car would start shaking. also, the coolant was leaking, which was not prevalent when I drove it to Volkswagen so I was confused on how this could be two new symptoms. Well how I was able to fix it because I actually know how to fix the car I just didn't have the computer and that's why I wanted the diagnostic, but I ended up buying the computer myself and I figured it out myself through a freeze frame analysis and analyzing the exhaust cam and the intake cam positions, actual and specified. The reason the EPC light was turning on was because the exhaust cam phaser has a locking bolt that had broken and the variable valve timing sensor that senses that exhaust cam had been taken out and then twist it and essentially broken and placed back in the sensing hole and then there is an additional issue with the car, not reaching the proper temperature and once I fixed the coolant hose that had the coolant vent valve that is supposed to stop air from circulating in the coolant line system actually was allowing air in because there was a cut on the coolant line so once I fix the coolant line and I fix the variable valve sensor that never had any problems until I brought it to them then I was able to determine that the exhaust camp phaser need to be replaced because of a broken pin and I also need to replace the water pump because there was some vandalism next to one of the hoses that was leaking that wasn't there before I brought it in. what I truly think this tech was doing was creating a problem were the only way to fix it was to replace the exhaust cam phaser the variable valve timing sensor the timing belt the timing belt tensioner the water pump a new water pump belt, and a few new coolant hoses and also a vacuum hose because the tiny leak that was there before had become a very big leak by the time I left. Anyways, the total cost for me to fix all of these problems was $10 from the junkyard for a new coolant hose off a 2009 Volkswagen and I cut the coolant valve out of the old hose and shoved it in. They used hose, then the temperature started functioning properly, I ordered the variable valve timing sensor off of eBay for $25 and it worked perfectly fine, I ordered an exhaust cam phaser used off of eBay for $50 and so far it's working OK and I ordered a water pump off of eBay for $66 with tax free shipping and then I had to buy the computer to figure this all out that was $220 and I use my $20 AI membership to analyze some of the measurements. The great news is is I never had to adopt the car in anyway and I also never had to go into the advanced functions. This was all mechanical and it was just one and done. Need to fix a few parts that had been I believe intentionally damaged when I brought the car into them. I don't believe the car actually had an issue, however, once you fix a timing belt, and the timing was off by a tiny bit. The sensors do come back on, but when I fix the timing belt on the last run, it actually was OK enough to pass. I just need to drive it for three days and that's what I didn't do so before you bring your car into Volkswagen after you have a major repair make sure you always drive it for three days to see if the codes clear themselves.

Steven was an a-hole didn't even bother checking to see if the dealership had any loaner cars at 8am , management should fire him dude does not care about his attitude , customers , and makes VW brand look bad, I mean just look at him. I called and made an appointment 1 month ahead as they told me Dec 13 would be a day they would be able to work on the recall and give me a loaner car , stating over the phone they would be able to give me a loaner car in person when I should up Steven didnt even bother checking he just shut me down right away being rude with an attitude and dealerships lot was full of cars literally no parking no where lol pretty sure they had loaners . I currently have a recall on my car about the front passenger airbags potentially going off automatically , if these airbags go off I will sue Steven and this dealership for my injuries .

