This is the chili peppa chicken!

Kenna's Kitchen - Kress Street, Lihue If you haven't checked out Kenna's Kitchen on Kress Street yet (formerly Aunty Manapua), you're seriously missing out on some next-level local grinds. Kenna's new food truck is dishing out comfort food that hits hard--like home cooking, only better. I tried the chili pepper chicken and it blew me away. Moist, insanely flavorful, super crunchy, and packed with that deep, savory umami that keeps you coming back for bite after bite. I also ordered the pork hash--savory, juicy, and absolutely spot on. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The portions? Massive. Each plate comes with two sides--choose from tossed salad, corn, or creamy mac salad. Pro tip: get the mac salad. It's made with spaghetti noodles (yes, spaghetti!) and it's creamy, nostalgic, and totally local-style. Pure comfort in a scoop. You can tell Kenna pours love into her food. It's soulful, satisfying, and just makes you feel good.

Mahi in butter and caper sauce with mac salad and tossed salad

Kenna's has good food! We enjoyed the mahi with butter sauce and capers. The food comes with your choice of two sides. I got the tossed salad and mac salad, and both were fresh and tasty. The mahi was really good and the portions are solid. This whole meal cost only $19.50, a real bargain for what you get and for fresh fish prepared well on Kauai. Everyone who was working when we were there was super friendly. There are picnic tables in the shade next to Kenna's and the staff brought the food to our table. It's basically a food truck, and the area around it iis clean and bright and well cared for.

Located across the Costco gas station (same area as Kauai Sushi Station). We picked up lunch for the office and Girls Day! We got 3 Okinawa sweet potato manapua, Hawaiian plate, dioja plate, 3 x fried noodles. Pros: Friendly service Yummy food Ample parking- drive up hill for extra parking Cute food truck Accepts cash and card Good portions Called in order prior to getting there- order was ready to go! Packed and all! Cons: It's so yummy, no more chair siu manapua by 12:30. No really seating area - but who cares, go to the beach We will be back!! Thank you and Congratulations on your new food truck!

Dioja Plate was so good!! You get to choose 2 sides with it. Friendly & quick service from Aunty Manapua & team. We'll definitely be back to try out the Manapua & pork hash too!!

Good food but very disappointing that I swing by quite a few times (at least 3) and checked Instagram before and no one is there.

The first night, my husband ordered the prime rib special with mac salad and rice, which was basically his dream come true, and I got the loco moco, which I shared with my toddler. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. We enjoyed it so much that we came back on our final night and ordered the galbi and lechon kawali. Once again, every dish was a hit. The proteins were flavorful and filling, and the mac salad deserves its own shoutout. It may be my favorite mac salad on the island. This is absolutely the kind of place we'll return to on our next visit. It's also conveniently located near the airport, making it a great first stop when you arrive or a last meal before heading home. A couple things to know before you go: parking was easy when we visited, but there isn't any seating. This is very much a pick-up-and-go spot. I'd recommend calling ahead and placing your order so you're not waiting around. Great food, generous portions, and the kind of local spot you hope to find when traveling. We'll definitely be back.

Service: Service was standard. I wouldnt say anything out of the ordinary. Food took a while as it was fairly busy. Tip: I would suggest calling in your order so that its ready by the time you arrive to save on time. Ambiance: This is not a dine-in establishment so not much to say about ambiance in general. We will def be back should we decide to visit Kaua'i again in the future.

On the other, I want them to get the business they deserve, so I won't gatekeep: you must eat here if you are looking for a truly special meal when visiting Kauai. For many years, Merriman's held the top spot for Mai Tais on the islands for me, but Hualani's just stole the crown, in this reviewer's humble opinion. Perfectly balanced with an out of this world macadamia nut dusted rim. And it's a truly special restaurant too. It's the first place we go when we land, tucked in The Timbers close the airport, you can go from airport to relaxing poolside with a spectacular view in 5 minutes. Service is absolutely top notch - every server, every bartender, every person we spoke to on property was a seasoned pro and a delight to interact with. The food is spectacular. We've had a few items over the years that we just can't get out of our head, the crispy rice poke and the short rib potstickers especially. It's not an inexpensive meal, but if you think of it as renting yourself an hour or two of unpretentious luxury, it's a screaming deal.

It was refreshing to see so many locals coming in, which is always a good sign. We ordered the poke bowl and the Toridon. The Toridon comes with two pieces of their fried ginger chicken, making it a much better value than ordering the chicken à la carte. As you'd expect from a great local poke spot, the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. The fried ginger chicken was flavorful, juicy, and tender, and paired so well with the poke. If you're looking for a casual, local spot with fresh seafood and generous portions, this is definitely worth a stop.

I disagree with some reviews that say that Hamura is nothing special. Iykyk, saimin is supposed to be simple. The broth is so clear and pure, I would just get the regular saimin. IMO you can skip the other stuff (e.g. wontons, lilikoi chiffon pie, other saimins). The perfect order would be regular saimin with side order of ebi tempura and/or chicken skewer. The family and I were pretty ravenous considering we left early from California and hadn't had a meal for about 6 hours. Stopped in and the service was great - everyone was very kind, and it's definitely like stepping in another time period with the old fashioned diner style. I do think because of this though it didn't really cater to kiddos (e.g. no high chair). We ended up ordering regular and large saimin bowls so that we could share with the little one, and it was pretty good, but also pretty salty. I also acknowledge that I'm probably coming from a place of foodie privilege living in the Bay Area, but I think the noodles just didn't really meet out expectations from all of the hype unfortunately. I would definitely recommend trying it once while in Kauai especially for a quick meal! Also, please note that it is cash only, and you can pay at the register by the door when you are finished (which is nice that you don't have to wait for the bill)
