Kenny's Locksmiths is fabulous. I attempted to give my original front door a makeover and pulled apart the locking system. After destroying most of the lock it was clear that this was not an ordinary lock and that I was in over my head. The door was original to the house (circa1928) and the lock was original to the door and almost irreplaceable. No standard lock would fit the door. Called Kenny's and they sent Liam out that day! He reviewed the situation, which was dire because I had no front door lock. The problem was that the original lock was so old and hard to find that it would be very expensive to replace. Liam was great! He made sure that I had a secure deadbolt on the door temporarily while he took the antique lock with him to figure out "the puzzle". Three days later he came back and had rebuilt the lock with other parts. Installed within a few minutes - with new brass fittings (which was my original intent) and everything works wonderful. Great experience with Kenny's Lock! I went in on a Tuesday afternoon to get a lock re-keyed. They were able to do it right away. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. Rekeying the lock + 4 keys cost about $21 - much cheaper than going to Home Depot. Highly recommended!! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst experience ever. I had an appointment scheduled to put new commercial locks on my storefront business. I took the initiative to personally go into Kenny's Lock the day before the appointment to go over my opinions and show them pictures of the door and to get a quote. They advise me I should get a lock that was $250+ (because it wouldn't break and cheaper locks would break over time). They quoted me $400+ With labor and material. The day of the appointment the locksmith asked me to send him pics of the door to get an idea of what was going on before he got there (since he was 30-45 minutes out). He texted me he was 15 minutes away but actually took 30-40 minutes to get there. Once he gets there he takes about 10-15 minutes to talk to me about the door and grab what he needed from his work van. He sent 2 hours trying to put the lock on. There was no holes in the door prior to him touching it. He drilled several holes and after two hours he advise me I shouldn't be putting that lock on the door if I wasn't going to buzz people in. So he convinced me to put a $79 lock and told me it would be a better option. I believe this was because he was having difficulties putting the original lock on and wanted an easier option and he didn't want to spend more time trying to figure it out. So he spends another hour or so putting the cheaper lock and latch on. He ends up putting it on crooked and blamed it on the door. I was not satisfied with the look or the workmanship of the lock and the latch. He couldn't even put the right nails in. So once he was done he called his boss to get a total and they advise me it would me $480+. At this point I advise him I wasn't going to pay that. Unfortunately I shouldn't be charged for 3+ hours of labor for something the locksmith should of realize he couldn't do from the start. Once he called his his, his boss disrespected me by telling me he didn't have all day to hear a story. I told him I was going to go to the store and he advise me he didn't want to speak to me in person and that he don't want me in his business because he was going to a meeting. He was rude and disrespectful and I couldn't believe I was being spoken to like that. I told him I wouldn't pay for anything until I spoke to someone in person. He started yelling on the phone and telling his employee to take the locks off and hung up. A minute later he calls the employee and told him to leave the locks on and just leave. The employee was shocked that his boss was talking to me like that and calling back and hanging up. I would NEVER recommend them. As a business owner I have never been disrespected in my life like this. The employees that work in the store were apologetic about what happen since they met me in person and didn't know why their boss escalated that way. The boss never personally called me to apologize or rectify the situation. I shouldn't be treated like that and I won't allow anyone to disrespect me. I originally chose them because they had high reviews but me being a business that a couple of doors down from them, I would never recommend them again. I had witnesses that heard him yelling and screaming and belittling me over the phone. They will never get my business again read more

KENNY'S LOCK IS THE BEST EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD WITH CONTRACTED WORK, EVER, HANDS DOWN. I own a rental unit near Field's Corner and had an issue with the back doors swelling and becoming impossible to open/close/lock, especially after this crazy humid summer. My newest tenants hadn't been in there more than a week when one of them ripped the doorknob right off trying to open the door, in a way that you couldn't shut the door again without getting locked out/in, so they had to keep the back door ajar. I needed to find someone fast, so I called Kenny's Lock first thing in the morning and spoke to Greg. Anyone who's a young woman in Boston knows how easily you can get talked down to when inquiring about contracting work, but Greg picked up on the second ring, was patient and thorough in his explanations of what the work might cost, the types of locks they were able to provide, and how long the job might take. He was able to get someone out to the place that day, within hours, and have them call me 30 minutes out. ALSO, I suck and was running late from another location and they easily switched my appointment with another one and still saw me within 2 hours of the originally scheduled time. The locksmith Joe and his partner were professional, funny, FAST, and explained/showed me everything they did to fix the two doors, which wasn't just replacing a lock either! These guys adjusted hinges, weather stripping, catch-plates (?), the actual door frames, everything I was worried would veer out of locksmith territory and fall into general contracting work. The price was even cheaper than the initial estimate and beyond reasonable for all that they did. I will be using these guys for every lock related issue I have in the future and can't recommend them enough. Seriously. Thank you so much!!! read more

Called Kenny's Lock in the morning and needed them to replace a lock which I had purchased and tried to do myself, without success. They were able to come out mid morning and the tech Ron was very nice and friendly and he knew his stuff. I did call around and Kenny's Lock was the lowest price in the Dorchester area.
