I was craving a blueberry fritter after trying it for first time in Portland, Oregon. Tried to find somewhere in LA that had it, I guess it's pretty rare around here. Lots of apple fritters, but not much blueberry. They had lemon blueberry fritter. I had to settle for that. I felt the blueberry flavor wasn't that great. Lemon was subtle as well. Portland's was a bit better. Small parking lot available. Wasn't hard to find on a Tuesday late morning. Probably wouldn't come back again, at least for the blueberry fritter. Some of their other doughnuts look not bad. Maybe I'll check it out if im in the area. On to my next store to find a solid blueberry fritter. 3.5/5.

The only standout for me was the maple bar. It has a super light coating of maple glaze, but it is absolutely a perfect balance with the actual donut. Best maple I've ever had. The rest? They were fine. Nothing notable. I have other donut spots I'd go to if I wanted the usuals (Tasty's in Tarzana). The shop can be a little hard to get to during rush hour, since it's next to the 101 on-ramp. Luckily there's a small street in the back connected to a light. The shop is small, really more like a "walk up to the counter, order, then leave" type of space. Don't expect to get coffee and chill. But it's cute in there. Fun black and white tiled theme, which accentuates the color donut variety. If you haven't been here, you gotta try this place. From what I could see, this is a lot of people's guilty pleasure in LA.

tl;dr the best varieties are wholly enjoyable and borderline-great -- but they simply cannot compete with LA's best doughnut-eries in price or sheer satisfaction Compared to many of Los Angeles's most highly rated doughnut shops, Kettle Glazed Doughnuts is a newcomer to the doughnut game. Like its mid-century modern decor, the doughnut philosophy at this North Hollywood shack is a modern take on classic -- the menu features traditional varieties with upscale finishes. The tiny parking lot feels like a game of Tetris. The drab concrete strip mall is a stark contrast to the eye-catching the interior. The long counter is decorated with alternating mint-green sequens and wooden slats. Wide windows let in plenty of natural light, and funky pumpkin-orange globe lights dangle from the cratered ceiling panels. The smell of fried dough dominates the air, and the space is ominously quiet without any music. Whether morning or afternoon, expect a steady trickle of customers. My partner and I have visited a few times, and our favorite doughnut has been the Croissant Style. Notable light and airy, it leaned more on the croissant side of the cronut spectrum. Between ample granulated sugar and a chocolate drizzle, the flavor reminded me a churro. Even though the doughnut was filled unevenly with vanilla pastry cream, I didn't mind; the doughnut itself was just as enjoyable sans cream. But, for all its positives, I still couldn't help wishing for one of the uber-dense, heavily frosted croissant-style rings offered at my favorite LA doughnut-eries. Meanwhile, we also enjoyed Kettle Glazed's rich and delicious Buttermilk Maple Old Fashion. Also good but less exciting was the bialy-shaped Fluffer Nutter. The generous scoop of marshmallow fluff and peanut butter frosting came across as pleasantly rich rather than overwhelmingly sweet, but the doughnut itself was only slightly above average in quality. Lastly, we couldn't stand the Blueberry Lemon Fritter. The large poof ball reminded me of a loaf of white bread; the blueberries were sparsely swirled in; and the lemon-forward glaze clashed with the blueberry bagel-esque base. I found myself picking at the glaze and ditching the bland refuse. Service is friendly and efficient. Most donut varieties run run $2-4, while the specialty cronut costs an eyebrow-raising $5. One of the Kettle Glazed taglines is "Always Fresh", and I'm not quite sure that I would agree; the doughnuts feel a touch old even first thing in the morning. Further, the steep prices, inconvenient location, and otherwise good-not-great selection will keep me from visiting again unless I'm already in the neighborhood.

The donuts are somewhat creative. The parking is there but, it is shared with a few businesses so be patient. When you walk in and look to the right - you see the counter that displays the donuts. It very well organized. They have a few selections - mostly typical. They had a couple that made me take a second look. As I am new to the neighborhood, I dot. Have anything to compare this spot to. But, I like what they're offering here so I'll be back. Make this a quick stop for a tasty sweet treat - muffins, croissants, fritters, donuts, bars, etc.

