Let me just say the food was phenomenal. No doubt about that. But where my concern is that my husband was being loud. Love this cafe, the portions are huge, and whenever I eat here I am super happy. The ambiance is great. Very relaxed. There are tables outside, but it is on a busy road. We ate today during Covid. The tables are nicely separated for social distancing. The place was still full, which is great to see. I had the bLT and it was busting with bacon, not a chintzy serving, bread was delicious!. We decided to meet up with friends for brunch. At times, the line was out the door and other times there was no wait. We waited about 20 minutes, which at prime brunch time, wasn't bad. They were able to accommodate us with a high chair as well so this is an option for city dining if you have little kids. I went with the biscuits and gravy. Overall, it was decent but nothing special or unique. The corned beef hash is shredded (instead of the classic cubed) and my friend said it was one of the best he has had in the cities. Overall, service was decent. We waited a long time for our drinks. For health reasons, one person specifically asked for decaf coffee and they brought her a regular cup. We figured it out halfway through the meal. The server apologized, said she didn't pay attention, and was happy to bring us a new cup of decaf. ' The food and drinks are good at Key's. Key's was just the dinner solution my colleague and I needed last night. We actually went to Black Sheep Pizza first, which is just next door. We waited there for about 15 minutes without service. We headed over to Key's hungry and hopeful for a good meal and that we found! The server we experienced was phenomenal. Her kindness and personal touch made the engagement very pleasant. I ordered the Spinach Salad and my colleague got the Fish and Chips. The $3 Cab wine for happy hour put us in a good mood as well! The bakery items looked decadent as well. We lived in St. Paul for too long before trying this place! First, I was impressed that on a Sunday morning we were seated quickly and served promptly without it feeling rushed. They do have a sort of magical way of turning tables without shoving people out the door. My husband and I split the cinnamon roll (they will serve it to you with extra butter, which you probably won't need because it's so gooey and rich to begin with!) After being disappointed with Mickey's Diner just about 2 blocks away because my wife and I had stopped at Caribou Coffee for our beloved lattes with extra shot we were denied service (they would not let us drink our lattes). We referenced Yelp to make another decision of a breakfast diner to visit and found keys. Walked inside was very clean and a sign to seat yourself. Very shortly a waitress came in took our orders. Did not have a problem whatsoever with our lattes from Caribou Coffee. The waitress was very friendly and warming. Promptly took our order for a steak and egg breakfast for two, hash browns, side of avocado and it came with homemade bread you can taste how fresh it was. The steak was wonderfully done to order, perfectly rippened avocado, hash browns were excellent as were the eggs, high quality food and my wife and I enjoyed the morning together. A group of 10 of us made reservations for brunch on Saturday morning. They were super busy when we arrived and they pointed to this empty side room with a long table. We sat down and waited. And waited. I was really dark and cold in the room. I saw a light switch, went over and turned on the lights in the room and suddenly the place went from cold, dark and creepy to a charming place for brunch. They were really busy and once a server finally arrived, she was fairly friendly and cheerful. I think she was really busy and the size of our group through her off her game. I ordered the eggs Florentine with the hollandaise on the side and one piece of french toast to split with a friend. Food came out quickly. My eggs florentine was really fantastic! I loved my meal and would totally go back for it again. The cinnamon french toast was delicious. Everything was full of flavor. One of the girls got the 85th Street omelet and holy balls. I've been here twice now, and this is a really nice spot for breakfast or brunch. The Eggs Benedict are really great, as is their Minnesotan-themed "Loon Omelette). Both visits I also got a mocha latte which was really spectacular on both occasions. I have to say though, the hash browns I got on both occasions were REALLY BAD, probably the worst I've ever had. Read the reviews on here and decided to head in as I was craving soup and a sandwich due to the blistering temperature outside. You'll have to park on the street and if it's between certain hours, you'll have to pay to park like most downtown areas. Luckily, I didn't have to pay as it was outside of paid parking hours. I was immediately greeted upon walking in and since they weren't that busy, you could seat yourself, but I placed a to-go order. They had a bevy or booth, table top, and high-top table seating and a seat to bar area as well. The menu full of all kinds of deliciously listed foods- everything from breakfast items, salads, classic cafe entrees, and sandwiches. I opted for the grilled turkey and Swiss sandwich with tomato bisque soup (their soup of the day) and a side salad. My food didn't take long at all to be prepared and the waitress ensured I had everything I needed such as cutlery and napkins. Driving back to my hotel, the smells of the sandwich and soup were so tantalizing! As I returned to my hotel room and began to eat, i was quite surprised to know the grilled turkey and Swiss sandwich was actual shredded turkey and not what I initially thought of slices turkey deli meat. What a treat!! It was packed full of shredded turkey and the swiss was melted to perfection with the addition of the buttery grilled bread it rested in. This sandwich was soooo good!!! The tomato bisque was very delicious as well with chunks of tomato, celery, onion and the right amount of creaminess. I ended up eating the side salad later, but it was packed full of fresh lettuces, freshly chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, and pretty great tasting croutons. I gave this place 4 stars mostly because it is a nice little quaint place to eat. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the location is positively perfect. Close enough to downtown for an afternoon activity after a lovely lunch. I got the Veggie Burger, it comes with tomato, lettuce, and mayo, it was delicious. The shoestring fries were good, but if you like salty fries, these are not them. My friend got the Biscuits and gravy, he said they were good, but to salty. I had the chance to try this place while I worked on a project in downtown St. Paul. This place is one of the go-to spots during lunch time and beats the alternatives of greasy cafeteria / skyway food. You are immediately treated as family and greeted by all. The staff is friendly and does its best to meet your needs. We were able to request a specific area to sit and they were able to accommodate despite the queue of people waiting. Once seated, the fun begins of reviewing the menu and ordering. The menu consists of a variety of hearty offerings that range from hot cereal, side sandwiches, waffles, to their most famous omelets. As always, I was indecisive and had to leverage the subject matter expert - the server - for her recommendations. She said if I was looking to be in a good mood, she would go for one of the omelets - specifically the "Keys Everything Omelet." This was created 30 years ago and basically has everything (three eggs w/ ham, bacon, pork sausage, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, hash browns, & cheese, etc...) Immediate reactions to this dish was "oh my gosh" as it was generous in portions and delicious and hot. Two pieces of toasted bread also were given, with delicious jam on the side. All of this led to a supposed business meeting to 30-minutes of food heaven. I am not really a breakfast person, but really enjoyed it. Prices are also fair. Keys is great and I will totally revisit. Forget what DJ Khaled said, *Keys is the major key* I scheduled a professional meeting there over lunch and wasn't sure what to expect though the reviews seemed really good so I took the chance at the risk of being poopoo'd for my food tastes (now you know I can't have that!) Meeting went great but what's even better is the high booths and the muffled sounds. The noise level was perfect and the high booths made it so that there were minimal distractions. The dessert counter looked so perfect but I unfortunately couldn't indulge *sigh* Otherwise fair pricing on their soups and sandwiches, quick and convenient service, awesome staff. Our friends said they wanted "a real breakfast" on our recent visit to Saint Paul. This was my first trip to this location. The service was superb from the moment we walked in. We had eggs over easy with Italian sausage hash, the Cajun egg plate with fried Cajun potatoes cheese and hollandaise over eggs. Way way too delicious. Each with two slices of your choice of toast at least 1" thick. They had sour dough, cinnamon, rye, caraway, wheat..... Our friends had the potatoe breakfast menagerie, and an omelette with spinach, avocado, garlic and toast. Oh and the toast comes with homemade strawberry rhubarb jam.
