When my hotel blow dryer bit the dust two hours before my parents' 50th anniversary party, Kenneth's rode in on the white stallion and saved me from flat hair...sort of. A panicked call to their appointment line granted me an appointment just 10 minutes out, and on arrival, the cheery receptionists welcomed me with forms repeating the info I'd just given on the phone. And then I waited. And waited. And waited some more. I stared at the serene wall of products and corporate coffee setup for a while. After 25 precious minutes of waiting, I finally approached the desk, only to be told there had been a change, and I'd be going back in a minute. It was not so cheery. I reminded them of my tight time frame, then sat down and waited. Again. My stylist finally appeared, brought me to her chair, and asked how I wanted my hair styled. I explained it was freshly cut (4 days before) and freshly washed and conditioned (2 hours before) and I needed a blowout and product to jack it up, give it height and movement. Told her the products my stylist used to achieve success, told her where my surprise cowlicks were, and that mousse was a complete waste in my stubborn and coarse hair. After a quick shampoo, she told me she would dry it and then let me style it myself. Um, what? I told her that SHE was the pro and she could style it. After she loaded it with mousse and half dried it, I realized I had been silly. She added product, teased a little, curled a little, sprayed a little, and voila! I had a hairdo, but somehow she had managed to make my wispy razored cut look blunt and helmet like. My cowlicks were pointy. I scrunched a little while she asked if it was okay, wondering if I had enough time to dress and do my makeup when I got back to the hotel. Yes, I told her, it's okay. Meaning, okay, as in, just barely, as in, I don't want to roar like an angry dragon, as in, all that waiting time is now gone and this hideous old lady look is now it, okay? Trotted out to the desk to pay, added a basic tip, and roared away in my rented coach, patting the solid mass as I drove. On arrival at the hotel, I told my husband I'd just had my hair done. You did? He asked, stunned. Yeah. It was THAT BAD. but it was party time, so off we went. I can't WAIT to see those pictures. Years ago, Kenneth's had a great reputation, and their salons give the image that they've kept up with the times. This stylist, not so much. This salon, even less. One of the things that especially irked me was that coffee setup. Clients were told to help themselves. On the far less fancy salon where I normally bring my hair, clients are offered, and then brought, a beverage. A small touch, but one that speaks volumes. Kenneth's, alas, was not my hair's knight in shining armor. If you're contemplating a visit, save yourself and go to another salon. read more

I've been going to this location of Kenneth's for over 5 years. For me, the important factor is finding the right stylist--Talented, with a Personality I get along with. I found that here. I believe that you have to develop a relationship to achieve the results you want. It doesn't happen on the first visit. Going slow--not asking for radical changes until my stylist "knows" my hair and the trust level is there. I love my hair; color and cut AND my stylist! But it didn't happen in one visit. I was thinking of going back to Kenneth's to "give them another shot," but after reading the negative posts--and in regards to the location I was specifically going to try, to boot--I am changing my mind. I, too, had a bad experience with Kenneth's a few years back. The coloring job was good, but the lady rushed me, just as it seems to be a "trend" with most of the stylists. I suspect the company pushes the stylists to "show off" how lightning fast they can go. Unfortunately, it's at the expense of the end result, as well as the treatment of the client therein. I, too, had the same problem Vicki posted. My stylist was DIGGING into my head. Even someone with an iron noggin would've been near tears. I almost felt like a flea-laden dog that she was trying to de-louse. It was too much. Most importantly, the cut I had asked for was an angled blunt cut; instead, I received the "bowl on the head and cut around" page boy look. I was not only clear about what I wanted verbally, but I even brought pictures. Plus, the angled blunt cut is quite popular. I am getting married next week, and I will have to find elsewhere to spend the amount they charge, but with better service. For the price they charge, none of these issues should ever arise, but alas, it sounds like a pattern at Kenneth's. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 9:45 on a Saturday. I had taken off work for the day to get my hair done, run errands, etc. I don't have a lot of free time so it's not very convenient for me to make hair appointments. I got there at 9:40 and checked in, and my stylist didn't come get me until 10:05. I went back with her and showed her what I wanted and gave her a bit of hair history, showed her pictures. She told me that she didn't have enough time to do what I wanted because she only had 45 minutes to do my hair and it would take longer than that. She was very nice about it, and told me that it was because she wanted to do it right and make it look nice, which I appreciate. However, I made an appointment for a service, was there on time, and I would expect the stylist to have enough time to perform the service that the client booked. I don't know if this is her fault or a Kenneth's flaw, but it was a huge waste of my time. I was pressured into taking an appointment three weeks out from my original appointment. I wasted the drive and taking off work and everything to be told that they couldn't do anything for me. Incredibly disappointing and inconsiderate of client's time. read more

