Are you kidding me? Apparently this is a locals spot and I somehow stumbled upon it. DELICIOUS. WORTH THE MONEY. CHEAP. BEST POKE EVER!! The line was so long all 3 times we went here and we would have waited 4 times the length because of how good it was. It was so good I didn't take pictures lol The staff is so flippin nice and friendly plus they give huge portions. There is a small parking lot with a few stray cats that try to bug customers for seafood (and won with us). Definitely swing by this place while visiting! read more

The main reason I rate this four stars is because there's not really any place to sit inside; it's small. The food was good, I had a Crab & Shrimp Butter Aioli Poke Bowl. My parents had Spicy Ahi Poke Bowl. Honestly, I liked the Spicy Ahi Poke Bowls better than the Crab & Shrimp Butter Aioli Poke Bowl. The "Spicy" Ahi is not spicy; it has the tiniest kick to it. And that's coming from someone that's sensitive to spice. The service is good; they're quick in giving you your food. Overall, I thought it was great! P.S. I recommend driving to Lydgate Park to eat. Stopped by Konohiki Seafood in Lihue right after landing in Kauai, and it was the perfect first meal on the island. It was refreshing to see so many locals coming in, which is always a good sign. We ordered the poke bowl and the Toridon. The Toridon comes with two pieces of their fried ginger chicken, making it a much better value than ordering the chicken à la carte. As you'd expect from a great local poke spot, the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. The fried ginger chicken was flavorful, juicy, and tender, and paired so well with the poke. First time coming to Kauai and this place was my first and last stop of the trip. The shop is small and does takeout only with a variety of Hawaiian foods and goodies. The staff were straightforward and answered our questions. A no frills kinda spot. We got different types of poke, inari, and their ginger friend chicken. Their poke was fresh and very tasty. Prices are reasonable too. I enjoyed them all. But let me tell you, I would do ANYTHING to have their ginger fried chicken again. It was nothing like I ever tasted. I had no idea what to expect and it was like a flavor bomb in my mouth. It was so good we went back twice in the same trip. It was crispy, fragrant, airy, not heavy, juicy, and so flavorful. Came here on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. This has the best poke on the island. My wife and I scarfed it down after a long day at the beach. I go out of my way to get food at Konohiki Seafood. The selection is good and the seafood has been fresh. I love the scallops, muscles, lomi lomi salmon, the shrimp and crab spicy poke, the seaweed salad, the potato mac salad, the kimchi cucumbers and fresh rice. I usually get a bunch of individual containers and take it home for the family to devour. Everyone loves it. One things to note is that there is no where to sit and everything is to go. Just want to set an accurate expectation that this is not a "restaurant." Think of it more like an efficient take out place with good food. Poke here was amazing! I saw someone on social media that said that it is very similar if not better than Foodland which got me to visit this place. I ordered the poke bowl with spicy ahi which is what they recommended and I was would rate it a 10/10. My boyfriend ordered the chicken plate since he does not eat fish and he said that is was just missing a good sauce. The people operating the place were very kind and efficient. Konohiki Seafoods is pretty much a must for me whenever I land in Lihue. It's super close to the airport, so I usually stop here right after landing before heading out. It's a small spot with no seating, so everything is to go. I really like the freshness and variety of their poke and rice plate options, but honestly one of my favorite things is checking out their specials. They had this dynamite/spicy ahi one before (can't remember the name) that actually had some really good kick to it. I think out of these two I preferred the salmon, super simple well flavored and delicious! Could taste the freshness of the salmon. So good I also tried their ginger shrimp inari. Konohiki was the first poke place we visited during our trip and I had some pretty high expectations. They not only serve poke but you can also find fried food, smoked fish and stuffed inaris. Since we were visiting, we ordered a lot so we could try as much as we could. The shop itself is pretty small and it's very cramped inside. It also serves as a small market so there's snacks stacked up in boxes in the middle of the room. There's a sign on the door that says they allow 10 people max inside so you'll likely see a line forming outside. It might look busy but it's just because they don't want to crowd the place. There's also no place to eat so people will either go to their cars or take it to-go. Poke: We ordered by the pound and chose the Ahi Shoyu and Spicy Ahi Poke. The Spicy Ahi wasn't spicy at all, just creamy. Ahi Shoyu was sweet, kind of like a bulgolgi marinade. I was definitely expecting more, being in Hawaii. The fish was fresh but I thought the flavors were a little lacking. It was also kind of expensive too. Smoked Salmon Belly: This looked so good that I had to get it. I'm a huge fan of salmon belly because of how soft and "melt in your mouth" the meat is. Their smoked salmon belly reminded me of candied ham but fattier because it's salmon belly. Inari: They had a whole display stacked with different kinds of stuffed inaris. These are pockets of tofu skin filled with rice and various seafood and toppings. I tried the Butter Ball, which had shrimp and crab butter aioli, and the Kaiona Ball, which had ahi and imitation crab. Both were pretty good with sizable chunks of either shrimp or ahi. Chinese Plate: It seemed like they were famous for the ginger fried chicken so we ordered a plate that came with 2 pieces, along with spare ribs, fried shrimp, rice, and potato salad. The potato salad was more like a mac salad but with spaghetti. The two fried shrimps were crispy but tiny. The stewed spare ribs were really tender and tasted like adobo but a lot sweeter. The chicken was very crispy and juicy but we had a piece that didn't seem completely cooked through. I also didn't really taste any ginger too. This, on top of everything else we ordered, was a lot and looking back now, we should've just ordered the fried chicken by itself to try. Overall, a good meal but I had higher expectations and nothing really stood out. But considering the options on the island, this is as good as it gets. read more

They also have these things called sushi sushi bombs that I recommend if you stop in this place. I ordered the 2 choice poke bowl with the following: -Maiya Fiya: Creamy, spicy Ahi poke. I enjoyed this one a lot and was initially torn between ordering this or the Spicy Ahi, but I tried my friend's Spicy Ahi and I'd say both are good. Go with the Maiya Fiya if you want more creaminess and a little more of a kick. -Salmon Poke: Salmon is always my fish of choice, but sadly I didn't enjoy this one. It tasted a little off, and they also only gave me maybe 4-5 pieces in my bowl, which was maybe for the best. I feel like maybe we came on an off day for the salmon, because all my friends who ordered it felt the same way. I was originally planning on ordering inari to try, but the line/ordering process moves so quickly that I totally forgot since they immediately rang me up after my bowl came out. Came by around 2 p.m. on a Thursday after a canceled helicopter tour. The place was empty when we walked in but packed by the time we left -- clearly a popular stop. The interior is small jam packed with food and shelves. There's just enough room for people to form a line from the door to the checkout. Ordered some poke, salmon sashimi, some fried foods, and a couple of snacks for dessert. Ordering is super easy: just point at what you want, say how much, and pay at the end. The staff and even other customers were all really friendly, which made the experience even better. Food-wise: the seafood was all super fresh and tasty. The salmon sashimi was a huge portion for $12.50 -- great value. The calamari was a little soggy but still flavorful. The oysters were crunchy, maybe a bit too much breading for my taste.