It's a clean small place with tight parking. The staff were friendly and provided recommendations. We got coffee, donut dots, blueberry lemon fritter and apple fritter! I recently picked up half a dozen donuts from a local shop on the corner of Franklin and Argyle. The donuts are priced at $3 or more each, with a half dozen running you $15. The shop has a nice convenience factor, being open early and staying late, and the dogs are welcomed inside :) I tried a mix of flavors, including the glazed blueberry, glazed with sprinkles, and the cinnamon crunch glazed. The glazed blueberry was the standout--fruity and soft, but the glaze itself felt a bit too sweet and sugary for my taste. The glazed with sprinkles was visually fun, but the donut itself lacked that warm, fresh-out-of-the-oven feel, coming off as a little dry. The cinnamon crunch glazed, while flavorful didn't quite hit the mark in terms of texture--it was crunchy on top but a bit too heavy overall. Taste-wise, I'd rate everything about a 5/10. It wasn't bad by any means, but there was a noticeable lack of that melt-in-your-mouth quality that you'd expect from donuts at this price point. The shop itself could use some improvements as well--there are no restrooms for customers, which is a bit of an inconvenience, but if you're just popping in for a quick donut, it's not a huge deal. Overall, this donut spot is fine for a casual stop if you're in the area!

Kettle Glazed does make some good Doughnuts. A bit out of the way for me, but glad I came by. Got a box a half dozen: Chocolate Peanut, Chocolate Vanilla, Blueberry Lemon, S'Mores, Raspberry Filled, and Crumb. All were winners.

Not worth it. The donuts are of average quality---and if you are looking for vegan donuts -- good luck. They advertise vegan choices but in fact, I've been multiple times, and oddly they are always "out" of vegan choices. All in all, save yourself a trip on this one. read more

I know what getting laid feels like... cause I had a croughnut this morning. I mean hot damn, these things are good. fried croissant dough filled with custard and topped with cinnamon sugar and a chocolate glaze. Oooooo! I was kinda waiting for the custard explosion to push my cheeks out and fill my mouth hot custardy goodness(in fact I and a few others kinda wanted that) but this is a clean pastry. No messes involved. Except when you coldcock your loved one because you ate yours on the way home and a 13 year marriage is just a pile of misery and the croughnut truly loves you more. Little to say, I was back that same night begging for another fiXXX but they was out. So I settled on a croughmuffin, like I settled with my wife. Let me give you guys a word of advice. Don't settle on the croughmuffins in life. Hold out for your one true croughnut. and if they never arrive because you blew your chance on just being your weird self, well then I'll see you at kettle glazed for your sugar fiXXX read more

These are probably the best doughnuts we've ever had. I love old fashioned cake donuts and these are perfect, with the crispy edges and just-right glaze (not too thick or cloying). My son loves the raspberry filled ones that actually have raspberries in the filling rather than corn syrup with red food coloring. My daughter loves the chocolate-glazed raised ones because the glaze has good chocolate flavor and the doughnut is fresh and fluffy. We live in the West Valley but we are sometimes passing through Hollywood and it's a quick detour off the 101 to pick some up on our way somewhere. read more

I am often on the look out for gluten-free treats in my area that I can try. Being allergic to gluten isn't always the easiest but it's nice that places are becoming gluten conscious and providing options for those of us with food limitations. That being said I had heard about Kettle Glazed and was excited to try it. The first time I went I was disappointed to find out that they didn't have any gluten free donuts available that morning, and the man working there seemed like he could care less that they were out. The second time I went the person behind the counter was much more friendly, and even gave me and extra donut (I was purchasing regular donuts for me friends as well), and I bought 2 of the chocolate gluten-free donuts for myself. As soon as a I got home I took a bite of my gluten-free treat, but was very disappointed. This baked good tasted like a strange cupcake baked into the shape of the donut, and the frosting was less than par. Although my friends all love the regular donuts, I will not be returning for the gluten-free donut. read more

I arrived at Kettle Glazed Doughnuts at 7pm closing time, but luckily they were still open. The guy who helped me was very patient, and explained each donut when I asked what it was. I ended up with 7 different donuts. After I was ready to pay for the donuts, he told me to, "take the donuts, cause it was on the house since they were about to close." Wow, I couldn't believe it, and just kept thanking him. I wanted to write a great review about my experience, and their fresh and tasty donuts! read more

These doughnuts are heavenly. We stayed across the street while visiting the area and ate here three mornings in a row because they were SO good! The dough is fluffy and moist and the flavors are delicate and distinct. We kept going back for more! The buttermilk vanilla old fashioned ones and the vanilla bean were my favorite. They have a croissant-muffin hybrid of cinnamon chewiness that was fun to try. Their Boston cream has REAL cream in the middle. The maple long boy was delicious. I wanted to try the s'more but never got to it! The apple fritter is some serious deep fried goodness. There are about 5 parking spots available outside. Indoor seating is limited to three high top tables. The coffee is average, but not what you come for. The service was full of personality and very helpful. I am so jealous of people that live nearby and get to come here often! Oh! And the doughnuts are $1.25 a piece! What! No wonder we kept stuffing our faces. This is a must try!! read more