This is probably going to be the longest most heartfelt review I've ever given. As it's not just a…read morereview for the dealership but kind of my love letter to chevy. Let me start with context and backstory. I'm disabled and have severe health challenges biggest of which is a hereditary cancer syndrome leaving me needing to go to the hospital frequently for scans and treatments. I have to drive over an hour one way to get to my doctors. I grew up riding shotgun in my dad's box truck chevy. He bought me my first car which was an old busted 80s chevy citation. I drove a chevy s10 through college. I made the mistake of trading it in for a dodge. It got repossessed when I got sick with cancer. We had my significant other's car and I ended up buying my dad's old mazda to drive around town. But I haven't had my own car...nonetheless my own NEW car...ever. His latest car he bought in 2022 around the time my dad bought his new chevy colorado that he had Autonation gilbert custom order from chevy for him. He had to wait months for that damn truck but he bought it fully paid off to be his boat hauling retirement truck. Unfortunately he got sick with cancer himself and never got to enjoy his new truck. But he knew I needed safe reliable transportation so he left me his truck. Unfortunately the truck sits pretty high up and I unfortunately very much earned my handicap plate the hard way. Not just for the better parking. So it was hardly being driven and was essentially being kept as a shrine to my father. I would climb my gimpy butt in it to drive it religiously to the car wash and clean it and such and sit and remember him with his ashes hanging in the rearview mirror. I know my dad's thoughts on my brother having chevy "show trucks" he hardly ever drove(we are a die hard chevy family). "Trucks are meant to be driven". I ultimately was not doing that truck or his memory justice by leaving it sat in the driveway. Nor was it fulfilling my needs for safe transportation. When the transmission blew on my partner's car - it made me keenly aware that the warranty was coming up on my truck's drive train despite it being in pristine condition and super low mileage. Plus I can't get in and out of it safely. So it got me entertaining trading it in for something lower with better commuting gas mileage. As back to - this would truly be MY first brand new car of my own. I wanted a chevy...and I wanted preferably a red one in homage to the very first car I ever had that I spent hours with him working on. He was a mechanic. I have no memories of him in that beige colorado outside of the pics of when he bought it and when he handed me over the keys as he was dying. I don't want those memories. I want the memories of the old red busted chevy. I went to window shop and test drive models at the chevy dealer nearest me. There was a chevy sales event going on and they were OVERLY eager to make a sale. I test drove a basic trailblazer and a trax 2RS. The basic trailblazer felt like a serious downgrade from a chevy Z71. But amazingly for being a 3 cylinder - I was blown away by the chevy Trax 2RS. It had ALL of the features of the colorado Z71 and then some. And it didn't overtly feel like a hamster engine. Though I will admit - it is no colorado engine. THAT was yes - a downgrade. But I looked it up online. Car and Driver's #1 car for families under 40K and #1 crossover SUV?! Plus more than 10 mpg better on gas mileage than a colorado? In today's economy - i'll take that trade off. I specifically shared that I was sentimentally attached to my dad's truck when we walked in to the dealer and wasn't feeling rushed to necessarily buy. But that we wanted a key for key trade. I knew with the super low mileage on my truck - they were making out in this deal. "We only have the trax or a trailblazer." "We don't have a red one", "If you don't buy it tonight it might not be here - it's the last 2RS!" . It had a sunroof - I didn't want a sunroof. Even though that'd technically be an upgrade I don't want to worry about the seal cracking in the az sun and leaking. While the sales manager and my partner haggled over extended warranties - I scrolled on my phone - looking for that red trax 2RS. I put in exactly what I wanted on the chevy website - and low and behold closest one was at autonation chevrolet gilbert - where my dad bought his truck. We also saw that they were still open for another 2 hours. Ok universe. I went in and met with Dave Wright. I told him exactly what I wanted and showed him the offer that the other dealer had given. They were completely willing to match the other dealer's offer and gave me a great deal on a 10 year warranty too. Dad's truck gets to go be a truck and I FINALLY at the age of 49 get a brand new car of my own. Only thing I'm really missing is the wireless charger but that's on the sunroof package only. That's a damn shame Chevy. Chevy family for life!

