A week or 2 later, I hear a tapping sound from my engine. I spent days trying to figure it out. Come to find out it's my metal oil dipstick tube, tapping on something else metal when the engine is running. I go for my new oil change & mention it.....basically looking for an apology. The first guy without looking at it said it's rusty & happens a lot on these cars. Second guy actually looks at it & says it's metal, we couldn't have broke this. It's a 12yr old expedition that I do the maintenance myself, just not oil changes.....so I know the truck well. Be careful......they'll break something on your car, won't say anything. Before they look at it, says it's rusty. Have another guy look at it & say we couldn't have done this. Everything but an apology & a discounted oil change. I had forgotten about the low tire at this point, but my friend reminded me, so I agreed to rotating my tires. Moments later, Ian showed me that there was a huge screw lodged in my tire! He offered to bring it next door real quick to get plugged - I thanked him and accepted the offer. Another few minutes go by, and Ian comes back with the huge screw, and my fixed tire, and put it back safely on my car. I drive back and forth from East Providence to Newport almost daily, my tire pressure light has been on since I got new tires last spring because I didn't want to pay another 700 bucks for all new tire pressure monitors (terrible, I know), so I have been unknowingly driving dangerously - I'm so thankful for my friend noticing and for Ian offering a rotate, and then to get my tire fixed for me real quick!! Talk about fantastic service!! Thank you so much to Ian for going above and beyond!!

Turns out the tires on the car were a bit old... but in fine condition (minus the leak). I went to the other chain (Townfair) down the road first but they were most unhelpful. At first they wouldn't repair the leak because the tire was too old in their opinion and also could only find 1 replacement tire because the car needed a rare size. Looking for another option I called Sullivan Tire from their parking lot and they immediately began searching for solutions-- they started looking into using a slightly different size tire and if that would work. They were still trying to do this while I drove over and walked in the door. Long story short- Matt figured out we could indeed use a more common size tire than I had originally had and got them installed later in the day. He was also very open and didn't push me into a more expensive tire like some places do. I was able to depart on my cross country road trip on time. Thank you so much Sullivan Tire (and Matt). When I told them that my car DOES accommodate conventional oil changes (nevermind blended synthetic) and then they changed the story - that they do not have blended synthetic oil (they "just ran out" supposedly) and they only have synthetic oil. They also alluded to the fact that they DO NOT ALWAYS HONOR THE COUPON. I'll contact their national corporate office and inform them of what's going on in MIddletown - meantime, I advise you avoid these scammers.