This place is a revelation. I just ate a s'more doughnut and I cannot describe how delicious it was. The marshmallow filling was homemade!!! Straw please! This is our neighborhood and we loved the old place two owners ago. It was a dump with heart and the same server for 100 years. This new shop is crazy amazing. The logo & name attracted us. On weekends they have gluten-free. So I'll have achey joints tonight. My palate thanks me. We'll be back on the weekend. Bonus- as if there needed to be one- Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to go.I never write reviews but I had to announce my delight. read more

OMG--I don't know how they cook their doughnuts, or what they put in the batter, but I do believe I've found the tastiest doughnut in LA! First off, the doughnuts are soft and chewy. Then the vanilla glaze they use is just right...not dangerously sweet, and not bland/boring. The maple glaze is just as satisfying. I tried their vanilla glazed, blueberry w/maple glazed, and the cinnamon cronut...and all were exceptional. They were so good, that it warrants the higher price of $1.25-$1.50 per regular doughnut, and $3.25 for the cronut. If my waistband would allow it, I'd stop at this place everyday, since it's on my way to work. I even shared a doughnut with a coworker who's also somewhat of a doughnut connossieur, because I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. He had the regular vanilla glazed, and he totally agrees with my assessment. His exact words were, "There's something special going on in that bakery." Special indeed. read more

I can't eat their doughnuts anymore now that I am vegan. But I've heard they do have vegan doughnuts on Wednesdays. But I just wanted to say that the owner of this place is so great and always giving the best he can. Everyone is super friendly and I feel at home when I'm here. Terrible service and to expensive. The didn't say one word to me when I entered. One guy seemed to be more concerned with some people he was hanging out with after waiting for the people in front of me to get their order of 3 dozen together. (90 dollars by the way) I ordered six doughnuts. Never got a receipt and when I got home I starting thinking 13 bucks seems high for six doughnuts. When I went back they had a sign on the 3.75 croughtnut. All the choc feel off with one bite. Even my kids wouldn't eat the doughnuts or what ever they want to call them. Big waste of money. By the way the people after me went to order the guy seemed annoyed they were taking time to order. mind you there was no one else in the store waiting. I guess he is racking in to much dough to be worried about customers. read more

Like, oh my goodness...why didn't I try this place any sooner??? Need a cute birthday dessert for friends and I needed it in the morning. This place showed up on yelp with yummy pictures. I had to come. It is just like the photos. S'Mores are AMAZING, Croissant style plain or chocolate drizzle are so yummy and the cream filling is not too sweet and without an artificial flavor. I am not a huge bacon fan, but I had to try the maple bacon. It was delicous. Apple fritter vanilla bean is an awesome pastry to split amongst friends. I didn't like the blueberry lemon as much as I do with the s'mores and croissant style donuts. Sorry to those who love the blueberry lemon, the texture is fluffy and just the right sweetness, but my taste buds couldn't just love it. I wish they could have all the donuts out early in the morning, so that I can try all of them. I come here almost every weekend morning. read more

love their version of the cronut! it wasn't too sweet and was flaky all over. it wasn't oily at all, either. loved all the cinnamon sugar on it. combined with the flakiness, it tasted like a churro. the custard filling inside as great too. i like that it's right off the freeway but it's pretty far if you live south and the traffic on the southbound 101 is horrible at all hours of the day. wish the place was closer to downtown! read more

Okay, I will NOT STAND BY and let people criticize the service in this place. The people who work here are INSANELY NICE. I live a few blocks from here, and myself or my roommate are in here at least four times a week. I have NEVER had anyone give me any attitude in here. For real, folks. If you caught a bad vibe in here, you must have brought it with you. Never mind that the donuts are to - freaking - die for, the people are the salt of the earth. The owner, the girl from Chicago, the guy who is also a filmmaker - all total sweeties. Thankfully, they are wildly successful and don't have to rely on Internet trolls for their reputation. GO HERE FOR DONUT DAY and any other day. read more

Staff is very friendly and helpful. They asked me my preference on donut for the glaze. The gluten free is an orange batter so I decided to get lemon glaze and chocolate glaze. Unfortunately they were out of chocolate so he told me right away and offered me the other flavors so I got vanilla. They gave me free water while I waited for them to make it fresh. Most of the donuts were fairly gone and they were in the middle of making more for the transition. Many people came in after me missing their favorites. When I finally got them I tried them and just loved them. Overall very worth it for $4 for fresh gluten free donuts. read more