I first went to David at Avery a year ago to get my extensions removed. He was great. The fastest removal I've had yet. I also had a consultation for getting extensions put in by him. I told him I wanted to wait until Fall, and he was still very informative and patient, going through the types of hair and various lengths, etc. I ended up not making it back to him for a year. He welcomed me back like it was last week, and went over everything again. We got the hair ordered, and appointment scheduled and also scheduled a color for the day before. Both appointments were awesome. David is so personable, knowledgeable and fun. He really knows his extensions and this is the best set I have had (and I've been getting them for YEARS). No one can tell I have extensions, which is the whole point :) From the team at the front desk, to David and even the numerous stylists who complimented my hair after we were done, my experience was 100% amazing. The service is good, hair stylist are talented but the reception area staff are racist. I have been going to Dublin Ohio branch since past few times and I am always happy with the service, but past two time the girls on the reception counter I noticed act and behave differently with me compared to other "white" customers. I haven't been to other branches so I am not sure if that's the overall company culture but at the Dublin branch you can definitely feel it. Till today it was subtle but the receptionist - Jessica (one of the chubbiest receptionist at this branch) was extremely rude and obviously condescending to me. To other customer she asked "would you like something to drink, how was the service" etc. To me she said, total is this, if that's all then you are all set! I saw her address two more people before me but and one after me while I was walking out and I could see the way she behaved with me and with others. I had similar experience last two times but I figured it's just the one receptionist. This time when she handed me the product I got she didn't even had the courtesy to ask for a bag to carry that. Extremely rude, I am never going to this branch. If you are people of color or white people who care about such issues, I will request you to stop going to this branch and do not encourage such behavior. No complain with my hair cut tough although I felt horrible leaving there and almost cried when she rudely handed me my product without a bag and said that will be all. read more

In my mind, when a woman goes to a Day Spa or Hair Salon, it should be a relaxing stress-free experience. From what I have read in the reviews of Kenneth's Salons, people are having the same experiences I have had across multiple locations. Here is my "Little Shop of Horrors" story for the Kenneth's at the Dublin location. I had been going to this location for a while and enjoyed my stylist. She was nice, seemed experienced and I never had any problems. (I get my hair highlighted or colored and cut. Sometimes, I use the spa services.) My stylist quit about a year ago (that should have told me something). Since then, I have bounced around to different stylists there trying to find one that fits with me and what I want. The first stylist I went to was okay. She had short, dark hair. The only thing I didn't like is that she kept trying to convince me to go with short, dark hair. (I have long blonde hair). I don't want to have to fight with my stylist about my cut, etc. I have tried short, dark, even black hair. I'm comfortable with my style now. This stylist wasn't available when I went to make an appointment so I tried another. She told me she had just recently gotten out of retail (and already she was a Master stylist there!) She was nice and talkative, but when I got home my highlighted hair had huge odd chunks of dark color in it. It looked like I had done it myself. Next stylist by default was the last and probably the worst experience I have had there. I even gave her several chances. This last time I said, "I've had enough! Why am I doing this to myself?" A few things that happened in past visits and then I will tell you the straw that broke the camel's back. By the way, the stylist is Victoria (proceed with caution). She always seems to be running late, so it always feels as if she is rushing through doing your hair. She has banged my head with the hairdryer, cut her finger with scissors (because she was going so fast) bleeding everywhere, burned my scalp with bleach and more. Why did you go back, you ask? Well, I felt bad for her about the cut finger and when I told her that my scalp felt blistered. She told me it was probably because I was on my period and it was just a fluke. That happens to other people she said (even though I just read online those cases are very rare). She said if I had taken off the color, she wouldn't have known what to do and my hair color would have been orange. Doesn't sound like much of a choice to me. After I got home, I was picking dead skin and scabs out of my hair for weeks. That should have been enough. I'm too trusting and forgiving I guess. I thought it was a fluke since I had NEVER had problems getting my hair colored before. I waited a little longer to go back the next time. This time was so horrific, I won't be back. Again, she was late. Again, she rushed. I had to stand to get my haircut. When she wanted me to turn my head left or right, she told me but she also yanked it with her hands trying to push it farther than it wanted to go. When I was sitting under the dryer, I was in pain (no period this time). What do I do? Have orange hair or maybe this will be over soon. It usually tingles but not like that did. I watched her cut a guy's hair when I was under the dryer and she was much more friendly and seemingly gentle. Maybe she should stick to guy's hair. When she finally came to get the color off and (I thought) relief was coming with a shampoo. She dug her fingernails into my already singed scalp and began to scratch it like you would scratch a dog's back. Not massage, scratch...digging her fingernails into my scalp. I should have left right then, but I didn't want to cause I scene ("Smile and wave, Boys") and I think I was in shock and disbelief. She got water all down my back. Not a little. The whole back of my shirt was soaked. She began to brush my hair to dry it and this wasn't a gentle process either. She bumped my head and dug the brush strands into my head, yanking on my hair. It was horrific! I walked out of there emotionally spent and with a wet back. I'm done. Really? My head was oozing, blistered and again I had to pick dry skin from my scalp and it was far worse than the first time. I would rather go to the dentist and have a root canal than go through this a third time. The prices there are a bit hefty for that kind of treatment. I should have brought all of this up to her but when I had told her about my scalp being singed before, she offered no solutions and made me feel like it was not her fault and she just couldn't understand it. In all of my MANY years of getting my hair highlighted/colored, I have never had my scalp burnt or had any uncomfortable experiences at all. This was, by far, one of the worst hair experiences of my life! The only redeeming quality of this day spa are the receptionists...always smiling, friendly and polite. read more

