The Beyond Fried Chicken nuggets are worth trying. Went today around 10:45 am and ordered the meal because it's a better deal then getting the nuggets by itself. The worker in the drive thru was very polite, when I started asking questions about their new product. Great customer service. Was on phone with customer services for 45 minutes to an hour just to get my money back since I wasn't about to drive back in the opposite direction to get my food. NO STARS. No wonder the parking lot of KFC in Kapolei is always empty, except for maybe a car or two and never a long drive-thru line. I found out tonight why. The quality of their food is not anywhere near what it used to be. We ordered a two-piece meal and a four piece meal. I opened the 2-piece meal and the drumstick looked like it belonged to a baby chick. How shameful that KFC is using younger chickens. The thigh was not much bigger. They used to be known for their original seasoning. The thigh didn't look like there was any seasoning on it and it tasted like it didn't have any seasoning on it. This makes me sad, because this is not the first time that we are unhappy about the food that we purchased from KFC-Kapolei. We aren't going to be returning. As a child fast food wasn't everywhere like it is today. KFC was one of those places that was a treat on a Friday night and although we lived in Ewa Beach we'd drive all the way to Pearl City to get KFC. It was always worth it. It looked good, smelled good, and most of all it tasted good. And it didn't look like the pieces came from baby chicks. Ordered Tuesday Special 8 pieces/$10 through KFC app around 7pm. Paid with Apple Pay and received confirmation text for the order. Got to the drive-thru window and gave them my name for the order. They said that my ordered was cancelled via the "KFC app ordering system". I advised them that I didn't cancel my order and tried to show my confirmation text and payment, but they wouldn't even consider looking at it and told me that the order was cancel by the KFC "corporate" and they couldn't do anything about it. I asked if I can re-order the special, but they said I can't do it at the drive-thru window cause their system can't ring up that particular special pricing and it will ring up at the regular $23. They said I would have to reorder thru app. I didn't want to go through the trouble. They gave me the KFC customer service phone number to call to resolve the issue and an attitude that it wasn't their fault that the ordered was cancelled. You guys do that survey on the receipt right? Let's see: as a business owner or manager would you give a free item (aka GO CUP) for a $2.75 soda purchase? Or would you just give a GO CUP if instead of getting $2.75 for the soda, the customer willingly buys a $22 purchase? I might have gotten a "C" in economics class but I still passed. Forget the fact that my ex did my homework. I did the hard part and tried to stay awake. When I brought this up the cashier, who I have never seen before, he started giving me attitude. "You've been taking advantage of the offer and the other managers are wrong." Excuse me? I don't drink much soda and I prefer ice tea. Last time I checked you don't serve ice tea. Man was I ticked off. I was going to leave right there but my 5yo wanted the fries that come with the GO CUP. And their not even curly fries?!?! I got my order of the twenty wings and fries. They don't sell CORN ON THE COB & their meals are served with chocolate chip cookies instead of coleslaw. The cookie idea was ok, but to NOT SERVE CORN ON A COB... UH-UH NO NO!! That's so wrong!! Came for lunch on a Sunday. No line & no other customers dining in. Hmm... is this a bad sign? The young man at the register had great customer service. After taking our order, he kept busy cleaning all the tables while another employee appeared to be on 'break'. This establishment seemed clean. The loss of stars is due to the food. I haven't had KFC in years but recent TV advertisements made me crave it. My 3-piece combo meal just wasn't worth it. The chicken seemed much smaller than I remember and the tiny bowl of mashed potatoes/gravy was blah. The TV commercials did their job & got me good by luring me. I must say the customer service was really good. It was drive thru so I didn't have much one on one. But regardless, the manager at the window was nice and smiled. The chicken on the other hand, we got the 8 piece bucket and only got 2 legs and the rest were skinny pieces of thighs. The legs were meant for our 2 young kids so they each had one and if they wanted more, we had to pick apart the thighs. Which upon holding the thighs, you go to squeeze it between your fingers and grease just came dripping out. So much grease that the skin on the chicken was sliding off. We also ordered the Famous KFC bowl, the bowl was okay except the chicken was really hard and almost felt/tasted as if it sat way too long and got stale. I've eaten there many, many times but today, I thought I'd save my wife and I time and energy cooking and ordered their 16-piecepiece bucket with four sides and biscuit. The chicken, of course, was crispy. I got home and my wife was happy to augment her lunch with piping hot crispy fried chicken. Unfortunately, we've had their crispy fried chicken many times and this was not one of their better days. It was hot and crispy, but the seasonings were so bland, it wasn't very appealing. Disappointing. I hate to say it but even Safeway and Foodland Fried Chicken have more flavor than this batch and it would have been cheaper too. Maybe periodically checking to see if there is any flavor to the seasonings? I know they can do better. The drive through service was fine, speed and the biscuits are good. Just the chicken.
