Went bowling with my sisters. The guy up front was a little put off and I'm not sure why, maybe just had a bad day. Three games plus shoes was $89!!! That seems way over priced. Especially with the setup at this place, nothing hi tech or fancy about this establishment so I'm not sure why the price was so high. My sisters and I regardless had a nice time bowling. Horrible service, our lane was broken the pins would get stuck. Was told we couldn't switch lanes because they were full. The place was half empty. People at the counter were rude and had attitude. It's extremely rare for me to rate a local business a one star review, however this is one is those times where it warrants it. My friend called in about the birthday package (I remember him on the phone asking about it and providing his payment information) and was charged. Unfortunately we did make it on the day of the reservation, however at least they let him use it for another day. That is the only positive note I can provide. So why the one star review? The birthday package was supposed to include food and shoes. When he asked about the shoes they stated, "no we only charged you for the one hour of bowling check your receipt." However he specifically asked about it on the phone and thought he was purchasing their package. Not his fault they didn't understand that. Even if it's a miscommunication then at least try to offer it and ask if we want to pay the difference. That would have been fine. Instead the staff just didn't care at all about service and just rude about it. They also do not support their local sports team. That is insane! Apparently if you wear a Seahawks jersey you get a free fountain soda (pennies on the dollar) I was wearing my Seattle Mariners jersey and asked if that would be ok. They said no and it must be a football jersey. This is the day after the M's historic playoff run of beating the Detroit Tigers to make it to the ALCS. You would think a local business would be more than happy to accomodate a simple request and cheer on their local sports team. That was not the case. Again , a sign of just not caring about customer service. Not only that, the chicken wings were unevenly cooked with some still cold and some hot. They didn't deep fry it correctly. I have also never been to a bowling alley that charges $1 a cup for tap ice water. As for the lanes they were not oiled and well kept. Place presents their own business as a dying cheapskate business. Either they want to nickle and dime everyone along with terrible service or trying everything they can to file bankruptcy protection at this point because that just don't care about their community who is trying to support them. Been to this bowling place a couple of times now. Prices are very reasonable, $5.95 a person per game, $5.25 for the shoe rentals a person. It is a pretty old business establishment, with bowling balls, shoes, pins and lanes all worn out for the most part. The electronic machines look like they are from 1980's and the video graphics look old as heck, too! Pros: Good price! Close vicinity to where we live. Very good customer service. Employees are helpful. Cons: The café opens way too late! We arrived at 12:30 PM and were there until 2:30 PM on a frickin' Saturday and they were still closed! Couldn't get any drinks or food to munch on. Parking lot can get full when it's busy and crowded. Restrooms are old and rarely seems to be cleaned on a regular basis. Really great experience at this bowling alley. The man behind the counter was friendly and efficient. It's definitely an older bowling alley but the prices are a little less expensive and even on a Friday afternoon we had no wait for a lane. Shoes were in great condition, balls were definitely scraped up. The sampler from the kitchen has a lot of delicious fried food but costs $17. Fountain Pepsi was a good tasty mix. We bowl here, as a family, almost every week. One of the attendants is super nice and always helpful, so we always attempt to work with him. The alley is older and we run into some delays of game due to the ball returns not working but other than that, the lanes are great. Generally a decent bowling alley, minus the service. Have been casually bowling quite a bit the past few months, and have visited several bowling alleys as a result. Was unimpressed with this one - here's why: - the staff at the counter really don't want to be there - the shoe soles seemed especially slippery - the price is on the high end for the location compared others I've visited recently - our lane malfunctioned multiple times (resetting too few pins or not resetting at all), so we had to ask the front counter multiple times to get it fixed. Eventually, we gave up and bowled even when the pins were set incorrectly, until the sweep bar got stuck lowered. Finally, we went to the counter for the fourth time, and the attendant rolled his eyes, looked bothered that we kept approaching him, and said "I know I'm sending my actual mechanic to fix it." -- if you had a qualified mechanic on call, why not send them the first or second time it fails, rather than messing up our game and wasting both of our time? read more

Old school bowling alley. Doesn't look like it's been updated in years, everything is feels homey but still clean. During covid all the balls are kept behind the desk. While getting your shoes you are able to try out the ball you want as well. Only two people are permitted per lane and no spectators. Your names are automatically entered in the system. I'm guessing so that it minimizes contact. Just leave your balls there once done and they will be taken and sanitized. When you get to the front desk you sign up for a membership if you've never been there before. Your info is taken and you're given a card to show upon arrival from then on. The shoe rentals and games were fairy inexpensive. Came on a Sunday in the early afternoon and it wasn't too busy. Will be back soon. read more