I was a bit disappointed. It's just that when you put a product up to another of equal cost, you can definitely judge the value of a dollar. For a $35 men's haircut, I would expect to not be in and out in 15 minutes only to find missed hairs later that day. Come on...I'm a guy and even I can tell when I've had better salon experiences for the same price. Even take away the massages and conditioning and extras that other "high-end" salons offer and I will be fine. But charge me $35 and not even trim my neck??? I would probably give three or four stars if I received this experience at your typical mall/strip mall, family haircuttery. read more

I moved to the Columbus, Ohio area over 20 years ago from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. I would drive back to Michigan every 6 weeks to get my hair colored and cut by a salon that was rated one of the top 200 salons in America. I wanted to have my hair cut in Columbus, but I never saw a haircut on anyone that I would ask where they had it done at. That all changed recently, my son was having his hair cut by Becki at Kenneths in Dublin and he suggested I try Becki, he was sure I would love her and her haircut. I made an appointment with Becki and was a little apprehensive at the time I arrived for my appointment and was immediately seated in Becki's station, she took time with me making sure I was satisfied and she was very confident in her talent. At this point, I told her to do what she wanted as I knew I wouldn't be disappointed by whatever she did The end result was amazing, gone are my trips to Michigan, in my opinion, Becki is the best and I will go to her forever! read more

In short: rushed. I arrived on time but was called about 10 minutes late. My stylist was nice and listened to me. I look forward to getting my hair shampooed at a nice salon but this was more like an "I sooo overslept, let's get in & out the shower asap!!'" kind of wash. Back to the chair - the stylist combed my hair and started cutting off big pieces of hair at a time without much checking for precision. I'm usually super trusting of stylists but I had a moment where I asked myself, "should I stop this now and go somewhere else?!?" I decided to stay put, as there wasn't a whole lot more to cut. She blow dried, and I was off. I think cuts without color are booked in 45 min increments. Since my stylist was 10 min late to get me, I got 35 min. My haircut was fine, but my experience was far more like Supercuts than a true spa salon. Thanks but no thanks - I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

My regular hair stylist is on maternal leave so I decided to go to Kenneth's. Everyone was very kind. My stylist was actually ON TIME, that's something I'm gonna talk to my regular stylist about. The Haircut was great, but the front desk was so incredibly rude to me for being told information that was incorrect. They then proceeded to do very little about the problem, spoke to me as if I was a toddler, and refused to show an interest in rectifying a situation that was a fault of their own. I have been going to see Kristi at Kenneth's Hair Salon for about two years. I like to bring in a picture, as I don't feel I can express how I want my cut (and I will bring in a new picture each visit, as I like to change things up each time). Kristi always takes the time to review my picture, discuss the cut and gives me advice while cutting/blow drying. She has never given me a bad haircut! I have even made an appointment for my daughter to have Kristi cut her hair (as she is moving away from Sweet & Sassy). David, a master stylist with 27 years of experience at Kenneth's in Dublin is OUTSTANDING. Five stars is insufficient. He gets 10. I came in having never seen him before for help with botched hair extensions. He listened attentively. He tried to salvage what another stylist from another salon (not Kenneth's) had put in. He graciously offered all options to me before we decided to take them out and thank God we did - we even tried a couple of them. I HIGHLY recommend him. I know this posting is late, but I still wanted to review. I went to Kenneth's on 04/08/14 and asked for a simple shaping and trim of my short, curly hair. I also told the stylist, Meghan, that I was new to town and was looking for a permanent stylist. Not only did she cut my hair incorrectly (and by incorrectly, she left two sections of my hair longer than the rest to where my husband noticed) but she sent me out the door with a wet head after charging me over $40! I called to complain and was sent to a different Kenneth's Hair Salon. The stylist there confirmed that two sections of my hair were left untouched. I never got an apology from Meghan. I also complained to corporate over Email about the cost and service. They said that since they "fixed" my hair for free, that was their service guarantee. Well Tanya from corporate, it WASN'T "free" as it cost me time and gas money. Again, no apology, no gift certificate, no nothing for receiving what appeared to be a rushed and incomplete haircut. Maybe it's because I have short hair - she just didn't seem to care about doing what I paid and trusted her to do. I've since had two haircuts from Trenz in Old Hilliard. Susan charges me $30 and gives me not just a good haircut, but a great haircut. read more

