Is Konohiki Seafoods the best poke on Kauai? If you ask the locals, they'll probably send you here. This was our first stop after landing on Kauai, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It was so good that we came back two more times during our trip. There are plenty of poke options to choose from, along with other local favorites. If it's your first visit, the selection can feel a little overwhelming, but the friendly staff makes the experience easy. We also tried the ginger fried chicken, and it was delicious. This is definitely a grab-and-go spot, there's no seating, but there's plenty of parking. Arrive early for the best selection, and come hungry!

Stopped by Konohiki Seafood in Lihue right after landing in Kauai, and it was the perfect first meal on the island. It was refreshing to see so many locals coming in, which is always a good sign. We ordered the poke bowl and the Toridon. The Toridon comes with two pieces of their fried ginger chicken, making it a much better value than ordering the chicken à la carte. As you'd expect from a great local poke spot, the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. The fried ginger chicken was flavorful, juicy, and tender, and paired so well with the poke. If you're looking for a casual, local spot with fresh seafood and generous portions, this is definitely worth a stop.

First time coming to Kauai and this place was my first and last stop of the trip. The shop is small and does takeout only with a variety of Hawaiian foods and goodies. The staff were straightforward and answered our questions. A no frills kinda spot. We got different types of poke, inari, and their ginger friend chicken. Their poke was fresh and very tasty. Prices are reasonable too. I enjoyed them all. But let me tell you, I would do ANYTHING to have their ginger fried chicken again. It was nothing like I ever tasted. I had no idea what to expect and it was like a flavor bomb in my mouth. It was so good we went back twice in the same trip. It was crispy, fragrant, airy, not heavy, juicy, and so flavorful. I think about it almost everyday and wish there was something like that in socal. Until we visit Kauai again, I will continue to dream. TLDR, a must visit when you're in Kauai :)

I enjoyed the ahi shoyu and spicy ahi. The shoyu poke tasted more fresh. You can only choose one type of poke for your poke bowl. Based on the reviews I've read I expected the fried food to be better. It was just ok. I do recommend looking at the online menu and knowing what you want to order before you get there so you don't feel as rushed. There was plenty of parking.

    Inside on a Monday afternoon

Came here on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. This has the best poke on the island. My wife and I scarfed it down after a long day at the beach. The ginger fried chicken and ginger fried shrimp were straight gas. Worth to add it on the side. Not really an ambience since it's a quick in and out spot with no dining area. Just a quick convenient store to grab lunch. Pricing was really good. Would easily come back.

This is the spot that locals love to get their poke. By far the best deal on the island. We got the poke + chicken combo and it was under $20. The spicy ahi is very flavorful and the fish is fresh. If you like your poke more saucy, you will love this place. The fried ginger chicken has a unique taste. It's a bit on the sweet side.

Konohiki Seafood was a NONNEGOTIABLE stop before leaving Kauai and wow... it absolutely lived up to the hype. There's a reason this place has sooo many awards hanging all over the walls We got poke bowls, ginger fried chicken, a bunch of different inari, and every single thing was BOMB. Super fresh, flavorful, and one of those spots where you immediately start planning what you'd order next time. Honestly loved everything about this place...the food, the vibe, all of it. If you're visiting the island, you HAVE to make a stop here.

They have many choices of food to pick here. poke to many types of fried food and lau lau. Its a one stop shop for food! The workers are real nice and helpful. Unfortunately there isnt seating area. There is a huge parking lot and a beach near by. Definitely will be comming back for more.

This is a small grab and go spot for seafood and other hot foods. There's a lot of parking also. The service was fast and the food is great. The poke and other seafood was the best thing there. The fried chicken was good also. There's no place to sit so you can grab your food and eat at your car or goto the park or beach.

Amazing Poke Bowls! The place is very homey and the workers are amazing and super helpful. They were patient and made my overall experience a great one. Place reminds me of Taniokas on Oahu. Try their poke. You wont regret it! Will definitely come back when on Kauai.

