If you are going to buy a ford in lake county florida do not choose keyscales. They like to argue when you clearly gave something from ford corporate that states any ford dealer must honor ford corporate warranties and coupons to me this is crooked and seems like they try to rip customers off. Since their main customer base is in fact seniors I wonder how many of them they took advantage of and ripped off by not honoring ford corporate warranties and savings coupons. The parts department is clueless on how things work and need extensive training. Customer service is nil and they make the customer out to be a liar. Never I repeat never choose this stealerships. I would rate their service lower but this is the lowest rating available. Back in the spring I inadvertantly washed a key fob (2015 Flex). I accepted that I needed a new fob - so I went to Key Scales. The service tech instructed me to purchase the fob in the parts department (~$200) and bring it back to the service department for programming. The parts dept tech informed me there was a $125 charge for programming the key fob. I had the car there, a working key fob and the non-funtional fob. After several hours, I got my fobs and the bill. In addition to the $125 programming charge, Key Scales piled on a "Shop Materials" fee of $12.50. I questioned this charge - "What Shop Materials did you use?". The service tech said the charge was for things like cutting a new key - I informed the tech that I provided the old key and they did not cut a key or provide any shop materials. The tech informed me that this was a standard charge and refused to remove the charge for shop materials. Needless to say I left the dealership very dissatisfied. As a followup, I wanted to understand if these charges were a Ford thing or a Key Scales thing. I asked another Ford dealership what they charged to program a 2015 Flex fob - the answer - a flat fee of $66 no Shop Materials charges. read more

My husband had the worst experience this morning, we had called last week to the parts dept. to see if they had a latch assembly to go on our van door, the gentleman who we spoke with told us that they had it in stock. We then called the service dept to make an appointment to have the latch installed. We told the service guy what we needed and that the parts dept said they had the part in stock.This morning my husband took the van in.......no part in stock, and then they want to charge him $125 to do a diagnostic test????? For what, we already knew all he needed was the door latch assembly to be installed. When asked why they didn't ask for the part the day we called, he said they don't do that, TALK ABOUT A WASTE OF TIME. I Have had my 2017 Ford Fusion to Key Scales Ford three times to have the Lane Keeping adjusted. Each time I am told that it is working the way it should. I even made an additional trip and the sales manager drove the car before the last appointment was made. Again I was told by the dealership that there was nothing wrong with the lane keeping. The car has 10,000+miles and the lane keeping has always turned off as soon as it detected the car approaching the lines on the sides of the lanes. Customer service is the pits. If I could give a negative rating I would. Every member of the service staff is rude and acts put out to take care customer's needs. Horrible service, no one is kind or caring. Denise acts like taking care of your servicing needs are taking up her time. Brandi doesn't return calls or communicate, it took her 10 days to call me about my recall items while they had my car. Brian, the service manager, is his title but he is rude and uncaring and Lenora the GM, doesn't hold her employees accountable and makes excuses for their poor service. I am renting in The Villages and due to leave in 4 days when I discovered unusual and serious tire damage. Went to a Walmart auto service and they said it looked like the tire damage was done by leaking shocks or damaged suspension. 2018 Lincoln Continental with 27,800 miles, still in warranty. Explained to Lady at the service counter and she said I could not talk with someone without an appointment. Could not make an appointment until Tuesday. Went to GPS and Found Ford Lincoln of Ocala. Explained the situation and they said bring the car and they would work it in there busy schedule and would call be back this afternoon with a plan. They also drove me back to The Villages. When Mr. Scales was still alive this dealership had the highest quality service around without a doubt. The place has really suffered since. I have used their service department 3 times recently. Each time a worse experience then prior. They recently hired an employee named Brandy in the service department. She has to be the most unprofessional, uncurious employee I have ever dealt with. I am the first person to rave about professional service, and this is the first negative review I have ever posted. I have thought about it for 3 weeks prior to posting, and decided this level of service can not go unnoticed. I could go on and on about the poor quality examples I have experienced, but if my review does not sway you simply look at the tremendous amount of unsatisfied customers other than myself. Follow up on sun visor problem of 11/3/16. Took my 2016 Edge Titanium to another dealer to look at why clips and sun visor fell out when you hit a bump in the road. Service Manager looked at small sunscreen I had attached to drivers side and said not enough weight to cause the problem. Covered the repair under new vehicle warranty. The $835 dollars that Lee Scales wanted to charge me went by the wayside. Later when I went to pick up the SUV Service Manager told me the sun visor attachment system was defective. Purchased a new vehicle and noticed that a trim piece was bad from the factory and needed replacing. Made first appointment to get it fixed when part came in. Drove an hour only to find out they ordered the wrong part. During that drive, noticed an issue with rear end that Ford knew about but dealership was clueless. Make second appointment and have both issues worked on. Mechanic scratches paint while fixing trim piece and they refuse to fix it with their own recommend body shop. Never hear from them again. I have my last trip to this dealer for service. I bought a tonneau cover for a new truck from the service department and paid up front for the cover. The invoice had a line item for shop supplies for $32.00 but the shop was never involved in this transaction. I returned to have the cover installed 2 weeks later and was charged another $25.00 for shop supplies even though there was no supplies used for the installation. The only thing needed for the installation was the mechanics tools. I questioned the service advisor about this and was told all service tickets had a automatic 10% added for shop supplies and there was nothing she could do about it. I then told her this should be listed as ADDITIONAL PROFIT NOT QUOTED UP FRONT. The $57.00 I was charged for nothing has cost them a customer. My mother who is 76 years young took her SUV to this dealership to have a key made. She was told she would need to leave the vehicle so they could program the new key. After waiting a couple of days my Mother called wanting to pick up her vehicle and was told they were still working on it. She continued to call over and over again only to find out the Friday before she had called all week her vehicle had been stolen. This dealership let my Mother think her vehicle was being worked on when in fact it was not there for a whole week before they informed her. This is a travesty and to make matters worse they had the audacity to tell my Mother she was targeted as if it were her fault. My Mother filed a police report and the person who stole the vehicle was apprehended a day later. read more