I have gone to this Kenneth's location for many years- started to patronize the location shortly after it opened. I have been through a few stylists over this time, but have found an absolute jewel in Brittany Lovejoy. She always runs ahead of time, gives wonderful haircuts, and is a color expert. She is also very knowledgeable on Kenneth's product offerings and I rely on her to tell me what would work best for both me and my hair. (She has even made product recommendations for my Mom who lives states away just by listening to her hair type, styling challenges, desired outcome, and likes / dislikes.) I wish this location offered expanded spa services because I would certainly use them for this need too. For me this is a great and convenient location to receive quality haircuts and color services. read more

I have been going to Kenneth's for over 8 years now and have been seeing Kayleigh for the past 6 years. I can't imagine going to anyone else for all of my hair needs. Over the years, Kayleigh and I have been through it all - layers, bangs, color, up-dos...you name it! Now when I come back, she knows exactly what I like but also is great at getting me to go outside of my "box" and try something new without ever steering me wrong. She is patient, friendly, doesn't push me to buy extra services or products I don't actually need, a good listener (she actually remembered a conversation we'd had 5-6 weeks earlier during an appointment and asked about it at my next visit), and seems to genuinely want me to be happy with my hairstyle. I have been going to the Dublin salon for a year or so. When I got my first short haircut, it was great. I loved it. The second cut was good too. But my most recent cut was not good so I went back several days letter to have it "fixed". It is now awful! I hate even looking in the mirror. I would have thought the stylist would have something written on my chart detailing how I like my hair. I know they have a chart that tells what my color combo is, why not something that tells how she cut the hair the time previous? I tried to explain how I wanted it, even mentioned that she had done a razor cut before, but she didn't do it this last time. I am no pinnacle or fashion or hair style but when you pay an outrageous price for a cut & color you would think it would be consistent. I do not plan to have my hair cut for a long time and when I do it won't be there! read more

Just before we got married fifteen years ago, my wife introduced me to David Fletcher at Kenneth's, and I've been going back to him ever since. The few times he was unavailable (probably on vacation at the beach!) and someone else had to cut my hair, it was never quite as good. My hair grows in lots of different directions, and I have it cut medium length for a man, so it can be a challenge. David's a total pro, a great guy, and after all this time I consider him a good friend. I highly recommend David for all of your hair styling needs! read more

I am very happy with my recent visits to this Kenneth's. I have been greeted by the very friendly associates working the front counter. Each time they ask me if they can get me a drink while I wait for my appointment. The wait is never long and My stylist is always on time! I have always been one to jump from stylist to stylist depending on price and availability. But ever since I got Drew as a stylist, I will not change! She is so fun and personable and at the same time she is very professional and talented. She has cut my hair to a few different styles and even dyed it a few different colors and I have yet to dislike anything she has done! I could not ask for anything more! read more

Hi This sunday I visited Kenneth's hair salon for very first time and received keratin hair straightening treatment which cost like $300. I had prior consultation with the stylist and she guaranteed that my hair would be sleek straight for at least 4 months after the treatment and I would never have to use hair straighter a lot. She also sold me keratin products that costs like $150 and asked me to use them on my hair and to wash my hai with their special shampoo and conditioner. I followed her directions and when i washed my hair for first time and blow dried I noticed that it was no where near straight and I have to use hair straightener all over my hair again to straighten it. Plus, I also recently learned that they use formaldehyde in the keratin treatment and products and also found that exposure to formaldehyde cause cancer in humans. I would not recommend this salon to anyone as they do not disclose the truth about their products or treatments! Even if you end up going here PLEASE DO NOT GET KERRATIN HAIR treatment as it has zero results and is unsafe for your health! - BK read more

I'm giving Kenneth's a 5 starts because Of Renee she is the girl that it's being waxing me for a long time since she was in Hilliard location , and when I found out she got transfer to Dublin (like 3 mins from my house) I was so excited, she is one of the best estheticians that I ever had, with her my Brazilian wax is painless, timeless and stress less. The bed is super comfy that during my pregnancy she made the process so easy. Place is clean and with relaxing music also. Other places may be cheaper, but you don't get the same service as the one provided by Renee, trust me , I'm a really picky customer and she is so far the best and with great personality. FYI : I will not do my hair there, because previous experiences, but I will go just for the waxing. read more