One of the best poke and local food places on Kauai. We have friends here who eat here multiple times a week. So good. Today I hot the mama's fire. One of their spicier poke's. Oh my! So good and perfect level of heat. My wife got the shoyu poke bowl and loved it too. The ginger fried chicken is worth getting too. Loved it. Great place!

They are reopening on Jan 18, 2026.

The ice cream, thankfully, was worth crossing state lines for. My kids predictably ordered something bright blue - Cookie Monster and another flavor that could only have been invented by either a six-year-old or a marketing genius. Whoever came up with those flavors is probably laughing all the way to the bank. I went with mint chocolate chip and toasted coconut topped with hot fudge, and it was absolutely fantastic. Rich, creamy, and exactly what vacation ice cream should be. The only reason this isn't five stars was the service. Let's just say the welcome felt a little more "Who sent you?" than "Aloha." Maybe we accidentally wandered into a locals-only witness protection program. Hard to say. Still, the ice cream was so good I'd happily endure another soul-piercing stare for a second scoop.

It's incredible and the most delicious homemade Filipino bun ever! My kids were also incredulous of how wonderful it tasted. It's a pleasure supporting this local small business. It will definitely be a place we'll return to over and over again during future visit to Kauai! Highly recommend! There were many locals who came too! The lovely owner grandma said they've changed the name of the restaurant, because she's handed it down to her son and he'll run the business. I should've got a dozen. This place is a small Filipino bakery and turo-turo joint on Rice Street in Lihue in between Rob's Good Times Grill and the bowling alley. The Tita that helped us was friendly and I was going to get a bag of their homemade chicharon but decided against it. She laughed when I changed my mind. They have some vegetables for sale scattered about the small retail space out front. But the main draw is their baked goods and their hot food to-go. I saw everything from biko (sticky rice dessert), musubis, empanadas, suman (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf) for baked and packaged goods. Then they had pancit, dinuguan, fried fish and pork adobo. There were several other offerings that I cannot recall. Pan de sal was 3 for $1 or a dozen for $4. Gotta get the dozen. Parking is in the share lot right out front or street parking along Rice if the plaza is packed.

The place I went to was outside, on the side of the road, not inside a structure, so I guess I posted in the wrong place. Anyway, this was my experience, & it was really disappointing... & I had no time to say anything about it in person, because I was on a time limit & busy running errands that day. Here's the thing... I'd been following them on IG for AWHILE, so the interest was built up enough to want to give them a try, & because I was headed that direction anyway, I figured, "why not?"... However, I don't know if the girl (the light skinned brunette with the big smile that's in a lot of their IG content) was just having a bad day & ready to leave work or what - it was dead when I got there, except for the small family at the table - but this was one of the WORST smoothies I've ever had! Consistency & flavor wise... like when you expect something, because it's in the name & you don't get that at all? Really weird. I don't make a habit of just leaving negative reviews, but my reviews generally ARE very thorough & well rounded - but it doesn't necessarily make me look forward to any future quality from them, if this is what I got from this place; a super watery "smoothie" that didn't taste like strawberry AT. ALL. Considering it's got that pink color, you would expect a certain flavor, right? NOPE... & I literally sat in my car for a minute before driving off, taking a couple sips, just to make SURE I was getting the TASTE right. All I could come to conclusions about flavor-wise, was what tasted strongly of vanilla protein powder - that was the prominent flavor ie obvious "top note" at least - & nut milk... & I've had enough drinks & SMOOTHIES with vanilla protein powder, to know the flavor is consistent among most protein powder brands. Not even a HINT of strawberry flavor. Strange. Bummer. They were already out of donuts before 10AM, so I can't even counter this with, "well, at least the donuts were awesome"... I came for one thing initially - donuts - & what I DID end up getting, didn't even make the mark. Not sure I will be back, but ladies, for future reference; a SMOOTHIE should be a THICK consistency, NOT runny, like water. I'm guessing there was more ice to product ratio, thus the COLD LIQUID DRINK that I got & what I paid for it, was just NOT it.