The problems were completely outside of CarMax's control, but what really stood out was how they handled the situation. From start to finish, they made the entire process as stress-free as possible. TJ Schlake was my sales consultant, and Mustafa, one of the sales managers, were both outstanding to work with. Their first priority was trying to find me another vehicle that fit exactly what I was looking for. When we couldn't find the right replacement, there was no pressure or hassle. They honored their return policy, took the vehicle back without any issues, and refunded my down payment exactly as promised. Even though the first vehicle didn't work out, the customer service was exceptional, and that's what I'll remember most. They treated me with respect throughout the entire process and made what could have been a frustrating experience incredibly easy. My family has had another great experience with CarMax as well. We sold my son's car to them, and they offered significantly more than anyone else. The process was quick, straightforward, and transparent. They paid off the remaining loan and handed him a check for the difference before he left. There was no back-and-forth negotiation, and the entire purchase process was remarkably streamlined compared to traditional dealerships. From start to finish, it took a little over an hour to complete the paperwork and drive off the lot. Llyah was excellent to work with and made the buying experience smooth and stress-free. After purchasing the vehicle, I took it to a local BMW dealership for an independent inspection. They identified a few concerns, including tread depth that was below acceptable standards on three of the four tires and an overdue cooling system flush. The BMW service department suggested I contact CarMax to see whether they would address the issues. A few days after reaching back out to CarMax, I was contacted by Alexandria from the service department. She explained that CarMax generally does not perform preventative maintenance based on age and instead follows mileage-based maintenance guidelines. Because the vehicle had not reached the mileage threshold for a cooling system flush, they declined to perform that service, even though it had been more than four years since the last one. However, CarMax did inspect the tires and ultimately determined that three of the four did not meet their sales standards. They replaced all three tires at no cost, including mounting and balancing. I was surprised they did not feel an alignment was necessary, as I've typically had one performed whenever new tires are installed, but I appreciated their willingness to correct the tire issue without any pushback. Another issue surfaced a few days after purchase when a sour odor began coming through the vents. While trying to locate the source, I discovered a decomposing rat in the vehicle. Combined with the tire situation, this left me with the impression that the pre-sale inspection may have been more cursory than thorough. Despite those concerns, I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff, the efficiency of the buying process, and CarMax's willingness to resolve significant quality issues after the sale. The customer service was excellent throughout. That said, their vehicle inspection and preparation process before putting cars on the lot could use some improvement. If those areas were addressed, this would easily be a five-star experience.

While driving on the highway and through my neighborhood, the vehicle exhibits dangerous symptoms that could cause an accident for me and my family of five at any time. I came prepared. I already had the specific symptoms and diagnostic data (code P07E6) that directly links my vehicle's erratic behavior to the open safety recall 26S48. Instead of listening to me, validating my data, or taking the safety of my family seriously, the service staff completely invalidated my concerns. They treated this major hazard as insignificant and were much more interested in trying to charge me a diagnostic fee right out of the gate than actually looking at the proof I was providing. A different, reputable Ford dealership in the area actually listened, looked at the data, verified the recall, and confirmed I was right all along. If you have a serious issue or a recall, do not trust this service department to take your safety seriously. They just want your diagnostic fee.

I was working with another dealership, as I had been pre-approved, but let me tell you what made the difference.. the service at Goldie's ! Through text and email, John, my sales-friend, (I call him) was so relatable and communicative. Walking in I have to admit is pretty cool, in the show room they had a old school IMMACULATE Corvette, a skew ball machine, and arcade games it felt unlike any other dealership I had walked in. The owners son greeted me and asked if I needed anything and to let him know if I did! He was the sweetest teenager. When they say Goldie's is a family business they really mean it ! I was working with John and let me tell you he was so transparent and honest it was like a breath of fresh air. I had considered other vehicles they had but he talked me through the maintenance cost, resale value and common mechanical issues each of the cars I had considered. Once I settled on a vehicle he was able to check for me the maintenance records as well as reviewed the carfax report with me. When I took the car for a test drive he told me to take my time get to know the car and make sure it was right for me. I never felt pressured to purchase. I was having a horrible time in dealing with the insurance payout of my previous vehicle and John was very empathetic in understanding my situation. He had set expectations before I came that with the insurance payout being delayed I may not be able to take the vehicle the vehicle home. I was thrilled with the no pressure atmosphere, and just came to take a look at the vehicle in person, with zero expectation to buy. John and his manager worked magic. I did in fact decide to purchase my vehicle and was able to take it home, there is a small cosmetic issue that I requested to have repaired and he called immediately and got the approval to get it taken care of. I'll be returning later this week to have that completed. I'll keep you guys posted after the service appointment. I had a great experience and I feel I got a good deal on my vehicle and, I felt like my business was valued, my concerns were heard and they've made a lifelong customer out of me ! Special thanks to Goldie's and super special thanks to John!
