This is the chili peppa chicken!

Kenna's Kitchen - Kress Street, Lihue If you haven't checked out Kenna's Kitchen on Kress Street yet (formerly Aunty Manapua), you're seriously missing out on some next-level local grinds. Kenna's new food truck is dishing out comfort food that hits hard--like home cooking, only better. I tried the chili pepper chicken and it blew me away. Moist, insanely flavorful, super crunchy, and packed with that deep, savory umami that keeps you coming back for bite after bite. I also ordered the pork hash--savory, juicy, and absolutely spot on. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The portions? Massive. Each plate comes with two sides--choose from tossed salad, corn, or creamy mac salad. Pro tip: get the mac salad. It's made with spaghetti noodles (yes, spaghetti!) and it's creamy, nostalgic, and totally local-style. Pure comfort in a scoop. You can tell Kenna pours love into her food. It's soulful, satisfying, and just makes you feel good.

Mahi in butter and caper sauce with mac salad and tossed salad

Kenna's has good food! We enjoyed the mahi with butter sauce and capers. The food comes with your choice of two sides. I got the tossed salad and mac salad, and both were fresh and tasty. The mahi was really good and the portions are solid. This whole meal cost only $19.50, a real bargain for what you get and for fresh fish prepared well on Kauai. Everyone who was working when we were there was super friendly. There are picnic tables in the shade next to Kenna's and the staff brought the food to our table. It's basically a food truck, and the area around it iis clean and bright and well cared for.

Located across the Costco gas station (same area as Kauai Sushi Station). We picked up lunch for the office and Girls Day! We got 3 Okinawa sweet potato manapua, Hawaiian plate, dioja plate, 3 x fried noodles. Pros: Friendly service Yummy food Ample parking- drive up hill for extra parking Cute food truck Accepts cash and card Good portions Called in order prior to getting there- order was ready to go! Packed and all! Cons: It's so yummy, no more chair siu manapua by 12:30. No really seating area - but who cares, go to the beach We will be back!! Thank you and Congratulations on your new food truck!

Dioja Plate was so good!! You get to choose 2 sides with it. Friendly & quick service from Aunty Manapua & team. We'll definitely be back to try out the Manapua & pork hash too!!

Good food but very disappointing that I swing by quite a few times (at least 3) and checked Instagram before and no one is there.

We went on a Saturday around lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. There is a small parking lot near the restaurant on the left hand side. It was filled when we first got there, but we were luckily able to get a spot. I could see this lot filling up quickly during other meal rush hours, so do take note if you plan on driving. The ordering is done like your typical poke place, you tell the service worker what you would like and there's a small toppings bar at the end before the cashier. There was a small line when we went, and even with the line, it still only took about 5-10 minutes to get our food. There isn't interior seating in the restaurant though, you will have to get your food take out, or just eat in the parking lot. I got the 3 scoops of poke option for $15.25, and I think that this is a pretty solid deal for the variety of fish that you can try out! I think based on my personal experience on Kaua'i, it will be difficult to get food, especially poke at a reasonable price. But for this price, it's probably the best place on the island to get poke without paying $20+ for the same variety. The fish tasted fresh, and I am a fan of the selection of toppings they had. If you are in the Lihue area and looking to try some poke at a reasonable price, I would recommend The Fish Express! There seems to be a decent amount of other interesting looking options on the menu, and if I'm ever in the area again, I would totally give them a try!

Our waiter Tron was very informative of the dishes and drinks. We enjoyed our time here. We ordered the coconut shrimps, and potstickers. They both were plentiful of flavor. We tried the French Onion Soup and Crispy Octopus. Both were fine, but nothing especially memorable. The Misoyaki Seabass, however, was excellent and honestly a pleasant surprise - very flavorful, tender, and well prepared. We also ordered the Captain's Combo, which was an interesting combination of two different fish preparations. I think it is a good choice if you are not sure which fish dish you want to try, because it gives you a nice variety on one plate. The only downside was that one of the servers spent about 15 minutes talking very loudly with the table next to us about nothing important. It was distracting and felt inappropriate for the atmosphere of the restaurant. Also, this restaurant seems to be promoted as a place with a view, but in reality the view was not very impressive from where we were seated. Overall, the food and service were good, and I would give it 4 stars. It is a nice restaurant, but there is still room for improvement.

The prices are very reasonable! We probably saved $3-10 off each plate coming from Maui. My dad got the LauLau Plate and said the meat was soft and moist and my mom NEVER annihilates her food and she literally ate every bite of her Steamed Fish which was Catfish today. It had this yummy soy or sesame sauce with some green onions and ginger on top. My Oxtail Soup with Rice was perfect for the cold rainy day. Delicious pieces of fall off the bone oxtail and I literally dumped all the cilantro and ginger in the hot broth. Mom and I had a bit of a fuzzy throat so we got the Calamansi Juice with Honey which was delicious! As you sip, you taste pieces of Calamansi and see swirls of seeds and calamansi skin. If you like pulp, you'd enjoy this refreshing drink. We ended the meal with 4 pieces of hot egg tarts! I'm surprised they had them because when I go to Oahu, there's some spots where you special order them on the weekends. Overall, a delicious local spot here in Lihue!