Upon arrival for installation, advisor apologized that part had not been ordered and I would have to reschedule ($400 part). A week later I left my car for installation and got a call saying the duplicate part on the other side of my car was also defective and should be replaced. I reluctantly approved the additional work now estimated at $800. When I arrived at the end of the day to pick up my car I was told they installed both parts but one had a crack in it and would have to be replaced ... they would call to schedule an appointment within a week to replace at no charge. I brought in my 2017 Ford Focus for an oil change and tire rotation. Their service department is ok but the usual quote of two hours for an oil change. It's ridiculous especially considering the outrageous price these mechanics are charging. (I have the tools and ability to do it myself but not the time or room but that's going to be my new route because I'm tired of paying more than $40 for a basic oil change.) I checked my car in went to the showroom because I'm hoping to get a truck soon. I work in sales and advise everyone to do their research before buying anything. Part of the job of a sales rep is educating people on products. After wondering around for thirty minutes I sales rep finally approached me. I had been passed by at least five employees at this point so not a good first impression, but when I said I wasn't buying TODAY the rep could not off load me fast enough. Great way to earn the sale right? I focus on every customer I have so they come back when they need something else but these guys don't want money at all. After a little while one of the service reps comes out and tells me the lugs are stripped. Not the first time I've heard this and it's a common problem on fords because they use aluminum lugs but he tells me it'll be fifty dollars. I've already complained to Ford about this once so I guess I'll be making another call to corporate about it. If you are looking to buy a Ford go to Ford of Clermont. I left there having no clue how to use the myriad of technological features of the car. When I have complained no one seemed to care. We purchased a brand new, fully loaded Taurus Limited from Key Scales in 2014. It performed nicely, and still does; however, over a year ago the GPS was giving us problems. We took it to the service department where we were told that we needed the updated chip for it to work properly. They kept the car for one week, offering no loaner. Supposedly, they had to get a part? When we received the car back, we were not pleased with the amount we were charged for the labor, part, and the new GPS chip. We paid the bill. The GPS worked. It wasn't until we drove it out of the state of Florida that it didn't. We took it back to the dealer. They tested it, it worked. Of course it did--we were in FL.! The salesman who looked at it said not to worry about it--when we traded it in to them, they would still give us a good deal as they would be able to tell anyone who wanted to buy it that the GPS worked! I use my phone GPS now.... Service and sales are not to be trusted. read more

