    A huge delicious buckwheat pancake
    Amanda C.

I have never spent any real time in the ADKs so I didn't know if there were even any real restaurants in this part of the state :) I was very pleasantly surprised to see the Keyes Pancake House right across from where I was staying! Inside, it's like a nearly arranged, very clean and friendly diner. Plenty of seating. I was invited to sit at the counter since I was a party of one and that was the perfect place to observe all the goings on. The staff was efficient and swift with its service. I wanted all the pancakes but also felt obligated to have a little protein, so I ordered an omelette and short stack of buckwheat pancakes. Thankfully my sweet server talked me into a single pancake because those things are huge. Easily 8" across and 1/2" thick, 100% delicious. The coffee refills were perfectly timed and the omelette hit the spot. Quick tip: If you want real maple syrup it's an extra cost, and if you use credit/debit they'll add 2.99% to your bill but these are both clearly stated on the menu.

Wonderful service and food! The staff was lovely and the food was plentiful. Their Irish coffee ws on point

Try ordering with the bananas on top

Oh my! This place is always on our list of stops in Old Forge. The pancakes, to be honest, range from very good to excellent. I always ask them to combine the pecan and banana. We'll, this time it was phenomenal, so good I ordered a second one. The photo is that second one and not as much a work of art, but I really felt I needed to write about it. The Belgian waffles are also great. And the young waitress was top notch in a very cozy setting.

Pretty decent breakfast spot in Old forge! Ive been here a few times and it never disappoints. They are currently open for indoor and outdoor dining under COVID guidelines. They serve breakfast all day until close. Love the breakfast burritos. Always bomb. Pecan / apple waffles are delish also. We got a mexican burrito with homefries, a huge waffle with bacon eggs and toast with coffees for under $35 dollars. Delish. Cheap. Good service.

pretty cute place! the kids pancakes were adorable and my kiddos seemed to love them. the staff was friendly and attentive despite how busy it was. i got the mexican omelette and it was ok. i wish they would have used homemade salsa, but not too bad overall.

    S'mores pancakes!

We've been coming here the past six years on vacation and I had to review and post again, that even during Covid, they still provide the best service and best breakfast in Old Forge. The waitresses and staff are so kind and genuine, they immediately make you feel like family! The food never disappoints and is always delicious! Thank you for staying open and being a home away from home for us for so many years!

We've only ever tried their breakfast menu, but the food is quite good. The waffles are especially worth a try.

We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese. They were perfectly toasted and there was plenty of spreadable cream cheese. It made for a perfect light lunch. I don't eat eggs, so it did limit my options. If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

This was such an unexpected treat!…read more Walking around Lake Placid, we bumped into a couple who wound up suggesting a couple of restaurants for us to check out. Cavu was at the top of their list! And with their description of planes taking off and landing nearby, we thought it would be the perfect spot to bring our toddler. To access the restaurant, you have to walk into the airport. I've never been in such a tiny airport before! The cafe space overlooks the tarmac, but we were a little bummed that we only saw one plane takeoff while we were eating. We aren't locals and assumed there would be more! But that wasn't an issue. Plus, once my toddler started to get fussy, the staff whipped out a coloring book and some crayons. It was so so kind of them and nice that they were prepared. The food was excellent as well. My husband got the hash and eggs and was very pleased with the big hunks of corned beef throughout the hash. I tried his homefries and they were also delicious! I got the apple stuffed french toast to share with my toddler. It was perfect. We also got a side of maple cream, which I still dream of. Will definitely come back on our next trip to the area.

There is a counter to the left as you come in, followed by an unattractive cooler case with signs on it. In between is a bakery case that is small but had a nice selection when I was there. I ordered a cup of decaf and a small chocolate almond cupcake, for a price of $8. I declined the plastic box and sat down with the cupcake in an upholstered chair opposite the counter. I thought my coffee would be right up but it took many minutes. I almost left. The cupcake was small but good (fluffy cake, sugary frosting). Then I noticed the sign that said everything was gluten and dairy-free. Surprise! When the coffee was ready, the cream was put in for me. I guess it was nondairy. The coffee was warm like a keurig makes. I had noticed Lunch menus in a wall pocket and Brunch menus behind the counter. So this place is actually full restaurant for people with gluten and dairy allergies. The lunches all seemed to cost ~$18 and seemed inventive. Fries were available as a specialty. There were a lot of tables in the long, cool, dark room. It seemed like a decent place to have an undisturbed meal while talking with friends.