This place is amazing!!!! We were in LA for 5 days and went back twice! I even took a box of 6 home. Loved loved the vanilla bean and also the lemon blueberry. We tried several others and they were all so good. The staff was so great both days we were there. I will definitely be going back the next time I'm in LA! read more

If you are looking for donuts you must go here! We are from out of town and were looking for a donut spot and saw all the amazing reviews so decided to give them a try. WOW!!! Amazing donuts and a huge selection of unique donuts. Love this place, the staff is amazing and they have great coffee! This is worth the stop and their prices are very good. I have got to give you props for having a diverse selection of donuts/cronuts to choose from. Everything here is so tasty and fresh (never stale). The value is just right too. I brought these donuts in for some customers and they loved them!!! I got there early so that I could pick up some of the fun, fancy donuts. They're less expensive then other gourmet donuts I've had before. I highly recommend it, and I'll be back for some for my family!! read more

If you haven't had cronuts before, theirs are okay. I didn't like that all of the chocolate fell off the second you bit into it. I tried a few of their donuts & i'll be coming back for those, but do not get the cruffin. It does not taste good at all. The workers were very friendly, but parking is terrible. read more

The Ridiculous Baking Company, which sets up at various farmers markets, could be the running to start a brick-and-mortar shop. It certainly has the range and variety of products. That said, it's also not that good. I've been coming to them off-and-on for years. Most recently I got the spinach-mushroom hotpocket ($7) and a tempeh bacon hotpocket ($7). The spinach one was merely okay (albeit bland) and the tempeh bacon one was both sour and bland. We threw this one out after a few unappealing bites. The breakfast sandwich ($6) suffers from mealy bread, dry sausage patty and all-around mediocrity. The sugar donut ($3) is basically just a croissant in the shape of a donut. This isn't a bad thing, but don't bite into it expecting a Dunkin' replica (if you want that, go to Donut Friend in Highland Park or California Donuts on Hollywood Blvd). The almond croissant ($4) was superb, though---it's flaky, rich and filled with a wonderful almond paste. All in all, The Ridiculous Baking Company has mediocre products at high prices.

And a piece of butter lettuce, which they also did not eat. I actually ordered the sandwich because it said homemade sourdough. I'm not sure it looks like sandwich bread to me. But overall, the taste was good and I would certainly eat it again. I do think it's a little disappointing that fries don't come with your sandwich. You have to add them on for five dollars. But it's worth the five dollars when you try these french fries. They are everything that In-N-Out wants their french fries to be. Hand cut with skin on. Thin and crispy. They were phenomenal. We went with his recommendation of the roasted butternut squash & I went with the "safe choice" of the 33 Burger plus Fries. The burger and fries were generic and nothing spectacular. I'm not really a fan of Butternut squash except when it's soup but this preparation was DELICIOUS! The squash is coated with a miso dressing before roasting that added an interesting and special flavor. The faro and arugula had a lite refreshing dressing. The place fills up closer to showtime and is only open when a show is playing at the theatre so plan accordingly.

I went to Donut Friend today, and I had to come to Kettle Glazed for a palette-cleansing donut. This place is great. The donuts are fresh and lovely, and they have some creative, grown-up flavors as well as the classics. The croissant-style donut with cinnamon and sugar is kind of like a churro with a custard filling. Very nice! They have good coffee, too, and the service has always been very good. I will say, this is not one of those places where the donuts are gorgeous massive creations. It's a place with delicious, fresh classics and a few surprises. I read the post about Kettle Glazed in LA Weekly. So I had to stop by. There were so many doughnuts to pick from but I had to go for the Smores. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! My son had the apple fritter, he said it was the best he ever had. I was so excited, finally, a great cup of coffee before I get on the 101. The staff was super nice and friendly. The Donuts were great. Loved the Boston Cream Pie, Lemon Blueberry Old Fashioned and the Vanilla Old Fashioned with real vanilla bean. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I had been once before and tried the Lemon Blueberry Fritter, which I LOVED, but this last time it wasn't that great. In hindsight, I think they may have given me a Regular Blueberry Fritter and not a Lemon Blueberry which would explain the difference. I've been to this place many times over the years and its's always yummy and fresh. I usually stop by during my morning walk and it's never jam packed. I walk in and walk out pretty quickly. The place is in a small strip mall and the parking lot can be a bit sketch, but it's Hollywood and it isn't all that bad all things considered. Stayed across the street and decided to give this little donut shop a try. Ordered an old fashion, Boston cream, and a standard glazed. All out of this world, especially the Boston cream.
