The wait for this place was way too long. Unfortunately, there weren't many other options in this area and as we had spent most of the day on the road and were starving, we decided beggars couldn't be choosers. When we were offered bar seating, we leapt at the opportunity. This, too, was a mistake, especially since we were shoved at the far end of the bar, in a corner that was frequently overlooked. We had to flag down a server each time we wanted something. It took at least 20 minutes for them to realize we still didn't have our waters. The night was off to a poor start. We settled on the shrimp scampi and the giant lobster roll for our entrees. The shrimp scampi was disappointing to say the least. It was underseasoned and lacked the garlicky goodness characteristic of this dish. The noodles were fine, but the dish was much too watery and the sauce it came with seemed more souplike than anything else. On the bright side, the giant lobster roll was decent. The roll was stuffed to the brim with mayo-crab mixture. I liked the brioche roll. The fries and coleslaw weren't bad either. If I were to return, I would definitely choose to go out a less popular hour but given the experience I had, a return is unlikely. It would be foolish to think there aren't better lobster rolls in the Cape Cod area with better service. read more

It's so damn good....I realize I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to bars, given my penchant for adult beverages. But this really is the shiznit. Not to mention it is a 10 minute walk from my best friend's parents' summer house and the beach. Such a fun joint - summer folk and locals get along great, and I've never gone there without meeting some new people and having at least one shot or drink bought for me. Nice place. I don't know the history, but I looks like someone converted a single family small house into a bar. Definite local place, but the tourists were treated no differently. I had the KH Burger and it was great. Service was fine. Slow a little at times, but everyone is understaffed. My buddy complained there wasn't enough Mayo on his lobster roll, but if you saw the portions?!?! Wow. Lol. Just get some Mayo on the side. All in all? Great spot. read more

This was my favorite bar/restaurant for many years. They recently got rid of all draft beer, as in removed the taps! If I want a can of beer I'll open it myself at home for way less than they charge. The waitstaff is great, but ownership is out of touch with customers. read more

Great balance of checking on us but not feeling like it is too much. Menu is pub food but everyone liked what they got a perfect for when you want a burger. The "Ho" as locals refer to it, has been an institution in Cotuit and the surrounding area for literally decades. As a kid we went here after swimming lessons. Things were different then, but I have enjoyed watching this place evolve into a wonderful place to relax and dine. Definitely worth checking out. Cotuit is so charming. read more

I love the Kettle-Ho. I've been coming here since I was a child. It used to look like a little diner/ice cream shop and I'd go here to eat breakfast with my grandfather. Later on, it got really bad. (Somewhere around 2004.) I stopped going and that's pretty bad since our vacation house is few houses down. Well folks, the pendulum has swung and the food is good again! Someone fixed the menu and renovated it to look like a local watering hole. THAT is why I like it. It's not pretentious. I don't have to dress up. And I always run into someone I know. What more could you want? I'd like to see more consistency in the food because when it's good, it's great. Also, the walls could use some SWAG. If its going to be a bar I want to see license plates, college representation and other tchotchke compiled from the locals and annual vacationers that support it. read more

Around 7:00p on a summer Friday night, we happened on a spot on the curb in front, which translated to a table for 4 in about 20 minutes. Lucky for me, there is a playground around the corner that kept the toddler engaged while the gentlemen took advantage of the local brews on tap. Once seated, we started with onion rings. Our local expert explained the pride that New Englanders take in their onion rings, and it was clear in the large plate piled high of perfectly golden rings. Rather than the heavily floured batter that easily separates from the onion itself that I've seen too much of lately, these lightly-battered rings were crisp and tasty - not too greasy and not separating. While I'd heard good things about the burger, I couldn't miss the seafood this close to the coast. I had the fish and chips. Again, I appreciated the ratio of batter to fish, and that it was crispy, not soggy. The fries were decent, nothing special. My main disappointment was that they didn't have malt vinegar, only the tartar sauce that is served with the dish. I'm not a fan of coleslaw in general, and the accompanying coleslaw did nothing to remedy that. I got a bite of fried shrimp and fried calamari. The batter on all of it tasted about the same and had a good amount of crispiness. My phone was dying, but our server was kind enough to plug it in and keep an eye on it near the bar. The place was quite busy, so while the server didn't rush us, we hurried out the door to give our spot to others who were waiting. I've always been a fan of this place, but all the more so since Osterville's been blowing out its undeveloped land in favor of the second homers, turning those bar/restaurants almost exclusively into summer folk haunts. Cotuit, by contrast, will always be a little off the beaten path, though the Kettle Ho never wants for customers. The bartenders and staff are no-nonsense folks, which is good for those of us who hold our liquor, and bad for those who consider each bar some kind of drunken playground for adults. I myself may fall on either side of the coin depending on the day and season. Another note on drinks, if you're looking for an awesome bloody mary, see if Taylor will make a batch. In any case, though the food is a little pricey for the fare and I tend to stick with the safety of a stuffed quahog, I did once have the best steak I've ever eaten at a restaurant there in 2012. It was a special on the board, I believe called the "cowboy steak." If it happens to be available, you can't go wrong with that one no matter the price. I have probably been here about 15 times and I have yet to be disappointed! The service is always excellent and the food is very good. The prime rib on Thursday is spectacular but goes quick so get there early and the rib eye on Friday and Saturday is very good also. Place is rather small so you may have to wait to be seated for a little while but it's worth the wait! Great local atmosphere and I recommend giving it a try! read more

Been going to this place for years. My go to meal is the stuffed quahog with the fish sandwich! Both are awesome, especially the quahog. Everything else I've ever tried had also been really good...fisherman's platter, cotuit reuben, chowder, chili. All is good here. Great place to have a drink to beat the heat or at the end of a long day. If there is a wait and you have kids, there is a cool playground right behind the kho. read more