We have always had a great experience with customer service. This time I was a little disappointed. Our glove box on our 2013 Ford Explorer fell out upon opening it. This had never happened before. The tech just assumed that we damaged it. "Looks to be customer damage. Pins and back of box damaged." We did not damage the box. It seems that Ford does not want to take responsibility for it. Recently I made an appointment to have one of the two complimentary oil changes performed on my new car. I went online and made the appointment and arrived a few minutes early. Was asked if I wanted my car washed and said no as I had washed it the day before. I was informed it would be about an hour and 15 minutes before it would be ready. 75 minutes for a simple oil change on a one year old car?? Well it took longer than quoted but not by much. When the car was ready, I was walked to the cashier to get paper work and was informed the car was outside in the service area driveway. And of course when I get to the car all the protective paper and plastic (which I appreciate being used) was still on the seats and floorboard. I wonder if I was actually paying for a service and not redeeming something the customer is promised during the sale would I get a higher level of service. Of course this was the same service advisor who (she) charged my mother in law for two 60,000 mile service packages, 6 months and 4000 miles apart. I'll always have my antenna up if I ever use Key Scales service department again. read more

I have a ford. My vehicle went to them due to one of the headlight bulbs went out. They advised it was a complete sealed unit and I had to purchase the complete unit. $1200.00. While it was in the shop they parked it outside. At this time they was getting the roof re-tard to their building. Well, tar sprayed all over the roof, hood of my vehicle and on several other vehicle. They was going to give me the car without telling me and I noticed it. They brought out a rag with some chemical on it. Not sure what it was. However about 6 months later the paint started to fade out because the chemical they used took off the clear coat. Took it back to them and told them about the problem. They refused to do anything. Now, leys go back to the headlight. I paid $1200.00 for a new headlight assembly like they said. I took them at their word. About 6 months later the bulb went out again. So, I went to amazon to do some research. Found out you do not have to purchase a complete new headlight assembly. I purchased a $45.00 bulb and put it on myself. Sad. read more

The worst experience I have ever had at a car dealership!!!!! My car was towed to the dealership by a Ford vendor at 7:45 am. I called the dealership 5 times over several hours and left multiple messages for the service dept. I had no idea if my car made it there in one piece until 2:00 in the afternoon. Finally got a call saying it would not be ready until the next day. Then the next day u was told it required a special part and would not be ready for another day. A simple battery replacement took 3 days to complete. I was never offered a comp vehicle, so I had no car for 3 days. When I picked up the car I noticed it had not been washed and their was mud in the door well and carpet. And, I also noticed that their was no visible person at the receptionist station answering the phone. It just rang until going into voice mail. Very poor customer service!!! read more

My mother, of 77, had a buying experience with Key Scales Ford that was not in her best interest. She is not a "car girl", as I am a car-guy, and as such, will not question a salesman's "good" judgement. Against my wishes she traded in her paid-for 2012 Buick Regal, worth $16,500 trade-in value, for a $30,000 2014 Ford Fusion. She was given $12,500 for the Regal, and left with a $17,000 note on the new car. By the way, the car values I am citing are from NADA, Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, and Clearbook trade-in and resale values for the Leesburg zip code. One month later, for whatever reason, she needed to get out of the Fusion. The same dealer took in her Fusion in trade for $17,000, and sold her a used 2013 Lincoln MKZ for $36,000. The Lincoln was worth $27,000 tops with its age and mileage, of 10,000 miles, though she did not receive a mileage affidavit from the dealer. If they did prepare one, it wasn't included in her paperwork. They also sold her a 5-yr warranty package, when the car still had nearly 3 years left on the factory warranty. And, according to Carfax, which I got on my own, the car was originally registered and titled as a rental car, which they did not disclose to her either, and has two recalls pending on it that have not been addressed by the dealer. Stigmas have value. Safety has value. I would not recommend this dealer for unaccompanied senior citizens. read more