Definitely won't be back to this bowling alley. I pride myself on fair reviews and it takes a lot for me to write a bad one. We came here for a birthday party and wanted some drinks. A few of us went off for drinks but the bartender Debbie was the absolute worst. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a great experience but we ordered anyway. She was the only one in the space but made sure that customers at the window were a priority. She'd been making snarky remarks since we walked in but we ignored it anyway because all of us just wanted to enjoy ourselves. Two of us walked in first and got drinks then as more of our party walked in she became less and less engaged. I hate to pull the race card because it's not always the case but this felt intentional. It's standard to ask for ID and then take an order. She asked for ID WITHOUT a drink order after. Told one of our family members that their order wasn't that important because she saw them taste one of our drinks. She said that was him drinking. He ordered a shot and still at least three to four people were served ahead of him. She walked off several times as we were ordering or speaking directly to us and even stated to us that the birthday party after us was priority. She claimed we were rude when we ignored her behavior then when we addressed that we had been ignored for over twenty minutes she called us rude and told us we were done which was her refusal of service. She also continued to tell us that this wasn't her first rodeo when she could not make majority of the drinks that we asked for. It really put a damper on the experience as we did not feel welcomed from the start. I do not recommend or maybe just this particular bartender as the experience may be different. A bowler's bowling alley, as opposed to a spendy entertainment center that has bowling. They're open insanely late for weeknights. Lane rental fees seem to be better than the older reviews, I was really happy at the reasonable costs but I'm used to the prices up at Tukwila/Seattle. I will keep driving down for nice late bowling evenings. Being able to dip in and get my 3 practice games in for not that much is nice. Their beer and food is reasonably priced. Rock n bowl is great at the other places, but sometimes you just want to chill and bowl. Th e bottling was fun and alittlw cheaper then most higher end ally's. But. The food situation concerned me. I already ate my food. As I was in line for a drink, I notice the lady preparing food had no gloves on with multiple rings on. As well as handling the round buzzers that go off when food is ready then straight to handing food. I have a video I can't uploais just of chips being handled with no gloves. I didn't get the frozen chicken nuggets she was handling. Don't recommend food here. Bowling is fun though. Also no seat covers or sanitary trash bins inside restroom?? The staff were nice to me. Was looking for an activity between baseball games during a tournament... We tried all of the modern and newer bowling alleys near the WestField South Center mall but there was over two hour wait. We remember vaguely that we had passed an older bowling alley on the way to a baseball field in Kent.... so we decided to stop. Out front it says the business has been serving since 1958 - Let's just say it still smelled like 1958 and there has been no updates to the building since then . Cheap game and shoe rentals but I have to say the ambience was less than desired. Staff at the desk had zero personality ... Well kept lanes and working machines... Norm at the proshop is awesome! I know the prices for equipment here isnt the cheapest (versus online) but its good to support local. I purchased a custom ball and shoes there and with the help of Norm with a few pointers my game elevated by a solid 45 pin average. I have yet been to another alley that takes the time to do that let alone care for their lanes the way kent bowl does. Ive only bowled here a few times but i most lilely will be frequenting here a lot more and maybe take part in a few leagues and competitions! read more