I brought My car over to key scales with a warranty issue and I was little scared because I did not buy my car there and other dealerships I have been to haven't been the nicest to me when I have brought my car there for service but key scales did not make me feel that way at all. They treated me like family and welcomed my business even though it was just warranty work. Chris was my service writer and was extremely helpful throughout the process he got roadside to pick up my car and had the car back to me the following day. Thank you Key Scales! Ford sent a notice that said that my 2013 Taurus SHO was in need of a recall for a fuel pump module and that the parts were in and I should make an appointment to get it fixed. I did, for, 12/16/2017 @ 930am,, but when I got there, there were no parts. Service writer said the parts would be in on Monday, 12/19/2017. I haven't heard a word from them since.. This is a really bad service depart. Their new gimmick is that you don't need an appointment for an oil change but when you get there they tell you it's going to be a two or three hour wait. This is my second vehicle from this dealership but I think I will pass on the next! read more

I took my 2013 Escape n for a recall regarding the transmission. Shortly after picking it up, I noticed the check engine warning had come on. Bad luck I thought so I called the dealership to make an appointment. I was told that the cost for the diagnostic service to determine what was wrong would cost $120.00 and would be applied to the repair cost should I choose to have them repair the car. After talking to a friend, I decided to take it to AutoZone to have them run a free diagnostic check. Three times it told me that the Intake Air Temperature Sensor was bad. Not knowing where the sensor was located, I went on line to find out. Upon finding the sensor on the engine I was shocked to find the sensor had been disconnected and the connection had been turned and tucked so as not to be easily detected. I hooked up the sensor and the "Check Engine" light went off. Whether accidental or intentional, makes no difference. I will never do business of any kind with a company whose integrity I question. read more

Had my 2011 Ford Fusion towed in last week and that's when I met Service adviser Wendy. She was extremely helpful and understood my problem. A few hours after I left the dealership Wendy called to tell me what the problem was.. The Throttle Control Assembly..I won't go into detail about this VERY PROBLEMATIC part that Ford used, but suffice it to say that after reading 100's of same issue complaints..most dealing with safety, I will initiate a class action law suit if Ford does not admit responsibility for this DEFECTIVE part.. Okay, back to Wendy,,,After her professional, caring, sincere attitude and Wendy's advocacy the "hard to find" part was located, installed in my vehicle and I was on my way within two days.. I live 30 miles away from Key Scales Ford and will continue to travel the distance for this type of service..Key Scales is fortunate to have employees like Wendy.. Probably the best car buying experience I have had in the almost 30 years that I've been driving. The salesperson was very nice, not pushy at all, and genuinely seemed interested in finding the right car for me. The finance manager was also very friendly, and again, not pushy at all. He got me great financing from a local credit union, there were no surprises, and the whole thing couldn't have gone smoother. Update to my original review. We didn't drive the specific car we bought...our bad again, for trusting this company. Since driving off the lot, with our overpriced used car, the alignment has been off. Enough to be annoying, but not an emergency. We don't live close to the dealership, so we figured we would have it taken care of at our first, 'free,' oil change. As it was a, 'certified used car, we figured it wouldn't be a problem. Again, my fault for thinking after all we went through, this company would fix this problem. (We already had the car into another shop. The transfer case failed and leaked everywhere. Apparently, this is a recall that this dealership didn't take care of, before selling us this car.) I made an appointment on their website for the service call. (I must be a glutton for punishment going back to this place, but I wanted to save a few of the bucks they stole from us.) When I got there, the very nice service technician told me the online appointments don't work, so I didn't have an appointment. (What?!) I explained about the alignment issue. She told me that she would have ask the original salesman, 'Rip Off Rod' if he would take care of the bill. (Again..what?) Thank God that Rual King opened next door. I wondered around there for over 2 hours, figuring my car was just waiting for me. Nope, my car still wasn't done and..wait for it..shocker! Rip off Rod refused to have the alignment issue taken care of. So, if you like to wait over 2 hours for an oil change, like to donate money to these people, or like to be generally ripped off, then visit Key Scales Ford. I talked to the same dealer and they seemed to just put me on the back burner. I expressed my interest in the car and after a few days of not hearing anything I called off the deal. But I was talked out of backing out and talked into staying with it. 2 and a half weeks go by and not even a phone call.