Want to give this place a Zero star but there is no such option. It is not a good place inside and outside. Was there for a group event and had a horrible 2 hours. Extremely rude workers, especially the woman who stands in the food area. Talked to the manager about her rudeness, not sure if he is going to talk to her about it. It's an inner expensive way to spend time with your family. Cheaper than the other bowling alleys in the area. Acme is probably 5 to 10 times more expensive than Kent bowl. It's been in Kent for as long as I can remember since I was a teenager. Been in here a few times with the family and I think we spent less than 30 bucks on four of us playing a few games. Kent Bowl is from the good ol' OL' ol' days and moving forward in the 21st century. Most of the facility is pretty original to its roots or old school updates. I was told the only "updates" they made recently were upgrading to synthetic lanes and new scoring systems. That is it. And call me a nerd, but I also liked the metal slanted beams for the ball return rack. They don't have weekend morning specials. With that said, I hope they endure, because these places don't last around the Puget Sound area. My parents bowled leagues here when I was a kid... Now I bowl leagues here! I wish they'd do Cosmic Bowl on weekends and would stay open later... But they do have two great guys in the Pro-Shop (Norm and Dan) that are knowledgeable and are willing to help you! Would like to see the Pro-Shop start accepting Credit Cards because hitting up the cash machine and getting hit with the $2 fee sucks... hopefully someday! Also would love to see more merchandise and less league bowlers bags sitting in the shop. They recently put in new seafoam green seats and flat screen monitors! They have a cool texting program where you can get a free game and usually have some cool deal where you can win discounts (seems random so check the signs posted around the front desk). My favorite is the $2.50 per game price on Sundays between 9a and Noon (be in before 11:45a to get the deal though. Even if you bowl past noon and you're in before 11:45a, they'll honor the price!) They do have some arcade games, not many as I'd have if it were my place but enough to occupy kids for a little while. Junk Food Junction is great for bar food but if you want a real meal, don't eat here. The vending machines are way expensive so I suggest hitting up the Junk Food Junction for your beverage needs. I rarely have issues with my bowling lane or monitor. Wish they'd turn up the sound on the televisions during the Football games on Sundays or at least have music playing... Lanes aren't too heavily oiled and are well taken care of. First 7 or 10 lanes are still Wood while the rest are synthetic. I've seen them oil the lanes every Sunday right before their Sunday leagues. Dunno if they do it once a week or every day but I love the lanes! All in all could use a few tune ups but this is my FAVORITE place to bowl!!! read more

I brought my family to bowl here for something to do on a rainy Saturday. The place was mostly empty except for a party at one end. The attendant put us right next to the party I'm assuming because they had a tournament or something later. So right off the bat we were crowded and didn't really need to be, we only bowled one game and were done before the tournament even started. I asked the attendant if he could put up the bumpers for my kids but he said no. He didn't give a reason. I asked him for one of the ramp things for my daughter to use but he said no and explained they belonged to the parks department (?) and he could only bring them out for special occasions... Eventually a kid working came over and put them up for us (thank you!) I went to order some chicken fingers for my daughter and waited about 30 minutes for one order. About 20 minutes in I got up to check on my order in case I missed her calling it out. She put her hand in my face and told me I ordered "10 things" ( I didn't) and she was the only one there. I went back to the table to wait. Eventually she brought out a basket of burnt chicken fingers. I don't recommend this place. The people were not helpful and rude. read more

Family owned joint, rich in traditions.....the bottom line is they care about their customers and the quality of the bowling. It's an original gangsta of the area. I highly recommend. Best bowling alley in a 100 mile radius, if not more. Their leagues are a lot of fun. Also the bar inside the alley, Passports pub, is a truly unique experience. Kent Bowl has been around for many years and has never been a "top grade" set of lanes. The food service leaves something to be desired. The mozzarella sticks were bland and fries were soaked in grease! More frustrating was the $10 minimum to order with a debit or credit card! The pricing here is outrageous. It is $5.25 a game...that is consistent with Acme Bowl 10 minutes away that has cleaner, newer, has music, lights and much friendly up to date atmosphere. The lanes them selves are dated with several lanes having boards sticking up changing the path of the ball. After this last visit we will not be going to or recommending Kent Bowl anymore. read more

Look. I love bowling and I prefer older alleys to the high tech Acme bowling alleys of the world but Kent bowl needs a serious update. Cons: -I feel like the guy who works at the front desk is always pissed that anyone bothers to come bowl. What should be a fun family outing becomes an awkward encounter of blank stares and eye rolls. It seems to be contagious now because the gal at the counter had the same effect. No one appears to want to be there and it is obvious. -It smells. I know, I know, bowling alleys have a rep but good gravy it smelled like feet and cat pee and grease. -Everything is old. When you pay for the lane you write your names on a piece of paper and they enter it for you which makes the interaction more awkward somehow. I got a strike but it didn't count it and I had to bowl twice more, if I had wanted to adjust the score correctly I would have had to go to the front to have them fix it when normally you can just adjust it on your screen but there are no screens. It's bare bones, fair warning. -Of the 12 bowling balls we used only 2 or 3 had the weight on them, they were either so worn that it wasn't visible or the markings didn't appear to exist in the first place Pros: -Location, right off the highway, super easy to get to -Price is so-so? We played 1 game, 2 lanes, 10 people (all who needed shoes) and paid $125 so like $12 each? I'm not sure what multiple games would have cost, we usually play 3 but we wanted to leave -The food is usually pretty good and comes out fast. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I want Kent Bowl to improve. We used to practice for league bowling there and it's always been the same. Grumpy service, uncomfortable atmosphere and outdated. I'd rather go to Skyway bowl and my shoes were stolen twice there. read more
